just post the link 🙂
you are the one making accusations, you're the one that should provide proof
nowhere did you says alts were off the table until loooong after we'd started giving you the better numbers
60% less power is better numbers? O.o
when did i say it is better numbers?
234GW over 97.5GW is 60% less?
better numbers as in "you can make more than that much with 780 uranium"
Yea you can make plutonium also, but i didn't ask him for that lol
it's 240% more. We're giving the 234GW
I'm pretty sure 234 is more than 97.5
idk, brain math not going and i can't be arsed to do it
but mein said he provided better numbers for the non alts, so yea, it would be 60% less
we haven't even started on factoring that in yet lol
I told him likke 3 times that i meant without alts and he kept going, not my fault he can't read
no, they said they provided better numbers before non-alts was mentioned
no, I said we provide dthe accurate/proper numbers for what we were discussing. I said you were wrong not that you numbers weren't higher
all I know is that greeny is always correct except when it comes to his opinion of cast screws which is woefully misguided at best
https://discordapp.com/channels/370472939054956546/455858725518049280/1479091435100700704 this is first mention that could mean non-alts. That's way past all the convo where I gave you the numbers, and definitely not mentioned 3 times
you should use alts, #screenshots message thats enough to power 250 reactors an it uses less than 2 pure nodes of the nodes required if you make everything from scratch at your nuclear plant
and what i mean was 97.5gw is 60% less than 234gw
yeah but we gave them 234GW which is more than their original 97.5GW 🙂
their original 93GW*
you didn't giv eme anything, we were dicussing basic production....
i just find it weird to complain about the power gains when choosing the least power to make
I find it weird to not specify you don't want alts and then complain that nobody can read your mind
who said we were discussing my build...
I said it is weird that the first jump to basic urnanium from oil is so low
I gave you the link with numbers
Uranium fuel rods seems like a huge exspense of time and materials for not that much of a power upgrade
there's absolutely not any mention of "basic" or "non-alt"
no you didn't, you gave me a link to a blankcalculator
change the tab to the last one
it gets imported at the end of your tabs
really need to beat a dead horse? no one wanted your input, get the point.
don't post in a public forum if you don't want opinions lol
a full 600/min of oil only gets you 400 fuel -> 5000 MW, fwiw. if we're comparing altless
so nuclear's a heck of a jump there 😛
he doesnt want your input fyi 😉
We all like Meindratheal
I guess don't bother, they will take your messages out of context, then complain you understood them wrong, and at the end they'll tell you that they already said 4 times something that they didn't mention at all
well, 600 crude can be turned into 2400 rokkit for 144gw. 600 uranium can be turned in 14.4 fuel rods for 180gw, but then add plutonum for another 160gw, then 80gw for ficonium for total of 420gw. same basic resource input
Hey ! Am I the only one who hears some similarities between Satisfactory and Dead Island 2 musics ?
so thats comparing like best oil does to best uranium does, and its nearly 3x power
while uranium is practically pointless apart from power
pasta maybe
its only used to make power
pasta needs 0 uranium
very confusing name then
power & nukes is its only use im sure
nuclear nobelisk
-_-
why so?
yes, but it has nothing to do with nuclear power, and more to do with the nucleus of neutron stars
Nuclear just means relating to the nucleus of an atom
that ^
nuclear power is also just power of atoms 🙂
"nuclear" doesn't immediately mean "radioactive stuff" or anything
it is though, in the commoners language
no, its just most commonly associated with nuclear power
I mean yeah, but I'm explaining it in context of nuclear pasta
^ what i said
that doesnt mean it doesnt have other meanings
its game design
and why it has "nuclear" in name, while not being radioactive
nuclear pasta is an actual scientific term
not game design
cause of the extreme environment inside the core of neutron stars, the neutrons organize themselves into small cylinders, called the gnocchi phase. then long cylinders called spaghetti phase and then into sheets called lasagna phase. hence the term Nuclear Pasta came to be
probably by some scientists hungry at the time, but yes. its an official term you can find
nuclear can also mean the radius of the core of an atom
and i think, the nucleus of a cell in biology
or nucleum the board game
or a nuclear family
this one being the reason we call it nuclear power. cause we're splitting (and maybe in 50 years, fusing) atoms
fusion reactors in-game when
!modding
fusion in a dlc would be neato, the piping to make deuterium and tritium would make players cry
"maybe in 50 years" 🤣
you mean the same 50 years ETA for the past 50 years? 🤣
well they've gone "we have fusion in 10 years and then 10 years later "we'll have fusion in 10 years" ... repeat, i just consolidated it some
gotta keep that grant money flowing!
they've made progrss tho, keeping a reactor on for 22 minutes
I gotta say giving you nuclear power in one milestone and the ability to process the waste in a different one is a diabolical trap and I love it
processing waste is completely optional tho
I mean I guess you could send it off to an exclusion zone warehouse but that's not a sustainable option
could throw it off the map in trucks like some people do, it won't kill your game anymore
not indefinitely, but you can build a big enough storage to make it not a realistic issue
for my plutonium waste I built like 7000 hours worth of storage to be safe
unless your making 2500 a minute like me 😄
5 stacks a minute, so 10.8 minutes per doublecrate, 133.33... crates/day. Even that you could build enough for
well you aint make 2500 plutonium waste :p
it's sustainable for enough time to play the game
but 2520 uranium waste
they do not despawn tho
they do if you're a monster and give it to lizard doggos and kill them
they = trucks
fun fact the constructer animation is of it making cast screws
its just making some box, which bugs out and disappears atm
Is the pioneer FORK LIFT CERTIFIED?
anyone got some nice designs for belts that are 'embedded' in the floor? I'm looking for some inspiration to run my belts through the factory in a way that i can still walk around freely, but that the belts are not 'overhead'
WE NEED TO KNOW
This pioneer is IRL
BUT I think it hardly matters on a moon likely outside and jurisdiction
obviously not, its why theres no forklifts on massage
I guess pioneers are certified to operate any device they can build
so until there are buildable forklifts, no certification there 😛
If you make your factory floor from 2m foundations and replace some with 1m dropped down a bit, you should be able to just run the belt on the lower strip
this ficist cart tm is simply the ficist forklift tm with no fork
tm because idk how to do trade mark
it has no fork nor lift tho :p
no fork, no lift, no certified
I JUST SAID ITS A FORKLIFT WITH NO FORK
then its just a lift... but thats a building element, not a vehicle 😛
although its also in the 'transport' section
it can have lift with jump pads 😛
nobolicks should blow up trains
i want to recreate end of the line sfm derail scene in satisfactory
R
thank you lmao
That's why I make sure every alt recipe also uses 10 screws including cast screws
NOO why did Discord not scroll again
i have issues with discord autoscroll.
Lack of doing so. Doing it when i dont want it to
Apart from that being bugged, right now it showed as the most recent message, not with that empty void it usually does
well, on mobile when i see that someone has @me since i last looked i want to see that. When i click the notification it often brings me to the most recent comment in the channel not to where i was @
But even more frustrating is when it does try to show me the msg it takes me half way to it
Discord has never been good
Somehow Discord right now is in the best state it's been in
I love complaining but oh boy would that go on for hours if we did
as a whole discord is good, but there is many issues like any program.
You are correct complaining could last forever
Hell nah could I complain about any other program as much, with exception of Microsoft products
Though the two feel similar in quality

The last windows update introduced a Memory leak. So i gotta reset my desktop every day when i get home
We recently switched from teams to slack at work and I couldn't be happier
we are Teams at work, by teams i mean everyone but me
There are people who actually want teams back.....I can't understand it
... compared to hunts and other micro transactions?
I mean people resisting Change.
