I would guess that since warslash happens after the spin its not affected by the while spinny buffs
theres probably a node you could test with
get a mace with points in this -> do giants splitter
then unspec this and do it again
if you do more dmg with giants splitter with points in this then the spinny buffs do affect it

your damage will not scale if you don't
grabbing those 5 nodes means no crits on the first two hits, third hit has 5 + 8 base crit thats then doubled
i do get 20% crit chance from helm alone
peak of the mountain works great here cause it gives like 200% increased crit chance by itself
it basically makes rive third hit crit cap by itself
tho rive isnt gonna do that much dmg since its not doing fire dmg no?
while making the first two hits never crit so you can still leech as another defensive layer
more sustain options is never bad + ez crit cap without much investment = good
if your weapon has +50 melee firedmg on it rive will do both physical and fire damage
my weapon is kinda obligated to be a palarus
now granted your sword stacks up adaptive melee so rive will be physical dmg

added flat damage is the best way to boost your damage and can only go on weapons
assuming you aren't missing crits and increased dmg and more multipliers elsewhere
so slammin' like +40 melee physical damage and however much the spellblade affix for spell damage on a sword rolls to helps bring the sword's stats up to a good bases's level, then the scaling from stats makes it better
So with warpath/rebuke we just stop channeling/start again to keep it up 100%?

A good base will out-pace DT pretty early anyways.
DT starts off great, gets out paced but if you slam a fatty melee void dmg on it, it works great

its a solid idol but imo theres better ones you can get for that size
like later game a % increased armor idol will provide a lot more armor than a flat boost one

both are good for leveling
i dont tend to be using volatile reversal right now. I'm guessing it becoms much, much more important later when your taking huge 60-80% hits etc
and debuffing mobs
you can use it for hp or mana or remove both of that and use it entirely for the dmg buff
but yeah VR is basically a requirement for later game bosses
unless you got something spicey cooking in the kitchen
and even then you would want it until your like 1 tapping bosses
the hp balance is so much more important for my playstyle
very few attack combos are 3 hitters so when you reverse after a big hit youre basically invincible

loot filters should work automatically. if you're trying to figure out what loot filter rule is applying to a drop, open the loot filter with the item on the ground. the item should have a (xx) where xx is a number, and it points to the number on the loot filter applying to it

1.1.7.1 had a small adjustment to warpath whr enemies take dmg the moment they enter your spin zone. Somehow this adjustment made VK echoes do zero damage and the echoes hit is snapped to you instead. So your own warpath do double hit when echo appears
While you've probably seen very few hybrid health affixes at all at that point, and only some increased health, you should be swimming in flat health shards already if you collected and shattered them. You can put those on everything while looking out for any increased health pieces.
Every sentinel mastery can get some increased health from their passives so aim for it.

Yes mostly. As you can see here, the body armour and amulet slots always get more stats than others. Also, the non-craftable exalted tiers 6 and 7 are worth so much that T7 has twice the stats of T5, or significantly more for some affixes.

Those skills are void melee dmg, so boosts to void and/or melee would work. (it's possible to change void cleave to fire but don't do that unless you have good reason)
if you use a weapon that says something like "+X physical melee dmg" then that part will not be converted to void. Instead, it makes your skill do some dmg as physical. Phys dmg modifiers would apply to that dmg and the void modifiers would not.
shield bash is quite powerful, i managed to kill 1st harbinger at lvl 80 with mediocre gear

stacking str a lot gives it a good amount of % inc, and then I build up attunement which gives my spells % inc and gets me to a more reasonable flat for the melee
maybe not ideal, but it's been working well so far, not a lot of good affix options anyway

just tested - i did not get dot after it procs...
apathy's maw is normally better than dreamthorn because you can get two T7 melee void dmg affixes on it (it comes with one, slam a second one on)... plus its an axe so rive gets +1 melee void dmg per vitality with weapons master (a stat vk already wants like 90+ of), plus leech rate (leech over 1.5 seconds instead of 3 seconds), doom stuff and the fact you just kind of end up with a lot of apathy's maws for slamming due to it being a relatively common shade drop
World splitter is also very nice, less flat dmg but it also enables infinite erasing strike bonk
Dreamthorn is still good, but it really needs a fat T7 melee void dmg slam to keep up with a solid exalted weapon, early on its amazing cause its a lvl 15 unique with 40% pen
you can also do a pure physical dmg void knight with a leviathan carver, VK has a lot of options (not even touching on wizard vk)
or use World Splitter for warpath like me and 
that too
if engi didnt mention it, dont do it

For packs I like to stay away, you get more bounces on the mobs
For big chunky boi melee range so I can use VR and get the bounces on my shields

I keep dying to rahyeh+harbinger with erasing strike vk at 386c (mostly to the harbinger, rahyeh is only dangerous if he combos multiple abilities), is there some trick to it? some abilities 1 shot me (and almost all 2 shot), and sometimes using erasing strike just once is enough to eat a hit (cannot move away in time).

