if people wanna build synergistic support teams I think its pog and good, but what is really a head scratcher is when my 3 man team had almost no synergy other then rogue existing and our smite hammer guy was able to solo kill everything on 3 man scaling before we could catch up

Jav has better single target id bet, but hammers just let you never have to stop to cast for a lot of packs because the hammers stay on you. so you can cast like 20 hammers, and just lunge pack to pack and you will still have hammers that are casting stuff as you zip through the packs without having to stop
the hp scaling is just really weak
I think before empowered mono 3 man is 240% monster hp, its not even full 1:1 scaled
dunno if it ever even hits 1:1 I dont think it does
it should be 1:1 by default I think, and maybe like 1:1.25 to account for potential synergy etc.
What is end game like?
That's a broad question. Some people push corruption, some people like farming rare items, some people go to farm T4 dungeons, some people like pushing endless arena for leaderboards. For me I just play a build into okayish corruption until I get a unique(s) that causes neuron activation and makes me want to try and build around it.
is there anyway to change the controller button binds? the portal button is the same like the hide all loot button -.- very annoing

But if you're more than 5 lvls below the area you're in you'll only get xp as if the area were 5 lvls above you.
And if you're massively above the lvl of the zone you'll get #### all xp, but you'll breeze through it.

@native sail I'll reply here! I agree, that sounds like a good motivation. As long as progress stays I'm happy, compared to e.g. Tarkov where progression is reset each wipe, which I hate.
EHG seems to be making good decisions with how they're handling long term progression for everyone. Separation of offline and online, standard league and temp league (referred to as "cycles"), trying not to make HUGE things for cycles so as not to induce FOMO for those who can't make it, etc etc. I really like this team, they're smart.
They do a lot of that, that's for sure. That being said they also don't bend over backwards for player demands if it's something they explicitly do not like in any form. They make it clear that nothing is ever exactly a "this will never happen" as they always like having options but they are vocal when it's unlikely to happen.

Because your mana is currently Negative - you also can't cast spells that cost mana while negative.
Aye - it's one of the coolest Out of Mana mechanics I've gotten to interact with. So spells will always cost the same amount, but if you have 'some' mana but not enough, you'll go negative the amount you didn't have, and be locked out until you recover some.
Certain spells like Focus even have interactions with being at Negative Mana when cast.

That's really subjective - on some characters, I craft on white items that I found in the first town-like-zone, just to get some basics on my gear to speed things up; but those are usually my third, fourth, and beyond characters. On a first run-through, I tend to set up a filter for "pick this up and shatter it" and one for "pick this up and craft on it - and do so immediately on the first one, so I don't get confused.
Right now, there's not a ton of other options for the common/uncommon shards - they just pile up throughout playtime - so you get less and less careful with them as you go.
Items dont vendor for a lot, so the key would be to actually just not pick them up. Essentially they are designed in a way in which you simply dont pick up items not important to you. This can be hard as a new player not understanding what affixes you need. But as you become experienced with the game you basically will just leave items on the ground.
There is no reason for a loot all button because there is no value to doing so.

Shards auto pickup all nearby ones when you click on them, and that will be the majority of clicking in end game. gold is auto looted

I will pickup outside of my filters when first leveling a character to have a starter-like set of low level rares usable for several classes filling up a stash tab maybe two. Once I get to mono's I stop checking anything and rely only on filter sets.

Throwing attack damage, dodge rating etc, idk if it's even good for me.
neither are that amazing for you. sorcerer doesn't have any throwing attack skills, so the throwing attack damage on riverbend would only be scaling the axe it triggers. dodge is okay but as a sorcerer you don't really have any interactions or scaling for it, so you're probably not getting any.
health is nice, armour is nice resistance is nice, crit chance is probably nice. if you're very early in the game I'd probably just slap on the riverbends for the health until you get something better, but it probably won't take long to find better than either of these.

damage with sorcerer is fairly easy. spell damage, elemental/element-specific damage, cast speed, critical chance/multiplier if you're going crit, damage over time if you're going dot.
defences are more complicated, but you can't go wrong with life/armour/resistances for most of the game.

rarer doesn't necessarily mean better in this game, most builds end up using a mix of rare and unique items

It is a bit heavily geared, a few pieces on it are a little ridiculous, but overall it isn't the most broken thing ever or anything. But it definitely works.

I'm getting back into LE (as the upcoming multiplayer means I'll be able to play with my S.O.) and I saw that there is a rework planned for ailments. Could anyone point me to where I can get more info on the changes? Do I have to wait for 0.9 to be live to get my question answered?
I can only tell you poison's rework because I don't know the others and there's no patch notes yet.
Poison is being reworked to only shred resistance for the first 30 stacks. It's effectively a nerf. It's still absolutely playable. Just isn't theoretically infinite damage scaling.

