Just because the storm seems to be getting bigger doesn't mean it getting stronger. Hurricanes,Typhoons, and Cyclone are areas of intense low pressure. The storms can grow more intense and organized. But after they die out the clouds spread out due to things like wind shear. Also the three names listed above are all the same thing. Different parts of the world have different names for them.

Your right on most of those though is pretty much like this. Ok the Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Eastern Pacific their called hurricane. In the Western Pacific, Southeast Asia area their called Typhoons. And in the Indian Ocean, Arabian sea area, and the entire southern hemisphere, their called cyclones.

No meteorologist has ever said willy willies. Nor have I seen Australians call that that. It's probably a local funny term.

And as for taifu. It must be very local becuade I have never heard of that before.
