Hi people, maybe a stupid question but I'm a MG newb. So, I understand that I cannot sell items that dropped with the CoF. But what's with the non-CoF items that state "cannot be traded"? Can they NEVER be traded, or can't they be listed YET? What does the "cannot be traded" line mean in the game's context? Because I CAN trade them to my wife or brother using the buddy-system shards.

In Bazaar you cant search for One-Handed Axes, with suffix: Chance to Shred Armour on hit. It is not on the list.
A really importan suffix, so i hope it can be fixed

Items marked with "cannot be traded" can just never be traded - it's like a CF-lite tag.
You can gift any equipment using the "buddy system" stuff, that is not considered trading.

i actually feel bad because im probably top 5% of hc players in gold income just being able to consistently get to 100 and farm decent corruption, so i feel bad buying some of this stuff for almost nothing comparatively. b/c for meta slave builds like pally HH you can still sell gear almost like it's SC

if you have any kind of competency with the game and want to have a slightly better chance at buying something good when it comes up HC is the way to go

best way is to search your affixes and price low-high, then sift through and see around what value everything is at. takes some time, but if you ballpark it, you can usually get some good sells

sold a few idols for 2 mil a piece that way

only issue is the inflation that happened not too long ago, so you gotta sift through the 1.5 bil items that aren't worth nearly that much

Just need to grind higher corruptions. if you do 300 c or so it is like 1.5k an echo or something, then you spend 50k every so often on random stuff, or for selling random stuff, selling is the most efficient way to spent points, and build up moneys

I did an experiment. Thrift shop challenge. I wanted to see what corruption level I can do exclusively using free gear from MG Bazaar.
-Every piece I use has to be an item purchase from the Bazaar for 0 Gold.
-Exalted base for LP Slam must also be 0 Gold.
-Idols 25k max cost (there are no free idols).
-Not allowed to use anything I find either.

Oh and I used a melee build with no ward.

I was able to get to complete 802 corruption. Couldnt consistently stay alive in the 900s. 800s was as high as I got lol.

So my initial impressions of the Merchant guild is basically 90% negative and 10% positive. I really think this distracts from the gameplay itself and doesn't offer anything of value to the player. Also the whole two factions thing is just stupid, why do we have to pick one? The only good thing about the MG is that I can buy stuff that other people don't want, which is cool. The Bad however far outweighs that, now I have to manage a fake ebay account in between playing my game, and I have to do research on the costs of things and try to analyze stuff that I don't ever want to use... As far as the gameplay itself goes, this is just getting in the way

I should be able to just sell my items and have them go up for sale automatically at some kind of average price and if I want to set my own price for something special then I should be able to do that, and I shouldn't have to go to the bazaar to do that, it should be just like selling a normal item

I'm not suggesting that we remove that, I'm suggesting that all players should be allowed to trade + sell items while not having to put their gear away in the closet forever to do so. There's no need to limit players, it's just an unnecessary feature in the game. I really liked having the prophecies in the game, but now they're gone and that whole aspect of the game has just been chopped off as far as I see it... Sure if you want to restrict those prophecy items to only the player that found them than that's fine, but why make players suffer for no reason? Oh and also I now have to completely rebuild my character now and I can't actually buy what I want because I have to play with this crappy gear until I rank up... this is an unnecessary hurdle that will turn off most players and will cause a lot of players to just quit the game. This is absolutely terrible game design, you put in a great feature and then make players not be able to use it. No Kyo I'm just pointing out an obviously design flaw in an otherwise great game, and there are tons of great solutions to this that will only ever be noticed or appreciated by hardcore players, which is the best of both worlds. Stop ignoring the obvious here, YES, anyone who picks one faction will lose out on all the benefits and fun and cool details of the other faction, this is not factually incorrect, you're just ignoring the fact that if you pick one of the two you will be losing out on the other by definition of how it's implemented...

This is effectively punishing players for no reason whatsoever and the more they've played the game, the more they get punished, this is the very definition of bad game design (sorry, I'm not trying to be offensive to anyone, I know the faction idea might've sounded good in theory, but it's terrible in practive and it's just the truth).

Tell me why I should want to throw away the progress I've made on one? In my case I really didn't have a choice, I could get a certain item to drop so I had to switch factions, literally it will not drop for me, so now as a result of that I have to almost start the game over again and no longer get to enjoy a part of the game I really enjoyed.

Yea, and I'm telling you that it should be, because it's one of the best parts of the game, so to reward players they should simply implement a tier 10 reward to allow players to wear their items no matter what faction it came from, or just get rid of the stupid factions because the player base should have access to both elements of the game.

If you have any issues they could easily be solved by simply keeping the "cannot be traded" clause in the game as is, any items won through a prophecy would be bound to the player that found it (or gifted to their friends).

I really don't think this conversation is going anywhere because everything you've thrown out about the supposed, "positive" points here are completely and utterly useless to me and anyone else who approaches this game without this distant history of other games and their flaws (which are 100% irrelevant to this conversion btw). You have yet to even suggest something that's worth discussing more as far as I've see.

any arpg that has been made with both trade and ssf so far always had a fatal flaw that SSF is just times and times worse than trade, its so much harder to progress from your own loot than to just buy stuff. But there are A LOT of people who just dont want to trade they want to play on their own or with friends but not trade. EHG decided to finally solved this issue by implementing pity system in a form of loot boost only for those people who donbt wanna trade to compensate them for their inablity to aceess market.

what you are suggesting will completely destroy the original purpose of balancing ssf and trade, since if u merge factions trade yet again will be miles ahead of SSF players and devs would destroy everything they tried to balance hope this makes it clear for u

What you're doing is called, "making excuses" , in this case it's for clearly bad game design. Like I said earlier and many times before, I'm sure the faction idea started out as a good idea in Theory, but in Practice and as it's Implemented Currently (I'm capitalizing these words so you realize their importance) there is nothing positive about this implementation. I don't care about other games, I've literally been playing arpgs since D1, baldur's gate, ultima, yes I know there have been issues and I don't care about what the spirit of the faction idea was, but as it stands today, April 27th 2024 it is currently an unnecessary apartheid in the game, and the only reasoning you've seemed to give for this distinct split is that some players want pride in knowing that they've found their gear themselves and didn't purchase it from someone else?

I loved the COF, but if I'm going to play this game more often I needed to switch to the MG because it's just better at finding the gear you need, so now as a result of that choice I have been unnecessarily punished by the game.

And from now on, I will no longer love the COF because I won't even get to play that part of the game. That's just plain EFFING stupid, it really is. I thought that was one of the best parts of the game.

The things people complain about are detail like boss drops in cof or UI design of emg etc, literally nodbody complains about not being able to use both things at the same time

cause most people dont even think about switching factions its that simple, people who switch is either 0.1% like you or people who wanted easy gear and went cof instead of mg and then realized their mistake

i played LE for 4-5 years when 1.0 launched i didnt even think abt cof cause i knew itll be just a waste of my time
