Shatter's range is pretty much point blank to the extent that it's nearly identical to your melee. It packs a punch, but it's debatable.
Stun rebar is an absolute god against everything that isn't a nuclear hog where you just stun it and wack it until it's either dead or not stunned, where you just reload the next shot and repeat.
Oh and the rebar gun has more per-hit damage than the gun.

what the game does use which would be difficult to rip out is its dependence on epic's online servers to broker multiplayer sessions
There's a command line option to disable EOS
yeah, you can disable it and go only ip connecting, but the stuff is still built into the game
regardless, CSS is pretty on-record as saying the game is drm free and doesn't mind if you make copies of it for your personal use

Why are railway signals so hard to understand? They seem simple at first glance, yet I find them utterly illogical. Am i the only one confused?

Er... maybe take it in your inventory and push it into a water-related system or fluid/industrial buffer.
When I was first learning signals in Factorio, I just kept repeating the mantra "Chain in, Block out" in this case "Path in, Block out".
For every entrance to an intersection, put a Path signal. After every exit of an intersection, put a block signal.
You can put path signals inside intersections in some places to clear unused routes so 2 trains can pass, but you can wait on this a bit until you start to understand the overall gist.

You can also just put blocks everywhere
The train experts can give a better answer, but it might be that the block signal has to be far enough away from the interesection for your longest train to clear its tail.
Please do not remind me of Factorio.
There's a few of these rules of thumb, but they mostly apply only in larger networks
Factorio train signals were a nightmare to understand.
For small starting networks, anything can work
They are pretty straightforward tbh
That's why I didn't put chain/path signals inside intersectiosn until I started to really understand. Kept it working, even if not quite as efficient.

i'm not going to go on at length about signalling, but when you are first cutting your teeth on the games rails & signals, enforcing exclusive access to train junctions and stations by using block signals at the stations & junctions is sufficient
Block is a thing between two signals
In Factorio, it counts crossing intersections/track as part of the block of the forward track as well, so it has to be diferentiated.
Afaik in Factorio, you also had to take the length of the train into account for reservations, right?

And if you put a block before an intersection, and the next block after the intersection is occupied, a train can go into the intersection and block other trains.

So hotswapping pipes to mk2s really fast jumble liquids for anyone else?
Sounds like expected behavior, as it tries to fill half-empty pipes, might send the flow backwards for a sec.
nah i have water in piplines 280m above ground connected only between an extractor and a refinery.
Fluids in this game are sorta... weird and dumb.

not water. Oil the water came from some higher power and only in certain lengths along the pipe.
Same thing happened to oil and fuel lines... Seems to happen when i hotswap a whole bunch of pipes right next to eachother.

What do you need help with?
First attempt using only words. For each of the 4 lines leading into that 2-way section, you need a path signal before the 2-way, and a block leading away from the 2 way. 8 total signals, one of each on each of the 4 tracks.
You also want a path signal just before the loop gets back to itself on each of those lines, and a block signal after the separation of the loop leading to the station. so 8 total more signals.

Inside of each loop, you can put a block after the station, and 1 before, and any others that might fit beyond that.

time of transport is not really an issue
due to volume
You need 1 locomotive for 4 freight cars. Solid cargo, fluid or weight doesn't matter. 1:4 is the ratio.
Anything more than that, it will struggle.
So you need 2 locomotives/trains for your 8 freight cars.

You can space just blocks inside each loop, starting with before and after station.

But as said, no signals at all allowed inside the 2-way stretch.
I think if you start to undestand why what I put works, it will start to make sense for further expansions. But at some point, you really do want double track.
That single 2-way is always going to be your bottleneck, all trains have to wait for that to clear.
Bi-directional tracks are a catastrophe waiting to happen, imo.
Just remember:
Number of block/path signals > Number of trains
Length of block > Length of train

Well you don't NEED them for anything, so techincally yes there are "enough". I think there's just over 100 of them in all.

Had nothing but trouble trying to connect to peeps on epic, so at the very least cross-play is bad

I've played 500 hours with steam multiplayer, flawless. 20 hours with steam<>epic crossplay post-1.0, nothing but issues. Took hours to even get the game working properly the first time.
You're assuming 1 train per route (2 total trains). The 2-way sections are an issue inside each loop otherwise. And thinking about it, if there are 2 (or more) trains are on each route, using only the loop ones ensure no blockages, so you are right, I used too many.

they work fine in something like Transport Fever 2. But yeah I gave up on trying to make them work in satisfactory

nuclear pasta is pretty simple to automate in mass compared to other end game parts, you just need lots of power

i don't want to do spoilers. but run around and press the coal scanner until you find a clump of them. they will probably be close to water. that arrow is a hint
it has broad stretches of space and all the early materials you'll ever need. And introduces you to critical aspect of hte game. Like making hubs.

Hello, currently having an issue with one train not loading 1 of 3 items. It will load up the plastic and rubber but some reason wont load the packaged fuel ,Works manually. I hope someone has a fix that does not require redoing all my train stations. Thank you

Yes, it was unintended "feature".
And in 1.1 they broke inside BPs when that BP was deployed.
And the "fix" seems to be to prevent building them.
The ends clip into each other little bit at the minimum squashed size.

Fuel generators fed with fuel are functionally identical to packaging and sinking fuel.
It's not that weird. To each their own though, there are multiple solutions to the issue

A lift can snap to a floor hole with any length of lift. So you line up two floor hole and get any height lift.
Foundation -> huge wall -> foundation. Identical floor hole locations. Snap lift.

I've been looking at moving my save to a dedicated server but wondered is factory resource generation/build linked to the fact a user is logged in the game and everything generates or if the world is "live" as in loaded to a dedicated server but no one logged on will it just endlessly generate resources even when we are not logged in? (Dont want that as it effectively feels like cheesing the game)

I believe it's a setting where you can idle the server if no one is logged in or not.

I loaded my last save this morning and find a lot of stuff backing up in a factory. I find this rubber belt had just stopped working. Belt graphically moving (as always) but the rubber was just sitting there not moving. Deleting the belt and replacing it fixed it but... I've had a few minor oddities happen before but always chalked them up to "Oops I forgot that tiny connector belt" or whatever. Now I'm not so sure.

it is pretty infrequent, but sometimes belts and pipes just fail to register a connection to another entity when you build them it happens more frequently with pipes, but i've seen it with belts and lifts as well. more often than not, however, what actually has happened is the belt connection looped around a splitter to a different port; that isn't the same more rare occurence though
What's the best way to figure out how many plutonium fuel rods I need to make to process a certain amount of uranium waste?

Well I was looking at 25 NPPs, 5 Uranium Fuel rods per minute, so 250 waste/min.
assuming your 250 is 100% accurate, you can make 4.444 Plutonium Fuel rods a minute
Heh yeah I get a lot of that while building π But this had been running fine all day. So something happened either in the saving or loading of the file this morning :/

in my opinion, until you hit bauxite, other than oil, you are correct and dont REALLY need to span biomes, however in phase 4, that changes a lot

i have did both them thing and it says press F to load cargo into tractor but when i press F nothing happens

build 18 buildings and do 1:3
It needs to cycle once for the sloop to take effect, if you make more shards now they will be doubled.

Firstly, put it on a hotbar.
Second, you can hover to dismantle in bluebrint mode (press R) and then MMB to sample it.

But also, putting it on your hot bar, (Alt+scroll to change, there are 10 of them) and then when you are in the blueprint menu, hover over the one you want and press the number of the slot you want it in. (I.e. 5 for slot 5), can save a ton of time as well.
