I just used my friends lol
What is the best way to get biofuel fast
Only option for you rn is to run around and grab leaves
Oof
I just made 25 portable miners
How do I delete a building
did you skip the tutorial (onboarding)?
No But I forgot
F
the keybinds are in the bottom right
or under each menu
portable miners have to be picked up, they can't be dismantled
Is there a way to find pure ores
Ohhh thatβs why
If recommend exploring rather than just looking up locations
My backpack full raaaaaa
the scanner notifies you of where to find ores, then you just hvae to go there and find out if they're pure
Oh
i'm in the north east corner of the map and i can see particles of a purple slug inches below the sand but idk if its bugged or if there is supposed to be a cave that is not shown on the satisfactory interactive map
but there's no general need to find pure ores
you can just mine double as many normal ores instead
and at the start of the game you only need iron which is pretty plentiful
I have so much ores
Cuz I placed 10 portable miners on each deposit
then you definitely don't need to find a pure one ;p
Lol
(3790,-2745)
the only advantage of pure deposits is that they mine faster
Is the portable miner even effected by purity?
For portable miners, the trick is to drop a heck of a lot of them on the same node.
It will fit 10 easily, a hell of a lot more if you don't mind them getting crowded.
Early game, drop a few on your iron and copper nodes so you don't walk for just a single stack.
I am putting 10 on the same deposit
And am new
Or go the biomass route and immediately smelt them ofc.
I figured as much. Don't worry, we get a lot of new players in here all the time.
Every question you have, we've seen before.
When will game become fun
Am at hub tier 5
Don't bother perfecting your setup in the early game. You will rebuild it completely later on π€£
I wanna make big factories like this
What does the train do in the game I saw it in game trailer
Phase 2.
Best to start small. Unlock things along the way, and the factory will naturally grow
The phases start after you've completed the hub.
What does train do in this game
Once you have coal, that's when the real factory building begins.
Phase 3 is where the Trains get unlocked, and they're effectively a belt extender
Transporting you and resources.
Oh lol
How many upgrades to reach phase 0
I think there's 6 HUB upgrades.
After the 6th upgrade, the space elevator unlocks.
Am at upgrade 6 now yay
Almost there then.
Yes the space elevator shows
Lol my backpack so full with items
And I just started am not even returning to the deposits
Now you will unlock all the basics in Tier 1 and 2. The Coal powered generator is in Tier 3, which requires completing phase 1 of the space elevator. Takes 50 smart plating. If you unlock the chainsaw in Tier 2, you can absolutely automate this while you power everything with biomass. Or you rush through. Your choice.
I looked up turbofuel and it needs compacted coal, when I checked my codex I found coal+sulfur but it says alternate recipe. is there another default recipe?
Remember you've unlocked storage containers. Sort and store your items in there if necessary.
Yes I will place some
You'll unlock more inventory slots along the way.
This game is so sick
My dad bought me it on new year
He said Iβll love it
Am at tier 1 now
Take your time. This is a game where at 20 hours in you just got yourself started.
You can always try again and improve what you've made.
Every building you make can be deconstructed for the original materials.
Can I stack portable miners over each other
No
Stack? No. Clip them into each other partway? Yes.
Remember that you still got to smelt everything though. At some point, you're better off putting a miner and smelter on it and walking for fuel instead.
It will fit a lot, like here. And this is with the middle section unused, where you can put at least as many.
I have 3000 raw
π
Eventually you will automate basically everything.
When do i unlock Christmas calendar
Eh, it should be in your hub to the right of your terminal.
Should be in the Hub. Unlocking the tree, take gifts to the MAM
Should I craft biomass
anyone can help me with a limestone pure farm?
It's the beginning power source, I would say yes.
Personally I'm in favour of rushing to coal, but life is easier if you craft at least some biomass and smelt things in a smelter.
Im up to like 5 days with out blowing a fuse lol, i feel so proud of myself.
Miner, smelter, storage container catching the iron. A constructor making rods out of it helps a lot already, you're going to need a lot of rods and plates.
Just ask your question or explain your issue. Then people will know wether they can help or not ^^
How to align stuff
There's lines helping out when buildings are close enough. Once you have foundations unlocked, you can use the world grid.
K
How did I get cat helmet huh
Im very mucha newbie but if you have pure limestone, access to a level 2 miner, and over clocking, your level 2 miner should put out like 600 limestone a min, i feel like youd have to use some serious construction machine numbers to process 600 limestone a min
I might be wrong but i feel that should be all the limestone you would ever need haha
Just wait till tier 3~ and beyond
What is production packer deluxe minigame
Effectively tetris, but provides no achievement for beating it.
Where do I use presents
im in the process of automating the parts for stage 3, i have all the tier 5 and 6 milestones, i have one limestone machine tier 2 normal quality and i cant find any use for half the concrete im making lol
Again, im a newbie though.
MAM to start, then Constructors, Smelters, Assemblers, and Foundry
Awe cmon don't do tetris like that
You sure have a lot of questions
thx, I solved it
What is mam
Material Analysis Machine, its one of the first things you unlock with milestones
Am confused
When you build it, DONT NEGLECT IT, i did for the first like 20 hours of my game and then someone told me to get to work on it and i now deeply regreted ignoring it for so long lol
How do I know if I have it
And how do I get achievement
It will be in your "special" tab of your building menus
Most of the things you'll learn if you just keep playing. Or if you experiment with it. It's better to see how it works in-game anyway imo
It will be in the tab with your HUB and space elevator and stuff
I feel like the harddisk research is endless, ive spent...i feel like at least 50 hard disks and im still getting new options lol
I MADE MY FIRST AUTOMATION
108 through harddisk research
Not entirely sure if that includes the extra inventory slots or not.
108?!!!! HOld cow, im not near the end.
I'm pumping water to a second floor using a pipeline floor hole then using a pump at the top snapping to the max headlift snap of the bottom one and the bottom one stays around 21/22 but it seems to be pumping and keeping all the pipe on the second floor full anyway?
Hmm. Pipeline or rail from my crude oil nodes to my base?
Smells like a headlift issue, but you can flush the pipe and see if that helps.
shouldn't the second pump help the headlift of the bottom one?
Is it powered?
ye both are
Are they spaced out correctly?
second pump is 5.8m
Is the part where you put the pump filled up completely? Otherwise it's pumping air.
Im thinking of going a differnt direction with my factory though, I know this is a game about automation but im having trouble keeping my machines straight and what does what so i think im going to just quadrouble my base parts production and have a row of assemblers and manufactors with empty cargo containers feeding into them so when i need something i just fill up the containers manually and let em empty into the assemblers and manufactuers.
mk2 pumps are a little bugged and need to be slightly below where the snap point is
ye I used the snap feature
it shows the blue headlift snap area for the lower pump
mk1 pumps work as expected
Doing that for space elevator parts makes sense, doing it for all other parts... Will tire you out.
I'm pumping it from a fluid buffer but it is filled 250/400
Hmm, you have a fair point...maybe i should do that just for the space elevator parts.
Horizontal or downhill, take a pipeline. Anything else, rail or don't move it at all. Instead, process it locally.
Thats the only thing in my way right now, is stage 3 parts
Ok. Follow up question - how do I get from my base to all this processing in a timely manner?
using a mk1 pump currently isit the same case?
