they have issues with getting bursted down by ranged mobs in echoes
and are very awkward to revive

There's no reason not to. It's a minimum of a 100% damage boost on crit.
The "biggest" reason to not run crit (Singularity) is outclassed by having 20% crit chance.
It sucks because 20% crit chance is really easy to get.
dancing strikes attacks are different in dmg value, why is that? like first attack is 100%, second is like 25%, third is 100% and 4th is 60% and i cant find the reason why

can someone explain what a "failed slam" is? So far I know it has smth to do with Eternity Cache, a Unique with up to 4 LP, and an item w/ 4 affixes.

With a unique with less than 4lp, the affixes being transferred are randomly selected from the 4 affix item, and you MUST use an exalted with 4 affixes. (Transfers exact value)

yea yea i know they change stuff, but the direction what i wanna do, loot filter and even if they nerf hard the skills for bladedancer, i have the direction and dont need days in of cycle 2 ^^
after i did bow 100% crit, i wanna try now bladedancer 100% crit + focused on shadow daggers with (atm not sure if i still wanna do thos skills) dancing strike, smoke bomb, shadow cascade for mass groups and flurry to regenerate health and mana
my test so far works ok, on leveling i would see atm similar to bow, but slowly i recognize i have an higher dmg output
Very interesting, i honestly haven't yet looked at what i might play. perhaps paladin, but i don't know what will happen to the ward defensive layer. It'll likely see a nerf, but how much is a big question

It's likely that HH ward sees a drastic nerf because most of it is being produced by a confirmed bug right now.

you dont need to use bugged build, there are plenty of non-bug build that can reach 2k+
I understand that. Unintended interactions aren't all bugs though, and a lot of high scaling builds are still unintended interactions despite not being explicitly bugged.
no one will break your game faster than the general public. things that shouldnt work together do or things that you wouldnt expect to put together, and they dont get caught until the public gets their hands on them. that has nothing to do with their data collection

I'm gonna be as straightforward and blatant as possible. The literal phrasing of Mike himself is that if you hit 4 digit corruption, they overlooked something they did not intend to exist, hard. Plain and simple. Cut and dry. So while it may seem "no fuzzy" or legit, it ain't.

Its funny because if they just blanket nerf for 4 digits, theres gonna have to be a novel sized patch notes, because I can count on my fingers and my toes of builds that aren't falconer, warlock, runemaster, using ward, using healing hands, using Wraithlord or the usual fanfare. And I am sure I am missing a few. So all I have to say is bring it on. Maybe actually cap corruption for once instead of constantly having to war against the playerbase
the amount of changes to fix that would require them to make more changes to the game then they have in the entire history, like imagine the history of lich nerfs but multiply that by 7 for each class. That is an insane undertaking I would never wish upon the worst of people

Big difference with POE and LE is that POE has allot more skills available making it less of an issue when it comes to nerfs. Both games are great, but there is no denying the size of POE skill options and scaling compared to LE.

My take is that they never should have left infinite scaling in for longer than like, a patch. It's a joke of an idea and there's a reason why every other successful game in the genre has an "endpoint".

5k ward isn't to hard to get. Especially for casuals. But if you have super high ward you often don't have other defenses.
5-10k is healthy, more than that and it starts getting to become problematic
because 5k ward is inherintly worse than 5k HP because 5k HP can leech back significantly quicker, at least for most builds
so 10k ward is not a problem at all
Lets say a casual normal limit is 5K-10K normal gear / but slightly specced into it
And a more min-max amount being 40K~ Sure its very high and yes that's pretty intense.. but the sheer time and gear building it requires should atleast be rewarded

The biggest ward offenders right now are due to a small selection of things; the LL nodes for Primalist and BD, the obscene generation that is RM's existence, and the stupid as all hell visual overflow builds.