Not sure if OSR is the best example there
meanwhile here we are like WE WANT MORE CHANGES TO OUR GAME
GIMMI
I am pro- people who embrace change like that if it is for the better

Yo I’m new and still on biofuel, is it a good idea to connect all the generators in my mini biofuel processing plant into one power line that powers all my machines
Yes
Yes for ease
Ok thanks
Also is there anything important I should know before I switch to coal or is it like the same thing as bio but just with drills instead of biofuel constructors
you'll need sippy too for coal
with load balancing and mk2 belts you can feed 15 bioburners in one system
What’s load balancing?
uhhh..... dont worry about that yet if your about to get coal lol
So many big words with this game lol
I’ve watched a few videos of the old dude on YouTube who plays this game idk if anyone knows who I’m talking about
He has the “giga-factory” I learned about manifolds from his videos
generally speaking we suggest new folks to avoid mega factory builds and just buiild where the resources are.
large forward thinking factories are a good way to get overwhelmed.
with
load balancing andmk2 belts you can feed 15 bioburners in one system
load balancing shouldn't have any impact here, all that matters is input vs output
just a diffrence on start up time
load balancing makes em all power on about same time. manifolding make em power on one by one. both work the same in the end
unless you are limited on resources then load balancing can ensure each machine is getting the fuel when its needed.
BUT in this case i should have not brought up load balancing at all as it doesnt matter. they are going to be using coal soo n
if you're limited on resources you build what you have resources for. makes no diffrent which feed method you use
Yeah nah I was thinking of staying away from mega factories or really anything where I have to heavily manage space bc besides a few create mod farms this is my first factory game
in a manifold every machine beyond the first is getting less resources until the previous one has a full stack. with load balancing they all recieve the resource equally.
so when you are down to your last 50 (or stack size) of said resource its not just sitting in the first machine as the other machine go idle
except as the last machines goes idle, it gets fed while being off, so it will build up enough of a buffer to stay on 100%
Have fun and we are happy to help. Its also a sandbox game with many solutions to the same problem. As you can see above many of us have diffrent ways to approach a problem.
the key is to have fun and find enjoyment
Ok, thanks
just make sure you're having ficsit sanctioned fun by using lots of factory carts
Do you guys know satisfactory?
no
no never heard of it
I think I might have heard of it from a friend
no
satisfactory goes to another school in canada though, that's why it's never here
You should try it
I heard it doesn't have mk2 factory carts yet so I should just wait until it's more perfect
to many calories anyways
Why though? Is there a good reason to try it?
Makes your brain braining
Yeah but I heard world of warcraft has more automation than satisfactory. Is that true?
Not anymore they nuked DBM :^)
smooth brain, simple brain, happy brain
Play checkers
Yo anyone have any idea if infinite world generation/ random world generation is coming to satisfactory?
If I remember correctly, no.
it wouldnt really work that well with satisfactory anyway since resource nodes arent depletable but, future maps arent off the table iirc
Definitely not
Do you guys think StarRupture is a threat to Satisfactory?
What we might be getting in v1.2 is a game mode which randomizes resource nodes, at least
Gotcha

Q&A: Randomly generated Map?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTxi2Xi1B9Y
no
no, it takes the approach differently
if anything its more a threat to factorio than satisfactory
No, there's plenty of room in the market for various takes on "automation game"

Q&A: Is CSS satisfied with the Console sales numbers?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKn9f4Itqt4&t=3063
We had a certain target.
A vague target for you guys.
that we wanted to reach within two years of consoles releasing.
That's already been smashed, so cool.
not even a little bit, they not in same genre
the end of an era
automation games pool is kinda dry, It won't hurt having more
like we cant compete it with like, survivors (vampire survivors), rogue likes, metroidvanias
Didn't StarRupture steal many Satisfactory players? Or is it the other way around?
steal?
it would steal factorio players quicker
Honestly for crunchier factory automation games, if you also stipulate that you want games that aren't in Early Access, it's a relatively empty field
you know people can play both, cuz they diffrent types of games
reminder that satisfactory is one of the calmer automation games out there
Though Shapez 2 comes out of EA in April! :D Looking forward to that one
starrupture is more high stakes like factorio is
starrupture is more tower defense with automation added
which is exactly what factorio is too lmao
star rupture also lack the main appeal satisfactory has. decorative aspect
they are? they make money from game sales? im not sure what you mean here

the Hand crafted and designed map is a feature of the game and is what makes it so good. So i wouldn't hold your breathe for procedural generation. Random nodes has been floated as a possibility and many hope for it in 1.2 but i dont think it will come with 1.2
Live service monetization has cooked the industry, not every game needs to be monetized like that and in fact most games shouldn't be.
But regardless of how closely a game might target roughly the same demographic, there's still plenty of room out there for more games in the genre. It's not either/or; a Factorio player might get burnt out on Factorio for awhile and go play something else, but it doesn't mean they stopped liking Factorio and will never go back to it, etc.
Stop expecting or wanting games to be monetized like that, it's not even needed for most studios to break even lmao
like paid dlcs etc
@weak bloom im just thinking that some players migth want to spend more, then let them to help the studios
dlc rumored to be in the works
that hasnt been off the table, it has been talked about
Games "competing" for each other in the same genre is a lot more fraught when it's explicitly multiplayer focused like "live service" or MMO type things. Essentially singleplayer stuff like these can happily coexist

Q&A: Can we expect a DLC in the future?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oiCFr8dEAo
Can't speak on what shape it will be, but we have something confirmed for the future, content-wise, that is substantially bigger than a one-point number update.
Truthfully coffeestain is one of the few companies i would gladly give money for dlc for, i trust them to do a good job
Like what other company would go out of their way to make a "heavy announcement" and then drop a bomb shell of "oh we are dropping our merch prices"
imagine paying once for a game, no requirement to be always online and you can enjoy it anytime you like. Its kinda sad how thats a novel concept in this day and age
Im a fan of Bringing back old School expansions that add the same amount of content to the game as the base or more. I would pay $50 for another hand crafted map
<@&370483737957236737> how's the legally-distinct creature-in-your-pocket capturing mechanic coming? 😛
you can check out lizarddoggo.com
gotta catch 'em all to use as golf balls
I remember back in the day when you'd pay once and be s.o.l. if the game had bugs, no patches
You've gotta encase 'em all in a geometric solid!!
Gonna be honest I don't think this is a good enough justification for adding mtx to a game when most games need it. If you really want to give the studio more money I'm sure you can find ways, but like for 99.99% of consumers, the purchase is the way they do that.
Opening the door to mtx is never a good thing imo. Do expansions, sure. But man I really just miss the days when games were a purchase
you just might not know it hearing people stress about recipes and stuff around here lol
d20
lmao its better than someone bursting in here like "MY FACTORY IS BEING INVADED AND IM LOSING EVERYTHING PLZ HELP"
Right....it's sad
For sure, but games also were't 500 played hours before for $29
They absolutely were lmao
Games these days are supported for many years
looks at Oblivion
looks at tetris
I have over a thousand hours in the original Xenoblade X and plenty of other rpgs are similar
Well oblivion literally has new games in the series
i have 1500 hours between x-com and x-com2 :)
the amount of people I know who had to play skyrim like 70% of the way through 50 times with different mods each time is way too high
Ok games from 90's are maybe not the best examples
i got simuilar playtime in x-com apocolypse
I'm sure people play lots of chess that is free too, but the development of those games didn't continue in the same way as say Satisfactory
back in the day I'd just finished playing a neverwinter nights 2 expansion & had the choice between spending £15 on the next expansion or buying oblivion.
oblivion had way bigger value for money
oblivion? 90s?
There are TONS of one-and-done games that I've put years of time into. Games do not have to be "supported" for years to be played for years
This is exactly the kind of twisting of expectations that live service has done to the industry
I wouldn't be totally opposed to cheap cosmetics as mtx in Satisfactory - - - outfits for Pioneer, build gun bauble things, a custom toilet. Overall, I'm glad they haven't done it though.
those are free already tho
male pioneer model for €500 :)
I mean more of them
Well live service is literally why you get so many updates no? 🙂
<@&370483737957236737> Caterium toilet skin in 1.2?
I'd pay 0.99$ for that
Should just let us apply Customizer settings in general!
and coffee stain is the kind of studio that would give you it...for free
the material is already in the game, you'd be paying 99 cents for something that someone could build while a fresh pot of coffee brews
My point is that you don't NEED a game to constantly be updated....
It's the regular patch cycle expectation for everything that I have a problem with.
Why not have a one-time purchase and then maybe a big expansion a couple years later that you also buy? That was the model for decades before live service took over everything and now we expect nonstop development......
Sure, so you mean you want less updates?
The only time that i have immediately blocked someone here ( that wasnt scammers) was when someone entered chat and said "Is there a way not to play as a fat bitch"
lol
sometimes less is more
<@&370483737957236737> Lizard Doggo upholstery option for Explorer seat
Sure sometimes it is, but would you?