That's the main one, that & the change of "ailment effectiveness" to "penetration with ailment"
Which, of course, means that it's been nerfed into the ground & is now trash tier dps might as well remove from the gaem.

I ran aura-of-decay lich, and the skill has an option for poison resist shred = to your int, but it was hard to maintain more than 200 poison stack
Frostbite -> only first 30 stacks make it more likely to freeze. 200 freeze rate -> 20% increased chance to freeze(up to 30 stacks)(I assume this is applied last.)
Poison same as frostbite, only shreds for first 30 -> higher base damage, dont remember the % offhand, but it is really obvious during leveling when you cant hit 30 stacks.
Ignite -> 2.5 seconds for total damage instead of 3.
Effectiveness -> Pen with said ailment instead.
Shock -> 10 stacks instead of 20.
Absolutely. Nobody touch poison builds. It is horrible.

since the bladestorm 3 hits per second is a buff for setups that only had 1

tbh the SD change only hits the mourningfrost stuff. Otherwise it's a hit build that gets an enormous amount of low cost penetration that basically nothing else gets.

Noobish Monolith question. Each monolith initially has an increasing level as you travel through them to the end. Once you get empowered monoliths, when you choose Legendary Area Level 100 for example, are all areas now equal in difficulty if they are all 100? For example is a area like Black Sun empowered at level 100 now equal in difficulty to ones near the end which initially were harder?

Characters from the last MP test are on a different closed realm. Characters from this MP test will also be on a different realm. Only 0.9 and later will keep your MP characters. Your offline characters are unaffected by anything, they exist forever.

I bought LE on Steam. Just noticed there are supporter packs out there. But holy hell, those are expensive no? I hope they chill with the mtx prices later. I mean its still a paid game after all.

Supporter packs are made to 1) support the devs further 2) get currency FOR the MTX and 3) give you extra goodies on top.

Just curious, what are usually the 'uses' of your 5 skills
For example a build with 5 abilities could use them like:
1 - wave/group clear
2 - boss killing / single target
3 - mobility
4 - defensive skill
5 - idk
Rogue for example might often have a builder, a spender, perhaps 2 builders within a bigger combo, maybe it would have decoys for CC/survivability
I usually go damage, buff, mobility, defense, defense/utility
it really varies. some builds/classes have skills that combo into each other (very literally for blade dancers for example), but most will always have one skill focused on moving around.
other than that your 4 are some amalgamation of damage and survival

I'm trying to think of a randomizer that gives you 5 abilities for a class, and gives you assignments for them too. Like it would choose one that you have to turn into your main damage / spender ability for example
It could be a fun way to give me random characters and force me to mix it up with some builds. But I was trying to think of other potential "assignments" or "roles" for abilities. But some can only be 1 role it feels like ofc
Like teleport for mage could probs generally only be mobility I'm guessing
some abilities just don't have mobility at all so you'd have to sort them a little
what I'd do is randomize character, then class, then roll 2-3 skills that you build around and see what you come up with.

Could leave some abilities blank too, not every one has to be given a role

True. Basically I'm trying to give myself restrictions (but not too many) so that it forces me to use abilities in new ways compared to the usual ways that I use them
And potentially come up with new builds or play styles that I otherwise might never have done
When I did it I rolled into paladin hammer throw by chance so that was a bit of a dud XD

Hi folks! Any thoughts on the best class/build for a first time playthrough. I've got about 8k hours played in Path of Exile and I tend to gravitate toward explodey archetypes.
the best class is the one that looks the coolest to you
click on them and see what masteries they have and some skills and if there's anything that tickles your fancy, try it!
i think void knight spin to win is strong and easy to play for 1st time . just take abit of grinding for specific unique items , literally spin to objectives and win so might be boring for some people , but imo its fkin strong . my 1st class was ignite minions necromancer and even i capped out alot of defensives stats , im still struggling at 100-120 corruption . meanwhile my void knight i can push to 300 corruption easily

no worries 😁 ! since u said u like spinning builds . Swarmblade build from primalist class ( druid mastery ) can be interesting for u - basically u summon bugs then convert them into tornado spinning around u . Shame on me i dont have times to research and invent builds for myself . So i look up people builds on lastepoch build guilds . incase u also want to see how ppl running the build . but i still suggest just play around and build what u like then check the builds later if u r struggling at late game 👍 .
Scaling the damage is pretty standard for rpgs. Not too different from PoE.

need a few unique items to make it feel good , otherwise quitehard to stay on swarm form all the times . making a druid 2 days ago then i found that build , luckily i have enough all unique items it needed to work . i dont think it will feel great for a 1st timer
my druid is like lvl 50 atm so i dont know how it will be at end game , maybe i will be getting rolled by mobs . but void knight for sure its strong cuz he have gigachad energy

