• Smooth zoom: This new feature allows you to smoothly zoom in and out of the game, making it easier to navigate and view your city at different scales.
• More buildings: We've added a range of new buildings to the game, giving you more options for building and designing your city.
• Dark build tool mode: This new mode makes it easier to place buildings and other structures in your city.
• More trees: We've added a variety of new trees to the game, giving you even more options for beautifying your city.
• Grouped building icons: We've made it easier to find and localte icons over buildings by grouping them visually.
• Street lights: Automatically added street lights will help your citizens see at night.
• Diagonal rails: You can now build diagonal rail tracks to connect your city.
• Ground tool: This new tool allows you to change the ground more easily, giving you more control over the terrain.

TheoTown backend is currently experiencing some unexpected issues. As a result, online features such as the online mode, gallery and plugin store are effected. We're looking into it.

A tiny announcement regarding a recent change in our Discord server structure. You might notice that #bugs-n-crashes and #old-support has been made read-only. That is because these channels have been replaced by a relatively new Discord feature called forum channels. You can now report bugs, ask for support and help in a single #1085157639706640414 channel by creating a new forum post for the associated issue or problem. It has been done to make it much easier to keep track of issues and your support requests.

We are very excited to announce a major update to the game that we believe will take it to the next level, literally. After careful consideration and feedback from our players, we have decided to incorporate anime graphics into TheoTown.

Starting today, you will see new and improved anime-style graphics in place of the old pixelated ones. The new graphics are vibrant, dynamic, and will bring a whole new level of excitement to your city building experience.

As part of this update, we are also introducing a new gacha system where you can select a mayor for your city with special abilities and anime-style graphics. These mayors will come with unique skills and designs that will make your city stand out.

We are also pleased to announce that the game in the coming days will be rebranded and known officially as "TheoTown x anime". This title represents the merging of two unique worlds: the retro pixel graphics of TheoTown and the colorful, animated world of anime. Just the way you all like it!

We want to thank amazing outside team of developers and our designers (Kulche) who worked tirelessly to make this happen. We also appreciate the feedback and support from our players, who helped us make this decision.

As part of this update, we have also replaced the profile pictures in the forum with anime avatars to match the new theme. We hope you enjoy this new update and look forward to your continued support.

Server has been migrated to use Pidroid's experimental leveling system instead of Mee6. Level information was migrated from Mee6 to Pidroid as of 27 of June, 16:00 EEST. Mee6 will remain to be used alongside as a backup if there is an oversight in Pidroid's re-implementation. Public access to use the leveling system in your own servers will be added once appropriate interfaces to manage the configuration of the XP system are added and tested.

While the initial vision encountered unexpected complexities, we remain dedicated to enhancing your gaming experience. We're also exploring ways for plugin creators to contribute to transport systems through APIs and interfaces. Our aim is to strike a balance between core improvements and community involvement. I have some updates regarding a city stopped growing issue that some of you might have experienced lately. It was caused by tollbooth happiness falsly being considered for building place selection. The bug was introduced in 1.11.04 and will be fixed in 1.11.11. The updates for Android and Steam are already in the pipeline and should be available shortly. For iOS the update may take a few more days to become available. Until then it helps to remove all tollbooths or set their charge to zero.

If you experience this issue without using tollbooths please report it as usual so that we can have a look into that as well.

Server milestone
The time is finally here @everyone ! Mysterious and hidden forces have tried to slow us down, but we ended up victorious. I am very proud to announce, we have hit 50.000 server members!!!

Just shy of 7 years ago, this discord server was created. What a time it has been these past 7 years. We slowly grew bigger and bigger as a community here, and saw the game and you all develop into the community we know and love today. We have seen new creators rise, and some old creators retire, new members who joined just to ask a question grow to be familiar faces for everyone, and above all else, we have seen the creativity of everyone here continuing to amaze us.
It has been a long and amazing journey up to this point. Let’s recollect a few things we witnessed, shall we?

• We have seen the new versions of TheoTown teased and released, who remembers TT66 and TT76?
• We have seen tons of discord bots come and go. We all know and love Pidroid today, but who still remembers its precursor TheoBot?
• Loads and loads of events, from city building ones, to even server wide TheoTown trivia quizzes! The quiz questions are still in the notes app on my phone.
• An ever-changing mod team. Most of you will remember Ene7, but who still remembers Fabi or Josh?
• The TheoCraft server, playing Minecraft with everyone.
• Evan accidentally purging an entire channel.
• Plenty of jackbox weekends in the voice channels.
• The entire staff being part of the -obby family in honour of lobby.

