that nomenclature would make a high-speed factory cart a hs art
-# which I can't pronounce other than shart
speaking of which, the youtube id for one of this week's clips contains the word "poo"
if they ever do something with more planets they should make a mobile base
it would be a specialized habitation cart
or
why need more planets when we've only been on one continent?
a shart
its for the joke okay
- add base defense.
- give vehicles hit points
- make factory cart self-heal
a shart
Tier 10 technology: B O A T
I have officially started my forst rebuild
Ability to have doggo jump into truck 🤷 I mean... what doggo does not want to ride in truck?
i running a satisfactory server via amp and when i try to jjjoin it it says encryption token missing now i not trying to run a server from my satisfacotry itself so server manger is not wat i looking for but i not sure why it giving me this error
👋
10 entrances in a row fit nicely in a Mk1 BP and you can get across the map with about 3 of them
There's also the Hadron Collider design
166 caused a crash before even leaving the cannon.
the angle of the exit tube has to be correct tho or else you dont seem to get any speed from hypertube cannons
🤷♂️
Yeah, about that. Even 15 could be enough
My builds are usually ordered, even iv biome swallowingly huge.
i think my cross map hypertube cannon in my old save was 18 and that was more than enough
if you didnt touch the keyboard or anything after entering you'd go well off the map
one person i invited into that save accidentally did that and they got all the way to about here
Do you guys think it’s worth consolidating the modular frame line of parts into one factory?
I mean... with the branch hypertube looper cannon 2 gets the job done 🤷 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIwuDUSZApc
one person i invited into that save accidentally did that and they got all the way to about here#screenshots message
When I get back into it, my current save may just affect gravity.
Though I don't plan on another single loco 400 car train this time.
a how many car train
checkmate load balancer stans
#design-and-architecture message
Search my post history (I'm on mobile atm 🤮 ), you'll find one train snaking all over the dunes.
New and larger tunnels are growing.
you've been checkmated on your mazes btw
about how long ago would you say this train happened
You don't have 24gb of vram?
This train #satisfactory-experimental message
i was a month away lmao
also that is insane
and it just goes around the entire dunes biome like that?
Yeah it did, the single engine it had managed 13 km/h
the autism crown goes to you my good sir
It was wound into a coil for a physics experiment that near crashed multiple pcs.
Different experiment, the
🇮 🇹 all experiment was belt throughput.
I managed to have saturated mk6 belts flowing without error.
Four of them full of steel ingots leave the blue crater, via the tunnel network heading into the dunes.
I haven't decided on how to fivide 4800 steel ingots yet
You've seen my current alu setup.
12300 ingots, the large scale systems do have overflow to sink in order to avoid stoppages.
If you are maxing out mk6 belts it's possible, a little hitch could start to unravel the factory
Yeah I'm glad I skipped MK2 track, mk3 just feels like such a bigger upgrade and it's about as easy to make
Maybe every other is the way to go
In my first playthrough my alu factories failed randomly because of bauxite starvation, the last one in the manifold slowly but surely consumed more ore than it got even though the math was perfect 1200/4 and no possibility of backing up (sink protection)
It's been a while so I'm kind of wondering, does any milestone need more than 3 products?
Is hooking up lines for the other 3 inputs worth it?
dunno that water concrete recipe looks pretty pog, too bad I can't make it yet lol
Funnily enough in my alu factories the water loop was the most reliable thing, I always find it hilarious
Can perfectly loop water by managing clocks, 1x 90% using fresh, 2x 105% clocks using only wastewater.
Never the two mix.
Uh anyone?
just quick question
yes
Thanks just wondering how much to hook up hmm guess I'll just do 4 then
Yeah I'm on the phase 2 which only needs 3
Thanks for the tip on recycling the MAM assembled stuff whoever gave it btw lol. I put a mk2 miner down on my MAM node and turns out it was a normal so I just overclocked it to 270/min and then overclocked the constructor to 270/min and I'm just tossing all of it straight into the sink except a box full
Is that a product or do you just mean how bad the belts get at some point
I've been working on getting the hard drives before bothering with the factory, you should have seen how bad our factory was by the time we were at endgamish 3 years ago, that was bad...
I'm trying to get alternate recipes which reduce the clutter
All I've been doing is just scouting resources and grabbing hard drives for a while
i like how you can throw your saved game into the satisfactory tools and it shows where your stuff is
Just wondering how many of you all use Iron Pipes
There a good place to go for blueprints?
I'm probably going to do it because this desert start has so much pure iron nearby
but I know it's inefficient, but space wise it looks great
I find them expensive
I got an encased pipe recipe instead for those white bars, too
Which I'll probably use
expensive in the most common resource. so it all depends whether it's easier to get the coal for default pipes, coal and limestone for molded or iron for iron
Well I upgraded my coal supply to 270/min too so that's probably not an issue but I hate how complicated making steel is by default
Wish i had a copper node closer to my monstrosity..
I also have that recipe which takes iron ingots and less coal
The desert had tons of copper, including a few pure nodes, but getting Quartz and Sulfur back to the base took a monstrous amount of track
If I just throw up a 600/ingot smelter even though i only have 480 belts, I shouldnt have any issues right?
My foundry uses compact coal since my power station produces it en masse as byproduct.
itll just waste some power
I started in the desert, dunno are there different spawn points?
I can take a screenshot of where my base is at
My power station is in the blue crater, not the dd.
If I place the smart splitter with the overflow output behind a full storage container will it empty the container eventually?
if you want overflow, put it before the container
im in the rocky desert lol.. i have a copper node near a bunch of iron nodes, and limestone too. have coal coming from the cliff above for steel and i got the bauxite coming for aluminum. had coal generators here but i removed them when i revamped the area.
thank you both Max and KYO
I have all the worlds bauxite goiьg to the east coast, at the southern end of the dunes
#screenshots message Here I dunno if there's variations in exactly where you start. Yeah I chose desert because I just wanted something different. 3 years ago we just did grasslands
It's a long ways up
depends on where you go. I chose to go up the waterfall and where the alien mineral was at kind of
Rocky desert quartz in my save is made into 450 crystals, 750 silica & 60 oscillators for my depots.
Is there a "pure" alien mineral source at all? I don't want any spoilers on where it's at, but just curious. I went exploring and noticed almost all the alien stuff I came across was impure, so I guess I got lucky that the one near the desert is at least normal
You can find the clip in my post history, the project got away from me.
Well you're using a different quartz than I did, too.
But I mined and processed all of it!
Coal was a pain to get to on this start too tbh. Like they're not TOO far away but they're all kind of far
There's like a batch of 2 of them past where the coal is from the start
think it's like near the mountain or w/e
But it's actually about as close as the one not in the desert is because it's so far lol
why do people hate impure nodes so much? it's the same resource as anywhere else
I just add impures to other streams, still a resource.