Yeah, I got plenty to do in this game, I am okay with it
yeah, I want more complete games at-release and less of a treadmill of releases/seasons/etc
Yeah, there is a danger to continual updates, honestly. You run the risk of accidentally alienating the older playerbase. There's folks who didn't like a bunch of the changes that arrived with v1.0, for instance
If fewer updates means they can take more time with a meaningful update and not have to insert mtx to fund the development in the meantime? ABSOLUTELY.
that's the biggest problem with live service. It inherently pushes the mtx model because they need to fund continual development.
(Though of course coming-out-of-Early-Access is a bit different than "constant updates," don't take that as a complaint. :)

Q&A: Will the Patch Notes video show everything in 1.2? (Part 2)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuheeiYlki4&t=294

Genuinely, what was that?Mikael
That was Jason times four, I believe.Jason
Yeah, guys, this is the new male character model.Marv confirmed it.
You've been asking for it.
already teased/leaked
-# just kidding
I wonder if the CMs ever get annoyed at how much you ping them with random nonsense 😅
I guess at least they have Do Not Disturb mode
you dont have to play the game 24/7, you can play for a bit, take a break, come back at a new update, play some more, etc. since its not live service you never fall behind
oh no jason doesnt, hes hearing all these pings lmao
it's a monetized beta but some studios use it more honestly than others do
oh god, my condolences to his discord
oh I have a comeback for that, buuuuuut it'd violate the #rules to dunk on someone so hard
I imagine jason in a meeting right now and seeing a pop-up on his laptop about caterium toilet skins
"My my, looks like some Community needs... managing."
my shenanigans get featured in their youtube videos, so they used to it.
what better way to promote good work-life balance than to encourage people to turn off their phones when they take a break?
Knowing how to set discord notification settings has to be a core CM skill right? 😆
Its part of the job requirements "Must be proficient in discord"
I'm fairly confident that was legit in the job ad @obsidian zodiac applied for
It's an entirely reasonable requirement for a job like that, honestly
One of your primary company-to-customer interfaces is Discord; you'll want someone who's proficient in existing in that space
(not like Discord's a difficult skill to develop or whatever, but it's entirely reasonable to have on a requirements list for the job)
||jaded enough to not be shocked at community shenanigans||

why you still there?
it will forever be twitter
i like to call it "ex-twitter" haha get it? X-Twitter
if the transphobic douchenozzle doesn't wanna respect people's name changes, don't see why we should respect his renaming a business
according to google, X is pronounced "sh" in chinese, so post-rename it'd be "shitter"
sounds fitting
yeah but I heard it's the everything app
he also promised my cyberwagon would function as a boat for short periods of time and yet here I am at the bottom of the ocean offshore from my plastic factory 🙁
the titanic is a boat
at least the cyberwagon hasn't imploded yet like the last boat to visit the titanic
funny
bit difficult for it to implode if the panels are just glued on
mcdonalds all day breakfast
Cool factory or facility?
just went and picked up some for me and my dad and sister and it was like 20$ for all of us with multiple online deals the prices are absurd
i get my lunch at the grocery store salad bar
I am really proud of my crocodile train hub
i made a 6 smelter stack blueprint with a ton of steel frames in it looked really cool but was pretty large for what it was so i dont use it
whats such a cute idea i love it
i recently got mk3 belt
You're going to get the waffles right? Those are clearly the best option
i’m not trying eating breakfast🙃
i can very easily hand feed manufacturers to get the acus and modular engines i need for phase 3 but im a bit intimidated by phase 4 and dk if im ready
It's more of a brunch really
No need to rush. I feel modular engines doesnt really teach you anything to prepare you for phase four.
By feeding phase parts into the space elevator
make the items the space elevator needs 👍
make 50 smart plates, and gently caress em into the space elevator, and fire em off into space
not into space, into the skybase society
ficsit better makeit better
Generally speaking is rubber or plastic used more?
at the start definetly plastic
later, dunno
Depends on the recipes you choose down the line.
ive completed all my current goals and they felt like alot of work and pretty monumental all for just 5 computers a minute and 6 (slooped) hmfs a minute the idea of making anymore than i already have seems like a huge feat this has me thinking im not using blueprints enough
Im about to finish phase 3 and im using none of either
greenie..?
Blueprints are optional if you feel like you want to manually place less use the blueprinter. I like it for some things
any alternate recepies that i would REALLY need?
iron to nails
Stitched plates for sure, ditch screws asap
All recipes are just tools. You pick the one that fits your resources and goals.
There is some ppl prefer but that is just preferences
For example many never want to manage screws so the pick the recipes that allow then to not use them at all
i manually placed everything in my large factory putting basic phase 1 and 2 parts into storage and mostly manually placed everything for my computers and hmfs and it took SO long to figure it all out i feel like there MUST be a way to cut down on the time and labor but with every factory making something else and needing diffrent specic machines in diffrent places i feel like blueprints wont be much help
Stitched plates and iron wire let you produce reinforced iron plate purely from iron
^but also screw screws lol
Alt recipes are just there to give you options while building. As you've seen with the past few responses, some folks definitely acquire opinions about which ones they like a lot (and those opinions may have wide community consensus), but there's no real bad or good. They all have upsides and downsides -- trading one resource for another, or complexity for resource usage, etc.
My own advice is: keep finding hard drives and doing research. There's more drives than you can even use, so you'll get all alt recipes eventually anyway. :)
tbh manually building factories is definitly fun but when i look at a turbo motor setup the idea of doing all that manually scares me
I think there's only some recipe chains that are like definitively better than others. Like the 1800 plastic rubber recipe with diluted fuel and both recycled recipes. That's just straight up definitively better than the non alternate recipes.
But most of the other alts have some tradeoffs in numbers of materials and types of materials required
While looking at a machine you can press ctrl+c to copy setting and ctrl+v to paste.
You can place one machine set it up and look at then middle mouse click (scroll wheel click) to copy the building and settings to place more
That one's got the disadvantage of, IMO, being the most complex production chain in the game. Nothing else requires either smart splitters or really careful division of machines via clocking, or has the same kind of feedback loop
Your first recycled-loop petrochem setup is a bit of a mindfuck
That's valid
And there's so much oil on the map that most people really don't need that level of oil-efficiency.
(I mean don't get me wrong; I use the recycled loop basically every time. :D But it does have downsides. :)
you have saved me with this thank you 🙏
I knew abt the middle mouse click but the copy and pasting the recipies cuts the imo most tedious part of selecting and over or under clock hundreds of machines
phwoar
i wish i knew this sooner but im glad i do now 😭
Shortcuts help.
@elder skiff
#screenshots message
Pipe flow limitations
theres sm hotkeys and shortcuts in this game i feel like theres always a easier way to do smth that i just dont know yet
Am I crazy for wanting the final stage of 37.778 refineries to actually be 40 refineries so it can be a nicer grid and figure out wtf I need to clock them to to make it work? XD
Hi
Like that way I can do blocks of 20, 10, 16, and 40 refineries for the full chain
When satisfactory tools say 4.2 constructors i see it as 4 at 100% and one set at 20%
But it can be divided anyway you choose.
Heh, I long ago resigned myself to the absence of "clean" whole numbers like that. No longer bothers me. :D
Yeah I usually just round up and down clock the last one
if its 50% or under i usually just overclock it and save on a little space here any there
That's a not-uncommon desire for folks, though. :)
You could place double the machines and underclock them all and save on a little power ( did this recently as im trying to avoid expanding my power facilities)
Underclock your suppose to over clock
Could go even further than that! I forget where exactly the break-even point is; at some point the increased machine count ends up overwhelming the power savings. :)
You are supposed to have fun and use the tools given to reach your goals in the sandbox ^-^
maybe im just thinking on a small scale since im not far into the game but the idea of that sounds crazy to me when im placing setups just for a few hmfs/m the amount of machines seems absurd at times the idea of doubling them is crazy
Its all a matter of context. How i play now is different then 200 hours ago. I'm sure it'll change again
sure -everyone knows what it is either way anyway
The nice thing is that you can clock via output number. So for that final plastic output for example. I need it to be 1800 plastic out of 40 refineries. 4 lines of 10, each line makes 450, so I just clock them all to 45 output. May have to do some extra weirdness depending on how I'm routing in the input fuel but yeah that's a problem I like solving
Dividing inputs and machines into neat groups adds a really fun problem rather than just plugging in the solver's overclock number and slapping a manifold on the thing
huh? yeah twitter is x and x is twitter
Breaking up manifolds into clusters is the way I have been doing things. I re a fly like it
And a lot of the time you HAVE to deal with the input splitting due to belt and pipe limitations. This system uses 1333.33 fuel. How many pipes am I going to divide that into? Do I just do 2x600+overflow? That's the easiest but I don't like that.