It took about 8 months for this server to grow to 2000 members. After that, it took until 2021 to grow this server to 20.000 members, and today, we have reached 50.000 members. For the people paying close attention, these two numbers might already give you an idea of what I am about to announce…...

The Scavenger Hunt 3.0!
That’s right, we are bringing back a crowd favourite. The first two hunts were well received, and we gave everyone a teaser with our short Easter egg hunt just a few months ago, its time to bring out the big guns again. This scavenger hunt will be bigger and better than all the ones before. More elaborate, storytelling, cutting edge technology, we can’t wait to show you all.

The logistics!
The scavenger hunt will start on the 24th of July, and run for an entire week, so ending on the 31st of July. The exact time it goes live will be announced closer towards this date. It will be available the entire week, so grab your agenda, look at the dates you are free, and mark it with the hunt! As previous times, the hunt will run both within and outside of the game.
Now a hunt would not be a hunt without a prize at the end! Not to worry, we have thought about everything. Everyone who finishes the hunt, will get a small prize, but the top 5 finishers will get an additional reward!

Interview with a winner!

RemainsStay: Hello everyone. Allow me to welcome to the studio: KolaKattz! He is a previous scavenger hunt winner, and today we will ask him some questions about his win, how it felt, and hopefully get some useful tips out of him to help you all with the upcoming event!
We have 6 questions for you, so let’s jump right into it shall we?

KolaKattz: My pleasure! Thanks for inviting me.

RemainsStay: The first question, how did it feel to win the server wide, or internet wide I should say, scavenger hunt back in 2021?

KolaKattz: Man, let me tell you. It was exhilarating. The rush to finally discover the final piece of the puzzle after a gruelling 24-hour search, felt freeing. I had no clue I was the first one, though I did know I was close to the end, together with a few other members. It was a close race, but I was very happy to make it across the finish line first.

RemainsStay: Has your life changed at all after winning the event? In a good or bad way?

KolaKattz: After winning the event, it took me a bit to settle down into normal rhythm again, after all I had been searching for the past 24 hours. It was fun to see all the congratulations in the server from the other members, but I still tried to be down to earth about it. Now, 3 years later, it is mostly a fun story to tell, eventually something I’ll tell my grandkids when they’re old enough.

RemainsStay: Can you tell me what went through your head when you saw the event announcement?

KolaKattz: Right after the announcement was posted, there was a big hype in the server. There had been a scavenger hunt before, but at 2000 members, so few members had actual experience with these events. It was the first big event most of us witnessed, so naturally we were all eager to get started. It didn’t help that the announcement came on the day it started too, so we were all rushing to start!

RemainsStay: How did you feel about the reward you got for winning?

KolaKattz: It was amazing to be the one responsible for introducing the transport feedback, and thus the introduction to the transport update. It was something long awaited within the community, so to have that reveal ascribed to my name, was such an honour. Of course, the diamonds were also very welcome, booked me a nice trip to TheoWorld.

RemainsStay: What is your view on the upcoming scavenger hunt? Are you going to complete for the prizes again?

KolaKattz: Normally, I am very competitive. I will surely check the event out, but I’ve already won once, I think someone else deserves to take that crown this time. I’ll be cheering for whoever wins, and watch comfortably from the sidelines. As for the event, I’m sure it will be a spectacle once again. I’ve been ensured it will be bigger and better than any event before, so surely something to look forward to.

RemainsStay: Are you willing to share any tips for the members planning to compete in the event? Any knowledge that helped you win 3 years ago?

KolaKattz: Always. Some tips I can give you, is try to think about places or buildings that are less used or known. The organisers have been known to hide stuff there. Also an important hint, check everything. If you find something, think to yourself, “is this valid”, and double check until you are sure it is or isn’t a part of the hunt. When you do find it, you also have to think about how or where to check if the hint is valid of course. Lastly, everything the organisers post, could be a hint I’ve learned, so keep your eyes open!

