Of course. I use elevated for high capacity areas, but for lower capacity areas T junctions like this is perfectly adequate most of the time

I am playing multiplayer with 2 friends and one of them got crashed, after he rejoined he lost all milestones while us still had it (he basically got all his milestones reset) then we tried to take a save before the crash and then I also lost the milestones while the other friend (the hoster) still had them. (sorry if I am using the wrong channel for asking questions I was just wondering if someone had the same issue)

looking at my base i feel like my biggest flaw is how to handle outputs.
like everything is disordered. the chain to make complex items is too big and uncoordinated. i think it's because i don't plan things and just build as i go adding what i need immediately
i also struggle with joining multiple outputs or distributing multiple inputs. like rn i'm setting up on two pure iron nodes and trying to manage the output of 6 smelters and then whatever amount of assemblers i need to make more reinforced plates and modular frames is making my head hurt.

my coal power plants arent getting enough water, i have 3 but my water pump isnt pumping enough water

0 sec - 6 hours is possible, you only need a bot to do it, users can not choose 3 seconds but bots can change it to any time between 0 and 6 hours.
pumps only provide headlift, not flow. if it's not flowing at all, it may be faulty connection. If you go uphill, you need pumps (if still not working, make a #1038092680493801533 thread for it)

my friend and I had the thought to ride the HUB spaceship to the top. then we did at the top of the sky box and now all of our inventory is stuck on a permanent deathcrate insanely up high in the sky. what can we do? that sucks. would expect that to be patched after 1.0

So, I have 3 coal power plants next to one another, all have full water supply and full coal supply but 1 of the 3 keeps blowing its fuse. Why might that be?
Should I have 1 power pole that all 3 connect to and then go out from there because at the moment they all connect to one another and then out from the one to the grid
Mk1 pipe does 300/min, which is why you can’t hook all 8 generators up with a single pipe
You want all the generators on one grid. If you connect one grid to another that’s already blown, it will trip the fuse on the other so you will have to reset the breaker for the whole thing

the question was fitting 360 water per minute through pipes.
you just use 2 pipes and split your water collection between them.
This trips a lot of players up, based on how often it’s asked here
IMHO properly figuring out coal power is the first “boss” of the game
I ran 8 gens with 1 pipe and 3 extracters
then either you had those gens spread out along hte line or you weren't running at 100%

The trick is that no single segment of pipe is carrying more than 300. Reference the diagrams from above

I did start in the rocky desert after finishing tutorial. I found the grasslands to be very constraining, desert gives a lot of flat ground more or less

Doesn’t the height of the snap always follow the terrain a bit? It has for me at least. All else fails use different sized foundations to get different heights or extend a foundation that is at the preferred height
I was following a guide and it said 2m foundations always snap to the same grid all over the world
They snap to the same N/S/E/W grid, not vertical grid

But 3 on the same grid only produce 225?
coal plants at 100% clock speed make 75 MW, if you have 2 producing 250MW then they are overclocked and the 3 producing 225 are at normal speed
that probably means your coal plants aren't running at 100%
So adaptive control units can be sunk for 100k points, that’s a lot
The recipe isn’t really expensive once I automate the computers and heavy modular frames, and a full industrial container can hold 2.4k, or almost 200m points

you could try Construction Preferences, it allows you to make them longer but not infinite

I got mine sinking the end game space elevator parts while trying to Max out ionized fuel.
I've checked what i need to do and im tweaking, I need to build base, rafinery, global train line, computer factory, heavy modular frame factory, power plant with enough space for 512 fuel gens and finaly destroy or shut down small factories producing things like 10 Rotors or 20 modular frames🫥
if you just keep sinking parts as you go you will get all the tickets you need

What don’t you get? If your production plan needs 350% total clocking, you can divide that up however you want so that it adds up to 350. So 3 machines at 100 and one at 50, or 7 machines at 50, or any other combination you like

modeler is all manual, so it doesn't really give you the %, just say your're using 5.7 of machines
One might say "3.6 machines" the other says "360%"