I tested both Bastion + Warcry node with 100% increased knockback. Knockback is 2 metres by default. So 10 metres is offscreen i guess

Steam sends the email when they enable it. From my experience with other games it was a totally separate install and shown separately in the library.
What do you guys think about the replayability of LE compared to e.g grim dawn and poe? Rerunning the main quest and making new characters etc, is it as fun? I'm just level 40 but loving it so far. Wondering what you with hundreds of hours say about it 🙂
It's definitely much much less painful which is a huge deal to me personally. If you're on autopilot you get through it without much trouble or needing a solid game plan
and you can respec almost anything leading to less characters made overall. Win win
Its got slightly less replayability then poe for me, mostly because of a tighter skill selection choice. PoE basically cant be beat in that regard.
But in terms of enjoyment in repeating stuff? hands down better in LE then poe because the early game is the easiest part vs PoE where the early game is arguably the hardest part.

That helps so much, thank you. Was hoping that to be the case, the main reason I haven't really gotten into other stuff like poe in the past.
There are plans to eventually have no internet required even for authentication but they're not quite sure how to make it work yet.
Currently, you just have to connect for that initial authentication, then can turn steam offline when that's done.
They implement a periodic auth system where you have to only do that once every like 30 days. They are still figuring that out I believe, and I'm unsure if it will make it in 0.9

I don't know what there is to explain. It's necrotic damage and void damage
It's just a damage type. if you understand that much, it's no different than the others. void being the dark purple attacks you'll see from enemies or from void knights and necrotic being the light green/blue attacks you'll see
there is nothing special about any of damage types, they are just calculated against corresponding enemy resistances thats it
so aside from the norm of physical, fire, cold, lightning and poison. they added 2 types that nobody knows how to explain what it is, just that there are 7 types of damage/resistances. Sounds like they are lacking some knowledge of things on the site.

they are self explanatory necrotic is dealt by undead enemies and void damage is coming from void creatures that are plenty explained in the game lore

the Demo is steam only and is seperate and anything done on it will be wiped when over. what you currently have will update to 0.9 on march 9th

the demo is steam only. The beta that we are playing now is able to be played on steam or standalone.
I went to the website and purchased the gladiator pack, I was able to download the standalone and play it without having steam up.
Now if you want to play the demo of 0.9, you will have to use steam
you will end up having to redeem the game on steam (which you can do without buying it again) if you want to participate in 0.9 multiplayer period. as it handles the multiplayer through steam.

what sucks with trading is that crafting materials cannot be traded, only the items, white, magic, rare, unique, legendaries and sets

Nah, there's no tooltip for it or anything. It's just a feature to clear your screen really. Some people hit it on accident.
Hence why it got changed to alt+Z

Those are crafting materials. You slap em on an item to add that affix to it.

Nah. One shard = one tier
You can craft up to tier 5, tier 6 and 7 are drops only
Each craft takes a random amount of FP (I believe the range is listed in the bottom of the tab while looking at it)

A way to get shards outside of drops is to take an item you aren't going to use but with affixes you want and then put it into the crafting thing and either use a rune of shattering or a rune of removal. Other than that, all materials are dropped.

Paladin has a bunch of team buffs and a cracked aura

Decoy taunts enemies. Which means that the enemies won't attack your buddies so you don't need to tank as much
That's fair. I feel like that's a minor qol and not something you can rely on in terms of giving up tankiness on your build
You can also build it so that it inflicts a bunch of debuffs on enemies and gives haste to allies

Well until now the characters were mainly designed around solo play. Putting too much focus on party play will alienate the people who prefer to play solo
Also almost all the skills are flexible enough in their trees to swap around dmg types (bleeding into poison or any elemental combo or physical into fire etc) where builds can naturally compliment eachother dps wise
You would think rogue and mage wouldnt go well but heres comes BOWMAGE into fire shred sorcerer and you are a glasscannon grp of the ages

In game, I still have the old orange one which makes me think there is a problem. I verified my files with Steam but everything is ok. Is it linked to my old character ?

the updated icon is part of the multiplayer builds, you've probably seen videos with footage from the multiplayer test events, in your game version (0.8.5F) that's the proper icon

Hey all, random question. Swarmblade form ahs a node which increases damage per bleed consumed to empower locust swarm. It also has a node to base things off of minion damage. Would these things be multiplicative or additive? Reason I'm asking is because Manifest Armor has some funky interactions with this (stats being multiplicative with minion damage increase %) and I'm wondering if the same sorta thing would occur.
You can do it through settings on chat itself instead of game settings. Hit enter and click on cog top right of chat window

The bleed node applies increased damage, so it should be additive with your increased minion damage. Would have to be tested though, since the minion scaling node is quite unusual.
Aside from random specific things that scale from level, you get flat potion health, flat minion health (based on the skill), and "minion power" based on level (see character sheet)

No - that was public-facing for the last Multiplayer event, and can be removed at this point; it may make a return as a PTR in the future, but I'm sure there will be a fresh set of instructions at that point.

