with the "right" setup, you can deadlock a single train. and it doesn't even need to be so long that its back blocks its front on a loop or whatever. a single train with 2 wagons, straight, downward track

It's really kind of inexplicable, every other belt type leading up to Mk5 feels like way more of a pain to make than mk5.....

Train paths are only considered crossing if the rails themselves cross. Which is only if their hitboxes overlap

But the trains will crash if their hitboxes overlap. Which are much taller than the rails (6 m vs 0.5 m). So if your rails are between 0.5 and 6 meters apart vertically, trains on them will crash, even if the rails are signalled correctly

You can get a || digital storage system|| in the game which helps. You don't need to carry small qualities around with you any more. But you will still need a stock pile for large projects.