Come back once it's filled. Pumps are absolutely unreliable if the system isn't full.
Buffers don't always do what you think they do either.
Better yet don't use fluid buffers
Fluid buffer are best used with Trains. Try to make sure all your fluid systems have the same production and demand amount. Let the producers fill the line first too
Fluid dynamics for dummies (AKA: read this first) https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/File:Pipeline_Manual.pdf
You mean traveling to auxiliary and off sight locations? Trains, vehicles or my personal favorite, HYPERTUBE
I figure if I need to run anything 2 km, it would be a train, but what do I know, right?
With whatever you got available. Walking, tractors, trucks, explorer, hypertube, jetpack, hoverpack.
ye I've matched the produciton and demands exactly idk if I need more production than demand or if I might just not need a buffer I'm puming fuel from a refiner to a buffer then up to a manifold into 2 fuel powered gens
Also the blade runners you can research from the quarttz line are must haves lol
I have those, but they only help so much.
Blade runners and xenoblade, don't go exploring without them π
You never need a buffer (apart from train platforms)
In the end for transport of materials, do what works best for you.
Me personally? i cheat. I run or hyper tube to locations i need to get to but when i need to get back to my home factory i just respawn lol
Is faffing around with the polymer resin alt recipe worth it for rubber or plastic?
You could also use my pipeline manual, it's better than the current pipeline manual trust
#satisfactory-memes message
If it's a 60/min miner, yea.
Are there more generators after the coal burner thingy
"Worth" depends on you only
Fuel burning and nuclear. Pretty sure geothermal is in there somewhere too
Coal is just the beginning. Plenty more power options later.
Aw man
if you don't have diluted fuel/recycled plastic/rubber then residual is next best probably
Geothermal is free energy, exploring half the map just to put geothermals down is good sport. Made easier if you unlock the hoverpack first.
Phase 2 (coal), 3 (oil), and 4 (nuclear/rocket fuel) all come with new power options
Although i definatly am not doing things the recommended or effecient way, i have all of my needed resources being piped in or conveyed in, some from very long distances lol
I've just noticed it appears to be very good for producing lots of rubber, is rubber going be widely used in the later phases of the game?
And as long as it works, that's all valid.
So I spent like 4 hours trying to make my stuff all nice and eventually I'll have to ditch it?π
technically phase 5 has ionised fuel but it's terrible
You don't have to ditch it, but it will not be very relevant
Blowing up
Exacrly, the benefit is, im only pipeing in pure nodes so even though its coming from a long way, all my miners and extractors are overclocked so the amount coming in is substantial lol
Kind of, but you're not going to use all of it at the same place and a lot of it depends on how much other alternate recipes you want to use.
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Rubber See the usage list for yourself.
How does a conveyor splitter work
One input 3 output
1 in, 3 out.
Slowpolk:bleh:
If you want to split into 4, use 3 splitters.
I want 2 out of 3 out tho
Then don't use the middle one.
Thats ok, just dont use the third output
honestly, don't think "I may need this in the future", just build what you need now and leave later problems for later
If you want anything that's not a 50/50 split, you can get up to all kinds of trickery with splitters. But if you just want to get 4 lanes for your smelter, use 3 splitters. Split the main lane into two, then split both new lanes into two (thus 4).
or just manifold
Fair enough
TO be honest 95% of my splitters only use two out of three outputs lol
I think the only splitters i have that use all three is my mall of resources because the middle one feeds stuff down the line and the sides go into my basic parts automation lol
That would absolutely work here, yea. That's still taking you 3 splitters though π
could take just two
Smart and Programmable Splitters are also later unlocks
| |
->-S--S
| |
Beginners don't have that, don't overcomplicate it π
I keep seeing the term manifold, and ive seen videos of it, I think im using a manifold...but for some reason im not a hundred percent sure if what i have is called a manifold
My phrasing is intentional later unlocks are the key words.
That will balance out soon enough, yea. Fair.
Make a screenshot or a diagram and we'll tell you π
manifold is usually just line of splitters, each splitting to one (or two) machines
though manifold in general is practically anything that relies on filling machines to overflow the rest
Balancers are where the math gets tricky.
Ill send a screeen shot in a moment but basically I have a line of stacked converyers down the middle, Level 1 is iron ingots, 2 is copper ingots, 3 is steel, 4 is caterium ingots and so on and so forth. On both sides of the stacked belts i have machines that pull resources from the "shelf" of resources as i call it using conveyer lifts, the lifts put those resources into machines, those machines go to assemblers/manufacts, these are like branches of the main tree, and then the final product is dumped into containers. I believe that meets the defination of manifold?
Looked in the screenshots channel for a manifold. The splitters at the bottom in the pic #screenshots message
I like how I mostly found spaghetti though
I have a perfect example posted now
You've definitely played Factorio, based on the setup idea.
Whoβs an expert in this game
Yes lol.
Mildly vexxing that steel is produced at 59.85/m at 133% overclockage
But, eh, close enough to being a full belt!
As long as you deal with powers of 2 and 3, not that much.
is it normal for the lowest punp to have a 20/21 headlift when theres a second pump higher at the snap point
Its my like 5th rebuild, the progression unlocks are so game changing eveyr time i unlock a new tier im able to remove like half my machines lol
But if you want to do things like 20/80, yea, first time is a bit tricky.
Doable though.
Solid Steel Ingot alt recipie will output 60/min from a single foundry
No Overclocking
Oh, that's wonderful...
For now, I'm quite happy just having 120 irn+coal going into 2 producing ~60/m
It'll be enough for phase 2!
Solid Steel also takes Iron Ingots and Coal at a rate of 40/minute each too.
Get to phase 2 first, optimize later π
50% more Steel for an extra smelting step
I'm quite happy to just tear everything down per stage of the game, honestly!
Definitely not the worst plan π
idk headlift says exceeded all pipes are full and the system works completely so I assume its just a visual bug?
you can exceed headlift by a small amount without losing functionality
I say if it ain't broke don't fix it
so I wouldn't worry overly much about that
While the Factorio style setup can get you started, I would recommend transporting only what you need to assigned mini-factory
Around 10%, don't rely on it.
mines 21.5 I have a pump at the top snapped all pipes are full still stays at 21.5 so idk but I mean its working fine
i think i might end up doing that. I think long term factory im going to build out over the ocean near my the rocky desert oil spots where my fuel generators are. i can build out over the ocean and have unlimited build space pretty much, then i will turn my current factory into just mass producioon of basic things, from there the terrain is pretty level out to the ocean so setting up a train to go back and forth shouldnt be TOO terrible.
Gysers are ONLY used for power generation right?
Yes, put a geothermal generator on it.
Throw a handful power storages around to deal with the fluctuation.
The more i think about it, i think im going to do is invert my factory, have my dimensional storages in the middle, industrial storages linked to those, and part makers emptying into them so i can mass produce things i need to feed into assemblers and manufactors manually so so i can worry about my space elevator progress lol
Once you have automated encased industrial beams and modular frames, they're cheap.
o? I have never used this BECAUSE of this, I never like how my power was all over the place and not in a nice straight line
First of all, it's free power. So even if you only use the minimum they'll always provide, it's FREE POWER.
Second of all, you can buffer the rest π
My fuel generators are all off sight near my oil puddles, and its an ugly set up but my logic is if i dont have to look at it the spaghettia wont bother me
Geothermal generators have a minimum value they produce. They will not go under it.
