Id take many recipies over 6 slots any day

last thing, if you stay on top of your hard drives, and you research all you can, every time you unlock a new crafting recipe (like say Motors or something) you can then start scanning your hard drives again, and get all the alt recipes related to those items
personally I would say no, since with DD you rarely need any inventory storage anyway
For me it depends when I get the +6 slots. If it's still early Phase 1, I take that over just about anything. Later on it depends what the other option is.

DD needs some upgrades before I'd say it's worth relying on for 100% of your building needs, like at least 200% capacity and 60 items per minute speed.

When I built my coal power plant, I had to transport a lot of items my inventory was always full.

It's nice having the extra inventory space when exploring though, let's you pick up and carry some of the higher tier parts, even if you don't have the manual uploader upgrade.

that was my entire factory, 1 constructor and so forth for every 1 material and if i needed that material for smth else i tossed a splitter on that, only time i made another factory was if i needed a new resource which i tossed into the mix

it should be able to handle the beginning part of the game pretty decent if u put settings low but dont place a bunch of batteries as i had issues with my frames with a 2060 (yes I know but it performs pretty well for the games i play)

hello, I saw on different youtube video, while on construction the player can lift an object, conveyors Poles, Pipeline Support, merger,. Is there a keybinding which allow that ? I only manage to make it go forward, backward, left, right. But not up or down.

I will disagree with the above statement. Most issues comes from the lack of pumps and not waiting until all pipes are full.
The important deal is to startup liquid using buildings to start up one by one instead of insntantly.
All over clocking generators does is save space.

I'm remaking my two Oil Generator plant (each with tenth of Oil Generator), and learning that we must let the pipe be full, help a lot. A lot less of problem.

Just don't look at the depot. During builds, Items get pulled from it automatically.
So I'm having an issue that blueprints I made way before 1.0 and 1.1 in experimental mode, so no longer show up in normal mode since yesterday.
I noticed last night that my blueprints do not work in a savegame in normal mode (yes, I have copied them from other savegames just like I've been doing in the past 3 years). Any idea ?
What shows up now is just one element of a, for example, huge blueprint.
I do have all resources ready, so there's nothing wrong there.
Blueprints I downloaded from the internet dΓ³ work.
Pretty annoying, redoing the blueprints cost a sh*pload of work/time.
I agree that 1.1 BP gonna break most of the BPs if not all.
Lifts connected to Splitters etc also got an extra belt inside them which is not connected to anything if you got a BP from 1.0 to 1.1 so beware.
Try removing them all from your current game then copy one that's not been working. See if it'll show up and work.

Coming into this very late.
As far as liquids go, where are a ton of little things you gotta watch out for.
sloshing, pump placement, priming the system, etc
Unreal aint wrong, you CAN move liquids long distances, and it works perfectly fine. You just need to have a rough idea on what you're doing
However, things like Oil, I wouldnt move super far, it's usually just easier to build a factory at the source, or relatively close to it.
Another thing to consider is that gas's dont require headlift, which is something to factor later on.
But the main spirit of what I was telling Sparrow was, its always easier to drag a line of coal to a water source, than run 3+ pipes way over land to some coal power plants.
And this is all for the early game, and maybe first time finding and building something for oil, once you been doing it for a minute, you could in theory pipe across the map with no issues. God help you if you have to troubleshoot though.

It does go to show the setup even at its simplest with no recycle loop is brittle as all hell, one slight issue and it'll irrecoverably fold up requiring a hard purge to reset.

I don't understand how it stalled if you didn't have waste and fresh merged, can you post pics?
A lack of miner input should stall the first refinery, causing an equal reduction on fresh and waste and no excess water in the waste pipe
It was just short of bauxite due to a forgotten clock on one impure, so it got 420 ore instead of 600, so what happened is the three intake refineries weren't taking up the required water, and the alumina refineries weren't taking up the expected alumina solution, both outputs (water first) built up until the cluster went dark, fully wedged.
The mine in question had its shards, but I never dragged the overclock to max.

