I 100% agree.

I tend to build quickly and somewhat messy to just get shit off the ground ASAP and will do a lot of AFK manual crafting to get past the first phase and start a coal plant.

Once you have coal, and a decent supply of iron plates, rods and concrete, then you can build some nicer stuff and destroy yoru starting stuff.

Explore for advanced parts (to either sink or use to unlock milestones early) -- AFK Manual Craft (or AFK let your factories run).

You can also use Advanced Settings temporarily to cheat your way forward... or find a save (or make one) where you've gotten past the boring stuff to use in the future as a "template" when starting anew.

okay so step one make sure your coal belts are delivering enough coal/min to supply how much all your plants are burning/min

if that seems fine, then look at your water pumps, make sure they are doing the same and that it isnt set up in a way that they don't get enough water because of the pipe flow limits.

the standard ratio that most people use is i believe 8 coal plants to 3 water pumps.

Generally it's because they try to centralize screw production using slow belts which are unsuited for it, and don't realize that that's the game's way of suggesting that you don't centralize them. :)

Depending on what alt recipes you've got, then recipes which replace screws with something else might be more resource-efficient, so that's certainly a good reason to avoid them if you're doing that. Though IMO that's hardly worth hating them for. :)

Sounds like a bug, in a way that normally when u die, it spawns a crate with your stuff.. And if that setting is on, it just auto transfers the stuff from crate to player when u respawn.

But as youre outside map limits the crate dont spawn, and cant transfer to you.

Iron pipe makes steel pipes out of iron ingots. With a few other alts that use pipes instead of beams or w/e, you can make a lot of steel related stuff without actually making any steel ingots.

Idk how it works out power-wise, but not having to gather coal/oil for steel is often nice. Sure, it takes a lot of extra iron in exchange, but if the extra iron is easier to get than coal, I usually just skip steel.

Solid steel used to be really important because it's the cheapest way to make steel and steel was used a lot, but now it lost a lot of its importance thanks to iron pipe allowing you to bypass making steel entirely