Instead I'll probably have one fuel pipe out of every 4 blenders and then figure out how many refineries I can properly fuel with that.
Which then cascades into "I can't just evenly down clock all the refineries, I need the refinery clocks to match the fuel input"
i think if i build my next factory with this in mind instead of clocking one machine at a very specific number ill have a much better time
Solving that kind of stuff has been the most fun part of this game so far for me
My 8 refineries produce 55.715 iron ingots each 🙁
Absolutely. It's a great recipe to get the most bang out of your (iron) buck
Just uses more power and space
Refinery fatigue is real though
I mean it works both ways too. If you need a line of machines to produce 500 items and each machine at 100% clock produces 60, you can also divide, round down, and downclock the last machine to the output amount rather than always going back to do the weird percentage math.
500/60=8.3333 so that's 8*60=480 so just clock the 9th to produce 20
I do also really like the alloy alternate recipes, especially early on when you're bringing copper and iron in at the same time anyway
I completely agree, I would loooove an alternate refinery factory design
twice as large, with smokestacks that reach to the sky!
thats 240mw alone just for some extra iron atleast for me rn thatd be enough to make me not wanna use it in combination with the fact that you gotta find somewhere to put 8 refineries in your setup near water without it getting in the way
Well the facility is just made needed two nodes of copper regardless of if i used the base copper ingot recipe or pure copper.
So I just used the base and "wasted" some ore. But I didn't need to use water extractors and the foot Print of ten smelters is small
And I use less power this way
twotter is twitter
#screenshots message - just slap em on a cliff, ezpz.
Power concern makes sense if you're sick of worrying about it and don't wanna expand until later
Yeah, I WANT to take up as much space as possible in my spaghetti wonderland, so it also helps there. Curved pipes look so good.
It's not like in a regular playthrough you're ever going to "run out" of ore right
Quick question how do I figure out how many nuclear reactors I need
For each type of rod or do they all burn the same
After seven clears every run is a challenge run. Im trying to avoid expanding my power facilities until nuclear.
different rods burn at different rates so you'd figure out a number of reactors the sum can support
Do you happen too know each ones rate
I do not but you could find it on the wiki and maybe in the codex
uranium 0.2/min, plutonium 0.1/min ficsonium 1.0/min
Also a quick question i build my nucleare powerplant with 250% Reactors they need 600 water per minute so i connected 1 full mk2 pipe with them but they run out of water every once in a while stop for a few second and then restart do i need to put a fluid buffer for every pipe or is there another solution
uranium makes x50 waste, plutonium x10 waste, and ficsonium 0 waste
new idea
I mean hell, I'm so inclined to take up as much space as possible with ridiculous designs that I'm going to put a splitter on each output of my 8 refineries and have them wind around and merge together just to build some iron plates. Eventually that'll backup and will only startup when I need more iron plates, and the rest of the iron will be used for... idk something, maybe just to cart around my area for fun
remove 1% from the overclock :3
i want automated litter box for lizard dogos
agreed, this is why I underclock everything to 20%
they need so much water, you need a somewhat large pipe volume to keep em fed. or slightly downclock em
like 240% instead of 250%
I've at least put myself in the mind set to underclock and build more rather than overclock lmao I'm not deep enough to set all machines to 1% yet 😉
I need 250 fully overclocked
150k water I think
you're amazing and talented and I believe in you and your dream involving 250 pipes of water
That's not the part I'm worried about tbh
if you have 50.4 uranium fuel rods, then you could feed those into 120 nuclear gens at 210%
But ty
Your world is literally that windows XP screensaver
Thats not a pipe dream. Its a pipe nightmare
Without spoiling myself, is there any rhyme or reason to what the different crashed pods require to unlock? I've had everything from "Oh just open it" to "Oh drag 100 power over here" and this one I'm standing in front of wants Solid Biofuel?
There's one that wants like a singularity cell
It's just random
(not literally random) but the requirements range the entire set of parts in the game
Fair 'nuff!
no, theres no rhyme nor reason, just increasing material costs
Spicy rock good cromch
i cant tell whats harder with trains understanding how blockers and signals work or making them look good 😭
Feel free to open a thread in #1038092680493801533 and @me or dm me for train signal assistance.
i have what i belive is called a push pull train (locomotive on both sides going back and fourth) i tried adding blockers so i could have another train use the track its on as well but no matter what i tried theyd end up saying theres no exit signal
Cromch like candied pecans
Signals are directional and work poorly on a push pull train .
I suggest making a one direction loop
Or
A two track system where trains only move one way on each track.
Think of each track as half a road. You always drive one the same side. My system a forward moving train always uses the right side track from the engines perspective
if i make 2 tracks one going in each direction to make one train turn around would i just have to have it loop into the other one? if theyre right next to eachother that seems like itd be a bit difficult
yes, train would exit station onto opposing track, go to next station then exit onto the first track
One second let me find a convo I had yesterday
this is a great conversation about this. I linked you to a image but the coversation started before this.
Depends how much you actually play satisfactory
Recently?
Then you havent missed much ^-^
hey guys new here, what chat should i message on if i have some questions
You can search your question there too to see if it had been already answered
my question is im in phase two and im wondering what i should be trying to automate in phase two
ive got 8 coal generators all working to maxiumum efficiency
power is good for now
should i be automating the basic like screws, plates and rods
Everything
The core to the game is automation.
Layouts and logistics are the challenges
I suggest new players automate as needed.
Set a goal and automate to achieve it. You need smart plates choose how many a minute then automate to reach the goal.
what lines would you reccomend
Other then screws and phase parts you need everything in phase 1 and 2 for personal use.
A single stack of screws for personal use will last you the game often
im in a good spot plenty of iron nodes what lines would you guys do
You should automate anything you need
as in, which items to automate? a) whatever you need, which will likely be b) everything [except probably screws]
Make what I need instead of asking randoms
then decide
Are you making your phase parts?
Then look at milestones what items you need to unlock, or what buildings you want to build
literally everything you unlock will help you eventually
lifes shit
u are weird arent u
join the club im a dirty freak
trust me im dirty
im a swamp
In game there is a swamp to the fat east you and @unborn gyro should go live there
Hi depressed I'm Beefalo 🙃
no you arent
is there mk6 belts and if so how long of a gap is there between mk5 and 6? im thinking of speedrunning the phase 3 parts to get the hoverpack and mk5 belts so i can really start building factories that im gonna wanna keep and not ugly temp ones
You are welcome to join us in #off-topic-general for shenanigans
About half the game
is there any official stance on why the belt tiers are so inconsistent btw ?
inconsistent?
soooo if i do build stuff based off mk5 belts i wont wanna tear them down 20 hours later
yeah but there's no real point using mk6 belts because factory carts have higher throughput
wait im not even halfway done??
Wdym
You won't, you keep it at mk5
The factory must expand
great to know ill lock in when i get them and try to make more permanent factories
No reason to touch old factories
you could just build as though you have mk6 belts already and turn on the remainder + upgrade belts when you actually unlock them 🤷♂️
my current factories for things like hmfs and computers dont really make enough for me to jsutify using them in another production line so i was gonna rebuild them once i got better miners but i suppose i can use them for depots then build my larger factories elsewhere
like I don't have mk5 belts when I build my first aluminum build I just pretend I do and upgrade as soon as I have a stack of alclad sheets
Phase 4 and 5 are really big.