So that bit is stable and reliable at least.
You either like it straight or wavy
Yea this is true, but the fluctuation in my power grid bothers my ocd pretty bad so i have never used them XD
From what ive heard you guys talk about geothermal power would be great for hooking up to miners and stuff and keeping the grid seperate from your main power that way if your main power goes down your miners stay functional
That's what you have priority switches for later in the game.
If you never use more power than you have, you'll never see a fuse blow.
Use power storage if you're afraid that will happen.
or just use some power storage and look at the midpoint of the wave
Ive been playing off and on since update 4 and JUST learned about this on my current new run lol
As others have mentioned, Priority Power Switches are the best solution for making sure your power-generation stuff stays online, and many folks do like building out Power Storage backups as well. The main drawback to having an isolated Geothermal grid is just connecting all the geothermals up; the wiring can get a bit annoying
I may have....a....a...a few power storage containers...just...a couple...i swear...I am running mostly on fuel generators but i have my old coal generators still hooked in incase i need to switch them on...but really...i know i can dismantle and remove them and be fine....
I've often thought that I wanted to go connect up all the map's geothermal "underground" and have an isolated grid to run trains + tubes off of, but it's kind of an annoying amount of work for not much gain. :D
The wiring would get abysmal.
I mean...20 power storages is just a handful in the grand scheme of things right?
I never took the time to figure out how to use priority switches properly, but I never really needed them
Well i guess that means ima try and work in this geothermal in the middle of my fuel generator plant, I will try out what u said, I was contiplating just coverign it
I haven't tried a global grid but I've done smaller ones that can be nice for making your fuel generating machinery impossible to lose power and then it won't need a reset if you blow the power grid
Power storage and priority switches are both things you can completely do without.
I use the power pylons to transfer power around the map then go from pylons to a power switch for each factory. This allows me to segregate each factory and set it up so I never have to black start power generators or alumni
But you better not overload your grid if you have neither option built.
I dont know about the geothermal wells but even if you build over something with a resource with foundations you can still attach stuff to it after, i do it all the time with my miners.
eh, balancers are super easy. Though practically never required
Darn it, beat me to it
Shapez 2 (still in EA, though)
Oh I do this, my main base floor is about the hight where ladder stops on miner, all my raw ores are fed in through the underbelly of my factory to keep my factories clean
(Shapez 1 is quite good too, but 2 is the new hotness)
All my miners are on foundations.
whats it about
1 looks like it's super cheap on steam right now and I enjoyed my playthrough with it
(as in, what makes it unique)
i forget the name, i believe its My Little Rocketship is a pretty good factory/automatic game and its got RPG elements and characters to interact with, its gof actual story
#off-topic-general I suppose if you want to discuss in depth; we're already quite offtopic. :)
Sure!
go to a store page and watch some videos π
But, y'know, search engines are free. You could be looking at a video of it in like two seconds. :)
You make shapes π
Well basically but the shapes get more complex over time
I watched the trailer, Ion see the uniqueness
And you can talk about it in https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/556448894993563659
The question is what makes the game more unique to others? (Like Factorio is a 2d with a bit of PVE focus, Satisfactory has a more 3d style and less PVE and DSP has a more SCI-FI style)
you're solving how to make certain shapes instead of just "line goes up" type stuff you'd see in satis, factorio, etc
I love dyson sphere too, i just wish it had some controller support. Dyson sphere for some reason though, i have trouble with my automation lines because your dealing with a planetary view and you have to deal with the curve of the planet and it just throws me off axis, literally
My bad, I got carried away
Sorry, your right lol.
Multi-layered factories are absolutely a solid approach.
we can talk there if you need help with your own builds
the inverted pyramid factory is peak verticality!
i will say i feel like my experience from factorio gave me a leg up in starting satisfactory and teh stuff ive learned about logistics from playing satisfactory has made me a better factorio player.
Oh wait actually (I know this is out of topic) Is Mindustry cool checking out?
yeah the high level concepts are pretty similar even if a lot of the details aren't
Its funny, i math everything in Satisfactory, but in facotorio i just over build till my belts are full and math nothing lol
Its what started me playing these types of games, I just never got far into it since I only played mobile)
Then why don't you ask it here? https://discord.com/channels/370472939054956546/556448894993563659
Lol
Okay buddy
Thats cool and all, but Im lazy β€οΈ
I believe that's a touche? However its spelled
(And Ion think anyone checks it out)
Ok. Light is lazy. Let's forget about all the channels we made here for the rest of the year, people.
Aslong as im not making the topic last too long, whats the issue right?
What channels?
don't wish that kind of chaos on us during the year of the cart!
2026 is a great year to start chaos
We are factory builders....chaos is kind of our thing...
Its been too long since we had any actual chaos
(Which was uhhh, 2020/21?
During Covid and all.
there's the chaotic people and the other type who rebuild the same factory 15 times because some little detail makes their brain itch too much
And that is quite literally me.
For a while
Umm, ive only been playing heavily for a week now and ive rebuild my factory at least 6 times so far lol, i totally have an itch brain
Im not sure if I should rebuild mine
or just leave it there and build it somewhere else
Yeah, any chaos on my saves is either accidental or Skill Issueβ’. :D I strive to avoid chaos in the game. :)
What do you mean chaos on my saves?
(Just responding to the We are factory builders....chaos is kind of our thing... comment. Presumably referring to LGIO-style spaghetti and such. :)
I'd power ahead and keep researching stuff personally. More research and awesome shop unlocks make organized/pretty factories a lot easier later in the game
Wall outlets and ceiling conveyers for the freaking win!
Im just trying to get to the Trains part
a less-pretty factory that's already running has functional value already
since, trains are fucking awesome and you cannot tell me they're not
yeah stuff like that + the hoverpack completely changes how easy organization is for me
My early builds are all reasonably organized at this point because I've been playing a while but I don't stress over some imagined perfect outcome
That's the neat part
d
I didnt entertain the thought of using trains but the other day i was at my oil fields, tinkering with my fuel generators and i looked out and realised i have a whole freaking ocean i can build on... and the terrain between my main base and oil fields is very level, i can build a strait trainline from my factory now, out to the ocean. Now the train idea is way more attractive to me, produce things inland, ship them out to sea side for processing
Oil?
(Invincible reference)
Factorio trains made me love them
Don't play Satisfactory like it's Factorio
That's only one side of the coin. The other side is the opposite: clean, structured, orderly, and ocd
I never used trains in factorio TBH, never needed em, my drone counts were always in the thousands lol.
When one of you guys looks up videos for Satisfactory, whos your go to?
Im guessing the other guy is probably "Doc"?
anyone able to load the satisfactory calc site? think it broke
PsYche897 and Let's Game It Out for entertainment
there are only 25 numbers on FICSMAS calender?
anything that you think looks cool (technically bad advice but thats the rule of cool - its your world after all)
Huh, welp...setting up a train to bring my operations to the coastline is going to be easy...turns out the train system parts are cheap for where i am at progress wise, and i have all the require resources linked to dimensional storage.
I would prefer a few suggestions though.
Look in architecture channel or screenshots. Anything that inspires you
But design is a
Very steep slope imo
Anyone use GeForce Now here?