Has anyone noticed that the game is bug at the passive skill branch "Unbound Necromancy" when raising the specializations for "Summon Skeleton"?
It says my minions get 40% critical chance but when checking the stats panel, none of the stats are added.
Ah - it's "Minions get +40% Increased Critical Strike Chance" - and your minion-stats aren't displayed directly.
yes, it seems that some of the specializations of the "Summon Skeleton" skill don't add stats, but skills that increase the number of minions are still working.

Stats that are added to your minions are added they're just not displayed anywhere. The same thing happens when you add Minion Damage or Health from the skill-trees or passive-trees, and are one of the big pushes to improve the character sheets to show skill-specific numbers
if you have been in area for a long time
resummon stuff
if you level up, add some passives like crit chance
any skeletons that were alive already wont get it
minions currently "snapshot" when cast
so they didnt have that crit when you cast them, so they dont get it when you spec it
if you suspect its still bugged after resummoning everything file a bug report, but its very hard to prove something like "40% crit chance" is bugged
since its a very small benefit
So as you said, the character and minions stats information does not show the stats added from skill-trees or passive-trees, but only shows stats add from weapons or items, is that so?

Hey! Im level 38 currently and struggling a bit with low hp / mana atm.
What should I do? I don't really know if I should grind or what to do, or if I'm just bad. Would be nice with some input regarding my stats for my lvl
You want to look for defensive affixes first and formost imo. Health/resistances early on help a lot
You dont need to cap resistances, but they help. But you want as much health as you can get

You need to be wary of how you build skills, mana is a huge limiter in this game by design. You are intended to find solutions to your mana, or simply spec abilities around using less mana.
And if you do find you use focus alot, but dont exactly have a large pool, look into speccing the burst stuff in focus
you can easily use focus for 1 second every pack and with burst nodes it will heal like 60~ mana which should allow you to use your skills enough to clear packs
Unfortunately im not that versed in Sorc or its mana problems as I dont really play with static orb which has a high mana cost, so you might need more sorc based advise for solving that problem.

yeah see I just dont know how you sustain mana on a build like this personally lol. you will basically always be oom if your main clearing skill costs a whopping 38 mana cost per cast.
But im not really sure what this build is doing since you also seem to take a non single target focused Lightning blast.

Instead of spamming static orb I like to mix it with lightning blast
Get mana regen on gear
If you are specializing in focus you have some nodes to increase the amount of mana you regain
Flame ward has some mana regen nodes
Teleport can be used to give you a free cast
Static orb has nodes to regain part of its cost
And you also can make it so lightning blast doesn't consume mana with certain types of wand and in the skill tree
But yeah mostly try to spam it less

Hello, can anyone tell me if the 0.9 beta works on linux steam? or is it windows only? the steam client does not seem to want to install even after a full reboot+restart... maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Proton is not the issue, I seem to have the same issue as other linuxers... 0.85 runs great but no patching to 0.9 possible

I've been looking for an answer about this but can't find anything. Does increased melee damage affect bleed damage, or other damage over time effects? What about melee physical damage? I know increased physical damage does, but I'm wondering if melee causes it to not anymore.
Melee damage should not affect DoT effects

It's kind of odd to me to demo this section of the game honestly, I feel like it's probably the weakest section of the campaign
the zones have gotten some visual touchups obviously, but the gameplay and quest design is a bit dated now compared to the more recent stuff
does damage over time affects on cold dot ? or only elemental damage over times increase cold dot ?
Both. Ele over time is just a higher value.

You can't see other players outside of your party yet. They plan for hubs eventually they just haven't been able to do it yet
Is there an option to disable showing minions on the minimap? They're even drawn above player icons- we often lose track of eachother.

Not sure how I feel about that, I like having an idea of where my damage is coming from and/or lacking so I can try to build better xD
Like in particular atm I wanna have an idea of how much my bleeds are contributing vs just the hits of the bladestorm
They just don't want us to have a way to instantly look at it and go "this is the objective best way to do this" and remove decision making
Ah, I get the sentiment but there will always be a way for that to happen xD if I had to guess, whatever the first serious endgame boss is will likely be a benchmark for people
Bosses have adaptive damage reduction :P
Not having data though is a double edged sword imo, since not having a way to see what is failing leads to less possible decisions too

Well yeah :P I am hit based right now but also stacking a lot of bleed, that is why I wanted to see how much my bleeds were doignin comparison xD
But with how many dot nodes there are in passives it feels like you are intended to at least have them anyways even if they arent your main damage

Some hit-based builds (depending on skill) do take a lot of application for ailments because sometimes their skill has a thing to deal more damage per ailment on the enemy

YEah, I started as shurikens but I really like Umbral Blades
