So in our nation, the authority responsible for water and energy resources management is called WAPDA, the Water And Power Development Authority. But due to it being a national authority, it naturally cannot send personnel to every corner of the nation to take pictures/see the reading on a household's electricity meter. So they came up with an ingenious solution that would solve this fundamental problem.

It's solution? Just don't send the personnel there and take a rough estimate of the electricity used.

So what happened was, as expected, frightening for any person; be they a farmer or a wealthy person.

One day last month, in my village, I saw a person sitting in tension on a bed in the open section of the village center. Naturally, I went to him to see what his problem was.

As I asked him questions and got through the ice breaking, I saw what was in his hands; an electricity bill. Seeing that I got happy because I thought that he must need some money and coincidentally I happened to have some in my pockets, so I asked him how much money the bill was asking for.

Usually in such rural households, the bill comes to 20k PKR maximum for a comparison