Torment lock feels like ez mode compared to my VK. Erasing / Void Cleave VK only seems good at top gear lvls. Before that it feels bad.
Perfectly fine to take an exalt. Falyers is a huge dps boost, but climbing corr usually your dmg should be less problem on this build, then sustain is.
I do have decent gear on the vk, can comfortably do 450-500c echoes, the problem comes with some bosses. I ended up lowering the corruption to 290 so I can kill the harbinger easily, not sure how bad that is considering boss loot/favor
I haven't played my torment lock for some time, but sure, when I started playing 1.1, I had little problems clearing all harbingers
the problems I have with the es vk on the rahyeh harbinger (and other bosses in general where I have problems) is that sometimes I start casting an erasing strike, one of the big aoes shows up an instant after that, and I cannot even leave the danger zone with void cleave (also, if they just chain aoes and the whole arena becomes a big death zone with overlapping sh!t and few safe spots)
Also the fact its a HP build and wwrlocks have ward which is an OP as heck survivability tool
My wsrlock was running around with 8-10k ward which regenned super fast.
And my goal with shield is to find block/block effectiveness, armor and HP right?
I stopped playing the warlock when I got 1 hit by covenant of dominion (easy 8-10k damage on the death screen, I noticed only later that it can 1 hit any of my characters), and tried and failed on aberroth a couple of times
I only have like 3.8k ward when standing still, and when running and casting it is around 7-8k, so I have worse gear than you, and the ward is not regenerated super fast, only during ideal circumstances, (= to get to the 7-8k, I need to cast several spells and not get heavily damaged in the meantime)
I got some pieces with extra necro res when playing other characters, so I might go back and check how the lock performs
so far, I found the static orb sorcerer the best in 1.1, but it has some problems and I hit a gearing plateau with it, so I just went and played other builds
the erasing strike vk is brilliant for echoes though, very relaxed to play
For the prefix it is quite set in stone, yes.
For the suffixes you have room for what you need. I personally would take "reduced dmg taken on block" over HP.
For the 4th and the sealed you are quite flexible, I loved to seal armor and take all-res as T5, but take what you need there.

I am trying to get a good ring, amulet, after which, probably better boots and shield.
I did my first Abberoth kills with the same build last season, but hard to say how far I was when I first approached him.
Your char looks nice, but there is room for easy improvement on almost any slot, more on the exalts imo.
Currently your weakest slots are probably the Idols.
Btw I don't see a single faction item, did you choose CoF or MG?
From the EHP side, I'd want to push that to at least 10, rather 12-14k (non-ele).
The dmg part of this build is tricky, but I guess you should be already at a point where Abby should not be the problem. I'd rather try to push defense now, while trying not to give up any (or too much) offense
I dont know much about Paladins, but is this item worth building a paladin around?
Ah I see something in your skills, for this build I would go for this one in smite. Smite is only a support skill in this build and does neglectable damage

Was rereading this and realized I didn't ask, but what improvements should I aim for with my idols? Less DPS and more defensive?
It is hard to get "perfect" idols, don't get me wrong. But you often have just one of your desired stats (I assume) and ofc having 2 usefull stats would help a bit.
F.e. one of your large Idols has (one of) the perfect combination of Bleed duration/phys dot dmg, but the other has "void rift on kill" prefix. Here lies a "free" ~25% Bleed duration.
Same goes for your Adorned ones, all have a nice suffix (tho here is several nice ones), but 2 have a useless prefix and the smite-on-hit is very low.
Here's some nice room for improvement imo. Also you can easily go for some more defensive suffix if you feel a dmg vs sustain trade would be worth at the moment

I like to know as well, afaik per STR increase dmg by 4% for skills scalling with str and is in the same bucket with all other % increase dmg (additive).
In this case, the t5 fire damage % will probably be way higher but str also grant 4% armor. So, if you want both defensive or offensive stat, you can go STR? better if u can double dip STR with other things like skill or for red ring š¤

basically if you dont get skill scaling or something like FG's dot defense based on attunement I'd avoid it entirely
if you need mana just get like one mana affix
tbh it would be nice if you got a boost to your base mana regen for every like 25 attunement (like +0.5 base mana regen per 25 attunement)
yea attunement by itself doesnt offer much. Some passive mana regen is pretty helpful considering you dont get much mana regen elsewhere and it is constantly competiting with other higher priority affixes when crafting
Same goes for every one imo, str and int just have passive effects that are close to being worthwhile on their own
strength, dex, int have ok effects by themselves imo
vitality has an amazing effect by itself (especially cause its a prefix)
is the echo knight node broken? i'm only level 14 and i've taken the node to create echos during warpath and i've been playing for 15min and not one single echo and yes i'm spinning constantly longer than 2 sec and travelling.
have you taken the void knight mastery yet
you need to be a void knight for that node to do anything benefit from anything with echos

Just upgrading your weapon will probably help a good bit, but also crafting some phys res on your gear where you can will help quite a bit (I'm assuming phase 2 is where you are having trouble)

If you're a VK, possibly the unique Dreamthorn works, otherwise just keep replacing the one you have with whatever you can find with more dps
