Yeah, I've never actually played an AC game, but it looks like mechwarrior on crack. It's been a long time since a mech game has really done it for me, but I love the whole 'fiddling with mech parts to make a build' thing. Plus, I'm a full on fromsoft stan at this point, so I'm stoked.

Its sort of like a tower defense game, except you're fighting this ever expanding liquid that you have to push back and eventually clear the map of.

Divinity original sin 2 has many difficulty options including a story mode which makes the game significantly easier.

Yeah, i'd second Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's not the best one storywise, but it's probably the easiest to get into, which makes it a good starting point.

The mechanics of it are just easier than most.

I enjoyed Pillars, but it's combat system is a bit... dense.

Wrath of the Righteous is on my to-play list, playing Kingmaker at the moment, which is another one where the combat system is a bit dense.

I suppose another one that's quite good in terms of being mechanically light is Dragon Age: Origins, but I'm not sure how easy that is to get hold of these days.

(Not Dragon age 2 or 3, though, they're frankly... bad.)

Divinity: Original Sin (1) is also very good but it's a bit harder than D:OS 2

Maybe Grim Dawn? There's plentiful of "beginner class builds" on YouTube which makes first act go smoothly. It has similar skill system to Titan's Quest (if you heard of it, early 00s game). I also enjoyed Diablo 3 for hours

Also Grim Dawn same as Diablo 3 or Last Epoch has multiplayer system to add steam friends to play with you. I'm just not sure if there is in-game chat (global one)

Wrath is phenomenal imo, it surpasses BG2. But yes the combat system can be complicated, so you just set it to Casual mode and you will be fine. But secret wise, and the amount of role playing in it is just so great.
An advice tho, Wrath has a crusade system aka Heroes 3 mode, jist use cheat to cruise through that part, it's the weakest part of the whole game

I actually never got the tranquil heart, if thats the passive health regen relic though, its a must have. 50% health ring being the ring that gives 2 health regen while below 50% yes, ring of crisis, and then the ring that gives 2 grey health regen, then 4th ring doesnt actually matter much, you can run more regen and leto's OR you can do what i do, which is run amber moonstone and actually DROP leto's and run fae royal set, which as someone has told me before, is the best armor to weight value. Then the neck i cant remember the name but its a grey health conversion amulet which turns grey health regen into 5x mod power. As for classes, after some testing, its alch/engi, which i believe theres a current bug in which you can run alch as primary, drink 4 concoctions, then swap to engi primary and they'll stay. We want engi primary because the class is a tank through and through, and engi's heavy guns do serious amounts of damage to counteract the damage loss of the build. All of engi's heavy guns are great and fit different situations. Vulcan is a great general all purpose heavy for any situation, flamer is fantastic for fire weak enemies, which the game has a ton of, and its turret form destroys nearly everything in the game, vulcan turret is better against faster enemies, like putrid domains abomimation roller ball. Railgun as heavy is a fantastic option for bossing. Railgun turret doesnt beat out flamer and vulcan turret, even in mass encounters.

Alch is fantastic for engi as the 3 skills offer massive boosts for ourselves while also being fantastic group support. The alch heal is a flat health regen, and you can chuck it and revive allies across a boss arena

But yea, due to the nature of regen tank, you're an ungodly strong tank, engi fills out the damage role, and the lvl 10 heal skill on alch fills out the group support role while also providing you with a fat duration of 5hps for emergency situations

The whole build survives everything due to health regen pushing you over the ring of crisis 25% threshold

With amber moonstone basically overcapping your defenses, you're free to drop leto's armor and run fae armor, allowing better dodge rolls for hairy situations

Get the 2h fire sword off the demon in tutorial and proceed to roflstomp everything in the game with savage attacks, making you dish out 50 damage hits at lvl 5 lmfao

Which btw, moment you hit 2nd zone, the gear difference gets massively different compared to EA

Like actual build worthy gear

You start getting gear with multiple unique affix types

And if anyones doing monk, the first npc you meet in 2nd zone mountain pass is a vendor, and she sells a crap ton of super high quality build defining monk gear

That'll allow you to pick a diff class

Once my Warlock is lv 5 I'll multiclass it into a Bard

Minthara just has a tadpole in her head like you, but ||doesnt have the power to block it out like you do, so is a puppet for the absolute ones. Whether you kill her or not in act 1, she gets sentenced to death for not retrieving the artefact in act 2, so you can save her and through being in your party, your dreamer will block out her absolute one master-puppet influence. She's still evil alignment cause drow dickhead nature, but compared to dark urge being able to be worse than hitler, shes really not that evil||

I didn't learn much about jaheira other than shes like the local rebel scout leader against the absolute ones, and because i was playing a durge worse than hitler i bathed in her entrails, so no idea what shes like

Baldur's Gate 3 is like the first game of its type that i've played where they made an actual lore accurate heavily story driven murder hobo character for players that love to kill fucking everyone in sight and they wrote dark urge (or Durge as players call it) SO FUCKING WELL

The amount of stupid ass homicidal psycopathic tendencies your durge can get up to is hilarious

And if you play a durge barbarian, your character will belly laugh at people and make fun of their insecurities

Like the village inbetween grove and goblin camp with the bugbesr and ogre getting it on, durge barb will barge in, belly laugh at their pathetic sex lives and literally laugh them out of the barn so hard that they get too insecure to fight you

I'm still learning ||who the hell had the power to fuck you up, being that you're a literal avatar of a death god and everyone feared you, but i guess your ripped apart half dead body got picked up by absolute ones, put back together, and had a tadpole infused into you||

The amount of times ive walked into an ambush is STAGGERINGLY HIGH

I was playing with a buddy and he had to afk for an hour while we were in the underdark, and not even 5 seconds after he stepped away i moved 5 feet, game triggered an autosave, and the boss of that entire zone fucking dug up out of the ground and engaged me in combat

But since i autosaved, i figured, eh i'll try the boss out and then just reload save

THAT FUCKER HITS LIKE A TRUCK

I'm trying out the seemingly popular warlock/paladin build, but just took it as a theme and building off it my way, and have a hired bard companion, and that boss 1 tapped my companion from full 40 health, then turned and knocked me down to 10% health in 1 hit

I knocked its ass off the map next turn, killing it instantly, but i'd like to not do that, because loot

Also warlock/paladin is an op af bastard of a build

Its all about crowd control and crits, and crits causing crowd control, which leads to more crits and just repeats on itself

fear an enemy, enemy is more susceptible to crits, crit the enemy, crits cause fears, enemy is again more susceptible to crits and basically becomes permastunlocked with you perma critting them

People had been talking about GoO lock and multiclassed paladin/warlock, and without directly looking up a build but rather looking into it myself, i can see why

Warlock paladin is a jack of all trades, but also a master of them all

Pal and lock are charisma, and get charisma to damage modifiers, and then locks got stupid shit where crits fear enemies, fear makes them more susceptible to crits, so you just spam crit crowd control everything

Its honestly pretty nuts

I'm sure theres more hidden detailed stuff i havent grasped to how the build properly functions, but i have the general gist of it

And because of the way it works, you can frontline tank with it as a spellcaster, which is even more nuts