T T T Turbo Ammo ™ time! OOOH yeah!
Even if I overclocked a mk2 on an impure to 250%, it's like 150? That's slower than my current belts
I just wanted to max out a belt of the alien metal getting processed in order to start amassing coupons
Impure nodes are more power for less resources? IDK 🤷
The one near the desert being a normal is pretty amazing lol
Well I did a scan for quartz right where my base is at, the 2 that I"m using are 1.5km away, and so is another one in the other direction, and then there's another 1.8km so...
They're about equidistant
does it matter?
all that matters is that if a factory needs X/min, it gets X/min. It doesn't matter if it's from pure or impure source, or if it's combined from multiple nodes
Well that's the point, all of the alien sources for me were really far. So unless I wanted to run a bunch of track to combine them somewhere at the base and use up a lot of time, it's a lot more efficient to just run track from one...
well first you need to figure out how much your factory needs, then go find place where there's enough resources nearby
current state of my insanity #screenshots message
Like I said a friend and I played 3-5 years ago and we did Grasslands start. We got to nuclear and basically completed every phase (at the time)
I think...
I'm just doing this one solo
Wanna check out the new stuff too
I don't megafactory!
I mean he doesn't, he has factories spread so that he can make tunnels 🙂
If the game made objectives that needed a megafactory I would build one 🤷
I think in our save my factory for just screws was larger than some peoples' entire factories but yeah I wasn't tired of running out of them nope no sir...
"megafactory" has nothing to do with size
I build descreet factories in their own buildings, just a few of them in one places takes up a bit of space is all.
That's why this time I wanna just grab all the alt recipes first because I think some of them don't use screws XD
yeah but also there's no reason to evade screws
They're sharp and can hurt
Yeah, you can get rid of them entirely by the time you unlock steel
Stop stepping on them then.
There's also that one recipe that makes the rotors with the same thing as stators, glad I got that because I think that's gonna save a lotta complexity
but also cost more resources
desert has so much pure iron that I think iron pipes are gonna be pretty pog too
Cast Screws helps a lot, I can stack a few constructors on top of an assembler and boom rotors are eazy mode. Insert iron ingots out come rotors
If you make rotors with the default recipe and with default rods and cast screws, you might as well use steel rotor with iron pipe and iron wire it's the same price, but much easier
Default rotor is only worth using if you make rods and screws out of steel
I wish we had the ability to select an item we have placed and move it..
I like to simplify when I can and steel is not that
like how many supports ive had to adjust because my belts or tubes are all wonky with hard corners in a straight line looking like a drunk person did it xD
Yeah I'm hoping I can get iron wire from one of these, that looks like it's gonna be really good
Screws are also not that. Steel rotor with iron pipe and iron wire is
Opinion noted
lol yeah make everything out of iron is amazing
and expensive
Also i noticed belts do not do the smaller movement when bumping.. like i have stuff i moved slightly to center or line up but the belt wont do it too
As long as you have the iron, but yeah
My oscillator plant in the rocky desert uses default screws because the numbers work without repeating decimals, so no yellow lights.
Like in terms of actual ease of play... I think desert might be easier than grasslands now
because of how much iron there is...
once you're at coal you're supposed to expand to other biomes anyway
Because the numbers had the afformentioned repeating decimals, it was imperfect so the Idea was thrown out after hours of clock manipulation.
it's the easiest biome
I'm a "bring it all back to motherbase" sort of person. In our other save we did split off manufacturing of certain things closer to their sources. I instead do the caveman approach and put a 4-5km long belt going all the way back to the desert
Homing Turbo Rifle ammo when? 😆
I think if you value ease of use then I'll agree
Turbo is better and requires more effort to make it "better"
One explosive rebar can oneshot like 5 small stingers 🤷
OH ok
Is the performance impact that bad?
I don't play my saves after objectives much so 🤷 not really an issue for me
I'm just using these basic bombs, work on everything so far
Trying to calculate the throwing angle is also kind of fun
I literally just pressed space bar and went afk to mostly skip the bio phase into coal, except like a few things towards the end lol
Dune start's biomass is sparce but dense AF next to the water
Ye, can highlight them too so a giant pillar of light shows the way
But but but... teh coupons
Not many doggos in Dune start
is there a mod where i can build facilities while the resources are in storage?
you can do this in vanilla lol
how ?
dimensional depot
Research Alien Technology in the MAM
ahhh that limits only 150 right? i saw some reels but havent got there yet
Limit of what? In the Dimensional Depot you can store up to 5 stacks of whatever you want
Beat the game, got everything from awesome shop. Don't know what to do next. Any ideas? Considered gathering rest of slugs, loops, spheres, drives, but only have any use for sloops at this point. Thoughs?
And upload as many as you want (as long as you have spheres) if one can't keep up
the stack limit is basically irrelevant tbh
Yeah I know but I was just asking what limit they meant
idk either because nothing is limited to 150
I will literally engage any load balancer/sushi belt fan in hand-to-hand combat if they still think load balancers/sushi are spacially better than manifolds
#design-and-architecture message
you can do sushi or balancers all you want, it's just not spacially efficient
"load balancers aren't spaghetti and take up less space than a manifold" how
idk ask the load balancer folk
nobody said that, ever
stack limit is the max number of stacks that will fit in a dimensional depot. if you're at 3, then its 3xnumber of items in stack - for example concrete will let you put 1500 in becaus it stacks to 500 but things like ingots i think only go to 100 so you could put in 300
Agreed I was just reading that statement and wondering what reality I might be living in
upload speed is how fast the depots add items to the dimensional storage. Its slow at first but that can be mitigated by having more than one depot uploading the same item, at the cost of using more spheres to do so. When you upgrade the speed all the way then most of the items you store will only need 1 uploader
Man I don't feel bad about reloading if I die in this at all because almost all of it is due to mob pop in. Would be nice if I could just make the view distance longer
The dimensional storage was a great addition that we didn't have last time I played and it's so convenient...
unfortunate about the pop in. I havent had that happen to me so i guess it just depends on your system specs.
The dd makes for the best inventory system I saw in any game
tbf the author of that statement has made several equally insane/idiotic ones in the past so that's par for the course for them
I've seen several people make that statement
it's lived rent free in my head since like U4
really
It happens on every machine. This one has a 2080 and a 5950X, my other one has a 5070 Ti and a 9800X3D. I think mobs just have a draw distance
No sane person would make that claim unironically
Well
yeah, finally decided to prove it's straight up wrong so I could get it out of my head
I've done sushi belt for one specific factory (stators and rotors with a smart splitter at the end to direct them to make motors at the end) and a few manual systems it's cool how it looked but meh
I'm going to go back to manifolds for everything except train stations now
5070 here and have the same issue, it's quite annoying
It's the worst when it's one of those radioactive hogs
They chase you down everywhere
and I haven't done phase 2, so no guarding against radiation damage
but this shouldn't even have to be proved
You can loose them with the parachute if you don't have the bladerunners yet
It depends honestly. I have balancers that are pretty tidy and non-spaghetti
Could anyone send me the invite to the modding server?
are you using anything that makes you move faster than vanilla game allows? as i said i don't have enemy pop in on mine and im only running a 3060 ti. maybe the culprit is actually your ram/HD?