20k ward alone is enough to almost entirely ignore the vast majority of the game, going higher than that should have been legitimately impossible no matter what imho

depends on what you think is 'good enough' I guess. I looked at my older Forge Guard which has 19k EHP against physical and 11k against elemental, it is good enough to do 1k corruption. So 20k EHP against anything is more than enough to do 1k

i'm suspicious that you missed something cos my BM can get 1 tapped through full DR by orobyss void abilities at ~36k non-phys hit EHP at ~1.1k corr
And this is why health builds have endurance, it’s another 60% dr

Follow-up: Does "Of Ice and Snow" work for all storm bolts? The description looks very similar to "Rending Vortex". Both just say "Gathering storm"
that's multiplicative with other modifiers.. usually if you have like "increased physical damage%" on passives or items, they just add up
so that node is always 80% multiplier on your damage

Because it can hit 2-3k corruption by itself.

Why is it that block effectiveness is not a good stat to have on your items? I see some rolls that give a huge amount of it and I am wondering, how that is not desirable? Is it simply the case that there are better defensive options?

TLDR:Diminishing returns.
Eg: Going from 1k to 1.5k is 8% more block mitigation.
however the higher your mitigation the higher each other point of mitigation becomes
going from 0 to 50 halves the damage you take and to half this damage again you would only need another 25
but i think the main problem is that block as a mechanic does nothing for damage over time which tends the be the way higher danger

By not picking up anything you dont need and just dumping then and just pick gold off the ground instead
100 gold on the floor is worth almost your whole inventory of items that aren’t uniques
there is no "green arrow up" function for item display that would just automatically make upgrades noticable
you can go with a very simplistic filter for starters for example if you want int on your body armor you can go with that, recolor all body armor with int on it etc
you'll figure out what you want to look for as you progress and adjust your filter accordingly as you get more used to it

Hiya, I don't play LE but I've had it on the wishlist and noticed it was on discount for the Summer Sale; just wanted to ask two questions about it:
- How is controller support at the moment? Store page mentions partial support right now, but I want to be sure that there isn't any weird bugs with controllers for right now that might really affect gameplay a ton. Also, does it support PS5 controllers?
- Is there anything about adding the option for using WASD for movement on KB+M at some point? If it's already there, how is it right now?

yes i know a lot of people in the ARPG scene really love the whole "click here to make your character move there" way of moving around; I just really prefer other methods where possible
Wasd is something they want to do but it's a bigger task than you might first think so it's unlikely to come soon. The game does have full controller support but some say some aspects of it aren't the best but they're constantly improving it. PS5 controller should work fine

All kinds of DoT are dangerous, still. The void pools in Julra fight for example will shred your health real quick, so you're advised to never stop moving while that's spawning.

for the most part poison stacks aren't a common thing and don't get applied in significant amounts. having cleanse on potion use on your belt (preferably a t1 seal) is very nice in general but not specifically for poison.
most of the poison damage you take is from DoT AoE's which you can mitigate by not being in them
so at late game in general poison res is considered the least relevant resistance, with many people simply not capping it at all, only getting like 50% or so
in general you only build armor and dodge as a result of your classes existing scalings catering to building dex or str
or you have a bunch of strong steroids for them like druid swarmblade builds gaining dodge through serpent strike and maelstroms
think it's only for the builds posted, but at the right side, scrolling down a bit will have a list of uniques

You can play now to get the hang of the game and start a new character when the cycle comes out if you want to play cycle. Or if you just start in legacy you can keep playing the same character after the patch comes out, all the content except for the pinnacle boss will release at the exact same time for both cycle and legacy, the pinnacle boss will release 1 day after it gets beaten in cycle or if no one beats it for a week it'll come out automatically. It'll most likely get beaten day 1 or 2 though

I can bet when I played the game at launch it used dx12, reinstalled the game now to play a bit before s2 start and it uses dx11. Why this happened? Also the display selecting from 0 to 1 has no effect, game stays on the same display.

tried vert sync both on and off (its not screen tearing but literal scan lines that travel down my screen

This is just for the DPS calc. Notice it's base duration, not total duration. It might be important to note that DPS is not the popup numbers (I think those are every 0.5s), and popup numbers are slower than the actual damage tick rate as well, which is even faster.