I mean you could dump a thousand plus hours into it and still be mediocre
Anyone know how to get to the underground sam below dune desert?
cave on the northern side
Satisfactory Calculator site is down. Do we know who manages that? I know it's unofficial, but figured I would ask.
halfway up the cliff, around where the arch goes over the river
Anyone know how to get a controller to work? Steam input settings make zero difference unfortunately
I donβt see a river
i lover the hoverpack
#screenshots message do you mean from south side?
oh you mean south of dune desert?
Yh
Working over here at the moment; presumably it was either a temporary site glitch or a temporary networking/routing issue. There's a link to Anthor's Discord up in the headers once you can load it yourself
If i wanted to keep my locomotive system VERY simple...can trains go backwards? Can you put a train engine on the front and back of freight cars? Im in a good mostly level straight shot to the ocean where i want to set up my new factory, all i would need is a straight rail there, and a straight rail back, no fancy turns or wide angles...just forward...and back
should be northwest if i remember right, near the pillars of rock
(I'm not sure if Anthor's ever to be found in this Discord)
I'm getting a 502 error when I try to access the site, so something is up.
Take that as a no then.
5xx error means the server has an issue
trains can only reverse if they have 2 locs, both facing away from each other
and yeah they should be at opposite ends of the train
Ok, so i ca put one in front and back as long as they are facing opposite directons, PERFECT
Maybe reddit will be more helpful
Im getting excited by the idea of playing with trains now lol
Could do. Though if you want the best chance of a question not getting buried in other chatter in here, #1038092680493801533 is by far the better place to ask
Yeah I'd ask there cause high-key controller is the best way
If you ask a question in here you've got a pretty small window of time for someone who knows your answer (or wants to help out) to notice before it's scrolled off, whereas #1038092680493801533 threads are frequently picked up later even if someone with the knowledge isn't looking Right Then
Alright thanks
(Asking in here is fine too, of course; just if you don't get an answer soonish then the other place is likely to be better. :) (No clue, personally, btw. :)
I'll go try there
If you do type there try to include info like what platform you're playing on ect
I'd assume they're playing pc if they can't get a controller to connect
Uhhh, I would try to make a Citadel (HL) but. What the fuck would I use it for???
Cause genuinely, Idk what I would fit in tall building
Using GeForce Now thru steam access
Everything
Cough cough
10/min Iron Plates.
Is that even possible?!
Make it possible
I mean, it's as good an answer as anything. :)
It's a sandbox game; do whatever you like in it! There's no answer to "what should I put inside a building I made?" in this game. :)
If you don't feel like 10/min Iron Plates is suitable, maybe 20/min Iron Plates?
Or 5/min if that's too much
No but in actuallity
how much should I produce?
I want an actual megafactory inside a cool as building
As much as you need
not just for decoration right?
For real I saw someone in this multiplayer world he made this absolutely massive, intricate building, which also looked good aesthetically, and all it did was proccess quartz into crystals and silica. Only 20% of the space was used basically. Colored the entire building quartz colors so it was intended only for that
You never make as much as you need
20% is a stretch maybe 10%
I NEED ALL OF IT!!!
Exactly!
I remember being disappointed that the SAM-Resource-Conversion loops actually increase the total material (at the expense of SAM, obvs) instead of decrease. I'd been assuming you'd lose material over time and had wanted to, like, create a gigantic cube which takes in 100% of the map's SAM + Sulfur and spits out like 10/min Iron Plates
But no, alas, as you loop around with conversions you just get more and more
I said this from my first message bruh π
Feel free to try, of course, but keep in mind:
- Megafactories are very unkind to PCs, in general
- They introduce a lot of extra challenges which a lot of players don't expect
Certainly go ahead anyway, of course; many have! But remember to not get discouraged when it starts to be hard to scale things up properly
- My PC is really good
- I like complex designs
I used to make compact builds for other factory builders
If you do do it, I'd actually strongly recommend following Independency "inside" the factory anyway. You'll still have the PC-performance problems to deal with but that'll bypass quite a few other challenges for you
also what do MK2 poles do?
I predict you're going to be disappointed by how well your PC performs with a "true" megafactory, no matter how good it is. :)
Havent unlocked them evfen though I can
But hey: as I say, good luck! You'll find out soon enough. :)
MK2 power poles? They just allow for more connections. 7 instead of 4
They allow you to make 7 power connections from the same pole
That-
Is kind of good.
MK3 allows for 10.
this path signal is being stubborn. it won't connect to the rail road the way I want it, keeps pointing the opposite direction
Having a megafactory pre phase 2: π€
Having a megafactory post phase 2:
Heh, if you still haven't even unlocked your full MAM trees and stuff, megafactories are definitely gonna throw you a lot more curveballs than you expect. :)
Scroll wheel and/or "R".
One changes direction. The other changes side.
Yeah, megafactories early on can seem like a reasonable idea, and aren't too bad for awhile.
Alright maybe phase 3
But I don't want to sound too down on 'em, just giving a warning is all. Many folks don't anticipate how much extra work they are, and it's easy to burn out on 'em, is all.
So long as you're having fun, you're doing it right, so if "fun" == "megafactory" then have at it! :)
I think a lot of us forgot about fun and migrated on to obsession.
I will say this though
If you're really good at managing that stuff, or just really know pretty well what you'll need/ just generally good at the game, you can pull off a megafactory pretty far into the game
Oh, sure, and anything's possible
Real. I'm trying to relearn what things I genuinely find fun. And it's working in my new save. For me it seems to be like, doing stuff in my weird ways which are weird but I like them
Ok serious opinion question. The new site im laying foundations for on the ocean where space isnt an issue. I want to know what you guys think, should i process raw resources at the base i have now, turn them into parts like screws and rods and stuff and ship the PARTS out to the ocean by train or should i just conenct my miners into containers, fill my train with raw resources and process the raw recoures AND parts on the ocean?
i tend to process raw near the ocean to use the pure recipes in refineries
Just found out about mycelia 60 hours in
I'd like to separate ingot processing from other factories for easier upgradability. But most other parts needed by a given factory are then produced on-site with shipping ingots in
Which ever flots your boat π
Practically, it would make sense to ship the part that takes up least space.
Like for screws, I'd transport the materials to produce screws. But for concrete, I'd make the concrete and transport that. (just examples).
In Satisfactory, the only thing that kills the fun for me, is myself. Too high expectations, or too lofty goals, or too much investment into asesthetics
That's why I treat it like a marathon and not a sprint
I haven't played consistently in like 8 months because I didn't have the drive
Fully get it. For this playthrough, I am taking it reeeally slow. Just spending a lot of time on "small" things. Chill with it. And not think at all about how far away "the next big thing" is.
Yeah
I feel like the ocean site is going to be for assembly and manucatory and my space elevator. Ill proudce stuff like rods, wires, etc etc and ship them out to my ocean side assembly and manufacts.
The only thing i need to big brain out is how i distribute the parts to the assemblers and manufacts once they get to the ocean site...thats going to be the tricky part
if you produce 10 versatile frameworks a min wont that be like an hour and 40 mins until you get 1000 of them?