You can rush the belts once you enter 5 if you wish
im bum rushing hoverpack i love jetpack but building things while wobbling around sucks 😭
agreed, my early builds are reasonably clean in recent saves but I only get serious about builds once I have the hoverpack
Well, have you heard of independency? 🙂
hoverpack + usually having a good amount of awesome shop unlocks by then makes it much more enjoyable to build stuff
my hmf only makes 3 unslooped and computers are 5 if i wanna account for putting some into depots for building thatd only really allow me to make 1ish acu/m with them i believe which would be nice for me rn i suppose but later i figure that wouldnt be enough to justify sending a train all the way from grasslands to where ever i need it
Build things near nodes, don't connect factories to factories, don't rebuild old stuff 🙂
Simple and time-efficient way to play
i see what ym now thank you this is something ill keep in mind movingg foward
im only really just now understanding trains so it really feels like im being freed from being trapped in the grasslands
Phase 4 really forces you into spreading out
The trains made me stay in my starting area even more lol
I started bringing my old stuff to my spawn
im very excited to im so sick of this fucking grassland 😭
I gotta send my cursed aluminum train to #screenshots
I started in the rocky desert so I’ve had a nice place to lay down a factory
Grasslands is good for learning the basics but yeah I’d leave it pretty soon
Who like gravity anyways
i wish i had i dont hate the grasslands but it just feels so boring compared to the rest of the world
since i have everything here going into storage and depots i can really expand out and not come back til i wanna use that huge crater for power
I didn’t save the picture I’ll show it off later
The purple forest and blue crater to the south east is nice the swamp to the far east is.... a thing.
blue crater my beloved
It also has a larger number of impure nodes so the production is smaller than other areas
Im honestly inclined to put my space elevator here at this point because i seem to be making everything in the blue crater these days
as if placing 300 fuel generators in it wasnt enough
whats up with the swamp?
spider
it wasnt really a issue til i got to around oil and wanted to make larger production chains
Its.... a fungal swamp. Full of fungus and spiders. It also has everything for babies first nuclear plant
soooo i should leave it til im ready for nuclear?
You should explore and make decisions based on what you find fun and inspiring
the spiders kinda spooked me but i wasnt really scared of them til i got jumpscared by one so bad i turned on arachnophobia mode and havnt turned it off since 😭
At least they attack everything not just the pioneer
yeah im loosley trying to plan a little far ahead like the reason i didnt do oil at blue crater is bcs i knew id wanna do a huge fuel plant there later anyways
150 nobelisks a minute sounds like a good number
big dawg gonna explode the entire map and some
oh dear LORD HAVE MERCY
Blue crater is perfect for nitro rocket fuel.
well, after i automate filters and iodine filters which surprise surprise, the blue crater happens to be the most convenient spot for me to manufacture them
I was fine until an absolutely massive one jumped at me while I was building my steel factory 😭😭 scared the fuck out of me
Straight to arachnophobia mode
yeah i saw someone build a huge fuel plant there and have been inspired ever since
Yeah that was me yesterday, I got the mod that straight removed spiders because I want achievements still and the cat replacement mode isn't better XD
Cat replacement is worse for some kek
in#screenshots message fuel
bro i was totally fine with stingers until i went to get the sam in the grassy fields as i was parachuting down the huge stinger jumped at me and genuinly scared me more than resident evil 7 ever did
big dawg got fuel to support Satisfactory 2 release save
I was building a train over the red forest and saw what looked like a giant RADIOACTIVE spider and NOPE NOPE NOPE GIANT PILE OF NOPE
omg the radioactive ones are so annoying 😭
I got better news for you, thats not even the largest variant
I’m bombing that stupid forest
this is the reason i am skipping both rocket and turbo fuel and going straight to nuclear
yo are you serious they get bigger?
are the radioactive ones bigger ive never been close to one
3 variants, smol, large, alpha
stingers are not radioactive, they do poison cloud tho'
Like props to them for the spiders because they're properly fucking terrifying but like....nah man I can't take it
bro i had a poison one chase me back to my hub before i even had the rebar gun it was so scary 😭
Do it like me. Overexposure. After going through half the map, my mind considered all spiders at least medium variant until I get TOO CLOSE to see them actually being smol kek
I just disable creature aggression
Nah I have like crippling phobia for that stuff, it's turned off
I think you might relate yourself to my experience 😄
Doesn't help for the spiders. They still skitter around and are super fast and make the noises even on passive
not fitting your pfp kek
genuine nightmare
I did this when my cat was sick and have yet to turn it back on lol
Next time I play I’m gonna spam radar towers around the map
we gonna find everything
2 stingers following me was indeed.. intense. And do you know what happened? The meme of rifle reloading 69 ammo instead of 20 happened and I was like "wow, you got me brother, lets do this!".
I just turned on arachnophobia mode.
Works for me just fine :D
If you do it methodically you can use radar towers for triangulation
Meow meow meow
I mean. That mode gave me ptsd. When I hear meows now, I freeze and wait to see a cat png pop up out of nowhere
Yeah I figured out they have the same range as a medium range map marker so I’m measuring out the right places
splitters on the top of lifts can have the input in the middle right? cant seem to get my splitter to rotate properly
Sometimes you have to scroll a few extra ticks before it actually moves
But yes they can
yeah ive been scrolling for a bit, but it wont actually rotate to the middle
never had that before
using sloops making phase 3 project parts a breeze all i gotta do is yap here for 30 more minutes and loosely monitor my scuffed setup
I try to avoid giving the electric companies more money then necessary.
Try exploring spiders are scarey but hard drives are worth it
early game exploring is great
fill your pockets with concrete and build ramps as needed
i did alot of exploring earlier in my run and got my hands on a ton of spheres sloops and drives but unfortunatley ive used and rescanned almost all of my drives </3
blade runners too
Zip lines !!!!
ziplining on powerlines my beloved
this one as well. Exploring via power tower placement and zipline is extremely easy and better than a jetpack until like ionized fuel or rocket fuel
Do y'all even bother with auto connect when placing railway blueprints? Mine wont let me stretch the tracks out far at all.
Autoconnect then nudge for max distance
Super effective for sky rails
So click once while its close then nudge away?
Or lock in place with H?
Figured it out thanks so much im building sky rails and this is even easier!
H hold, line up so the connector indicators are all green.
Click once to connect then nudge away
Or
Click once to connect then Hit h to release hold and move where you want to place and it will stay connected the way you locked it
i think its finally time i take down my old phase 1 factory 😭
Or leave it. Come back when you see the credits so you can compare how far you have evolved and grown
I never moved my space elevator so I saw the credits roll next to my mk 1 miners building wire and iron rods
I am getting a steam deck today. How is Satisfactory on the deck?
its a spaghetti mess i sloppily put tg lazily and ive reached around coal power before so i generally knew what i was doing i think a better representation would be my current factory making all my phase 2 resources that one i actually put alot of time and effort into making it efficient and clean and despite all that effort its honestly terrible but i only know that because of what making it taught me
Im told well.
how many tickets you need to buy all stuff in shop?
On windows absolutely.
On the default os of the steam deck no clue
1,895 tickets, thank you wiki
That’s not as bad as I thought it would be
I figured. I started my current playthrough with a lot of mods, so I might need to start a dedicated SteamDeck run
But 1,671 of those tickets are for special award things, with 1,000 of those being the golden nut
I’ve bought everything but the statues
So if you just want to unlock 3/4 inverted skate ramps it's only like 200 tickets
I only use skyui to help my eyes.
After 1000 I have much to do in vanilla still
Infinite nudge is a mod I can't live without
Im sure once I incorporate mods like that I will feel the same way. So I am resisting
I regret it now, since I can't finish my run on the deck but oh well
end goal is golden nut but thats along way away current goal is phase 3 which im very close to
i know golden nut wont be the end for me tho ill probably end up just doing it again
I’m going for all steam achievements for my first save
oh my gosh i did it, I'm finally to phase 4 after thons of manifolds
Then I’ll probably do modded or just different starting areas
pretty much the only mod I remember trying that I actually wish would be vanilla is some form of building curves using foundations
Don't think I've ever really done a manifold in my 500 hours
Should prob start to tho
At the very least I want the ability to nudge rotation while something is in held mode
I just enjoy the gameplay around BPs a lot more than what a lot of the "QoL" building mods offer
i feel like i dont use bps nearly enough
Same, I don't think I'd enjoy the smart build mod or whatever
I detest that you can't see the top of a power tower while you're holding the hologram and then can't rotate it
YEAH so many examples of that
you can definitely play the game without them but especially if you're doing repetive stuff or building a lot of things with decorations I think it's worth getting a feel for them
That’s crazy to me
It's not even like the keybinds overlap. Scroll just does nothing when in held mode and it could easily just rotate like it does normally lol
I rely on manifolds so much for my systems since I learned about them
you'll feel the difference with BPs a lot more when you're building larger scale stuff later game
how come there are no fuel bonuses for vehicles but there are for drones/jetpacks
Is there any way to decrease the server delay for items on belts?
ive hardly used them up until now but entering phase 4 esp wanting to make things prettier im def gonna need to use them ALOT more
Yea just never thought of setting machines up like that until I saw people talking about them on here.