Reign of winter ice bow build is fun and one of the easiest to build to id say. Bows in general are good starter for campaign clear.
Druid, swarmblade has been fun for me this cycle.

in arpgs its more about how difficult is smth to gear for to make it work rather than a personal skill improvement curve

To enjoy it casually, you can hit end game as long as you can read.
To do well, you'll need standard ARPG exprience.
If POE is difficulty 10 and D4 is difficulty 1, LE is about 4.
It's largely the same for all ARPGs - whatever skill there is, is in crafting your build, setting up your loot filters, making strategic decisions etc. It's not in the same plane as skill expression in a MOBA or FPS game. Or even most modern MMOs where piloting your character involves actual interaction and decision making.
Very crazy to chat with a group of master gamers who play poe or grim dawn or diablo for thousands of hours by this game though

Cycles are seasons. With each new major update, 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 etc - a new Cycle starts. Your old Cycle characters will be moved to Legacy and you will make new Characters for the new Cycle.
You can still play your old Cycle characters this way but you cannot move any Legacy characters to Cycle.

probably not
Often the more powerful passives are to the right in the masteries. So you may want to head for those, then go back later and fill in some others.
You're going to have 113 total passive points at character level 100, if you get the 15/15 passive unlocks from the campaign.
You must have at least 20 points in your base class to be able to put points into any of the masteries, including your chosen mastery. The unchosen masteries you can only put points up to the halfway point, marked by the chain.
Thankfully, it's pretty easy to respect passive points if you want to change them. Just talk to the brain icon NPC in towns and you can refund passive points using the regular gold. The only downside is you have to click each time, but you can spam left click + enter to speed it up.

What if I'm planning to do offline stuff
Your current Cycle characters will be moved to Legacy. You can continue to play them there without a reset.
If you want to make a new Cycle character, yes, it's all new.
If you're playing offline, you'd probably want to install the game and set it to the "full offline" mode in the Steam settings before the 1.1 update.
When 1.0 launched and there were some server issues, people that had set it into offline mode could still play.
Might as well set it to offline first if that's how you're going to be playing offline anyway.

Another thing is PoE has had Atlas of some sort out for almost 8 years, and it's been released for over 10 - LE will get there, but it may take time.

Question with the merchant guild trading, how is the economy regarding prices? cause I'm now on choosing between the guild and Circle. I'm just planning to casually play but I've seen the comparisons that CoF is better for target farming but idk how much items go for in MG.

if you're planning to sink few hundreds of hrs into grinding one single character then COF is better
MG is much better for targeting anything, COF is only "better" if you either use a broken build to push extremely high corruption that was never intended by the developers, or if you want to just be swimming in random potentially useful bulls hit cause you are running multiple characters. It also remains to be seen what changes they end up making to both, as some had been announced (especially in regards to COF players benefiting more in terms of boss drops).
CoF is much more casual-friendly if you don't want to play the 'auction house simulation' game. I prefer playing the game and getting loot that I actually use rather than constantly trying to stay ahead in trading. Additionally, CoF is much more party-friendly, as there are simply more items to share with the friends you play with. However, if you have endless time and enjoy trading, it's much easier to target farm and min/max, but for me, that's less fun.
mg is better for geting betterr items quicker, cof is better for not having to interact with a marketplace, and worry about the gold value of items that drop
the only place cof could be considered better for getting gear is 2 months into a season when no ones playing, and you play the broken meta build that someone put together after working out how to abuse ward to make something way too strong.
at any other point mg will have more gear, because thats just how a marketplace works
cof is he pick if you dont want to engage with a marketplace, thats it, nothing else to consider basically
D3 is the game where you get the items the quickest... that was less fun for me. However, I accept that there are different views and playstyles, and we can have both with multiple characters, so we don't have to choose. It's great that they made that an option for the players; I think we can all agree on that. Improvements to both systems will come.

Higher level than what ? Level and rarity are different

Exalted just mean one of the Affix is T6 or 7
Rarities are as follows:
Normal - zero affixes
Magic - 1 to 2 affixes
Rare - 3 to 4 affixes
Exalted - at least one tier 6 or tier 7 affix
Things that don't quite fit into the rarity system:
Uniques - they're each manually created by the dev team
Set - also like uniques, except the more items of a set you have on the more bonuses they give
Legendary - these are created by the player by mashing together a unique with Legendary Potential and an exalted item at the Temporal Sanctum dungeon

Endurance helps against one shots.