Yeah
sure, but it's not like you have to just sit and wait
plenty of other stuff you can do in the meantime
a few hours is nothing on the timescale of this game
MAM stuff is the best to kill time
ok
Can confirm, I've been playing for like 4 hours
in the sea on the south west of the map, is there a limit to how far i can build? if yes, will i reach it quickly?
explore, build more factories to automate something you don't have enough of, plan out your next steps, pet doggos, kill wildlife, redecorate, do ficsmas... many options available
just realised i can make 60 steel beams easily
does tier 5 and 6 have more power options?
yes
I've heard 5 does but it's not too good
what is it
No idear
you guys know any good free server hosting?
Yes there's a limit and nah you probably won't reach it quickly unless doing something truly huge. (I'd suggest loading your save into scim and turn on the world border to see how much space you got left but I think scim is having issues atm)
It's not loading on my end
Does the awesome sink always consume the same amount of power? Whether or not it is sinking items? It has no indicator light so does that imply it never goes on standby? So
so is fuel power better than coal
aight. its big, but i dont think its that huge. its like 50 foundations by 15. and i need multiple of those. i can probably rotate it to not reach it
Is this game actually good?
you're gonna get some slightly biased answers here
If you wanna find the edge you could build out a bridge of foundations I guess, maybe it will take a while
Power is power. However you make it doesn't matter π
That being said, a single fuel generator kan make 250MW compared to a coal generator's 75MW
i need that power right now
my max capacity is 1650MW
and i just need versatile framework for the space elevator
I only use coal for backup. Just enough power to run whatever I need to get the parts for building fuel power.
Better question: do you enjoy automation
no.
yes.
i already have 16
anywhere between 8 and 64 is typical before moving on to fuel
but it's more about what you've actually unlocked, and if you have the power to bootstrap that fuel setup
Find another coal node π
Overclock extractor. Upgrade to MK2. Use compacted coal. Plenty of options to optimize coal power.
be the one person who uses compacted coal in coal gens π
I do π€«
But I was making it near my coal. Didn't need it. And then just fed it to the generators.
I promise.
ye. makes sense. last question. does the game get a bit wonky if you get close to the game border? some games tend to do that, idk if this one does
nah, you can happily build out to the death wall
and beyond, if you can reach the machines without dying
ah lol
mmm i need to make modular frames
Cross the border and you start to die. Wouldn't call that wonky.
what else can i do with auto wiring
it's a manually added death border, it's not like the Far Lands in Minecraft where the game just fails
I love coal gens but for raw power I'd move on to fuel gens as soon as you're fully capable to make a setup for it
future space elevator stuff
so just store it
sink?
one exception in P4
IΓΈ've build stuff under ground. If I get 1cm lower, I start to die. But above that, I can build anything.
Technically you can build past the border too. As far as your buildgun can reach π
what do you mean by sink it
are you playing the game the lets game it out way?
just asking
I built by the death floor and wall so my nuclear waste'd be out of the way lol
Oh god no. Also, computer not big enough for that π
lol
awesome sink for coupons
Let that sink in for a moment
no but lets game it out was quite funny
oh right
the Awesome Sink, lets you dump excess stuff for coupons you can spend on goodies like aesthetics and conveniences
Josh's videos was actually the main trigger for me to buy the game π
if i did keep my auto wire setup on it would trip the grid
me to
sounds like you need more coal power
no
lol same, saw a gif of the hypertube cannon and that started the spiral
Coal power kinda succ but it's fun to build
at least it's super easy
1 node, 4/8/16 gens, couple of water extractors, ez power
add more nodes or overclock to bring more in
I build undergoround to make room for this: #screenshots message
WHOS UP FACTORISING RIGHT NOW??
god damm
Satisising all over the place
that looks a lot better than my APA room... though mine's also in the void, right near (0, 0, 0)
Going dizzy between the MAM and rebuilding sob
Kinda reminds me of a ripley's museum I went to irl where they had a black hole/vortex tunnel exhibit
obligatory "rebuilding isn't required, just build new factories rather than tearing down old ones"
I've seen those. Messes up your eyes π
That's what I'm doing, but the process of making a new factory and tearing down the other is, in some way, rebuilding, no?
hi, is someone know why sometimes my mk3 miners stop working 4/5 seconds ?
that's the point, you don't need to tear down a working factory
Are the dots beams with small signs on them?
probably can't push the items onto belts fast enough
Oh 100%, I'm just letting it churn up the goods I need for the new one
Yup. With the "vignette" bacground to make them more round'ish.
Ah neat
Producing more than is being used, if you look at your belts I'm sure they're backed up. Full of whatever you're mining.
Ooof, Iron wires or rescan... tempting to just go full iron, but still
the belts are not full, the resources take a train and go to a crusher, it's just the miner who stop
How much can your miner produce and what mk belt do you have attached to it? Are your belts backed up full or not?
Remember, There are more drives than recepies. So in the end you can have all the recipies. If you skip one now, it will come up later π
It's probably a very easy problem with a very easy solution, but we need a little information.
Mk 5 should be able to deal with 600/min easily.
So that's not it then.
Mk 5 is 13*60 = 780/min
or it's just a visual effect, when i'm away it work perfectly but when i'm closer he "bug"
Does the stack size inside your miner vary? What do your belts look like?
If the stream appears continuous, there may not be a problem.
But we can't see that, you can.
i post the video on #screenshots, you will see
Bahahaah. I set up a rail between my factory and my future ocean site, got it nice and organized and powered, took my maiden trip in my first train, got to my ocean foundations, then it hit me, i had nothing to stop keep the train on the rails at the destination spot lol, right into the ocean, SPLASH.
Well, engineering isn't always knowing what will go wrong--it's also fixing the things that do.
i felt that pain while reading...
92%, that's not a visual bug.
I realised what was about to happen i just realised it too late and didnt have enough room to break lol
You have a bottleneck somewhere.
the miner is empty lol
It's in burst mode.
If you really want to track this down, look at your belts from this miner to all users. See where you start seeing the difference.
But at 90-92%, it's not a big problem unless there's something critical behind it.
would it make sense leeching modular frames from my modular frame setup instead of just making a full seperate factory for it
a nuclear power plant x)
No biggy π€£
Do oil wells slow down?
Oh, is this for your sulfuric acid and are you also backfeeding some of your sulfuric acid from your encased uranium cell blender back into the stream?
Because then it makes sense that it will not operate at 100%.
You have a little overcapacity, which is good.
Hi guys! I just came here to ask a question, so i tried redditing it but nothing, is the efficiency first trophy on ps5 really buged or are there any "in game" millestones that i dont see because thats the last one that i need for my platinum trophy and its driving me crazy
TFW you realize what's about to happen before it happens but it's too late and the only thing you can do is watch and regret
What level is that conveyor belt and lift?
It looked like mk4 to me
no it's mk5
ah ok
Usage would be down further with an mk4.
I think it's clearly the hoverpack network bug, causing machines to go idle for a moment when the hoverpack connects to power connectors on different sides of a power switch or on different power grids
By chance, do you happen to have power switches or different power grids in that area?
Light control panels can show this issue too
The what? I use my hoverpack constantly and never noticed my machines getting hiccups.
Is the hoverpack bug really still a thing? (i dont use em though so I wouldn't know)
It is, yes
yes i have a switch
Dang so it's been around for a bit
If they are all on same grid, you don't. If you have priority switches between your grids, the hover pack can cause a grid to stall for a fraction of a second.
Years π
Well, there you have it...
If you either put everything in one grid or "just" never use the hoverpack the issue shouldn't happen again...