5.7 machines doing x recipe is the same as 570%
so either I get that 5 machines and divide the extra 70% between them, of put a 6th one at 70%
However you want as long as you get 570% in total in the end
generally underclocking is better than overclocking since space is the last thing you lack in the game, and you can save a power shard which is a limited resource ||until it's not||
you wanna underclock machines when they lack resources to run at full speed because they have a startup lag of a second or more, so they will stall if they lack items
you can do literally whatever you want as long as they add up to 570% (or more)
If it adds up to more it means you are over producing and not everyone might want that

and if it's bottlenecked further up, it will give you exactly what you want and not more
and you don't have to bother with clocking
one bottleneck at the end of production and everything gets throttled accordingly even if the clocks are more than they need to be
if you're not tight on resources or timing with one machine depending on some other machine, it's not really an issue to overproduce, the backup will last long enough for the machine to restart production
for example ||more advanced oil products or aluminum prodiction chains will require a well running setup to avoid the whole thing just stopping at some point|| but most basic item only products (with mostly no byproduct) wont be much of an issue to whip up without much thought

my friend has also experienced random crashes but they are infrequent, only once or twice per session at most

I figured it out! Its the HUD scaling (experimental). I turned it up cause my eyes are bad. But I guess it cuts certain stuff out with no way to scroll or recover

UI is kinda bad in this game, it doesn’t scale to monitor resolution
So on a narrower than 16:9 display parts of the UI cut off
built a copper foundry in a experiment save i use for testing stuff and just building in general
(foundries are huge structures held by 4 pillars, they specialize in a single resource, for example copper and build every constructor and smelter recipe for said resource (ex: copper ore > copper ingot > copper sheet, wire)
i have my tooltip scaling (which is the only ui scaling i could find) set to 1.5 and theres nothing cut off for me
and for mmy resolution which is 2560x1080 the ui scales fine
there is even an option that improves the field of sight for widescreen reslutions, which i found today and nudges the tool/weapon into shape and reduces skewing at the edges

Good milestone to reach, it makes the game somewhat less frantic thanks to power being fully automated for the first time.
Although I find that Biomass burners are needed to start the water pumps before switching them over to coal when building in a new location
Yeah, I dont have to run around trying to find which burner ran out in my mess of buildings
Leave the old burners in place, they won't burn fuel until they have to, so it makes a decent failover in the early game.
Correct, keep your biomass system ready to go incase of a outage. I made that mistake and had to set up all my biomass again to get the coal system going

Power stores have a very narrow window of usefulness, once you reach fuel, you can outgrow them hard, I only built mine for the hell of it, not for any real use, they will never ever get to discharge,
Whats crazy is that I have 1 Mk 2 Coal miner with level 3 belts thats giving me steel as well as fueling 6 coal plants with no issues
My old save has 8001 power stores, in that game the entire show is being run from them after I shut off the mains with a mind to fix the save after 1.0 hit, they'll keep everything going for about 11 days, I never went back to fix it 🤣 , I'm near 800h into my current save instead.

The impure nodes, or the distant ones are actually good for specific quantities for lines, or building supplies while you exploit more productive nodes for factory expansion.

i would never diassemle unless your factory has a huge mistake. otherwise, just go to a new node

im working on creating a fuel system. my pipes were unable to get full so i started systematically deleting all my pipes. eventually i deleted all of them. then i accidentally circled a pipe onto the junction its coming from and it has rocket fuel in it.
eithout being connected to any other pipe
the junction is providing rocket fuel
yeah I can almost guarantee it's back flow from improper pipe layouts
there is not other pipes. and i have done this same exact thing before. it works
the thing with improperly putting pipes down is sometimes you can have a delicate house of cards that works
the lizard doggos and spitters share it and slurp it up
and many other times it'll just collapse on you.

Physically, no, but practically, you will have a crazy slow train if you add too many wagons without enough locos, I had a 400 car train with 1 loco, it moved at 13km/h after really slow acceleration. also really long trains won't climb slopes well, if at all.

Not speed, more like train speed decreases the more cars you have vs locos.
If driving a train down a slope it will accelerate as well.

