I sometimes dont warm up to the systems I made though.

hmm i have 100 rocket fuel in my sending drone port and its not very far from my receiving port, wonder why my drone was waiting for fuel. It stayed landed in my receiving port until i fed it fuel and then the supply chain started again
They are never waiting for fuel because that is not how drones operate.

Yes they do, so if there is traffic on landing, they wont have enough to return.
To my knowledge they take and consume the full amount on lift-off.
So fueling at both ends is just you burning more fuel for no reason.
This is why you don't get any back if you disassemble them mid-flight.

They also dont use the fuel if they are going vertically.

I seem to start by copper, iron and limestone then ship in /make factories elsewhere. I usually keep the base items one spot and factories seperate.
Personally I build near the resources if at all possible. For later-game parts where that starts getting infeasible, I'll often have geographically-dispersed "subfactories" to make intermediate components

Some planning depending on start location helps. I always look at more than one recipe needed and try to find a common spot for them kind of. Sort of a factory here for this tier, steel here, electric here, sam here, etc. but I also do belt roads, trains etc. Sometimes visualizing the size is hard. I seem to think it's big enough never and it's too far for a belt but it isn't.

In terms of total needed or the RNG? Just in case, are you parking the rolls on drives which offer recipes you don't need so they're not available to roll on subsequent hard drives?

Well. Last playthrough I seldom used em. Now instead of a huge rail network and drones I went with belts. Trains yes. Tractors yes. Drones Meh. And yes I went with a highway at a certain Y level that was the same as my home place and it turned out good. It has it's pros and cons though. "Spaghetti" shows up fast, and lifted belts somewhat drive me. Definitely different this time. I think better. But the "Build in the air" takes some getting used to and it is a bonus for travel for sure. No more terrible F's when killed by a monster near a node. Just temporarily build down and clean up house. Inf lift is good too. And I use world grid for it. Then all connect easy if needed. Only miners are off grid because they fit nice on 2 foundations and I make a little building for em all.

they're powered thru the station
so if you flip the station wrong way around, they're not powered and wont accept items/work

You can also abuse crash sites and tamed lizard doggos to unlock them quite a lot earlier than you're "supposed" to, at which point their power output could be pretty significant

ive gotten into the habit of building hypertube railguns between key factories and its the best thing ive done so far. no more driving a truck around unless exploring.

Proponents of hypertube cannons would probably want me to point out that you've got a couple options for really quick access:
- Watch where you land and slap a U-Jelly pad there. May need some adjustment, but if you go into the cannon at the same speed each time, your landing point should be basically 100% reliable. No slowdowns at all, basically
- Jetpack puffing doesn't really slow your horizontal motion at all; so long as the cannon's pointed in about the right direction, you should be able to get there pretty quickly so long as the cannon's not overshooting you
Though yeah, I'm not personally a fan of the cannon anyway so I dunno why I'm semi-advocating-for-it. :D 🥳
also if you structure it right and have it fire you in a high arc instead of a long one, you can have much more horizontal control and precision for where you land

Well, I first mapped out all the locations I set up factories in previous saves, like Glog Hub, Herenjustice, etc. Then, considering the types of factories they are and what resources they needed, I routed the trains together close to specific ore deposits and to their respective locations. Also, I used the in-game map to route the trains around soft inclines as to avoid cliffs/precarious building spaces. Then, it was all pizazz after that.
t1 blueprint too small to make coal power blueprint the way id like, mildly annoying >:/ dang smokestacks
I miss the breif period of time when the building collision hitbox was a mesh around the build instead of a box, so you could stack coal gens on top of each other and have the smoke stacks be the only thing moving them in further and further.

basically hand-made, everything that isn't text or perfect shapes are hand-traced with snapping guides in inkscape. that includes the map and the lines.

well, usually you can just make two or more screw lines
yeah but i need to completely redesign the top of this building to use an alt recipe now
use steel screw, direct feed into a machien that doesn't need more than 480pm
i switched over to steel rotors
iron pipe + steel rotor. now the top of the building will be much smaller and will have a spot where copper sheets come in from a smaller factory nearby.
Hello, my problem was that I bought Satisfactory in its very early days and the slugs, orbs, and somersloops were totally unusable and in the beginning you couldn't get rid of them... yeah, I made mistake, so I have 50% less than all of you I juste hope I can finish the game😅😂

The problem is partially that I'd have to rebuild the entire 57000mw power grid from the ground up because the whole thing is just a giant spider web (my partner and I were playing together and we both built out big sections of it without really considering the organisation)

yes, motors and their upgrades are probably the second most used component in the game
okay i was just asking bc im going to make a mega factor for motors just not sure how many to go for per min
dont make anything huge until youve unlocked the quartz alt recipe, it doubles the amount of motors you get by just adding a crystal oscillator to the recipe
My own advice is to not do a huge motors factory, but instead just make whatever you need right now (in the knowledge that you'll need to make more later)

If you're going to make your regular hypertubes into cannons, it's worth getting the hypertube exit anywhere mod

I am finishing phase 5 today, this is the end of my first every playthrough 😢
All my grandioze plans went down the drain.
No bustling train system, no fleet of trucks, no production line from source node/ raw materials to finished product without feeding machines manually most of the time and/or crafting manually.
At least I managed to get at some point stable 140GW from my Fuel Power Plant in the abyss near the crater.
Now I will wait till 1.2+ become stable and gonna play again with all the new features and QoL.

Depends on the fuel. Packaged fuel is 50 m/second, packaged ionized fuel is 100 m/s. The rest is from that range. Even at its slowest pace that bad boy moves 6 foundations per second.

with middle mouse click on pc. But you can't just grab the color

You could power them both with the same energy source, trucks just skip the fuel->electricity part (even using different fuels, one can easily compare their energy amount by MJ)

If you just want to see how manifolds work, the wiki page on "manifolds" is probably a good start
Its a bit of a pain to setup manifolds in modeler though i tried it when i first started using it. An alternative is to limit your boxes by belt speed as well

I strongly suggest against trying to implement any splitting more complicated than just "merge and Overflow" in Modeler. It is not fit for that and will fight you tooth an nails when you try... (ie: it's cumbersome to do and makes the tool lag)

I actually have a tip for this, use swatches on concrete foundations or patterns to mark out areas