Hi
But they are not blueprinted, they are built in-situ on the lifts for the machines
but it's lived rentfree in my head after a few people said it in like U4
I did it mostly to get out out of my head
#design-and-architecture message
What numbers does this balancer do?
I'm on an NVME drive that's fairly fast and have 64GB ram. Completely unmodded atm. My 9800X3D comp is faster than this one. Although, I had stable diffusion open in the background, wonder if that was setting aside some VRAM so it might be even worse on this comp atm
I mean it's clear they don't know much about balancer, because what they posted isn't a load balancer and cannot really be replaced with a manifold. unless the balancer was completely pointless to use in that situation in the first place
it's a combination 3:3 3:4
yeah if you're running any other software that is graphics intensive it probably will affect it.. But otherwise sounds like your system should be able to handle it. Maybe theres a driver problem for the newer cards or something.
Seems like they toned down the radiation damage though. I remember it killing way faster than this
it balances the 3 inputs and then balances those 3 outputs into four outputs instead of 3
Those two in particular can be made way more compactly than that.
Maybe I'm just misremembering
still not as spacially efficient as a manifold
not sure why you'd combine them either
To balance everything before pushing them out
Of course not, but then you don't have the slow sequential wind-up of a manifold
plus, you cannot use "a manifold" where a 3:3 or a 3:4 makes sense to use
I dunno actually did they ever decrease radiation damage in this?
Could have sworn it used to kill you faster
yes you can. You can manifold everything.
I think it's 10 dps
you can check the radiation page on the wiki. if they changed it, it should be listed there
#screenshots message @sudden thistle it has been in the game for ages lol :3
Patch 0.4.0.11: Updated radiation levels to fit new item production rates.
Patch 0.4.0.0: Tweaked the radiation decay value for Uranium Waste
it has but i remember playing back in 2021 and ugh doing it manually was so annoying
well this is all it says, but idk if one of those indirectly decreased damage received
/shrug I must be manifolding incorrectly as I only see the slow windup when processing like 3600 aluminum scrap
That's exactly where I use balancers.
I just use smart splitter manifolds there.
that doesn't mean you can replace any balancer with a manifold and expect it to just work. load balancer, sure. but not a belt balancer. plus, belt balancers are best used with manifolds, not instead of them
actually, you can
Uh oh hold on, what is the difference between a belt balancer and a load balancer? Never heard the two separated
yeah, same here
mathematically, there's no difference. the satisfactory community decided to split them for some inane reason
load balancers are 1:n or n:1, belt balancers are everyting else (n:m)
Ah, that sounds like an unnecessary distinction.
feel the variables there for bb should be (i:o) for (input:output)
Call the variables whatever you want
that's because it is
I LOVE THIS GAME
my favorite part is how Kyo has me blocked but then still responds to me
i have 55 hours in the last 5 days
only?
Tbh, in my math tutoring, sometimes, I will replace variables with emojis, to really drive home the point that "whatever is in this place, also goes in that place, whether it's a single variable or a whole expression."
@sudden thistle you're slacking
i know thats only averaging like 11 hours per day 💔
I just try to balance exactly how much input and output I have, everything else will work itself out . . .
i have always viewed it as belt balancers join unbalanced input belts evenly among a number of output belts so all the belts are equal, usually used on a bus.
Load balancers i have viewed as something you use to split up input evenly among a bunch of machines for even startup speed amongst all of them.
It sounds like the community uses them interchangably though
Just be happy you don't have 2 sides of the belt to worry about too, like in factorio lol
yeah, the variables COULD be (a:t) or whatever, it just formalizes and makes things easier and slightly simpler when you match the variable letter to what the variable is supposed to represent
Agreed
Imagine doing differential equations in emojis
You can
yeah no
Variables are already annoying enough in differentials
Notation is entirely arbitrary
nyazul be like: Reality is whatever I want it to be"
No, really though
I was joking but also being honest
I mean yeah you can definitely integrate smiley faces to get the total number of smiley faces at a rate over time
How about smiley angles though
Sure, why not
Is that the rate of a smiley you do in radian notation
I usually use color coding in geometry lessons
I'm sure you try a lot harder than my professors at gatech did lol
@feral geyser can you do 8 dimensional quaternion equations
glad I escaped that thing
oh you went to gatech? fantastic, I can lord my school's cfb record against you over you
Quaternions are 4-d, you mean octonions.
You could I don't watch football or care about it tho
So I'd just kind of be sitting there nodding
did you just invent a new word
no, I don't mean eight onions
and quaternions for 4 dimensions are still called quaternions
therefore it makes sense that quaternions for 8 dimensional things would still be quaternions
what if I told you quaternions for four dimensions only need a 4x4 array, plus a 1x4 array, and not a whole 5x5 array
Where did the 5×5 come from?
im at the point where i need to produce computers but im in a little confused, my manufacturer is a going to be away from my standard iron production so should I build transportation lines from iron to manufactuerer or make the iron items needed right around my manufactuerer
To describe the rotation of the object versus the rotation of the camera in a four dimensional space instead of a three dimensional one
Isn't the quater portion of it related to number, so 4?
I guess quinternon would be 5 and sexternon would be 6?
That's not how quaternions work.
Inconsistent number systems
But yes
I'm going to take the word of a guy who's actually programmed 4d quaternions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BDYSxsVMAE
Read Hamilton's work if you want to know more
Broken link
fixed
You can go either way about this btw, it's totally up to you.