The very first finishers are a team of staff and ex staff lead by our developer @olive ingot (who was not involved in organising this hunt). They solved it after just a day! However, since this team have the advantages of being staff and having a dev on their team, they didn't participate for the prizes. Hello @everyone!
I have great news for you all, but first, allow me to take you back to the year 2019. It is the 23rd of October. We sent out a special announcement asking for your input in what you so desire in our game. The big winner? Multiplayer mode. You asked, and we delivered.

However, we did not stop there. Your second most voted feature, was a transportation update. It took some time to get started, we've lived through a global pandemic in the mean time even, but in 2021, the scavenger hunt winner KolaKattz officially announced the start of development for it.

Many have wondered, speculated even, what was happening in the background. Rest assured, we never forgot! We've reached milestones along the way, our discord community existing for 5 years and reaching 50.000 members. Now as we've passed 70.000 members, I can proudly announce.....

The Transportation update is here, coming to a device near you! Keep an eye out because today, Thursday the 23rd of October, exactly 6 years after you first voted for it, we will be releasing the highly anticipated transportation update!

We know it's been a long time coming, but we can assure you it has aged like fine wine, to deliver the best we can. And we didn't stop there! The update will not only be accompanied by all new icons from Kulche, but another huge step forward....non square buildings! Still in small amounts, but let's see the plugin community to wild with ideas!

As a final gift, to celebrate, we have added new music to the game, along with a new soundtrack manager so that you are able to select the songs you like best to bring you the best experience we can!

As we are closing in on the new year, with our friends in Asia and Oceania already starting to celebrate, allow me to take this moment to voice our appreciation for each and everyone of you.

2025 has been a great year for us, as it saw the release of the biggest and most highly anticipated TheoTown update ever. The transportation update! Not only that, but we've been able to see our discord community grow from 57.000, to over 75.000. That's over 18.000 new members we've been able to welcome!

Continuing this path, we are steadily growing towards our 100k member goal, and also towards our 10 year server anniversary, both of which we already have plans for ;).

Hello, we are currently experiencing intermittent TheoTown online service interruptions due to a significant surge in new players. We are monitoring the servers closely and will provide updates as they become available.

We’re currently observing login issues on Android. Because of the rapid increase in players, we have hit the capacity limits for Google Play Games services. We are already in contact with Google to increase these limits, while we simultaneously work on resolving other service issues on our end.

Hello everyone,

The recent surge of players from Indonesia has been incredible to see, but it has pushed our current infrastructure to its absolute limit.

To be transparent with you all: our server architecture wasn't built to handle 100 times the usual load. We’ve reached a technical ceiling where we can't just add more servers to solve the problem. The current system has hit its limit, and we’ve had to make some tough calls to keep the core services from collapsing entirely.

Our main priority right now is keeping the Plugin Store accessible, as we know how vital it is for your cities. However, to keep it running at all under this pressure, we have had to temporarily disable:

• Online Mode
• Plugin Store Search (including comment search)
• Other non-essential Plugin Store features

We are monitoring the situation closely, but please understand that these features may remain offline or intermittent until the traffic stabilizes. We’re doing what we can within our technical constraints to keep the lights on.

It is with the greatest joy, that as of 36 hours ago, this discord server officially reached the 100.000 members! Just over a week ago, we were sitting at 75.000, and calculated we would reach the 100k sometime in 2027, and now here we are! In just over a week, we have been able to welcome over 30.000 new members to our community (because yes, we are at 105k already as I write this).

Can you add zombie disaster?
Zombies are possible, however, somesome has to create graphics for it. So...
How can I play TheoTown on PC?
Unfortunately there's no pc version of TheoTown. You may try to use an emulator like BlueStacks or Genymotion.
Why are the textures pixelated?
Due to hardware limitations we had to decide between: Fancy graphics, many buildings, reasonable performance. We decided to go for many buildings and reasonable performance, therefore a bit more pixelated graphics.
Why don't we have an option to change our water colour?
You can actually change the water color by writing a plugin for it. It's not added as setting into the game as taste varies and it would need a lot of texture space to provide you with multiple options built in.
Are the hills or elevated terrain coming to game?
No, the game was not designed with elevated terrain in mind, therefor that won't be part of the game. I don't think that fake hills, as they are provided by plugins, aren't really a solution.
Could you add a tsunami which would be triggered by a meteor if it hit the water?
A tsunami would be reasonable, let me add it to the todo list. Oh, it's already in the list :)