Always just placed all my machines facing one direction, going from simple smelting at the start to very complex elevator parts at the end
Yeah I only had like two super basic building layout bps up through phase 3 but at the start of phase 4 when planning what I wanted to do, I just sat down and made like fifteen more lmao
I still need to make more but like, each production building in multiples of 2 4 8 etc. helps so much
I had to do it twice. As I came from early access and skipped the on boarding process
Slap down a block of machines, redo the belts as needed to group them correctly, done
would there be a way to have custom warning messages (sort of like the fuse blown message) so i can know if specific things go down?
Again, 1,600+ of those are collectibles with no function in the game
So if you're just trying to get the organization tools that's only 200 tickets
My preferred setup is always machines close together, usually it works out for most recipes. No manifold needed though a load balancer can be useful
(If that idea makes sense at all actually)
why versatile frameworks gotta be so painfull to make :<
i dont have anything making moduler frames at nearly enough throughput to satisfy that 1,000 needed :<
You only need 1000 total even if you make it at 2 per minute you’ll get there eventually
Is true but I wanna build factory
I only had one machine going when I got enough for the elevator
need more than that
I have to make 50k smart plates 🙂
Go hunt some animals and get the DNA capsules, you'll blast through the early tickets
Yeah but to start it’s fine
Yea I did that too
youre gonna hate hmfs bro
that doesnt even sound that bad tbh
if I had to guess, you're probably not using enough screws to make them
The entire game only requires 4,300 smart plates
He is doing a challenge run
Well modded
no its just that they take so damn long to craft
input isnt the issue
its space and how long they take
in that case you're probably not using enough factory carts to move stuff around
Again its self inflicted hence challenge run.
why would i be using factory carts??
hmf is the first "do you actually know what you're doing" check of the game imo lol
Tbh it still feels harder than stuff after like aluminum and whatnot. Cooling unit might be the next Big One though
I'm only making 45 hmf, I'll probably open a second factory in another biome.
I'm only making 11.25 and I'm planning to build another factory soon
to improve your versatile frame making experience
Nah it was forced on to me
on the good side i just finished milestone 4 so now i have nothing to procrastinate with :D
really gotta upgrade my power cus i have 80mw spare
This server makes me realize I’m the “make just enough of each part to make the bare minimum of the next one” player
Everyone else is making huge amounts of things I have like 5 per minute of lol
Yeah you're kind of screwed on the tickets
Once you hit the next phase you'll be able to get there but it's going to be a slow slow grind with only phase 1 parts
5/min of biosculptors is a lot
5/min modular engine at the start of phase 4
That’s slooped I think
honestly i hmfs were scary til it was time to make them i was going to make 10hmf/m but ended up cutting it to 3 bcs i dont need 10 rn and i was super high when i made my setup and was NOT trying to do allat but definitly couldve
I only make 5 concrete/min but I don't build foundations so it works for me
I waited twenty minutes to finish phase 3
I’m making like 120 concrete per minute just because I have the nodes at my base
@bleak valley who did the art of your avatar. At first glance I thought it was SPiNDLE
It is just being sinked and depot
hmfs is literally everything youve done in phase 2 except one factory mixing at the end
I don’t actually know my partner sent me this to match let me check the image
i just realised that those 2 holes in the grass plains are the perfect spot for a missile silo
I nudged my elevator to the bottom of the big hole
There wasn’t any watermark but image searching led me to a Twitter user called “kaido_sakura”
Ty ill look into it.
This is ultimate chad behaviour - I also haven't even unlocked foundations... though I might need to because I think I need walls soon for a special project
How come this server doesnt have voice channels?
Okay, thats one part of the plan towards nukes completed
I'm not 100% sure but I think I remember a long while ago they mentioned not wanting to moderate them
oh I see
thats a little bit annoying
I made 11.75 because of the encased frame recipe and because it made the number of machines more even than the other options without weird clocking nonsense xD
ngl power storage should be made from batteries and not stators cause lowkey theyre useless now that drones dont need them no more
cause why the hell would i be transporting alumina solution
Make batteries at the aluminum plant and have a drone network sending batteries to your other drone ports
(or just use fuel but yah this is a way to make it work and you're probably doing similar with fuel too)
Before I start making my first attempt at adding a second floor to a location to keep it all a bit more compact, what's a good ballpark in terms of height so I don't run into future "Oh now this building clips through the ceiling" issues? Obviously I don't expect to fit in Coal generators there, but for most other production
old school battery recipe still exists
also theres better drone fuel than batteries :p
i saw it on my hard drive search which is why i thought of it
because it reminded me at how useless batteries are
which feels very wrong considering... theyre yk... batteries?
8 walls tall fits a refinery, and subdivides into 4, which fits all the other normal buildings
Very doable, thanks!
8walls = 32 meters if that helps ^-^
yeah the numbers were horrendous
i just settled with 3 insteado of 2.65 whatever
is there a channel where i can post screen shots of things and talk
Math and meta might work
#screenshots is for general "hey look at this cool screenshot" sharing. #1038092680493801533 is for general-purpose questions. #design-and-architecture or #math-and-meta can be used too, if the question/discussion is appropriate for one of those channels
Yup, #math-and-meta and #design-and-architecture pick what it closest relates too
thank you sometimes i just have screen shots of stupid shit i run into 😭
Also: "weird clocking nonsense" is just "playing the game" after awhile. You'll get used to non-whole-numbers. They don't bite. Clocking is life, etc. :D
Im at 126 hours this run. I still have modular engines to do before moving on.
I still need to decorate my ACU factory too
40 hours and literally just sent up phase 3 parts i was gonna make factories for acus and engines but i figured id save the decorated and better thought out factories and what not for after i have mk5 belts and the hoverpack
I can't leave this as a building frame.
Ill likely not turn on the game until I decided how im going to decorate it.
it already looks pretty cool tbh especially compared to the concrete slabs ive used until now 😭
I built it in sections the arches are part of the ore refinement complex. Im happy with that. When that was done I made the building for part processing. Thats what is in need of decor
factory carts?
you will pry my nice round whole numbers from my COLD DEAD HANDS
I'll cave eventually it's just a matter of when
then I'm stumped what could be missing 🙁
i can always just clock one machine to a specific number when needed but is there no other option?
ahh so you need a bigger skate park then
see this is the problem with youtubing!
besides all the other stuff that wrong with it
You don't have to clock your machines directly fwiw. If you don't mind machines occasionally going idle, just "round up" to the nearest whole unit of machine
The system will even out and be producing the same amount anyway
thats true it is a bit easier to deal with that tbh
But yeah, if you want 100% machine uptime, in the end you're just gonna have to resign yourself to clocking stuff. By the time you get to Phase 4+5 parts the ratios are just too different
ahh yeah that kind of puts a cap on how much epic you can squeeze in
(You could still get to whole-numbers with sufficient investment in Least Common Denominator type thinking and scaling up production to suit, but you're likely gonna end up with factories that are way bigger than you want to build)
that's time for the tutorial + a couple medium sized vanity projects maybe
IMO it's no easier (or harder). If you've got a factory plan which says you need 3.6 assemblers, you've got that number sitting right in front of you.