Yeah, the fresh water is consistent going into one refinery, the other two refineries on bauxite processing are entirely wastewater fed, no crossover, but it is just one of 20 groups, the other 19 are running full tilt.
Basically, I was only producing 11500 ingots instead of 12000 π€£
It is a good solution overall, max efficiency, but not the simplest π And yeah it can fail like that if you don't make sure to starve fresh first
Fresh won't get starved, ever, because that is connected to only one in three refineries total, and to ensure the numbers work, that one in three refineries also run at 90% clockspeed, the wastewater refineries are at 105%
Nothing should get starved, but if something does, you can wire things up so that it's the fresh side

Back in a bit, I'm going to go out and leave my refineries to do their busy work, fingers crossed I ironed out the remaining issues.
New phases/tiers would mean having to rebalance the entire map/recipes/gameflow yet again, and CSS just aren't interested in doing so
I do remember a while ago. that there isn't a 0% chance of getting new gamemodes. but it's taken them what. 7-ish years to make the map we are currently using? I don't blame them for not wanting to make a new map.
I definatly wouldn't mind an optional map. where its procedural. but you only get access to it once you beat the game
And yeah, new maps are also quite unlikely, though I think they haven't discounted the possibility of other maps in the future as DLC or something like that. Though I don't think they've ever made a definitive statement on that one way or the other

(And it wouldn't be any time remotely soon, if they do decide to do a new map eventually)
So I know someone who used to work for CFS (he left because he started his own game dev company) and there are plans for more phases. Long before we got to know there was going to be a 5th phase, he already told me about the lively plans of phase 6 and 7. Since he told me what to expect in phase 5 was exactly true, I'm sure his info about 6 and 7 are true too. But I kept my mouth shut as he asked me to, so I will now too.

I am personally extremely confident that that information is wrong. Perhaps it was accurate at some point, but CSS have been quite clear about phase/tier scope for some time now

New phases/tiers would inevitably mean breaking people's factories again, because the map resources/recipes/nodes/etc would need to be rebalanced entirely to account for the new phases
It just doesn't make sense to do that in a post-1.0 world
All I know is that they are in fact in talks with several game devs about SF2. But that's at least 5 years away from us now, since there are only talks, nothing visual yet.
you can expect updates similar to 1.1, with no major game changes but adding smaller content and large QoL things. tiers and especially a map are pipe dreams imo

If this is your first time playing the game, building good factory foundations (metaphorical foundations) is good, once you been going for a bit in this game, and you can always download an Early BP Designer mod that gives you access to mk.3 in milestone 1

What does closed network mean?
I just skip the rebar gun and go straight to actual gun, so much better imo
If your power grid experiences a melt down of some kind, its easier to diagnose if its segregated
Additionally, if you are smart and ensure that your power lines arent just interconnected without regard, you can power down entire factories with ease/remove the outbound connection from a power plant to jump start/fix it away from the grid.
It is purely so that you can fix problems IF they arise

For instance, if I cut a single wire from my coal power plant, the rest of the my world (its an early save with friends) goes dark, so that way I can power the factory on its own stuff
The miners/water pumps are all in a closed loop that can be started with 3 biomass burners, self sustain itself, and then be reconnected to the "main" grid

The thing you need to be aware of and plan for is...
Lets say you have a factory making motors, and then another factory elsewhere making encased beams.
Each of these factories should be on a closed grid as well, where you can easily cut power to the entire plant/production stream from miners to manufacturers in a single point you can easily get to

Nuke plant humming along but going to take hours (and hours) to fully come on line. One mistake was not running the fuel rod floor and storing as much fuel as possible to preload all the reactors while working on the rest of it π¦ And of course the REAL problems won't show till the entire thing is at capacity.

It's not a one size fits all solution. That's why it's an alternate recipe
but the base recipe is alrady super cheap, why would you need an alternate

I'd say the DD is the biggest difference maker. Even with the old recipe, and with stack size of 1, I'd still use the alt to put them into the DD

You need hundreds of them to put down automated miners and stuff. In the early-midgame it's also sometimes nice to drop 20 of them on a new resource node to mine it quickly (this can massively exceed the speed of your best belt, if you just wanna fill a container to build a bunch of something).
Low throughput automation can take care of all of the automated miners that you could use.
Grabbing materials and handcrafting 500 of them during an afk and then leaving a few stacks in the depot uploader slots can also take care of it, but hey, it's an option
you are probably overstressing its flow rate
if in doubt, derate pipes to 2/3 of listed flow rate to account for backflow on uneven-split-junctions.
if there are still issues, it's likely headlift

unless you overproduce or store rods, the fill time with the water off is the same, regardless of the number of reactors