What is sandbox mode, how do I access it?
Sandbox mode is a god like game mode, which can be really boring. You can convert cities into it by going into a city, tapping on the city name and then on game mode. Be aware that this cannot be undone due to incompatibilities.
Can we have an illness disease?
An illness disaster have been on the todo list for a long time. Just give us a bit more '^.^

Yes, that's possible.
Why are the new skyscrapers so pricy?
Unfortunately, we cannot work for free. At least I can assure you that they are not essential for game play.
Could you add walking pedestrians/inhabitants?
Traffic calculation is already pretty heavy, so I doubt that it would be a great idea as you won't see pedestrians most of the time.
What does the city rank do?
The city rank allows you to build things that are suitable for your city. In the future there will be more rewards for gaining them.
How can I access the debug mode and the console?
To enable debug mode, just go into the settings, tap on others and scroll down. Enable experimental features and debug mode. Now you can access the console at the bottom of the game menu.
My game is crashing for me. What do I do?
Write us an email to [e-mail] and try to explain when exactly it happens and what device you're using. If Android offers you to send a bug crash after a crash has happened please do so. It helps us a lot to spot bugs.
Why did you add In-App Purchases? It makes the game pay to win.
Exactly, that's what it's doing, but it looks as if mobile market functions that way. Most people don't want to spend money but would like to get all contents.

From now untill Sunday 31st of September we will have a new #events ! This time we will see who can build the best park in TheoTown! For this event, all plugins you want are allowed. There is no space limit to the park, just make sure it is still a park at the end, and not a complete forest. Sandbox mode is allowed, but if you want to create an extra challenge for yourself feel free to use easy or normal mode. Note Everyone can send 1 and only 1 submission, so make it count! If you send more parks, the first picture you send will be judged. This is to keep equal chances for everyone. After a week, we will review all of your parks, and the top 3 will be awarded!

1st will get 300 diamonds
2nd will get 200 diamonds
3rd will get 100 diamonds

This server has reached the age of 1 year old! To celebrate, we are releasing a brand new building in the game, specially for all discord users. The Discord statue! We want to thank you all for making this possible!

Today marks a big day in the history of TheoTown discord! Today, this discord is celebrating its one year anniversary! In this year, this server grew from 1, to 2825 users! That is almost 8 people joining this community daily! During the year, great things have happened. Together, this discord has helped notice bugs and has helped coming up with ideas for the game. Some suggestions submitted by people here, have actually made it into the game! We have seen the most amazing cities being built, seen the progress of countless of awesome plugin creations and the fierce competition during the #events events. We even started a scavanger hunt through all of TheoTown, thanks to this discord! These events, and many more things, thanks to all of you! Each and everyone of the 2825 people. We could have never hoped to achieve all of this within the first year.

To thank you all for being here and creating such an awesome community, we decided to reward you all! In honour of this one year anniversary, Lobby has made a brand new building, specially to celebrate everything that has happened the past year. Now I know that a month ago, a version of this building got leaked by accident. Some people came up to us and asked us about it. Yet, for all of you, so also for the people who have seen the leaked version, the new building is still brand new. Since then, the building has been added upon and got even better.

Spooktober update!
Hello @everyone, we have been working on an update for the past month which includes fixing Lua issues and working on new features. One of the main features is the addition of funeral service aka deathcare (nearly pushed someone into a pumpkin for that ). We have also expanded abilities of Lua so you can go even crazier! We've also added a hospital building made by rjroldan1. Update also contains some critical bug fixes from traffic caused deadlock. And lastly we have added Landmarks VI and halloween special content.

we would like to have a high resolution screenshot of a city with specific contents. The purpose is to test it as a new icon of TheoTown. The city should look similar to New Yokyo City from the screenshot gallery (see the image below). After the absence of suggestions for around month, let us reveal the reason behind this. We are letting you, the community, choose what feature you would like to see implemented into the game. We went through all the suggestions you sent to us, and we picked the 6 most popular or most reoccuring. These suggestions are all very welcome in the game, but unfortunately we cannot implement all of these features. Hence, you decide!

After a week of voting and heated debates going on in the server, the votes have been counted and the winner will be revealed!

MULTIPLAYER!
Multiplayer got 31,6% of all the votes, making it the clear winner of this vote. This means that we will now put our brains together and begin working on introducing a multiplayer feature into the game. No estimated date can be given yet, but we will start working on it right away.

