you cant build every stat on every item so you get those stats on different items that are able to get them
not entirely sure whats the best for you to get right now but whichever comes first on a good piece of gear
You have to take points in it to get to the increased poison damage node after it
For a melee build, you almost always want flat damage as one of your prefixes on your weapons
for rogue...your second could be crit multi or attack speed, a second flat damage roll...
increased damage maybe but I think it'd probably be the least valuable for rogue
rogue has a lot of sources of increased damage already via gear/passives/idols

it's very likely you don't need the increased crit on something like flurry
due to the high attack speed
you should stack crit vuln very fast
which reduces the amount of crit you need by quite a lot

but for affixes your weapons, 2x katana with flat phys and multi or attack speed is probably good

yeah, I was testing around, I found an idol with transform dmg and physical res% allowing me to skip a physical affix somewhere on my gear, not sure if thats worth tho

might be worth it to go for a physical res% one and then 2 1x3 with transplant cd

Argent veil works with apostacy you can dodge one hit by using it

since you can cap glancing blow without it using 2x swords on a melee build quite easily
and still get plenty of dodge otherwise

I tried to look up on the forums but couldn't find anything, is it expected that totems do not work with the minion attack button, such as on the training dummy? While I have not done single-target testing, it does seem as though they have an auto-target AI, possibly based on distance from totem
Yeah, totems (and other stuff like vines from spriggan) do not target the dummy, as it's not a hostile enemy
totems in particular I don't think specifically target enemies, as much as they cast their abilities when a hostile unit is within range

What's snapshotting?
snapshotting means that an effect will remember your stats when it's cast/activated and won't dynamically update as your stats change
it takes a "snapshot" of your stats
I believe that EHG is intending to fix/remove most forms of snapshotting in the future, though.

If its 100% increased DoT damage, then no there isn't a difference.

The currently implemented endgame systems are:
The arena- endless waves, more difficult per waves, has a leaderboard that tracks the highest waves for sc/hc/ssf
Monolith- In each timeline, you start at the center of a web of nodes, venturing out and choosing which nodes you want to run based on their modifiers and rewards. Each node you complete builds up "stability", at certain stability thresholds you can do "quest echoes" which culminate in the timeline specific boss. Each in each timeline has specific boss-only unique item drops and you get a choice between three blessings from a pool of many. Blessings are passive buffs to stats or your chances to get certain types of drops. Beating the boss unlocks the next, higher level, timelines from levels 55 to 90. After beating the three level 90 timelines, you can do all timelines at zone level 100. The level 100 versions have additional exclusive drops and higher powered blessings. You can also find the "shade of orobyss" in timelines, which will reset your current web (but keep your stability) to give you corruption. Corruption increases the magnitude of modifiers on nodes, increases enemy damage and hp, but also increases your loot and xp rewards and the rate that you gain stability. In normal monoliths, corruption is capped at 50. In empowered level 100 monoliths, it starts at 100 and has no cap, so you can continually push up your corruption to improve rewards and increase the challenge.
The game sometimes goes on sale, but definitely not often.
Regardless of it you on the site or steam, you can play through either.
There is a standalone client if you don't want to use steam.

The only cross-character stuff at the moment is your stash and crafting items
so you can definitely find/make gear for a new character via an existing one
As far as time spent on a single character...if you care to push corruption or arena it can be a lot. I've put in a couple hundred hours this patch playing primarily one character and occasionally trying others.
any early access game is going to be a gamble. always. i've read too many stories of a developer just abandoning a game part way through development. that being said, this game does have a roadmap and there are regular updates. just realize that its going to be a roll of the dice any time you buy an early access game.
For your first play through, getting a character to level 100 will probably take...50-60 hours if you even get there

There's no like character power progression past 100 except getting better gear/blessings

but is more likely to show up the further you are from the center
and will give more corruption the further out you are too

I think mage is the best starting class but that's just my opinion.
i started with a range character and it helped me avoid alot more deaths as i learned how mobs fight
i'm on my 3rd character and 1st melee... i died alot more in the beginning just by being so close to mob
i didn't need to pay attention to how melee mobs fight in the past because i was at rage
I feel like Sentinel is pretty safe to start melee, as long as you stick to Vengeance.