I suppose I must acknowledge that it is technically more work to go in and set one to 60% than it is to Not Do That, but it's a trivial difference
I heard those people don't call their mom on mother's day. You probably shouldn't be following their example
But there are certainly those who don't bother with clocking at all. :)
you should ambush her with a 4am call this year
If i have two mk1 belts carrying 60 ore going into a merger, does it only matter that the belt from the merger onwards is mk2?
i mean in the sense of its easier to clock smth to 60% than 57.8999 or whatever for every single item youre making
This is precisely what I have been doing and it's starting to become A Problem lmfao
But I like thinking big and planning big so I'm still enjoying it
Hah, yeah, you can only do it so long before things start to get infeasible. :D
But so long as you're having fun, that's the main thing. :)
Yeah now I've shifted to finding how much I can maximize out of the least common resource node I have reasonably available (eg produce as much as I can out of 1800 bauxite, 600 crude, etc.
I'm gonna build a metric overkill amount of plastic rubber and aluminum and then figure out how much I need to ship out for supercomputer, radio control unit, and cooling unit
Still haven't decided on how many of those 3 I want to produce yet....
The ratios of those get truly crazy
how do i tell satisfactory calculator that i dont have converters
Untick sam
Is there a way to manually flip switches on railways?
thank you
Turn off the sam resource
which one?
using satisfactory tools i got it done tho
untick the converter?
i didnt realize you could do that with machines and resources tbh jst recipies
tbf ive been trying to avoid using it tm to get used to logistics in general since this is my first factory game
sftools seems much more user friendly is modeler more detailed?
Modeler lets you do things manually and tools is a solver
Different use cases, I use them both
use the username not the nickname
basically the reason it's so low quality is cause the previous version of it that I made (for Minecraft create mod players) was on my old phones so I just downloaded the previous post I made rather than remaking it
Is it fine to ask questions here btw or should i post a thread in #1038092680493801533?
Questions in here are just fine, though if your question would benefit from inlined images, or you expect it might get in-depth, #1038092680493801533 can be better
If its a simple binary question here is fine. If it complex or may need a complex answer #1038092680493801533
Cool here goes one then 😄
I dont have smart splitters. Im planning a tractor route and there are going to be two load points: one with pure coal and one with pure iron. So initial plan was to have one route and pick up from both places in the same route, but without smart splitters i cant separate the two different materials once the route is complete. So what if i have two different routes and have the coal one supply fuel for the drop off station so that the noncoal one can refuel there?
Yep, that's a very common thing to do really. Being able to use coal for vehicle fuel in the game is quite nice
When you've got two stations next to each other, btw, remember that it's far easier to make them "drive through" bays rather than having them in a line
'cause vehicles will naturally stop at any loading zone they happen to get close enough to
until you realise the trucks collide with eachother and send eachother flying if they arrive at the same time
Theoretically if i have both routes take the exact same time and time them correctly, it should be fine? Or can the routes take varying time when they are automated?
So like something like: ```
+---+ +---+
| | | |
| |====[] | |====[]
| | | |
| | | |
+---+ +---+
^ ^
| |
--------/---------------/
Vehicles coming in from the left (just as an example; obvs they wouldn't have to be coming from that direction), and then they "drive through" the separate bays
I practically never see vehicle collisions, and when I do they've always self-corrected pretty quickly
#screenshots message okay, smokeless powder and nobelisks done, now i gotta automate fabric, gas filters and iodine infused filters next
ah damn ascii 😄 thanks. Though i was planning on a single drop off station with the load ones being very far apart
and off to go make infused uranium cells i go
ASCII Über Alles
one day i will bother to properly decorate this, but i think it looks pretty as is :D
ASCII?
i like the use of german after using an acronym where the A is for american :p
Me =>
Haha I just realized you can disable specific machines with Tools
Nah I'm not old, I'm just not young anymore either
do i have to put railways on my blueprint so i can auto connect to see the distant per railway?
I can still run and sleep on bare rock, I have few physical complaints
Live fast, die young, and leave a good lookong corpse.
I'm to old now to die young
chronologically advanced
lol true
its a meme bro, don't take it seriously 👍
Tbf name checks out
@graceful oriole trains do not care about the landscape if you can lay the track through a mountain it'll pass through.
yes i noticed that already, just this one looked funny. i still normally build around obstacles ... just in case they add physics for trains
I think they used to and it was taken away. I suspect it shall not return now that we are in full release
trucks do have physics. and no idea if trains did in past, i play only since u8
I played before they raised the water level. But I can't place when so I just say u7
spent a hour building tracks bcs i swear i took THE MOST inconvient path to get this bauxite over to my quarts 😭
Okay, time to make 50 filters of each kind a minute
then i decided to put the stations 100m in the air so getting the bauxite anywhere after is a pain in the ass too
And then I'll be good for the infused cells part :D
i'm now building track from hightest point of map to my starter base 😄
Bauxite to quartz? What are you trying to make
trying to get a small aluminum factory running so i can get hoverpack and mk5 belts its becoming alot more trouble than its worth due to my 0 planning
Ohhhhhhh you need the silica
yeah
Highly recommend sloppy alumina and pure aluminium
those alt recipies?
Honest to god itd save you a lot of the trouble
Yeah, it's the combination that removes silica entirely from the aluminium process
r u srs
Yes
😭
This is why it helps to do research prior to committing to a plan :P
yeah i literally didnt plan at all i thought itd be a easy quick small factory
Excellent truck station diagram. Just think of how many factory carts a double layer like that could handle!
If you have resource well extractors which I doubt you have at this stage there's an oil node in the red forest you can use for petroleum coke that you can further use to make electrode scrap
It's slightly more efficient than using the base scrap recipe
In terms of more scrap anyway
In fairness I also just put together a quick aluminum factory to get the milestones and start generating plates and casings without being optimal about it
The lake to the northwest of the crater lake has all the resources reasonably nearby
is there any convient place to do this ill make a proper aluminum setup later but rn i jst need a little bit but everything is SO far
Yeah, my first aluminum plant is generally pretty quick+dirty
Having the realisation of "oh I need more aluminium stuff" was so annoying I made a mega factory in the red forest that saps all the bauxite and coal in the biome
Just enough to get those sheets filling up while I go hard drive hunting. :)
Produces like 2000 casings/min pre MK3 miners
Yeah lake to northwest of crater lake. It's a bit to belt in the coal but it's got bauxite, copper, and quartz
I am NOT looking forward to expanding it to account for MK3 miners
thank you thats a much more convient location
Look forward to it! Just think of how much fun you'll have
I am having more fun trying to automate nukes
i was trying to train my bauxite right over the quartz idk how i didnt notice that
So I can bomb this planet for all the fauna and flora it has
i keep finding lizard doggos and ACCIDENTALLY HITTING THEM BECAUSE IDK WHAT THEY ARE FROM BEHIND
Why expand? Just split the miner output and make a new factory. :) Can put it like literally right next to (or on top of) the existing factory, but making new is generally less work than trying to upgrade/expand
Because all of the bauxite in the red forest are concentrated into the same belt highway, and it'd make it more convenient in terms of getting the coke over rather than having to add more drone ports
Still sounds like you could avoid the pain of upgrading by simply Not Doing That™. :)
Tbf I belted all the coal into a single highway and then realised "oh, coke is better" so there's like 6 belts full of coal just sitting there waiting to be used
Don't upgrade the belt highway; just build the new stuff where it's needed, etc. :)
The nodes I circled in screenshots is enough to process 600 bauxite with sloppy alumina recipe and normal aluminum ingot recipe. Can adjust amounts for your recipes ofc
then don't do that
Anyway, indeed, if you're bent on centralization then upgrading is presumably one of the prices you must pay!
Might use them for diamond later
tyy i wont be using that much tbh not nearly making very tiny setup
But know that you are kind of doing it to yourself. There's never a need to upgrade anything; you can always just split off the miner outputs and build new instead
Can I unload and load items on a drone? and control how much of everything it picks up so its equal between 3 resources?
Well I'm gonna use a lot of plates for mk5 belts everywhere so i was fine making the first setup like this. Good practice for later too. But I will probably leave that factory just going into the depot for a long while
yeah i plan to let it build up while i build a bigger power plant probably
I will choose to do it anyway because it is easier for me, doesn't mean it's any less painful, besides I don't have to worry about it yet, 2000 casings/min is plenty for what I need right now
Guys mega spoilers for the new update but 1.1 will turn into 1.2 in the update 🤯
Drones have an internal cargo capacity of 9 stacks; unless you're dealing with pretty low-throughput transfers, they're not great for "sushi" deliveries
You can't really control what they pick up, per se. They'll pick up stacks from the port's input area -- don't recall if they take from the "start" or the "end" of the avialable stacks
so id need ultiple drone landing zones for each item?