If you find yourself with a lot of the resources to make something near a location, you can just build it there and transport it back.
anyways language is actually one of those things where you can literally just go "Reality is whatever I want it to be"
Or you can be insane like me and make several belts 5km long transporting everything to a central location that's growing out of control
Or just be more sane and make a train line or a cart
why not both
im so confused about the overall logistics rn like idk if I should have smalls factories for everything like reinforced plates and rotors eg and transport them out to other factoires for more complicated processes or if I should just make everything for an item say computers all in its own factory
could anyone maybe help?
that's the fun part: you can do whatever you want!
nobody is going to help if you don't tell us what your problem is
You haven't stated your problem
i dont like this amount of freedom I can never decide LOL
Im writing but sorry
You'd hate living in my state
but in terms of late game does one work out better then the other or should i just go with the flow?
cus i dont wanna spends hours on a factory for it to get cooked once i enter the next phase ym
I have theese 5 refiniries (outputs connected on a mk1 pipe) the pipe runs at 300 metriccubes of heavy oil residue p/m then I connect them to 4 blenders each using 75 metriccubes of heavy oil residue p/m (there is no slooshing in anywhere) But still my machines dont fill up and stall
is there elevation at any point maybe you need pumps
You can't really mess up. There are a lot of resources so you're going to always be able to recover
I linked up pumps and there is abs no slooshing
Pipes sometimes have trouble working at max flow rate
Also, the alt code for ³ is alt+0179
should I upgrade em to mk2
ive ran into problems where my pipes completely disregard splitters and hook up wrong so many just make sure they are set up the right way
Absolutely
oh w
I tought if I used mk1 pipes on max flow rate itd be better than mk2 pipes on half max flowrate
I saw some reddit posts about it but if you say so will try
Nah, avoid max flowrate as much as you can tbh. Work about 5% below it at all times
K thanks for advice man
Kinda sucks to have to factor that in, but pipes are buggy at max flowrate sometimes
nah, you can always make it work. it might just require a specific layout
its really been a headache I scrapped the whole thing and made it simpler and simpler I hope it works when I upgrade all of em to mk2
You can max out mk1 pipes, those usually just work fine as you'd expect. It's mk2 pipes that are especially problematic, using those at 600 can be a pain so avoid that if you can help it
how do i make this even? #screenshots
Right, and with the vast variation in people's layouts, I just give that as a default cuz I just don't know 🤷♂️
you mean the conveyer lines ?
It'll make itself even. Unless you don't have enough supply
I saw they were fixing fluid mechanics in 1.2 is that true or?
I think I remember tons of annoying stuff when a friend and I beat it, with regards to making aluminum and things filling up when they shouldn't.
no the resource spread
It's been quite a few patches since then so you'd think they'd fix that
ohh i see
as long as sufficent resources itll reach equalibrium with due time
@feral geyser thanks so much it actually worked
I just make enough to use exactly as much as I'm supplying with regards to solid things
Y'all think this is enough? for all the phases? (im making 10 constructor of all basic resources) #screenshots
for personal use? probably. for making more complex parts? almost definitely not
including assemblers
Nah you want more
and you'll probably want to redo it with better recipes later
Or just precollect recipes
Requirements for basically everything go up exponentially as you ply the game. Whatever you’re doing now won’t be enough later
im in phase two rn so i dont have any of the advanced items yet
dont think itll be enough however, handfeed those constructers with plates so the factory recaches eq and runs effectively
And you get better tools for making more later so it’s not worth trying to make them all now
Faster belts better miners hoverpack automated shards etc. and same with power
after i finished building all 10 constructor&assemblers im gonna make a massive sorting storage
Hey folks 👋
Do we have any general idea when Update 1.2 might drop, like before or after Christmas maybe?
Totally understand there’s no ETA for patches, just wondering if the devs hinted at a rough timeframe anywhere.
Do you know about dimensional depot?
not yet im not in the space part yet
still in phase 2
how many hours do yaal have?
find yourself a sam node itll make a huge difference
Officially like 4000. But much of that is overnight or whatever
sam node? what and where can i find that?
You have to either use a map or run across one randomly. Though they are frequently near quartz.
damn I got 230 hours man
You often need nobelisks to get to Sam
current world 40 hours at phase 3
sadge i cant even destroy that one big rock near my coal factory
look up satisfactory interactive map and youll see where the nodes are
dud i have 50hrs and still in phase 2
that layout is generally more complicated and annoying than just having twice as many pipes at half capacity though
well its my second play through kinda i had 35ish hours before this but i stopped at phase 2 after making coal power
Random but... a few days ago a friend of mine was interested in the game so I let him play a bit then I showed him our endgame base from years ago and then he said he didn't wanna play it. I have no idea if it was just that messy or just made the game seem to overwhelming. Guess I'm never doing that again.
overwhelming fs
Just be like, "yeah no, no... don't have an endgame base, nope. " Looks to the side
u shouldve made him play the game instead of showing the endgame AHHAHAH im not trying to spoil myself so i dont get uninterested and drop this game
No I did, like I let him play up to the elevator then asked him if he would like to see a complete base
I should have just... not done that
Part of the issue may be how I make really compact but messy lines, too. I can keep track of them in my head but everyone else is afraid to touch them
my starting factory is a disaster rn so im planning on remaking my essential iron and copper items AGAIN
my problem is i dont know what i want to do with the game idk if i should mega factory or modular and im always in the middle it ends up fucking me later on
ts my starter copper factory rn, one singular miner and 4 smelters and stacks of all copper items that i need
Build fresh don’t tear down. Use your “ugly” factory for parts for new one
my iron farm #screenshots
one thing i will say, you dont need that much storage
true i messed up fr im gonna remake that once i remember that im gonna remake it
later on youll get faster miners and other things to help you progress
allow your p/m to do the work rather then stockpiling
Way too many containers. 4 standard containers of anything is all y ever need.
you should awesome sink alot of it early on
try 1 🤔
yeah i do have one conveyor feeding it with raw irons
idk if you have smart splitters unlocked yet but there super useful for sinking excess items
i dont have that yet
like once a container fills up itll sink the overflow
you can get it in phase 2
youll need caterium
wait
oh yeah im rightit is caterium
Gah im still researching phase two rn
once im done with the 4 basic towers im gonna do the assemblers next
take some time to explore and do some mam research some of the stuff is super helpful
like the round trip or how long loading and unloading takes
like round trip?
ngl idek i completly disregarded truck stations
im using it cuz i need to transfer individual materials into one spot and all my towers are far apart and i dont want spaghetti world
The stations will load/unload at a rate of 2 stacks per second
So for a tractor, the max time you'd need is 12.5 seconds (I don't know off the top of my head what a full truckload would be)
In practice, the vehicles start loading/unloading a little bit before they technically hit the pause node, so I think that you can technically get by with even less than that, even if your vehicles are right at their capacity limits
With tractors, I often just set 12.5 seconds and leave it there, though occasionally I'll go back and tune it to the actual delivery once it's up and running (ie: check out the state of the tractor's cargo space before it gets to the station and then lower the wait time appropriately)
yeah thats what im finding out rn on how long the fulltruckload would be i thought, maybe one of y'all know
for now i set like 69.67seconds
Well, at 2 stacks/sec, it'd be the number of stacks a truck holds divided by 2. :)
I just don't remember what a truck's capacity is, is all. (I'm quite fond of vehicles but I mostly stick to tractors)
Yeah I think they definitely have to have decreased the amount of damage from radiation
I just took a sloop in the middle of like 4-5+ rad rocks
which only took me down to half health or so
I don't think the radiation damage levels have been touched in a real long time; it's always been not too bad to facetank radiation for stuff like that
It's really only when you're right on top of it, or if you've got some in your inventory, that it starts getting nasty
Forget it exists
Trains, Hypertubes, and merely heading into one of the "voids" in the map are ways to get under there. You could also load your save into SCIM (https://satisfactory-calculator.com/en/interactive-map) and remove things that way, if you like
omg trucks will beable to transport liquid in 1.2 big guys big
I lovinvg it already ❤️
Im paranoid about structure limit.