Yeah, Rive early on can be risky. My very first char was Vengeance Sentinel into Erasing Strike, and early on felt very safe.
But getting more into VK, VK always feels like a melee glass cannon to me. 😄

thats super non-specific. like specific affixes? just nodes that have gear that can roll them. There are certain uniques that only drop from bosses, so have to farm the bosses for them

and yes you will cap them at end game, fairly easily
You would barely need to swap gear, since you can craft res on almost everything and a large part comes from passive skills as well. There is also elemental res to cover 3 of them, and poison res isn't that important, since most poison damage comes from ground effects.
Physical is always useful against hitters though.

Yeah, and you don't even need high tier. You will upgrade your items constantly and you can focus on one or two at a time. Like in the beginning you need void, then as you get to Welryn, necrotic guys come out
but most starter passive skills give good chunks of res anyways

minor fracture stops crafting, higher decreases mod tiers too
you can mitigate it with glyphs (guardian reduces break chance, stability adds less with the craft)

Hi, how would I calculate EHP DR for Crit avoidance? Trying to get a sense (via Tunk EHP calc), how much effective HP I have, and crit avoidance is something I have a hard time figuring out.

last night i was playing a HC character and got to around 45 - i teleported to an old location to finish a quest and on teleporting my character instantly died 600hp gone
death re-cap said it was a physical hit from a monster with 0 monsters around, is this a known bug?

Great. Paladin is in a really good spot at the moment. Probably the best sentinel mastery overall. It can get 100% block pretty easily, tons of block effect, and can be built in a variety of ways.
what builds would you recommend? i keep seeing shield throw but that's not really the playstyle im looking for
Shield Throw and Hammers with Smite are both quite good. Bleed Warpath, Crit Warpath, Cast on Hit Warpath, self-cast Smite, Rive and Vengeance could both be melee options.

I have steam cloud linked to the game but all my chars have disappeared along with the loot in the chest, as their been a wipe also I have looked on the support site but nothing helped
Probably an issue with steam cloud corrupting your saves or something. I'd try moving your save files out of the folder and see if steam will repopulate it for you

Yes, all affixes on all gear apply to your character itself, rather than modifying only that piece of gear
So regardless of where you have elemental damage or some other stat it’s the same thing

its not a boss drop, its just a random level 23 drop
people farm that area because its only level 24 so it removes all the higher ilvl items from the pool
so just pure RNG.. ok
honestly i prob wouldnt even bother with it. just run monos and go for all the unique nodes

any suggestions as to what some good/expected defenses should be for a spellblade (fire aura build, specifically) around level 45ish?
this is my first character, and i'm sure my armor is low (but maybe that's expected since i'm a mage?)
here's what i've got currently:
phys res is the only immediate stand out to me
I would try and get more of that asap
as you get higher in levels (into the 60s and low 70s) you'll start to get access to base types with a lot of resists
specifically stuff like Solarum Greaves and Bone Amulet
otherwise, as you get into monoliths and beyond you'll want to get capped crit avoidance
if you focus on ward, ward retention (mostly via intelligence)
if you go less ward-focused, capped endurance
though later on you might be able to cap endurance without much item investment either way

So I'm crashing about once an hour on Last Epoch. Driving me nuts because its pretty unplayable with so frequent crashes. I've tested all different settings all the way down to thr lowest and still no fix. I have a 2070 super and beefy specs on my pc and don't crash in any other game even on ultra. Anyone else have this issues? Maybe know a fix? Id love to play the game more just literally can't =[

depending on how you crash, you might be able to look up the Event Viewer on windows (I am not sure what other equivalents are there for other OS.. I am on windows) to see what kind of information you can obtain and probably contact support or the LE forums

Yes, and around level 50-55 or so (right now) if you complete the story. You can start the current endgame activities at approximately level 25 to 30 right now (at the end of the 3rd chapter). Next patch I they're adding the 9th chapter to the game, so things may change then.

Only in the monolith and some other end game content.. I dont believe there is a death penalty in general;;; but if you die in the monolith, you generally lose out on the node reward

Now before I call it a bug: It seems like sacrifice, if you take the node where it propagates, can pick the same minion to propagate onto multiple times.
Which still only sacrifices it once and results in fewer total detonations.

Sacrifice has indeed been bugged this patch and the chaining node doesn't work properly
It seems to depend on how close you are to the minion you're sacrificing or something?
I had the most success aiming it at the center of the minions so it has more options to chain to.
How well did you do with the skill, by the way?
I had trouble finding any good passive and specialization tree nodes to use.
I ended up dropping it due to the mana cost
and went with skeleton mages casting their sacrifice instead
I was using marrow shards to use while I was waiting for my mana, and the zombie node that can fire additional shards.
They ended up doing better than sacrifice though, there aren't many sources of added damage to benefit from the 200%.
And those that exist are hard to combine. My best try was a grimoire, since the tree has some phys/necrotic hybrid nodes.
The sacrifice tree itself doesn't have many reliable damage nodes either.
But I'm curious to see if the warlock spec is gonna be better for it.

