The patch CDN itself works fine, the root of the problem is in the client machine believing it can't reach the relevant certificate revocation server.

Much like how web browsers ignore that problem completely, so can the client.

Most annoying thing is that in order to be able to start upgrading again, affected peeps need to install a new enough client to bootstrap it.

Figured out a way to reliably test this, btw.

Install and launch "Windows Sandbox". Add bogus entries for the CRL servers to hosts inside. Copy in an EXE and try to patch.

The neat thing about the Sandbox is that it's a fresh and quite minimal installation of Windows every time you launch it, so there's no risk of accidentally caching success states.

Didn't know the feature existed until someone reported that PoB didn't work inside 😄

iirc you get to answer some questions like a personality test and then you get assigned to one of the houses. If you're not ok with what they suggest, you can change to a different one.
Each house has some different quests I think and ofc other design etc but from what I've read long ago, the differences aren't that great to play the game 4 times

I'm resigned to the conclusion that crafting in PoE2 will pretty much suck until we get the major league crafting mechanics. We might not see any of those until 1.0 when we start to actually have proper leagues, but who knows. I don't dislike crafting in PoE2, like foundationally I like the idea that we no longer have scours and scour-like stuff that devalue base items. But I just accept that the crafting system is extremely incomplete in its current state.

Essences now have 4 tiers: Lesser, Normal, Greater, and Perfect.

Instead of adding a modifier of a certain tag, Essences now add a specific modifier, depending on the Tier of Essence and type of item it is being applied to.

Lesser, Normal, and Greater Essences can upgrade a Magic item to Rare, adding a guaranteed modifier.

I think I'm using NS's filters in the most hamfisted and nerdy way. I clone the prebuilt github repo and hand-write in my current overrides at the top, keeping them as local changes in my working copy.

Nerdy, but cool. So basically a fork of NS' prebuilts where you maintain overrides across updates. Are you using a script or something to merge the overrides into the file?

Or I guess to "prepend" the overrides, so that you aren't actually committing diffs to the main filter file?

In the early PoE2 days I was writing my loot filters as Jinja templates. Just had a little {% include "NeverSink.filter" %} or something like that at the end.

Just relying on Git to do the right thing when upstream changes.

There's numbered section comments in the filter designed for overrides.

As filters natively support includes, you could also separate those changes out to a separate file.

Ah, just good old natural Git merging then. That has a tendency to end up in an unmanageable mess for more complicated projects haha. A single upstream change could imply countless downstream conflicts to resolve, but probably not so much the case with loot filter files.

• the upstream (in this case, the Java-based Minecraft server) has to be decompiled
• then identifiers need to be mapped to more useful names (the bytecode is obfuscated lol)

• the changes you end up versioning on Git are just actual .patch files lmao

For simpler things, utils around struct to make it a bit more ergonomic.
For my data mining projects I actually used numpy, both for the ability to author type definitions a bit richer than the struct DSL, and also to get actual sized numeric types and compact storage/reshaping.

Also useful when you want to plot things as the matplotlib bridging is nice and with PyCharm you get the images in-line in the IDE. Also did a decent job in JypyterLab.

All in all tho, it's not the greatest environment for that kind of thing; there's not too much in the ecosystem.

Given how easy it is to oxidise things these days, might be worth squinting at where Rust parsing is at with nom and friends.

Yeah, Rust might be worth checking out. My main hesitation is that Python allows me to quickly prototype something that works, but if Rust actually has a good ecosystem of tools/libraries for this sort of work, that sounds worth checking out. I didn't even know NumPy could be used to make your own types, but it makes sense.

Granted, the whole "prototyping with Python" advantage starts to go out the window when weighed against the poor ecosystem lol

Don't try poe2 blindly my advice with 1k hours in poe2. Poe2 punish zdps builds a lot more then other games. The bosses here are not easy on campaign for many new ppl and poe2 have a tone of bosses and u can't skip campaign.

Bosses in the campaign spent me lots of time to figure out how to win so my progress slower than another players who started the game in the same period so I never can afford good gears I want after I go to endgame finally. Plus Stormweavers is one of the most popular builds in 0.1, my case have been quite tough

I'm pushing for ubby now for the first time. That's how confident the build makes me.
But tbh I'm not a fan of it at all. Imo squirrels were really good at both clear and bossing and still..a few tweaks here and there and going for bear instead of squirrels made me so much more tanky while sacrificing life and single target dps is also absurd that it needs a nerf (and they even nerfed the earthquake bear node before release)

I've been practicing league starts with them for about a week now in SSF they feel pretty easy mode.

Pathing is also really efficient on that side of the tree and Shock Magnitude is kinda stupid

• Shock base duration buff and the reload/swap clunk is gone it's gonna be free IMO

Yeah, easy to skip over when you don't really equate magnitude with increased damage. But shock magnitude is just another damage modifier effectively.

There's just so much variability in this technology space right now. He's clearly leveraging a lot of different AI technologies: speech to text (dictation/transcription), text-to-speech (for Neuro's voice synthesis) and of course the core of it being the language model (chat model)

But he seems to have put together a mix of them in a way that is actually cool.

I know he's shown that all of it runs in the cloud, so he's paying a lot of money to run Neuro, like thousands of dollars per month

I happen to work at a cloud computing company that has a lot of GPUs and even some AI products... so I was hoping to create some kind of assistant to help with my day-to-day using basically company credits where I can to save cost lol

My approach to PoE2 league start is basically "pick the safest class/ascendency" and then focus on experimenting with alts after reaching endgame and accumulating resources on starter.

Because of how much of a slog the campaign is lol