Ah, good thing I don't have priority switches then.
ok nice
ty
https://steamcommunity.com/app/526870/discussions/1/4691154661545094995/ This bug? That's from '24.
Yeah, I ended up just not using switches, alas. Maybe it'll get fixed in v1.2
When I'm building a big setup, I have everything on my main grid. I don't put in the switches till I'm ready to leave the place alone.
Oh no.
I finish my iron megafactory and get ready to explore for my steel factory.
I go to Satisfactory-Calculator for the interactive map.
I just pretend there's some lore-based reason why one can't use the hoverpack in my factories...
502 Bad Gateway π’
This is "only" a big deal if you are going for 100% efficience and do not overproduce by a single item.
It'll be back; just either server or network issues
It was still fine earlier today.
Yes, that is the nature of server/network issues. :)
Yup. 502 means their server's corked.
Is whoever runs that place on here by any chance?
So I just gotta wait. Prob just need them to restart nginx.
Anthor's got their own Discord
I'd be surprised if it hasn't already been brought to their attention though
(Although if they don't have automatic monitoring, I suppose if literally everyone has that thought then maybe not. :D)
Same here: https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/post/618e0e07831c85205235d318
4 years ago. And check related posts.
Status is fixed internally. But still not fixed.
BTW, I finally finished my production plan and... Things got out of hand
Who knows, maybe I'll be finished by next year!
#screenshots message
||Careful, Apo, it's a Modeler shot!
||
Oh, AnthorNET. I know their Reddit, not their Discord.
It should be linked on SCIM π
... Oh, wait...
Scim goes down for a few minutes
Insert "this is fine" gif
(it's totally not send help)
Seems back up again.
For now
Enough to pull his Discord server, pinged them there.
Can I replace coal with petrol coke in default recipes that require coal?
I'm guessing the answer is "no", because the codex doesn't say I can.
nope
dang
Can you disable auto-snap rotation when on a foundation? For example I have a train track platform blueprint and it only turns 90 degrees when on a platform but will rotate in much smaller incriments without a foundation
but i still like using the foundations for lining things up
where do i get SAM from?
There are resource nodes of it around the map. Fairly well hidden, sadly
Usually in caves or on top of mountains. Very annoying.
whats even in the alien tech tree
Depot
Probably the most useful thing
SAM nodes
what does the depot do
Dimensional depot is the big one. Lets you upload items to the cloud so you can use them as though they were in your inventory, but it doesn't take up space there.
whats the closest sam node to the grasslands
As well as Sommersloops. Allows for 2x the output from machines with no change to input (Makes the machine use more power though)
Explore over by the arch. :)
Under the big arch
Put a miner on a SAM node. Even if you just put everything into storage, you'll want a lot of that ore.
look for a big hole in the ground
I have problems with putting miners on SAM nodes, mainly because they're in such inconvenient places that I can't bring power or conveyors to them.
probably just a skill issue on my part
Lifts. And powerr towers
Bringing power == just a bunch of power poles. :)
i left my tractor by that big water lake a bit north from me
Convery lifts. And those poles aren't too hard either.
No need to conveyor them out; can just extract locally
You'll figure it out, keep practicing.
That will be the best place for you to build coal power btw
i have 16 coal gens there
You can add a few more once you have better miners π
i want to go straight to fuel
Aany who, new motor worked like a charm for the robot. Now time to remain 'effecient' the rest of the weekend π
Trouble shooting a 4KM pipe line goes hard
That's one of the reasons people don't make 4km pipelines.
is it just me who likes the Caterium Computer alternate recipe?
The length should have no merit. However if it is going up, you could just have a headlift issue.
Delete the 4km pipeline and pick a different tactic. There. Trouble shot.
Yeah my pipes will never be super long
I do, all the time
You just follow it until you find a pipe that isn't full, then fix it
Pipelines are long IRL, why not in Satisfactory
But as others have said, better not to build such long pipes
I bring my stuff to the fluid instead of bringing the fluids over. Whenever possible.
mainly because fluid mechanics in Satisfactory break down in ways it doesn't in real life.
They can be. It's all the negative hype around pipes that sway others from doing it.
Or just package the fluids if you want to transport them
How far apart do yall like to put pillars so they dont look cluttered but also look like they are part of the build
Nah in this case it was a throughput issue, I knew about it but never color coded the pipe that didn't have 600m/s of oil but just 450m/s
How the heck does one automate fabric and stuff? Is there a renewable biomass node or something?
Like egirl bath water--pipes would have been a terrible way to transport it.
If you keep them flat or 90 degree inclines then it's not that bad
Actually they do pretty well. It's when people try to do a long straight manifold on machines that's the issue. When you have multiple sources needing the same "pressure", the pipes should always be in a loop
Polyester Fabric
Thats fair, just seems like they take forever to fill
Biomass can't be automated, no, but there's an alt recipe you can unlock in the MAM to make fabric out of oil products (which is fully-automatable)
Initial fill can take a minute for sure. But after that, provided no "broken" connections, should work just fine.
Im settin up my first fluid train as we speak
hey guys where I can find this power slug? #screenshots message
Good to know. I wonder if they will ever add fish nodes or something to water sources lol
I have a six mk2 pipe way, 5 of those pipes all transport 600m/s oil just fine across 4km, never had a issue.
I just used pumps and water towers
Ugh, I 'should' go shovel the damn snow .... But I don't wanna π
Most likely in a cave
If you want, you can use SCIM to find the entrance.
Maybe it's in a cave below you
They've changed their minds about stuff in the past, of course, but they've said "no" to extra water-based things quite frequently
SCIM?
If it doesn't 502...
Satisfactory Calculator Interactive Map
But yeah, the website is currently having some issues.
https://satisfactory-calculator.com/ The interactive map. But looks like it's down atm
Don't worry, it was fine earlier today. They'll be back.
Show a screen shot of where you are on the map
Probably someone dragging anchors where they shouldn't again
@sullen cloak
They should add an up/down indicator to the object scanner, or maybe revamp it entirely really
I made an automatic farm for iron plate rod screws and ingot as a starter
Yay
Idk whatβs my next goal tho
Coal. Xenoblade.
What does space elevator even do
Complete Phase 1
Build it and find out π
But, doesn't have to be 50/min
no
50 total
Look in your assembler
You can craft them all by hand if necessary...
PPs cannot be done at the bench. Have to do it indirectly via boxes at best.
Elevator parts can't be handcrafted. You can hand-feed a machine with the necessary ingredients, though
I donβt see anything more than reinforced iron plate
You are absolutely correct, that's an important distinction.
coordinate at 114, 2748 #screenshots message
I could see a building like a green house or something, you could put bacon plants or mycella or something in a slot and it would reproduce it, allowing early automation of biofuels for those who want to extend their bio fuel phase or something
Yep yep, looking now.
Definetly a cave
The devs generally don't want automation of bio products because one of the themes of the game is exploitation of the environment
Did you read the wiki?
There's plenty of mods which introduce biomass automation, if you want it. I wouldn't hold my breath for it to appear in the vanilla game though. :)
Is it worth considering starting a new save if the current one is way too chaotic?
Un spaghettify it
IMO just grab some materials and start building your new factories in another location
If you have a few hundred spare hours and like doing that, absolutely go for it.