The values tend to change moreso with scaling on specific slots than being completely changed
though some systems changes have resulted in modifiers changing from prefix to suffix or being changed/removed entirely
though those are almost all defensive things

Hi guys, i’m wondering if anyone played glacier with single target lightning blast and elemental nova with lightning blast. I want to try the build but i’m not sure which one is better.
There was never an item like that. You can only start a new arena run from wave 1 with a normal arena key, or from wave 80 (?) with a golden one.
it can be good if we can have in the futur someting like a key that "store" the wave we stop at, all of the people don't have 3-4h ahead of them. but the item that store the wave should be hard to obtain like 15-25% drop rate on the last boss in level 100 monster (don't remember the name)

Hey y'all, do we have any information about what the dev plans are regarding visual / cosmetic impact of wielding different items / armors? Currently it seems to me that it doesn't really make any significant difference. I know cosmetics are planned for the full release, however I'm worried those will be MTX driven, which would suck for an upfront-payment game like LE.
(I know this topic has been discussed on reddit previously but can't pull up any good threads about it.)
Or do we have verification that cool looking cosmetics, particle effects etc will be obtainable ingame? I know this is not something that's top priority for development, but for a final product I feel like will be very important :) Thanks!
wandering spirits aren't really cast where you point. Instead they just "appear" around your character

it's relatively easy: you put secondary bindings of your regular skill bar to keys on Numpad, put the skill you want to autocast into your skillbar, hold the Num-key that corresponds to the skill you want to autocast, then disable Numpad.
-You have to renew the autocast when you click outside of the game window
-You can disable autocasting by enabling Numpad and pressing the corresponding key again
But don't get used to it, the devs said they don't want it.
Hi, im using shurikans and got a question about how the TAGS work so my shurikan got the LIGHTNING tag on it but i also have added FIRE dmg to throwing but the FIRE tag isnt on the list of tags on my shurikans so im wondering if it only can use 1 element or not?
the tags get added through nodes in the skill tree. For example Primalist has Avalanche, which is a channel skill so it usually has the channel tag. However the skill has a node that makes Avalanche into a casted skill which removes that channel tag

how do you guys start off builds that get their main attack skill very late, I mean 30 points into the mastery tree late
I'm not familiar with Shurikens itself, but some skills can have that.
Added damage where its melee/throwing damage/spell on weapons does not change your skills scaling tags. Very rarely you can do this in the passive tree. More frequently you can do this in the skill's specialization tree.
Added damage will still affect the skill itself.
For example, with Shurikens
You could have +5 added fire damage to throwing attacks and +5 added physical damage to throwing attacks.
The +5 added fire damage would be added to the damage you do with Shurikens (and would be scaled by general increases to throwing damage)
The +5 added physical damage would be added to the damage you do and would be scaled by Shurikens ad general increases to the throwing damage.
There's likely a few edge cases that I haven't covered here, but this is in general how most skills work in this game

Ignivar's Head says that disintegrate deals more damage based on your spells crit chance... does that mean rings such as copper rings would increase disintegrate damage? or is spell crit chance different than regular crit chance?
It means it deals up to 100% more damage if you have 100% spell crit chance
copper rings have increased crit chance, which is generic and as such applies to everything, including spells
Base crit is 5%, Ignivar's can give up to +4%
You'd probably need to find some other sources of flat crit or invest in a lot of increased crit to get to 100%

Crit avoidance is a multiplier to your chance of being crit, so being at or above 100% means you can't be crit.

guys, just asking: i found an armor with +3 to meteor and i equipped it trying to see how dps on that spell would have gone up or down using that skill points; i noticed that the skill tree now is kinda bugged and even when i log out some nodes that previously was maxed out now are missing 1 or more points and other nodes that i was testing now are permanently used .-.

the thing is that it removed like 4 points but gave me 5 in total
and those that got removed were random
and i can still put the items on to get the 3 extra points
Hello fellow travelers, I have a question. I wanted to craft Added Mana on my boots but they dont show up, then lastepochtools tells me it cannot be crafted on boots. What confused me is that I have a pair of boots in my inventory, which I crafted Mana on.
Has it been changed lately? Or was it a bug?
When you remove a piece that allocates extra skill points it attempts to remove points from nodes that are above the requirement to progress without removing points from exterior nodes
as an example, if you lose three points with this tree, it should remove these points first
so what should i do in order to have the skill tree?
it did remove 1 point from astral cataclysm,aftermath and 2 points on the left red node,crushing force

