For playing your way its fun, but not efficient, you probably wont get very far utilizing your own dmg with this weapon. Unless you're going to do something like dual wield spellblade, it does give an insane amount of flat cold especially if u put a perf roll melee flat cold.

Could you put a few words to why the Needle is better than Maw in general for that build? I always have such a hard time comparing the effectiveness of different affixes and the +100 of melee void on Maw seems like a really strong affix

Higher attack speed, comparable flat damage, built in high crit chance, and free attributes; it's also a more common item that is theoretically easier to get good rolls on than a high LP Maw.

(Also block to parry is kinda nice)

you have a ton more flat on the rare item, and more dot chance between bleed and ignite, and slightly better attack speed

the actual tooltip dps can be quite misleading sometimes. the only true way to know what the real dps is, is by hitting the dummies in champions gate (heoborea divine era)