Full refund on dismantle, so you'll get most everything you've used back. Of course, if trying to make it better you'll need a little extra but it's a start.
That actually sounds like your HDR is actually WORKING now, but if the game doesn't support it, then it'll look messed up.

The exception is oil processing stuff, that can float any time
may as well get a mod that flattens the map
My west coast oil processing floats above the ocean, my blue crater oil processing and fuel plant floats above the lake
I do build my rail platforms and pylons elevated but use cement pillars to hold them up
Technically, I could put in the effort to turn those floating platforms into proper decorated offshore rigs so it isn't technically floating, but with how huge refineries are, I don't really want to bother with that

yo is someone able to help me here with my coal plant? this shits not making sense, ive been working on it for like a week.
i have 54 generators overclocked to 200% and i have each 300 pipe of water going into 3 machines (200% means they need 90 water per minute) but for some reason the flowrate of the pipes arent pushing the water into the machines well and theyre running out of water and shutting off. ive done the math here pretty much perfectly but these pipes just arent pushing the water
even the 1st generator in the chain of 3 is running out, so its not like it being an overflow system is the issue
show us the plant
i geniunely dont know how id show it off with screenshots, all of the pipework is in between foundations and its very hard to get screenshots

i cant remove the walls, its not just a single layer, its like Multiple layers and HOURS of design work, id have to essentially dismantle the entire plant in order to show it off, is no one able to just let me screenshare?

i hadn't played satisfactory for the better half of a year and man i forgot how genuinely bad trains are to learn and troubleshoot, i'd rather build factorio trains with no blueprinting whatsoever than use them honestly
They aren't that bad once you learn their quirks
I'm being lazy in my current playthrough and just using monorails
it would be highly complicated, theres 18 pipes
there isnt any easy way to learn their quirks
some of them work and others dont, so if it was a headlift issue all of them would be shutting off
Sometimes people can easily spot the issues though just seeing what your setup is.

If you can at least get pictures of the extractors, pumps, and generators that can clue people in and can see what they need more of

I read a guide on how the trains work but it's not a short read for sure, still has gotten me to understand them for the most part
like, i dont know who's idea it was not to, but having no way to see your train system from top down nor a way to actually see where they are going is just bad game design
I don’t mean to sound like “that guy” but it’s not very inclusive. I have a learning disability. The concept of showing this off in screenshots genuinely makes no sense to me. As simple as it may seem it confuses the fuck out of me. I’m a visual learner and teacher so a VC is the easiest thing for me
You can see them on the map and iirc checking the station let's you see the status of all trains
you can see the location of the train not the tracks or where they are going
Pretty sure you can check the timetable at the station at least

I've found satisfactory trains to be pretty straightforward to get working, but factorio trains are next level
Those visual changes they made to the train GUI a while back make a huge difference
Factorio trains will also kill you
It's strange because satisfactory trains look way more dangerous
I love trains in both games though
Factorio for the sheer depth of the train system, and satisfactory because there's something really satisfying about seeing giant trains roll around in 3D space
Still waiting for 300 km/h satisfactory bullet trains though lol

its barely even got extra depth to fix the issue
the issue is that satisfactory doesn't tell you any info besides "train wont go cuz of this issue" (the issue is one of the multiple signals that all have to be manually checked somewhere across the massive distance of track)

Pretty much. Speedrun through it to get coal running, speedrun through coal to get liquid fuels running
Hot tip: dont throw out all your biomass though. Packaged biofuel for jetpacks is clutch
Place a locomotive at different points of track and see what it does when I ask it to go to a stop
like, genuinely if satisfactory just let you see tracks, routes, and blocks then it'd actually have trains usable by the general player

I usually just color coded them by fluid, so I can see them at a glance
the satisfactory map is like a little over 5 kilometers wide

In factorio, you very rarely need to transport ore 5000 tiles
It's only if you play railworld and get to megabase level where you transport ores so far
Usually it's just a few hundred tiles, similar to satisfactory

Anyway, I don't mind the slower trains and acceleration in satisfactory
I like that they're lumbering beasts and have more realistic acceleration and speed values
But I do love the idea of bullet freight trains, as unrealistic as they are