Depending on how you were spec'd when taking the piece off, it's possible, yes. You might need to manual respec some of the points because the game will avoid unallocating them when losing skill levels

I think it's the way it is currently is to avoid creating any illegal tree configurations while also attempting to maintain skill functionality in the event you unequip a piece to craft and forget about losing the points
I believe it scales with how far the point is into the tree, how many points are allocated in the node, how many points are in the tree total maybe? if it's a mastery tree or not

Anybody super knowledgeable would know about the various things that interact or not with Hail of Arrows? For example, the various bonus damage on the right side of the Shift tree says "non-channeling" and Hail of Arrows isn't tagged channeling but they don't appear to work, and some other things also don't. I tried going full ignite with the Scorched Earth node but I'm not sure if a lot of the things I'm using actually work properly with it...Like again in the shift tree, the bleed & bleed effectiveness nodes, are they interacting properly with Scorched Earth? What about the base rogue passive applying stacks of bleed every 3rd hit? Elemental Barrage doesn't seem to make a difference either? what about Venom-Tipped Arrow from Jade Arrows on the left of the Shift tree?

part of insane dps is dependant on the ability itself to. but also knowing how to balanced base damage, inc damage, and more damage

Forge Guard is not the class you want to play for insane damage
also forge strike has basically 0 more modifiers. you would have to stack to 100% crit and a lot of crit multi. then if you roll a crit avoidence mono node you are screwed

I'm building a Bleed Druid, and I just realized that this ring improve my damage a lot, even though I have nothing of void damage on my skills.
Doom has really high base damage, and will also be boosted by generic DoT increase if you have that

at those values, it's unlikely you get enough mana to be ever run out of life before mana for the sake of 1 shots
yeah, knowing the math helps to decide between 2 different fractured crows
very rarely are you going to be over about 300 mana in LE unless you take mana at the detriment of other stats
and basically every character can get over 2k life
i have 388 mana and 1.3k hp
sounds like you could get a lot more life on gear
So, quick check in the build planner- a sorcerer with full T5 mana + attunement everywhere possible on mana implicit bases gets ~1500 mana, if you have T7 mana rolls, about 2100. So if you go absolutely balls to the wall and use a ton of your prefix slots and use some mediocre bases for implicit mana, you're still just barely getting enough mana to "balance" with a decent hp pool if you have 50% damage to mana
That's with mana + % mana idols too
So yeah, basically, if you're wearing fractured crown, you cannot reasonably have enough mana to have too much

can you snapshot dot in LE? for example if i cast black hole which is converted into fire dmg and then i cast meteor with craterborn node (increased fire dmg for 4 seconds) does the black hole benefit the increased dmg or no? if it does not snapshot does this mean that i can cast meter with craterborn as a first spell and then the black hole will benefit of the increased dmg for its entire duration ?

all data is extracted from game resources, so there's no delays in updating with new data after patch is out. however if there are changes in game mechanics, internals and ui, then it might take couple days to update planner, this doesn't affect db that much though, so db update usually rolls out within an hour or two after patch is downloaded

It's "Increased" stun chance, with 100% Increased stun chance you only have 2x your base stun chance (which is slightly wrong in the first place, there's an entire formula for calculating stun).

hm question about elemental damage for certain spells..
As I understand it, Elemental damage encompasses Fire, Cold, Lighting elements. Does that mean that it would increase the damage of spells like Lightning Blast (which just has lightning, spell as tags).
Generally, what is the main difference between increased elemental damage vs increased lightning damage.

I think it's the same case with minion vs companion health. Lightning damage is more specific and elemental damage is generic

last question, are increase spell damage, elemental damage and lightning damage calculated at the same place? or are there certain affixes calculated at different places?

Does endurance only start working once you are under the threshold or it works for big hits too?
Like you have 100 endurance threshold with 20% reduction and you're at 200 hp and then you get hit for 200 do you get oneshot or endurance saves you?

the GD expansions sure do add a good amount of content due to the added classes and story arcs. However gameplay wise I'd say Last Epoch is a more satisfying game due to the different ways you can build your skills even if you only run 5 of them in the end. Meanwhile Grim Dawn has its regular skill progression that you have to go for if you want to play a specific skill with little room for customisation except for the passives and effects of items you still have to farm for to get a desired effect. In Last Epoch you currently get more skill points for your skills or some minor modifiers on items but that's it since the skill's individual skill tree already gives enough options (let's ignore that some specific skill nodes are usually necessary to take a skill to endgame)
Endurance works for all damage below the threshold, so if damage would bring you below that threshold, then any remaining damage to be done will be reduced by your endurance. I believe there is a section in the game guide about this? But maybe not.