Ider what the limit is tho
I gave up on using "legit" water extractors cuz sometimes I lose foundations under the map 😭 Got a blueprint of an extractor that somehow snaps to grid and can be nudged 🤷 works for me
what a complicated game
There are tools that can help with that part; https://satisfactorymodeler.itch.io/satisfactorymodeler https://www.satisfactorytools.com/1.0/production
Does anything give a calculation for how much physical length of belt you get per resource
Is it like 1/5 or 1/10m or something
https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Conveyor_Belts#Construction
The building cost is roughly 0.5 materials per meter, rounded up to nearest integer.
Hmm... doesn't feel like it's 1/2m but guess that's perceptual
Hi fellas, I have completed phase 1, should I turn all of my plate for reinforced doors or would I need iron plates for other stuff ?
Is there any web tool to plan out builds?
There’s a structure limit?
!wikisearch online tools
This page lists links to online tools that can help you in playing by providing e.g. map locations, crafting recipes, factory ratios, plumbing questions, etc.
I really wanna meet (and strangle) whoever didn't put crouch toggle in the game and then also made it so you have to press R+L to detonate a bomb on controller >_>
Iron plates and iron rods will be needed throughout the game (for instance the plates for foundations) so you should have a constant production (and upload to depot). You can pick a node somewhere set the production for these basics, upload them, and basically forget about it
Ok I see thanks for the info mate appreicate it
This is the way
Generally speaking the things you use for building you want to have a constant source of and also generally speaking you make a production line for one product (say iron plates) and then make a production line for another product (say reinforced iron plates) even though iron plates are made as part of this latter factory.
Only perhaps in late game you might want to make one thing one time only and then "append" derivate products to that one.
There's no hard rules (everyone can play hoever they want after all) for this but again generally speaking having separate factories for various products also helps to keep things more organized
So how dumb is this?
I decided it could be fun to truck in tons and tons of rocket fuel and water into my base
and basically build a giant basement filled with fuel generators
gonna have four pipes of rocket fuel and 2 pipes of water
are you the guy responsible for building the structures in rain world with the amount of pipes in the screenshot
so tell me a thing...is it not important to have power
how much power do you need in a base?
is it not more efficient ot put it near where you produce it
Wah! Quartz Purification alt unlocked before I can make the Nitric Acid that I need for it. T_T
not true, who cares how far it is away from my base
because at the end of the day I am gonna need materials from that side of the blue crater, such as coal
I am also gonna need water from the lake
and since rocket fuel doesn't have any fluid mechanics and is a gas it doesn't really matter
because this ugly thing is going under my current base making the whole area look better with less floating going on
ı see thanks mate appreicate it
Am thinking on hopping onto the game to check on things and see if i can think of anything better for my Nukeclear factory tbh I dont think having the Nuke Gens at top near to the waterfall is good Idea specially if am going to need more than 4 like I think the factory for creating everything for nukeclear is fine to have it on water on top of waterfall
what
and looking into pumping the water up to my base it's like 16mw a line
holy crap
280 hours into the save
and i just now automated quartz crystals (and silica)
Damn I have a line eating 490 iron bars a minute
actually damn closer to 690
found a section that wasn't the right belt and that brought it up to what it should be
today i learned you do not need to put the opperator in between two numbers in ().
(162.5x4)(80x6)- gives the same answer as (162.5x4)-(80x6)
edit: when using the in game calculator
Shower refresh time then am going onto windows to play it mite go on Satisfactory for abit after I put little time in different game first
👌 💪
hello may i ask some experienced player for an advice here?
Don't ask me am still not experienced enought lol
Sorry we are all on break. (This is a joke BTW)
is there any vc i can join and turn on stream? its gonna be hard to write tbh
no VC channels in this server
ficsit as a reward is giving you a break for yours progres. Your break ends.. now.
Shit
Time to add rocket fuel to my coffee
okay then gonna try explaining it like that
you know how aluminium works, one of the byproducts are water. So i got an idea hey lets take 3 of them from refinseries, let water back to the first refinery on 2x speed thats gonna make me get rid both of the water and bulding another pump. Sounds great right? Well.. no i gave some water to it to start the process and now it stops. Too much water. Why? I DO NOT KNOW that why i ask. Tried slushing some of the water already
Ada says it'll kill me... I say fuck off don't tell me what to do you damn co pilot mfer
could you like send a pic of your setup showing how its built?
yes
the pipes
you might have throughput issues
the set between the 1st and 2nd refinery
from what i can see there are 2 that have a straight pipe from one to the other
but in the 3rd set there's a 2nd pipe joining in
1st of all
why is it all so spaced out
it"s like from 3 of them water goes to only one. Should be perfectly balaned 360 produced, 360 used
2nd
zoom out
sending all of it, had to figure out where place electric rod for this weird jetpack
maybe that i poured too much on the start? i thought i neeed to fill it up alitlle just to start the process
fun fact its only clogging on the bottom two, the first one from the up is perfectly fine
im currently trying to get rid some of the water to somehow balance it
you could make a small pipe that you can just drain if its too much
and if im slushing it it works just for a while like wtf its still only 360=360
im pretty sure whats happening is that the water from the pumps is being prioritized over the by product water
easiest and best way to fix that is by adding another set of refineries for the byproduct but you could probably also do something with a priority junction
i personally just throw the water out
but thats the problem, pipes are connected only in 360=360 way nothig from the pumps is going into the cycle
you still cut out a part of the setup in the pic
if you cant get a jetpack going well
im VERY close to spamming 20 buldings that are holding the water and just be nonchalant with that for an hour xd
use ladders
can i just let the heavy oil residue build up in the refiner when im making plastic? or will it stop production when it maxes out
how much bauxite are you using?
it'll stop
if outputs stop the machines will stop
can i just call you on pv? thats gonna be much easier
when i flush a fluid buffer does it all just disappear
sure?
yes but a much easier way of doing that would be to just build stuff to deal with all the heavy oil
turn it into fuel and burning it is probably the best
or you can use it to make plastic and flush it down the toilet to pollute the planet
is fuel an item that i can just pick up and put it into stuff
This will of course also annoy ada too
or do i gotta package
its a fluid but you can package it and use it to fuel your jetpack and also vehicles
where do i make it into packaged fuel?