But if you do want to use sushi for drones, it's the same rule as using sushi with any other bulk-delivery system: make sure that you've got it built out such that the cargo bay on the ports is completely cleared out, and make sure you have sufficient buffering on the receiving side (ie: ISCs after each smart-splitter sort)
Maybe? Depends on your situation. You can do sushi with drones.
You could try to do it in one using priority mergers, but it'll be tricky
But if it's your first time trying to handle sushi deliveries in bulk, I'd maybe recommend just keeping it to one item per drone. Drone cargo size is awfully small
It would certainly make things easier
Otherwise you'd have to be kinda careful about how much you're sending to the drone station, and have some smart splitters whereever it offloads
It's be a lot more complex looking than just using three drone ports
true ill just do that
thanks
Once you're used to it, sushi deliveries honestly aren't bad -- smart splitters, overflow, and ISC buffering is pretty trivial to set up once it's under your fingers. The key is making sure that there's never a point where the receiving port gets "backed up;" you've gotta be overflowing to sink and having buffers after the sorting so that one item can't "hold up" another
(Once the system's stabilized you should basically never see anything getting sunk, but it's nice to have the backup)
But yeah, with drones' limited cargo size, I wouldnt' recommend playing around with sushi for the first time with them
Trains or vehicles tend to be a lot more flexible for sushi
oh yeah I know, I just wanted to explain myself
That said, if you're talking like single-digit/min throughputs, drone sushi is entirely viable. :)
trains are gonna make me go insane
theyre so big and the tracks turns are so huge i cant figure out where to put them without putting a giant concrete slab in the sky blocking out the sun
#design-and-architecture forgot i cant embed anything
nevermind i guess i cant send it anywhere
Is it a good idea to use tractors for my reinforced iron plate farm before I start on my coal plant?
Definitely time-consuming if you want 'em to look good. You can definitely snake them through the geography, though: #screenshots message
There are good blueprints for managing it in the satisfactory blueprints tab
i tried to send it but i cant send it in any channel
You can honestly get Pretty Good™ results by just doing a "disconnected pillar" design
theres a blueprints tab?
website
Have esentially just one pretty good-looking pillar blueprint with some rails attached, and auto-connect that around your map
(I'll also have variants which are on 1m ramps for doing inclines and such)
ill have to check this site out
A lot less work (in vanilla, anyway) than building foundations and such underneath, and the pillars are, for me, plenty Good Enough in terms of realism
ive heard people get irritated with the auto connect but i havnt had a chance to use it yet
There's also some mods which can help out building nice curved foundations under your rails
want me to just dm you it or just tell you the name so you can find it?
if you tell me the name i can find it
Heh, I actually still haven't played since v1.0, so I haven't built out any rail networks with the auto-connect. It honestly wasn't bad even without, with rails on the "pillar" blueprints
website called satisfactory blueprints
thank you 🙏
the one i am trying to show you is called double pillar tall
there is also medium and short for different heights
i feel like ive just found a chest full of gold
what phase are you up to?
i only just got into phase 4 earlier today
thats pretty good
some of these blueprints are insane
wait do you mean in phase 4 working on phase 5 or in phase 3 working on phase 4
in phase 3 working on phase 4
have you unlocked fuel power then?
yup
my fuel setup rn isnt great im gonna make a huge plant probably once i get a better fuel source which will hopefully be soon
skip turbofuel
some may disagree but in my opinion turbofuel is overrated and you should go straight to rocket fuel
Eh I have some turbofuel going mainly because I didn't have the diluted fuel recipe for a while. If I need more before getting rocket fuel I'll make some diluted fuel plants.
But idk if I like the whole skip straight to rocket because rocket takes a WHILE, you need to finish every milestone except nuclear power for it
If you get the diluted fuel sure stick to it but I don't feel like turbo was a waste at all
Does anyone here have the brain to help me with my nuclear powerplant train logistics?
Dammit, I built a power storage blueprint, but I can't possibly have enough inventory to actually plop it 😆
I dont understand signals at all
imm talking about if you rely on your turbofuel plant it would be hard to tear it down without building a NEW power plant to support it
Yeah, Turbo Fuel's not a waste, but if you have the HOR+Diluted recipes (and/or don't mind searching for 'em) then Diluted is more "bang for your buck" so to speak. (Of course you could always do both)
I mean isn't that true of every power plant
Like you'll have to rework the fuel plant into the rocket fuel plant too
only rely for fuel recipes because coal and nuclear dont have an upgrade
The main "problem" with Turbofuel as power is that there's only a few spots on the map that have all of oil+sulfur+coal in the same spot, so it can be a bit inconvenient. I wouldn't personally seek out sulfur for Turbofuel power -- if you're doing that, you may as well just go HD hunting instead. :)
(That's also technically a "problem" for Rocket Fuel too, but the gains from RF make it much more "worth it")
You can get Rocket Fuel a bit earlier by finding the Nitro Rocket Fuel alt recipe, btw. Lets you use it more or less at the same point you're unlocking Uranium
I think this one is the way tbh. I didn't have either of those recipes until like, yesterday, well past the point of getting into t4. If I had waited I would have been running into power limits for a while or my previous power plant would have been like 3x the size using an inefficient fuel setup.
So I decided to just go with turbo in blue crater lake and it's served me super well
It's a bit weird that the alt recipe for RF is available before the actual vanilla recipe is viable
Yeah, I've never regretted setting up Turbofuel power, when I've done it. :D
After all, power's power. :)
WOWOWOW satisfactory on sale
!!
I'm on something like 30gw and I'm honestly contemplating setting up a massive stack of diluted fuel plants again....
I kinda don't want to rush rocket fuel because I wanna take my time with all the milestones. Although I might try to fish for the recipe instead...
if you have blenders for diluted fuel wouldnt it just be better to use a better fuel source atp?
uhh can someone just check the thing i dropped in screenshots rq ty
Yeah either just use diluted fuel for now or fish for the nitro recipe and use that
genuinely these train stations are too big
soo... i stop it flying?
No tou gotta mount it to pet it
They are big. Which is a good reason to use other means within a distance of your choosing. I prefer belts and vehicles inside a biome
do yall use instant scrap to get rid of quartz from production chain?
you lose like 25% production or something though?
please help I am on steam deck I am trying to join a friends server but when I type in the ip and press a to confirm it doesn’t go through because the cursor thing location is on the ip
It is common. Although I believe it produces less scrap
genuinely don’t know what to do
Where do you segest stuff
You can send Questions, Feedback, Suggestions, and Bug Reports
https://questions.satisfactorygame.com
<3 @sterile blade
well its the ingot recipe, but yeah it loses out on 25% of ingots from the scraps
WAIT
im dumb, sorry. I meant pure ingot
Have you search #1038092680493801533
yeah theyre large enough to where i might just build a huge train hub for each area then use trucks or belts from there if i try building a whole station for each factory that would be pretty tedious
the instant scrap makes about 10% more aluminum scrap
i dont have blenders though, need a basic factory first
jst doing another push pull bcs i cant be bothered figuring out how im gonna fit 2 lines near my aluminum rn 😭
idk bro I don’t see nothing genuinely the problem is a doesn’t work after I enter the ip
Does the any steam deck player have this problem
last question (for now) would you recommend processing oil at the node then move the products? Or move the oil with a train and process on site?
I obviously dont have it memorized. I always just take stock of the resources I have and choose the recipe that fits best. Ive personally never used more then 50% of the worlds aluminum so maxing output has never been a goal
All trains are beautiful
not mine... trust me
be kind to yourself (and make more trains)
they will be beautiful but theyre not now
need me that hoverpack before anything else
I recommend not moving fluids unless you need to.
Same with solid parts mind you.
The two products I personal transport distances are aluminum and oil byproducts
how do people make angled train tracks look so nice? mine always have weird humps in them
why aluminum?
Vertically?
well i guess vertically?
oops, responded to wrong message.
Aluminum Ingots and Rubber/Plastic are two things which are often quite convenient to produce en masse right near their extraction sites, and then send out as-needed
My playstyle is to process one whole node of bauxite at a time. If I need more process another.