Your existing stuff will still keep producing all its stuff, even if it's chaotic
check #screenshots
It's a huge map; I'm sure that you've only introduced chaos to a smallish section of it. :)
You do a new save if it sounds fun, but I normally don't think "current save too hard" is a great reason for that--you are at a point in the game where you are being challenged, and that's a grand learning opportunity.
How to get external emojis
Save the game, and then demolish everything without starting a new save. If you didn't know, holding control while disassembling lets you disassemble multiple things at a time
Guys I just did field research and got MAM is it useful
In the end you can do whatever you want, of course, but one problem a lot of folks seem to run into is the endless-restart loops.
Don't believe you can in this server.
tattoo parlour
I've heard it is
That's a Nitro question
If you get yourself in a habit of just restarting whenever your factories aren't perfect, that's kind of a recipe for burnout
Actually crying
Thank you so much for that tip lol. Sounds like i should just reform whatever i have rn.
No I have nitro, the server doesn't allow external emoji
I will only start a new game if there was a new game + where you could start over but with advanced knowledge
MAM is one of the most useful things you'll do in the game
mercer spheres aren't farmable?
As I say, I'd personally recommend not doing that
There's a limited amount, like sloops.
Rebuilding is like a fast track to burnout.
It's to protect from some 'nefarious' types from using NSFW and other innappropiate emojis
Does it help in presents cuz idk what to do with my presents
how do i get out the arch cave without dying
That's cringe but understandable
Not saying that everyone rebuilding/redoing stuff is going to burn out, but why spend all that effort just to get back to the same level of productivity you were at before?
Run really fast
I feel like one of those old dudes that used to have a huge train model in his basement , that would try to lure anyone to look at it for a moment.. but now its just in a video game instead
I do new saves relatively frequently, but I enjoy the process of the early/mid game quite a lot compared to the later game.
It's a huge map -- you can just leave your existing factories as-is and start building more elsewhere (and try to do "better" on those new factories)
Ahh okay, so keep expanding but in a better way
@sullen gull thank you!
why is your basement in a video game?
and then you get the benefit that the factories you've already built will continue to provide you with materials
Or embrace the spaghetti and make it even worse
Instead of having to literally restart from scratch
It's that new new 'immersion' play π
FICSMAS presents? That's more of a sidequest thing. You can spend time on that, but it will stop working January 18th or so. Until next year. What you want is to collect everything from the FICSMAS advent calendar before then. Some of it is not related to FICSMAS but simply useful, like extra harddrives or coupons.
I'll try that.. Im currently trying to build a new iron factory
Hello, Josh
Like the spaghetti I shared earlier--it's glorious
I dont really have any factories lol just placed everything on the ground
Nevah Sgetti! Lasagna all the way! π€£
Learn to love foundations, it helps avoid spaghetti π
This what megabases are for
Nah, I hate the concept of a "megabase" personally ....
Nah, megabases are for reducing your CPU/GPU/cooling-system lifespans by a bit. :)
Yeah it looks way cleaner
I just unlocked foundations
Then use it! I just got them relatively not too long ago and they help alot
Unless this counts as a "megabase" π #screenshots message
Now you can learn about the worldgrid https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Foundations#World_grid
dont ask how but i manage to make foundation spaghetti LOL
Copper spiral of death
megabase is just tinned spaghett
That one is doing all 12,300 bauxite π
Some people abuse good things to do bad things π
Since it's been brought up and recommended, I feel compelled to provide the counter-opinion: World Grid is rarely worth it. Useful if you want to "trivially" connect up two disparate factories onto the same "set" of foundations, sure, but there's a lot of techniques to merge arbitrary grids, if that's something you want to do. (And needing to connect disparate factories via foundation isn't something you necessarily want to do, anyway)
But, was made on a friends save. I will be revamping it on one of my own saves.
Idk what bauxite is but 12k is a lot so impressive!
Fr I play on low settings and 50 fps to try and help lower the strain
It's what you will need for Aluminum later π
what tier is bauxite in? im like end of tier 6 now and finishing off phase 3, i found a pure bauxite node already
I don't even have aluminum yet...
Phase 4 (tiers 7+8)
how do i make more bombs
I'm still getting the necessities for hypertubes
Completely agree. World Grid is trap.
ooo sick thats what im gonna be doing next i guess
Research Nobelisks in the MAM, it's in the sulfur tree I think
Gotta unlock them in the Sulfur tree of the mam
Okay I asked this question before but I still dint understand, maybe now I will. I want to overclock my machines but I donβt know by how much %, should I do like max? Or some perfect ratio like it needs 50plates and I smell only 50/plates per min, or what? People say it depends but depends on what ? and when it depends?
world grid: pants, not recommended
pants: recommended
Now all my shit points the same way, it's nice for aligning things.
Which machines though?
Depends on how many machines for one.
I don't use the % really I just type in what I need. The other number that shows per min
All almost, assemblers, constructors, minersβ¦
Don't overclock unless you're solving a problem with overclocking.
Definitely miners
Overclock all the tings!
so after I get every single one there's no way I can get more?
Power gens will not appreciate this
Unless you cheat, no.
Yes but by how much, p.s I have lot of power and sm of shards
That's for phase 5, when you have all the power and infinite power shards. They're soooo not there yet.
also, i unlocked slooping should i just use it on the annoying things to make like computers?
I wouldn't recommend overclocking just for overclocking's sake. If you've got a production line which needs, say, 60/min of something, but the recipe you're using only provides 30/min, then you could overclock a single machine to 200% instead of just building 2 machines. In general you just want to get the numbers to match -- find out how much of something you need, and then build to suit (whether you're overclocking/underclocking or not)
So, first question, how much ore, what are you making, and what recipes?
are there more manuals except the fluid manual ?
Overclock the miner, and the rest of the factory just build more
Like, everything, all items/recepies
Remember that overclocking requires more power -- 2 machines at 100% take less power than 1 machine at 200%. The difference isn't huge but if you're tight on power you might want to avoid it
I overclock everything because I would rather use 20 refineries instead of 90
For miners it makes sense to overlock them, since the amount of nodes is limited. The rest is not. You can build a near infinite amount of constructors.
cheat?
The opposite is true, too; underclocked machines require less power. 2 machines at 50% take less power than 1 at 100%
I do not know whether this Discord has any rules on discussing that. But it's fairly easy.
And, if you go big on power factories off the bat, it's a non- issue imo
https://discordapp.com/channels/370472939054956546/456109329456562187/1456710277461573795
I don't hit you guys with memes too often, but this one is good
SCIM allows you to modify the inventory of containers.
At the end of the day, it's YOUR save and you are free to do whatever you like.
theres also a duplication bug thats easy to do on accident, much less intentionally ingame
That's my philosophy as well, but I've gotten in trouble on Discord before over the most inane things π
Save scumming is 100% fine for any game because YOU are the one playing and YOU should be allowed to finesse odds a bit
One of these days I'll start a save with like 10 sloops and 50 spheres just so I can get a head start on my DDs and stuff without the hassle of waddling around too much
What are power slugs used for power?
Right. Only one you're cheating is yourself π
So if you want to add 500 extra mercer spheres, you can.
They are turned into powershards. Which can be put into machines to overclock.
But there's no Mercer Sphere node somewhere.
my personal rule is that if it's within the game (Not third-party), then it's free game
Which machines can I use them in biomass burner
For energy
You will need to research the Slug tree in the MAM to unlock "Clocking", But yes, you could if you wanted.