Endurance is reactive.
So if you have 1k health, threshold is 200, you effectively have [800 + (200 x 1.6) ] eHP. (Assuming 60% endurance)
Endurance will increase your chance of survival so that your heals can get you back to max hp. It adds a lot of effective HP to your pool.

Yes, but it's reactive, even if you took the hit while above it.
It kicks in even in the same hit your health gets sent below the threshold.
If a hit would take you below the threshold, endurance will apply to any amount that crosses over.

There's an in game guide, G key. On the Endurance page it does mention
Endurance applies to any damage taken below your Endurance Threshold, even if the instance of damage applied while you were above it. For example, if you take a hit of 100 damage, but 50 of that damage was below your Endurance Threshold, the last 50 damage will have Endurance applied to it.

It's kinda iffy and almost always reflect your stats, even in skill nodes.

If you have characters in Cycle game mode, they are moved to Legacy game mode. You can keep playing your characters there.
If you want to make a new Cycle character, that character would be starting over fresh.

all new content will be available immediately to legacy characters, except for the new pinnacle boss who will be unlocked the day after someone beats it on the new cycle (maximum time of a week but it won't take that long)

They're giving everyone the choice. Same with the choice of online vs offline. Or the choice of MG vs CoF. It's a good thing to get the choice of how you want to play. I'll probably make a new Cycle CoF character again in 1.1.

You can change the skill specialization at any time. In the Skill screen, select one of your specialized skills at the top. Then in the upper right there's a button you can use to either remove some points or completely remove that specialization. Letting you then choose a new specialization for that slot.
You can again do this whenever you want and there's no currency cost, but the newly selected skill is reduced to a minimum skill level and gets bonus XP until it's starting to get close to being leveled up again. The minimum skill level increases as you level up, maxing at a min level 10 at character level 80. It's usually pretty quick to re-level skills.
I heard of a bug where flurry swipes was bugged to not doublecast with the Frenzy Totem node - is that still the case?

@wicked plover just cos i don't wanna do convos in ask the devs, farming low corr for 0lp uniques to egg is just a bad idea. Higher corr will simply net you more drops of that unique no matter what the item or your item faction
If it's a random drop unique then higher corr means more favour for prophecies in CoF and more valuable drops to sell for simply buying the item at any degree of lp in MG.
If it's a boss unique higher corr means more stability to kill the boss more often and higher drop rates of rare boss drops if lower corr means <600% increased rarity
it was a hypothetical question to sniff out some info about lp rates ^^ so far it seems that egg has a less negative impact than rune of ascendance, thats all
I would hazard a guess that it'd have higher rates than regular drops, but that still doesn't change the equation
It wouldn't really make sense as a mechanic to have lower rates than regular drops. To egg an item say, 100 times, you must have seen at least 100 of those items drop because of the chance of the item dropping with LP
And have gotten 100 seperate eggs, which i'm pretty sure you're not guaranteed to get each nemesis
statistically the chances for lp are naturally lower on average because you have a chance to have legendary affixes added directly to the item instead of added lp
Er... no? Yes you can have affixes added but that doesn't mean adding lp is inherently less likely than the item dropping with lp naturally
Also they've said when you egg an item you always either get affixes added or LP.
I'm pretty sure that it's not fixed on live, but perhaps it will be in 1.1, we don't have patch notes yet

has anyone had any luck with the omnis amulet? im sitting at 500+ corruption for four different timelines as well as doubling my chances with prophecies and still nothing 🙃
Prophecies don't matter, Omnis only drops from Shades of Orobyss. It's a rare drop and affected by both corruption and the distance of the shade from the center (farther = better rate)
(Prophecies can't drop boss items, even if their completion requirement is a specific boss kill)

I only tried prophecies just see if it'd work since it specified defeating that boss. i literally have every other unique from him but that. lol feels like a unrealistic goal at this point. as u progress in ur main quest its automatically unlocked, same on passives..with gray marker,.,,just check for the rewards when clicking on gray quest if its passive or idols..i usually ignored gold/exp rewards

So I only started playing today and I've made it to around level 27-ish so far; is it just me or does it seem like there isn't any level scaling on items? I keep seeing level requirements on some of what I find but the stats themselves don't seem to have changed very much across what I've found thus far, and it's kinda confusing me a bit