Is there any reason to ever use a rune of cleansing? Removing everything from an item seems like it defeats the purpose of crafting it in the first place
You might find a particularly well rolled base you want to craft things on in a situation where you don’t need particularly high total tiers on the item
Like you might do on say... gloves so you can get T3 hybrid health, armor shred, and some attack speed on the endurance base with exactly 15% endurance or something

You’d only want to do it on a slot where you care a lot about the implicit but necessarily the total tiers of the explicit mods
It depends on the slot
Like you might not need much stats on your gloves, relic, amulet, a ring
But you might want a high resist implicit roll or something
And you’re fine only getting to like t8 or t9 total
Belt is another good example
Where you might only care about getting T3 hybrid hp and t5 % hp
And you can upgrade implicits later
Specifically for early endgame especially in the low 70s when you’re unlocking most of the endgame bases

Hello, I bought last epoch yesterday, and I am looking for some good HC barbarian builds (the bearded guy).
I tried a few random ones but they are no where near as durable as my sentinel build build.
Also how does one build shield in this game ? I think it's calles ward or something
for Primalist, go for aspect of the boar on the Beast master tree. That will give you a ton of Dmg Reduction (DR). You can also take the less damage on low life nodes for 30% DR when you get to low life (35% hp).
if you add in %endurance you will be super tanky
For ward, the idea is you generate ward faster than it decays. You can reduce the decay rate with ward retention grant in skill trees and from the int stat. There are a few ways to generate ward but is most restricted to Mage and Acolyte.

warcry can give you 1 sec of dmg immunity, if thats what you are looking for

Oh so elemental damage is way more stable in last epoch.
every damage type has a corresponding resist but yeah, if you are at 70% res in a 75+ zone you are taking 5% more dmg

I really like POE, but love sticking with 1 character, and to be forced to constantly reroll, which pretty much kills the whole point for me
nothing is set in stone but each cycle will have a reset. That being said you will always have your offline characters. I dont know if there will be a standard league equivalent or if you will be given the option to move your online characters offline, but it will likely be atleast one of those options.
as of right now every character is offline and they will stay there forever (unless you delete the file)
we dont know exactly what a cycle will look like other than new content/ new features/ new classes.

the only thing to consider would be 0.9 will introduce multiplayer and that will be a soft reset. 1.0 will also be a reset so everyone starts on an even footing
0.9 is likely 3-6 months away, but remember you will always be able to keep your offline characters

I'm kind of wondering how multiplayer will deal with the opened instances of the players. From what I could gather they wanted to make the regular map instances be solo/party dependent with towns being player hubs where you can possibly recruit people (so kind of like PoE) but will players just go into instances together when the party leader enters one or do they have to follow themselves (which works better with people still wanting to check out stores/gamblers and/or forge their items)? Is the "have to follow" approach viable for monoliths considering there's currently one entry point and party members would have to follow into the same Echo afterwards. And how are Echo rewards distributed? Monoliths might need a rework when multiplayer drops (they might need one anyway due to the story filling in and 55 no longer being after story) and if it's just spawning a portal to the Echo the party leader is currently doing.
Yeah I’m curious how a lot of mechanics will work with MP. When you portal and return it’s not like most other games that leave the instance open it resets everything.
Gonna be interesting to see how they handle it.
I cant address all of your points, but rewards specifically will be instanced per player. You will not see what others drop and they wont see what you drop. I think if you are playing together you can trade the item.

They did mention that instances will be handled differently for MP. And even if they don't stay open, you could leave 1 player in it while 3 use the portal to keep it open.
Hi there. I'm a vet PoE player (2013). And yes, I'm one of the 1% with mirrored tier gear, alt art and and 1000's of exalts. I loved the fast gameplay of PoE 3.13. For the people that played that patch know what I mean. I haven't bought LE yet, but thinking about it since I don't like where PoE is going with it's slow pace game-play. I don't mind hard, but I want fast movement. Can someone tell me how the game-pace feels compared to PoE? Is there a roadmap of the game? Thanks for the reply(ies) in advance.