package it to put into inventory
packager building
#math-and-meta message @cinder fiber i dont know exactly what you're doing but im pretty sure these are the same recipes
cast is easier, steel is better.
set up the first stage of refineries with the 4 water extractors to make alumina solution which will then be turned into aluminum scrap. pipe the water from that back into the first set of refineries and it will balance itself out over time
personally I avoid screws like the plague
Yeah, thats the goal eventually
but if you want to get value from them then steel it is
you could also just send that water off to a couple more refineries like i said ealier
or if you're lazy cast is fine
Just debating between unlocking cast rn or something else, since id rather do steel later
idk. maybe ill jsut go explore
the crashed harddrive ships exist for exploitation
collect them all for your collection
Ya avoid screws
cast screws is a great recipe
After all as satisfactory players we have no chance on getting screwed
Just because it skips a steP? Or am i mathing wrong
So might as well not use screws in recipes either
early on it has saved me time
cast skips having to turn rods into screws
yeah it cuts out the rod step, makes early game factories MUCH simpler
which is what makes it so much better
especially very early on since it also saves on power
I see.
I just have seperate factories for each core piece ngl.
:3 Like I have a factory to make rods and a 480 belt of rods that feeds other things including screws.
But im rebuilding atm. idk what to doooo lmao
A lot of people are very anti-screws because it's a high quantity item so you need to build it a little differently (not using one massive manifold) but especially now with blueprints it's really easy to do more modular screw setups
You know what I wanna see
A even more ridiculous end game screw recipe
Aluminum screws
You can already do aluminium screws
aluminum ingots => rods => screws exists 😄
Aluminium beams to screws exist
Did anyone see about 1.2
SAM based screws would be useless but make me smile
the tanker truck, the car people will have more fun.
I chose to interpret it as the mk2 factory cart
the factory car needs a more efficient update. I want it to launch me into the void.
you just need some carefully placed jump pads and you can live your dream
You know what could be cool...mk3 pipes
true
fusion power would go nicely in theme with the quantum tiers I think
but mk3 pipes
would you slot it in before or after ficsonium?
is a dream I will never give up
Another interesting idea ...hydro power...there is only a few areas where the game has rivers that could be useful for hydro power
mix ficsonium with liquid helium or something to have fusion power rods or something.
It would be like another geothermal power
sadly renewable resources will never be added, outside of mods ofc. mostly because of the need to pollute
at least anymore renewables sincee geothermal already fills the easy energy role and clean nuclear power is purposely a pain to make
but I think there's a power mod that adds new sources of power
forgot what it was called
I think solar or something could be added in a balanced way if they just give it some sort of upkeep/maintenance cost. Make solar need X/min silicon and copper sheets or something like that to run
maybe
more options for "fuel cost" => power would be interesting
I mean I they are more considering hydro then solar because solar can be used infinitely
Hydro at least would be limited by only having few places it could be put
That said hydro could be interesting as a battery system
Like a upgraded battery
I'll just stack turbines under the floating waterfalls in the north-middle oil area
You could pump water into a big tank in a high place while you had power and when your power is out gravity could make power
that would be cool
Another idea for you
What about giant tanks of sand
Because IRL they heat up sand to ridiculous tempatures
Then use the heat to boil water
that sounds like steam energy with extra steps
so are those mk2 and then the water stuff is mk3?
I kinda like it
Ohh, yes, keep doing that cuz pioneers definitely grow on trees
I think a lot of the community barely uses power storage as is so I definitely like the idea of giving them 2 more levels of it
since it uses sand, melted sand or like sillicon can be a byproduct
Guys, i'm doing oil and it's killing me.It's my first time doing it to
And I don't have fuel generators yet.So I have to figure out a way to deal with this.Heavy oil residue
the sound of refeineries will enter your mind in sleep
Someone please sell me on "fixed number of color swatches" instead of "just let me paint things a color".
petroleum coke and sink it
Or petroleum coke and coal generators
I also suggest getting coked up.
but you need coupons to unlock factory carts!
What if I already have the factory curt
then you should take a break and go build a factory cart skatepark
But big insulated sand tanks are great ways to store energy
big vat of molten salt
if they want to be cheeky about it they could implement one of those big stupid crane towers that stacks concrete blocks that techbros were pitching a few years ago
they took a short break from "what if trains, but stupider?"
Indeed yeah
Can we somehow turn biomass into nuclear energy for the lols
Because biomass can be used up to the fuel age
no but through sloopage you can make it so that a nuclear hog has more energy than uranium fuel rods
Would making a central hub for all crafting in the green zone be smart or stupid
there are more reasons to do that than to not
SWEET
you mean just a central factory?
for all crafting you mean like building materials and stuff right
I'd say the opposite
without a specific end goal, planning every step, and a lot of experience - it's going to end up being a giant mess
or the basic ones at least
do you plan on adding extra things to it later?
having all of your concrete and iron products and steel and stuff and one area is nice
idk why would it. we have depots
easy and not too time consuming to just use up a good chunk of the nodes in the grassy fields to get all your basic materials going and then expand out to other biomes and use depots for more advanced things
and you can always throw depots on once you have them
GOD i just jumpscared myself
how so?
with the little materials that fly into whatever you build
it spawned so that it jumped at me from over a foundation
humorous
😔
yes but depending on what gets changed some things might break
like 1.0 rebalanced the map a little bit
we wont be seeing anything like that in 1.2 but they are teasing a fluid rework so that might break some stuff
also when updating from U8 to 1.0 the map was reset
foliage, artifacts, everything
but factories and stuff stayed
I'd guess that breaking changes will be minimal
unfortunately there is no way to e.g. fix egregious bugs like infinite headlift without making somebodies factory require 1 extra pump when they unintentionally, unknowingly abused the bug. But does that mean that free infinite headlift should be ingame forever? I would say no, but changing it will cause an odd factory to stop working until reviewed.
yeah if they do it well im assuming that current things should mostly be fine
Maybe instead we use trucks to fix it
I'm in Phase 1 and my dog brought me 9 turbo motors, is this normal?
the lizard doggo provides
i ran out of concrete damn
time to conc more rete
try walking next time
guys wh
what if there was a trampoline that was compatible with jump pads and you researched it in the MAM and it basically just needed iron rods and fabric
how is there not a trampoline
does the starting location change how the mam works as well or no
oh
because i didnt find sulfer ther not a tree for sulver int he mam
i figure it out
it was because id idnt pick up sulfer yet
that it wasnt showing up in the mam
i totaly forgot about that i so use to just picking up so much stuff right off the bat and pretty much by time i get my mam out it like ready to go and star researching but this time was rushing in a diffent direction lol
sulfur more like gopher
has there been any word about building objects on the edge of blueprint machines, like stackable conveyor poles? i used to be able to do that a patch or two ago. the loss of the ability to do so really annoys me
dont think so
no but i did see that the next update gonna have trucks that can transport liquids
yes
i so excited
and 1.2 is also probably gonna have a rework to fluids
yep
they are more bothersome than they need to be
sulfur? Hardly even know 'er!