For those of you who picked another option, no need to panic. We clearly saw which options were also very popular and demanded. Multiplayer won, so the other suggestions are back on the shelf, but you never know when we might take them off the shelves again.

Even though this update could take a while to be released, we have readded something into the game at the time of writing this. Since Halloween is coming up, you can now enjoy the sight of pumpkins in the game available as decorations! 🎃 To celebrate the voting and it nearing Halloween, we have also picked 10 winners at random to receive a free copy of the game or a diamond gift as they choose! Those winners will be contacted by us as soon as possible. Since Halloween gets us in such a good mood, let me tell you a little secret while we're at it. For update 76, we have received your first feedback on the 1st stage of the update. Please note that we do look at #beta-feedback and decide upcoming fixes and updates and currently it's time to express all your thoughts as they won't be changed for a decade. As for further stages, we plan online opening up to small amount of people to test the current things in place and we plan to redo the UI to modernize it and work best on all 3 platforms.

Unfortunately, I've come bearing with some bad news today. TheoTown 76 multiplayer update is getting cancelled. I just can't help myself and nuke all cities. It's just, it's so much fun!

We knew that you'd get mad at us so instead of TT76, you'll receive atomic rage update named after you, because we know how you feel!

It will contain fixed fonts, pickle vehicles, real time in-game time, plugin system rework which might break all plugins (by break plugins, we mean brick your device) and much more. One of the most important features, in my opinion, is the unification of versions for all platforms, meaning that PC users can now celebrate with pickle tokens! Correct, we're adding 3rd currency in addition to diamonds and theons.

Currently we're pushing out 1st stage of it. Let us know your thoughts and any bugs, like plugin store not working (it doesn't happen on my machine, LOBBU) and infinitely exploding cities (should now be fixedTM).

Okay Hello @everyone, I hope you‘re holding up well.

I am proud to announce that our server recently hit 10k members! To put that in perspective, that's an entire ton and a half of pickles and that's pretty heavy. I couldn't lift that myself alone, so that's why I must thank you for carrying such a weight together as a community! A lot of bugs were fixed after you reported them here, same can be said for your suggestions which were implemented into the game. You’ve even decided on what update we should work. For that, we’re greatly thankful to you all 😍

To celebrate, your friend Kulche will be hosting some related events to it as well as few giveaways. You can now get corrupted role from the unbelievable bot store by buying 10k item. Speaking of TT76 or simply the multiplayer update, I am glad to announce that it is entering its final stages. The first beta of the update shouldTM be coming soon. Some features that we have planned for it such as resources and region wide transportation will instead be added in separate updates as they’re slightly game changing and require more work than expected.

As for UI and user experience update, you may list your suggestions in great detail in the #ui-n-ux-suggestions channel. We’ll review them and let the community decide on the best solution from all aspects for us to implement.

Today we nuke Lobbypolis Thanks for a one brave man, who managed to find the original contents of the mixed letters and numbers I've send previously. Apparently it meant that 76 > TheoTown is no more. It revealed that TheoTown 76 update is coming out this month, this week, localized entirely in my kitchen the beta branch for now.

TheoTown 76 or other known as online-mode update introduces multiplayer aspects of the game as well as a few QoL changes and critical bug fixes.

Android users of version 1.8.45 can already find a button while browsing regions called Online mode. Clicking on it will bring you to the online mode. From there I'm guessing you'll know the further actions yourself, I'm sure.

Unfortunately, the update, as I mentioned, is currently at the beta branch being only available for Android users. However, do not be alarmed. TT76 will also arrive for iOS and PC users, just at a later date. It is to ensure all bugs have been squashed and the mode has been polished up.

Discord is having some issues. The QUIZ has been halted.

IMPORTANT
There is a new Discord Trojan attack going around where it logs you out of Discord and you have to log back in. Once you log back in, it then has access to your account and user tokens.
With this information, it is disabling 2FA and locking the user out of their accounts. It then attempts to log into your linked accounts, such as YouTube, Twitch, Steam, etc.. If you use the same password for these accounts, then it will likely be successful in doing that.

This Trojan is being passed around disguised as a link to a game.
If you download this fake "game", during its install process it will modify the Discord JS files instructing Discord to load up a couple of extra scripts that convert your password into plain text that it can then harvest. This is why it logs you out and you are required to log back in.