How do I unlock christmas event research line tree in MAM it says u have to unlock it first
It just means you will need more leaves, wood, or biomass to run them
Check the advent calendar at the HUB
Note that for generators, power shards do nothing but save you space. So you can overclock a bio burner to 200%, but then it just acts like 2 bio burners. You still use the same amount of fuel pwer MW produced
I generally avoid things that I consider cheating (dupes, hacks, exploits, etc)--but it depends on the game and where I am with it. I've played enough SF that starting a save with a headstart isn't going to ruin anything for me, lol.
so its only trough this or is it possible to like make every snail, sloop, sphere reapear on a map
So yeah, sure, overclock Biomass Burners if you want, but IMO that's hardly worth it
Alternatively, it means you could run machines at 50% power so your burners go further
yeah, to each their own
I've never 'cheated' in the way of duping items. But I have edited a save to move factories or paste megaprints
Chester
I can now scan slugs but how
object scanner. Build it at the equipment workshop
K thx
What he said
And do now use mods now that I have saved the day 3x now. Mostly mods that I think should be "default" in the game (Infinite Zoop/nudge, curvebuilder)
Scanner also helps for finding other useful items later--hard drives, spheres, sloops (I think), etc
Only through that. You can not make them reappear on a map as far as I know. If you could, you probably shouldn't. Adding them to the inventory is safer.
aw man SCIM down?
Oh! .. And don't try to respawn fauna through SCIM ... or you could end up with a "scary" time π€£ #screenshots message
It's having issues for sure.
Admins are aware.
You already knew #satisfactory message
Maybe out of range
probably hes looking in other direction
you need to look in the exact direction the slug is located
Also, it should be noted, if it hasn't already, it's better to wait until you have researched Sloops under the Alien tech tree in the MAM before you start converting your slugs.
This way, you can build a smol constructor farm and get 2x the shards from slugs
Generally solid advice, but I never feel bad about burning blues beforehand. You get tons of slugs around the map and later can make them (power shards, that is).
Same with remains into DNA imo
Yeah, over 5k, if slooped. Otherwise it's like 2500 ish or something
Honestly only need a few dozen in early game anyway
Mostly for oil/coal and early iron/lime nodes.
which tech tree?
Alien Technology
I've never run out of slugs realistically
I believe it's the Power Augmentaion or similar.
I only have while experimenting with spamming them in fuel gens
Lol, I have. Making RF plants before having syn shards unlocked π€£
But to be fair, I don't overclock a lot of things
I'll build two machines and underclock the second, rather than overclocking just one
And eyah I just build more fuel gens
You save a ton of power in the long run that way, if you don't mind the extra work
Can save a tad more if you just do 50% x3 instead
lol and even more if you build a hundred machines at 1% instead of one at 100%
It does get ridiculous at a certain point
Sure, but I was keeping it realistic, lol
Easy to work the math on and fits into builds well enough
Also not being absurd about the extra buildings xD
Sure would be a wild playthrough to cap all buildings at 10% tho
You can go under that, but not over
Probably have to leave exception for raw resources tho
For a turbo fuel fuel factory
So, in building something like the RF factory I am working on... Which will have 672 gens @250% (420GW)..... The power usage with Overclocking vs not, imo, is very negligable in the "grand scheme". The ~7k difference doesn't "break the bank" at all. However, It does allow for me to use WAY less machines, which means WAY less space than when not overclocking : #screenshots message
Should I use an alt recipe for turbo fuel
If you don't mind it eating a ton of sulfur
Space is usually not a big deal because you can just build into space, lol
Just extra work
I haven't seen people run out of space yet.
Which doesn't count.
People don't always realize how much vertical space they got. It's... quite high.
It's very high
2km, to be precise
And most things you build are wider than they are tall, so it goes a long way
That's a thousand mid-size foundations.
A constructor is what, 10 of those?
Cons are about 8m, iirc
???
Smelters 9.
So that gives you roundabout 200 layers.
It is for me when I am mostly against "sky platforms". And to me, having a giant tower in the sky isn't as appealing as having something like these: #screenshots message
You probably want a little buffer between, so call it an even 10 and you can still do a lot
With factories like that you still don't run out of space, not by a long shot.
Sure, but that's merely an aesthetic choice
We're just saying you realistically don't ever run out of space
And aesthetic buildings being 4-5 stories tall isn't unrealistic
If you never go more than 5 stories tall, you can still make it fit.
I never said running out of space was an issue. But, we can talk about 'effeciecy' too. Especially in the way of time. It's MUCH better when I only have to belt/plumb 20 machines vs 90, for the same output.
And irrelevant if you need more power for it.
But the power no longer gets excessively high when you use powershards I think.
Again, noit very hard at all to make power. Power is very moot imo
After coal ofc
I think the larger argument is that it's more than feasible to build a lot of power quite easily, so you can overclock pretty much anything you want to--you just maybe shouldn't do it to actually everything
Hey, you started about something irrelevant as time. That's moot too.
We all got hundreds if not thousands of hours into this game π€£
Lol, pssssh ,, only 5k in the last year π€£
BUT, much better when I can build 10 factories in the time it takes me to build 5 π€£
However, maybe it isn't a bad idea to underclock and build extra while still on burners/early coal.
I wonder if underclocking the production chain to 50% then slooping the final machine is worth? π€
for me, I just burn to coal, make a nice coal plant, the next one will be >64x, and then just coast till oil. Nuclear is more 'work' and I always obsess over the layout, so I've only 'finished' the one π€£
Probably isn't unless the power savings are huge--power tends to be cheaper than sloops
Though, don't forget, slooping causes the machine to use much more power as well
I know, that's why I'm not sure how worth
I mean, may "even out" with underclocking the rest..
Then not worth for sure
This is where playing in Satisfactory Modeler is fun imo. You can answer all your questions quickly and easily π
You need to come out significantly ahead on power to be worth
are stators used by anything other than motors?
Yes, but you don't need to DD them
Gimme a rundown ... like, let's say we're going to make plates, rods, screws, wire, and cable right? What's your usual starting numbers?
Alright thanks
It's more like what thing you want to build. If you do a Heavy Frame setup, for example, you would only sloop the final step.
For stuff like that, you can hit O on the PC (or N), search your items, and can find out what you need to make and what they're used in. If there is a question mark, you havn't unlocked it yet
Enough, few hundred of each maybe few k screws
OK, so, what, 5 HMF/min, before sloop?
Chat, do you dedicate entire nodes to process one item or do you send it to factories where it's processed for everything?
/me has modeler open on the other screen π
Up to you.
I try to use the most out of one node but end up wasting lots of resources and rf
A lot do practice Independency though
You just have to calculate the power usage for each recipe that makes it, then downclock the production tree to 50% while slooping the final machine, again with each recipe. Then compare.
!wikisearch Independency
Independency is a gameplay strategy where factories do not depend on each other, removing the need to distribute resources and manage connections between them. Instead of importing many raw resources from afar and handling the distribution of intermediate products, each product is made "from scratch...
has anyone ever sent everything to the awesome sink and started again?
And it's all going to be proportional, so only 1 machine calculated is necessary
Yeah, it's just a few clicks to set all that with modler.
Yeah, I just can't do that stuff right now