Poker?
I’d settle for pipes that could do it
that too
And maybe rails that trains could go on
Maybe I was drinking that one night, but I feel like someone mentioned, at some point, that there was a way to do "infinite" elevator height?
Josh
I wish I could spend 1000 hours building noodles
I need to automate concrete but I need splitters
What
Spitter needs a buf
They also need a buff
Maybe aimbot
The dune desert is a pain
What
Damnnn
I dont got foundations do im limited on my building area
Tf does dd mean
Ohh
God im stupid
Gf could need mean my girlfriend
working on MORE refinerys
What building makes ore?
miner
miner
uhhh miner mk3
i guess u could use the converter for that
What
matter conversion
what tier are you in rn?
Very beginning
the only building that extracts ore from nodes is the mining drill. are you talking about refining the ore into ingots or something?
Not the miner or refinery
I believe its a high tier building
that does sound like the quantum convertor
Idk give me a sec to see
the only building that sits on an ore node to produce units of ore are the mk1 to mk3 miners.
It doesn't sit on a node
Well converters don't make ore, they convert it and it's very expensive and generally pointless
that's the only thing that can output ore
you saw some modded junk if it's not either of those
The refinery
that doesn't output ore
smelters foundries and refineries can all produce ingots?
'better' in these cases are subjective though
I avoid refinery ingots like the plague
Why?
because they are massive, obnoxious and you end up needing an absolute ass ton of them
there's foundry recipes that are very similar but often need like 1/3 of the buildings for the same output
for example Copper Alloy, Iron Alloy and Tempered Caterium.
The 2 iron recipes dont make as much as the ones in the refinery
ok? Iron Alloy in the foundry exists.
and ... iron is everywhere
even if you avoid refineries I feel like they are still going to be the most placed building because of the amount of recipes that need them
much rather either
a) build in a spot that has more resources nearby
or
b) just import a bit of iron if I absolutely have to
The refinery still makes more per minute that the foundry ever could
yeah, there's enough recipes and items that have to have refineries that it's super annoying adding more to the mix
Iron alloy 75pm , Pure iron 65 pm.
and foundries are a lot smaller and easier to place
Only problem i see with using the refinery ingots is the sulfer for sulfuric acid
? you can use the water ones
I don't think you know the recipes very well
I dont mind taking a few hours to make a building that has refineries
you are realistically never going to use the whole map's resources anyway
Dont need to, to have refinery ingots
... I don't think you read numbers very well
Leached 50 -> 100 ingots
Pure 35 -> 65 ingots
nearly the same
Still makes more per minute
any case good luck with life
how do I get my mk2 miner to actually mine at 120 resources/min?
no stress, great time to over clock the miner then!
Is impure limestone just as good as normal? Or does it take more to get the same results?
it's technically more power per unit of limestone
but power is so easy and basically infinite that just using whatever is nearby is almost aways the easiest choice
How can I automate stuff
use an automated miner
feed an automated smelter
feed the ingots into an automated constructor
are you in the portable miner stage?
meaning you don't have regular miners unlocked
Just crafted 3 of them
if that's the case you're in the pre tutorial, you can't fully automate things yet
Can you bend belts?
yes
I think this is again the case of telling you to 'just try things'. You'll get it
keep pushing forward
When I try it says it’s an invalid shape
you are bending it too much then
or trying to use straight mode in a weird spot
that too
So don’t bend it like Beckham
I don't get that reference but I am gonna say no. belts can bend but you need enoughh space for them to bend into a valid shape
Soccer reference
ah\
David Beckham
but anyway knowing how much a belt can bend is something you get used to the more you play the game
I’ve made a loop and can now go for a ride
conveyor belt rollercoasters can be fun
Pure node would do 240 per minute with a mk2
Ok fun is over
"She's not Lebanese, she's Punjabi"
Back to digging and making
That was a real throwback
Yep
When's the last time you watched that?
Easily 18 or so years for me
I never did
If I set a miner to get ore for me and a conveyor to move it, can I collect the ore off the belt to use?
yeah
you can grab stuff off belts
How?
well when somethhing is on a belt it is visually there, walk up to them then click to interact.
The mk1 blueprints kind of suck... I managed to fit a 9 smelter setup with balanced outputs and a single input in it but that was kind of hell
so make it in two blueprints
or don't use it if it 'sucks'
Mk.1 is a bit like building a blueprint on a postage stamp XD
mk1 anything sucks
mk1 pumps push
I have the 9-1-9 1-9 and 9-1 balanced in/out, splitter, and merger as blueprints already
just hooking them all up to 9 smelters while fitting all of that in was a pain.
advancing to the next is the goal
"so make it in two blueprints" next time. make life easier for yourself
Well hopefully it'll save some time
I mean I kind of can't...
not with how this is set up
while I'm open to the possibility of whatever you're doing somehow being impossible to do in 2 chunks, I'm also dubious.
put the second one on the side instead
or build a 2nd bp that has the top floor in it
nodes don't run out
seems like mine did
if you run out of coal you're either using more than you're spitting out of your miner, your belts are capping the output, or you accidentally turned off your miner
its been too long since I played, idk how to troubleshoot the issue at this point
It's meant to have one input go to exactly 9 smelters to fill out a 270/min processing, then those go into that bigger tower you see which takes those and merges them before splitting them to 9 again to get a balanced output. If I split any of it, I would have to hook everything up manually and it wouldn't be modular
all part of the design choice.
also if you built it next to the first bp, belts auto connect now
so no manually connecting it up
I think if I tried to split it up into chunks with belts that are supposed to line up that might have ended up even harder lol..
oh well at least I got a super compact 9 smelter line with balanced outs
all part of design choices
Just took a lot of finangling
load balancing in general is generally a pain in the ass
Lol yeah sec let me grab another screeny
mostly pointing out that mk1 blueprints don't suck, it's just like if yo uwere trying to use a volkswagon beetle to move house. Gonna be a pain.
multiple good reasons to not use them 🙂
Eh it works
so do manifolds
both equally efficient, just if you add load balancing to any sort of build it will automatically become much more painful
which is a valid choice. Just something you need to accept
Manifolds must be new, I don't think we had those last time I played
well haven't got em yet anyway
manifolds are the most basic way to build belts
this is a manifold. It'll feed these smelters at 100% efficiency as long as you have enouhg parts per min and a fast enough belt https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1407002332239237210/1407004901015294013/image.png?ex=68fed5ad&is=68fd842d&hm=9b0641dad342cef4022877793e04563e2a8ff2c00622affcc9413af907fa4bb0&=&format=webp&quality=lossless
A manifold isn't a specific item, it's just a chain of splitters/mergers
much like a load balancer isn't a specific item
Are there any benefits to collecting power slugs?