To prevent this from happening, do not download any software at all that has been passed to your Discord.

If you have downloaded anything recently and you have been logged out of Discord, do not log back in. Instead, uninstall Discord and re-install it from the official discord website.
This does not affect the Web Browser version.

Christmas 2020 might be a whole lot different than what we thought it would be at the beginning of the year. Might? I’m pretty sure it is actually. We've been planning of adding support for seeds which represent real world places in the upcoming updates. We've just had one problem: picking the places. As much as we'd like to add every possible place to the game, there's just so many maps we can cram inside the game.

Therefore, we've added a new temporary channel called #map-seed-suggestions where you can post submissions of the places and vote up on others. Please follow the rules and post only submissions. You should vote on the places you'd like to see added.

Important notice regarding an upcoming update

When re-installing the game on Android Q (10) or newer the game will no longer be able to access the publicly stored game files due to changes in how Android apps can access external files (they simply cannot).

In order to continue to use your old files after a new installation of the game you will have to copy the old ones into the new (internal) TheoTown folder manually.

Please note that uninstalling the game will delete these internal files without warning. We are sorry for the inconvenience. That's what we all have to deal with now.

In order to access your files on your device you should be able to do so in the built-in files explorer. When connected to a PC you'll find the game files in Android\data\info.flowersoft.theotown.theotown\files.

This change will occur following update 1.9.82

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

@everyone, we have some exciting news to share with all of you! Blueflower, the company behind our favourite game TheoTown, has been acquired by, and will be merged into, Arts of Electricity! AE will bring this game to the next level together with all of you guys. We can expect a bunch of new features and very exciting developments to the game. For the real enthusiasts among us there will be more p2w mechanics in the game, but don’t worry! In order to balance out the removal of ways to earn diamonds for free, we are adding a huge new feature – Loot boxes! We can’t reveal the contents these loot boxes will hold yet, but we are sure you will like them.

On another note, with this merge into AE, we have had the great opportunity to relocate some funds to bring a completely new game to life. Get ready for the all brand new TheoTown Dating Simulator! You could always be the mayor of your city, but now you will get an opportunity to become the boss of your love life. Let the game begin and find your perfect partner.

We are all very excited about these new developments and finally are happy sharing it with all of you guys. Be on the lookout for more information when these updates/the new game will be released!

Bad news

Hi everyone. Unfortunately this message is one bearing bad news. TheoTown will, as it seems, not be taken over by AE. Even though we had all the plans there and were in the last stage of making the merging official, they sent us an email saying “April fools”. We are truly heartbroken by this news, and have to apologize for hyping everyone up about the changes that were to come to TheoTown. We were truly exited about all the new stuff, but unfortunately, those plans have now been cancelled. We hope you aren’t too upset by this, please understand the situation we are in.

On another note, we did receive quite positive feedback on the TheoTown dating simulator, and seeing as we were already making progress on that, we planned to go ahead with it. For anyone interested in a sneak preview of the new game, you can DM our lovely administrator @sterile peak about it, and he will provide some previews to check if people are still interested. A small update, regarding further TheoTown updates on Android platform.

You are advised to update to version 1.9.95 as soon as possible. Further versions no longer have the access to external storage. That means that the game will not be able to read old save folder and will not migrate it. Seeing that there's still a lot of fellow mayors stuck on older versions, we decided to delay the release versions on the Android platform for the time being.

Big announcement, celebrations incoming!!!

Hello there @everyone , let me welcome you to this very exiting announcement. I know that I am a bit late to the party, but we recently reached 20,000 Discord members, that is amazing!!! We are already going strong at 21,000 plus members currently, something we would have never guessed when this server was created. About that, as of October, this server has also been in existence for 4 whole years!

We thought these two celebrations should not be overlooked, so over the past 2 months, we have been working behind the scenes to bring you guys a special event. I won't disclose too much about it now, but you sure don't want to miss it. So to the technicalities we go:

When: On Monday next week, the 1st of November.
Where: The event starts right here in Discord, but no promises it will stay on Discord. (little hint, could not help myself)
Who: Everyone who wants to participate can join!
What: redacted
Prize: This event can be done by everyone, and there is no rush, but after completing the event, there is a very special reward!
Timeframe: The event lasts for exactly 4 days after launching. We start the event Monday 01/11/2021 at 19:00 UTC

Scavenger hunt 2.0

Hi there @everyone , yes you read that correctly. The special event for you all today is another Scavenger hunt! We did the very first scavenger hunt when we hit 2000 members, today we bring it back once again to celebrate reaching this goal ten times over!