It can use everything from solid biofuel/coal to nuclear fuel rods, as posted by @leaden ether above, click the bench at the back of the vehicle.
If you open it, then click on the little icon where the fuel goes, it'll shopw you. But at an early stage you can throw coal into it

Stuid Question of the day. Why is my power Production fluctuating. I get most of my Power from Rocket Fuel and every generator is full
You SURE they are 100% all running at 100%? I have two RF towers and one runs pretty steady but the other I screwed up the RF generation at the bottom and it fluctuates enough to cause some of the last generators on the line to go on and off randomly. (Been too lazy to tear it down and fox it like I did on the second one)
Geothermal, trains, another power plant has issues, or you're wrong and some RF generators are, in fact, not full
You can estimate which one it is by the amount the power fluctuates (if it's in multiples of 250, then it's fuel gens at 100% etc)
Could this be an experimental issue. I Am flying around checking all the GEnerators and all seem to have 50
production fluctuates between 72 and 74 MW and I have like 4 trains
Look at the % number. If they are periodically idling do to lack of fuel for even small amounts of time you might not see it in the fuel buffer number, but it might say 97% on the generator

no i have 2, 240 belts, 1, 110 belt, 1, 80 belt and 2, 40 belts of screws. I have 6 assemblers making rotors though 1 of them is overclocked to 250% so it needs 250 screws instead of 100. how would I feed each assembler the screws they need for maximum efficiency

Whelp, it took 5.5 hours since startup to get all 30 reactors steady and on line. They are still not completely buffer filled. But none of them are going idle any more. And I used some sloops to speed it up too... Given that a reactor takes 5 minutes to consume one fuel rod. It seems a little overkill that their internal buffer holds 50 of them -.- Five would have been PLENTY.
You can get going pretty fast if you have a lot of open semi-flat ground to slide jump across, but you'll wind up hitting a bump or a hill that will kill your momentum eventually.
That is one reason I use load balancers to feed reactors, no wind up time and it culls radiation.
i take back everything i said water is not gettin to the middle plants fast enough so i need 3 extractors instead of what shouldve been 2
Yah, you need 360 water per minute, which is 3 extractors at 100% clock speed. There's other ways you can do it as well, like 4 extractors at 75%, then you can link each extractor to exactly 2 generators.

I'd say try Rocky Desert
North West is my favourite starting spot, but you can also get really good starts in the North East and South East corners of the biome.

trucks and trains also dont need to be upgraded

last night for instance, i pushed a rail line down the length of the canyon down into rocky desert to the spot that ramps up to crater lakes and down to coal lake. building that track without decorating it took a good 3 hrs of work

use mk2 belts sparingly. they're really expensive

the game is a cozy game, resources arent that finite and you can copy paste blueprints and stuff
Be careful entering into caves. At the very least, don't enter them at night with the lights off.

Yeah, all the mods I use are only because I've been playing since alpha. I may have never gotten to the end of the game, but I'm pretty sure I have more than 1000 hours collectively with it.

sort of, if you get the rocks that are above gives you a tad more, then get a portable miner which helps a bit and you can put multiple on a node.
use the auto miners you build
and you're in the pre tutorial at that point really

I would make 3, find a copper, iron and limestone to throw on each.

I'd throw a few on each node before you get permanent miners honestly
they don't mine very fast individually
especially limestone and iron. pain in butt for those compared to copper.

although, i tend to get distracted.
oh something else to pay very close attention to, the MAM. That one is in your 'special' section of your build menu.

this game is really nice to sit back and let yourself be immersed, as in you're not timed, your not going to be shot at, well most of the time, i usually have the animals on passive lol.
the worst part about controller is not being able to type things for searching/filtering
so if youre gonna use controller i'd keep a keyboard nearby anyway

the only way you'd be able to manage it with a controller is adding a ton of sub menu actions that would add a lot of time