Oh you just meant that way of setting up splitters
Yes
you can turn the slugs into things
Yeah I opted for one big tower to save footprint.
Then I made it also have surface level inputs by bringing the outputs down.
yup anything that isn't load balanced is a manifold
Er other way around but you get it
I'm looking at your BP and a manifold would be more space efficient
as it basically always is
Just a convenient number, and I wanted the blueprint for it to fit in a small horizontal space
well the merger itself is on the right in that image
That's not that big. The load balancer was me linking a merger to a separator that was inverted in order to merge 9 inputs into one output and then redistribute that into 9 outputs
For what purpose is this?
Balancing smelter output into any number of machines
or just any machine in general
it's just X:1:X where X<=9 I guess
and I wanted it all on one block to play around with lifts
Then yeah, you should just do a manifold, cuz that's basically already what you're doing, it would save space and probably belts.
Not a scenario for balancers
It does look cool though
for example, the image I pinged you in #screenshots
If live to be able to mine copper ore with a miner but each deposit doesn’t have anywhere to put one
I’d love*
I mean I looked up manifolds, but that doesn't look like exactly what I'm doing at all.
break apart the rocky deposit on top
It does on the input side, but not on the output side
Excellent! Got it
just go up to stuff and press E, that will solve a lot of your questions
Manifolds are fantastic once belts are upgraded to Mk.3 and they are kind of "OK" before that point and "Amazing" Mk.4 - Mk.6
will there be updates soon for machine noises that goes right through walls? I just dont like the sound of the noisy generators when Im near the power plant
you have as much info from the video in #announcements as anyone else
also that sounds extremely unlikely
The walls do kinda block sound to a certain degree
Do trains have a max distance? My train says it cannot make it to my station across the map
Not that I'm aware of, sounds like signals or stations wrong
Yeah no I get that, they're pretty simple to set up, it's just I think what I'm doing with that balancer is a lot different from a manifold...? 🤔
Will admit it's definitely a lot easier to hook up a manifold though lol
I agree balancers are not really useful in this game however
Hmm okay
Tbh, it was a pain to make lol so maybe yeah, time probably better spent just haphazardly building stuff
Common mistakes are the station the wrong way around, or a signal is wrong somewhere along the route. Basically the pathfinder can't find a viable route usually due to one of those two things, or just no physical route, or a track break, anything like that
In the start that is kind of how it is, the game limits the player big time in order to gradually introduce stuff and "progress"
I've already gotten to the nuclear and above 3-5 years ago with a friend. I kind of just wanted to take things at my pace this time and see the new stuff
This blueprint maker is... kind of limited rn
Yea, it's not like Factorios "unlimited" massively adaptive blueprint system. So, gotta' kind of work with what we got 🤷. Learning what it can and cant do is helpful
My personal recommendation would be to just plop down a train and carefully drive the route, check every signal and intersection, chances are you'll encounter the problem somewhere. Check the destination station to make sure it's the correct way around when you get there
From what I can see of the manifold thing it's basically just like... a consecutive merge of each machine's output onto one belt, which you then have to split back out how you want... whereas I'm taking 3 machines at a time and putting them into one merger, then merging those three into one more merger, before splitting them back out into 1->3 splitter array, unless I'm missing something.
I think I did use manifolds when I had a mod that would kind of connect them up for me a long time ago, I guess it's nice they have blueprints to do that now lol
its really just hte simplest method of connecting up groups of machines
have group A send X parts per min to group B. Done
Manifold refers to a fill method where Conveyor Splitters or Conveyor Mergers are aligned in a series (that is, one after another), usually parallel to the arrangement of buildings. The setup is compact and can be expanded easily.
Manifolds work because full machines consume only what they need. Once...
Yep, auto-connect can be helpful (sometimes). It really depends on how you play or what you want. Sometimes it's more work than it's worth IMO. I find myself pruneing blueprints that were designed for it so, can be a double edged sword situation 🤷
Upgrading belts on a auto-connect blueprint
😆 can add extra headaches
And yeah my input rn is basically 1 splitter -> 3 splitters-> each machine which is a bit different in nuance but pretty similar to that injection setup so that's why I said that the input side was similar enough to what I had so yeah I agree with that, prob would have been better off just using manifold on input
Are those clouds of yellow dust acid?
I guess I just wanted to see if I could somehow fit a load balanced 9 output into that tiny blueprint XD
you mean the toxic gas clouds?
just unlocked oil. any tips on making it work right?
process it on location
process the byproduct into something yo ucan burn or sink
pay attention to byproducts
otherwise it's exactly the same
byproducts are evil
Use one of the tools to do the math for you 😆
Yes, I didn’t know they were deadly until I tried walking through some
yup
Respawned so many times it’s not funny
you gotta be careful around them
MK2 pipes are not 600u
(iirc there was an issue where they were like 599 or smth)
yes, if you have a lot of healing and equipment to navigate hazards such as the toxic gas
- food
- pulse nobelisk
- parachute
- jetpack
- bladerunners
- car the invincibility machine
like what kind of byproducts?
Heavy Oil Residue, Polymer(?)
if you wanna make plastic/rubber or fuel you will have byproducts
Altitude is your friend, if you are in a situation that is "killing you" zoop a ramp and BOOM. You are no longer being killed 🤷
Those things are not available early game
for plubber it is heavy oil
Add filters to the list if you don't want to get damaged by poison
for fuel it is residue
Gas Mask + Filters
any way to reduce the amount of byproducts?
stock up on iron plates and concrete
Don’t have access to them either
no, you have to get rid of them somehow
or you use alt recipes
nope
best way to get rid of it is to sink it
but byproducts are always thhere for oil
they are dangerous because if 1 product backs up the entire machine shuts down
how do i know if it starts to build up?
but why do you want to explore if you don't have basic stuff
it won't take long and you will know if you aren't using them enough
Basically you can just skybridge explore as much as you want, so if you want an easy time exploring just make a mini concrete factory and a iron plate factory for personal use. Let it pile up overnight or something, into several boxes, and then grab the tech for building floors and ramps. You can also just wall off enemies near things you want to grab
just like products byproducts are shown of how much is made a minute
If you find a sulfur source, super easy to get bombs early and bomb everything to death too lol
they added a full box to satisfactory
