It seem like u create high poly model early on and blender cant handle it cuz it is bad st sculpting, u can start by modeling chibi character or just a head then u can reduce the polygon and working on body afterthat

Also I use different program for sculpting, one above I use Zbrush

Free ver of zbrush is super limited lol cant barely make anything at all it is like using Microsoft paint in comparison to Photoshop lol

But I recommend to try it if u wanna make anything organic since it is able handle million of polygon without slight lag

Although interface and control is hard to learn at first