How does it work? For the scavenger hunt, we hid codes all over Theotown related interwebs, socials, and more. It is your task to find all these codes and make it to the very end of the hunt. Now I hear some of you asking, where is the first code to start us off? Where do we send the codes to, where do we find the next hints? All will become clear, once you find the first code! To start you off, when we hit 2000 members, we added a special discord statue inside the game. Now of course doing this again would be too easy, but perhaps checking Theotown itself doesn't hurt? Goodluck hunting everyone!

As for a last few technicalities, the codes are hidden for a reason. It would not be fun if you guys started posting these hidden codes in the discord server itself, that would ruin the fun for other people participating, so we ask you not to share the codes anywhere in the Theotown discord server. If you are working together with others, please do so in private dm's. If you are really stuck? Who knows, a dm to me might work as well after some time, but definitely not right from the get go!

CONGRATULATIONS

Player by the name of KolaKattz has completed the hunt! With the first person completing this hunt, we want to reveal to you all what the big prize behind this hunt is all about. For years you all have had the chance to enjoy this game, and get to do so for many more years. Over the years we have read all your feedback, and sometimes even implemented those ideas! This time it is different though. We are working on something big, but very specific, and we need your help. We are planning on reworking the current transportation system inside the game! For this we need your input. A channel (#transport-system-feedback) has now opened up in discord, and we invite each and everyone of you to share all your ideas on this transportation revamp. No idea is too crazy to share.

Together we are making this game, together we are enjoying this game, for many years to come. You all rule and we hope to have you around for a long time!

Whether you still have to wait a few hours, or have celebrated it already, whether you celebrate on the 24th or the 25h. Let us all celebrate this Christmas safely and with lots of love. One thing is for sure, we love each and everyone of you for being here with us during these times. Hello @everyone,

We would like to ask for your opinion regarding the recent beta 1.10.32 update. Specifically, the new smooth zoom feature.

At certain zoom levels, texture interpolation becomes a necessity. The current one which is used is called linear, however it makes the city look blurry. On the other hand, we can implement nearest neighbor interpolation, however that would make the things look blocky.

Which picture do you prefer? Let us know by voting below. First one is nearest neighbor, the second one is linear.

In regards to the current situation

Hello @everyone,
We assume you are all aware of the current situation and escalation of the conflict in eastern Europe. We, as the TheoTown community, have an announcement to make about this. First off, we want to note that we condemn all acts of violence and will always be an advocate for peace. This being said, we understand the impact this conflict may have on some lives within our community, and that this conflict may cause strong emotions among people. As we primarily see ourselves as a gaming community, all unified by TheoTown, we do not want our members to have to be confronted with everything that is going on when enjoying the game. We want the TheoTown community to be a safe heaven and environment of peace for everyone. It is therefore that we have decided to disallow discussions within the community platforms about the conflict. This is to both prevent discussions from developing and to provide everyone with this space of comfort and peace. Political conversation has always been discouraged and disallowed, and in this situation we will continue to follow this stance. We hope you all understand our reasoning behind this.

A statement on the recent banishment of a prominent member from the official TheoTown platforms:
Multiple incidents have been brought to our attention, on various occasions, about statements made by a prominent member of the community. These statements include but were not limited to showing support towards the violence currently happening in the east of Ukraine. Regardless of personal opinion, we do not condone behaviour supporting the violence against innocent people whose lives are in ruins or have ended. This behaviour was exhibited in a number of communities, official as well as unofficial chat rooms, surrounding TheoTown. In a number of these communities, there have been instances of disrespect and borderline harassment of other members surrounding this topic. We want every person regardless of their opinions to feel safe within the community and are heavily opposed to harassment of any kind for any reason. It is for this multitude of reasons that we have decided to take severe actions. In this instance, that includes removal from the official TheoTown community on the basis of spreading false, misleading information, supporting violence and war crimes being done against ordinary people, user harassment and misrepresenting the official stance of the team behind the game and the community itself. This decision has not been made lightly and has been extensively discussed.
