It's not custom terrain, I used sand, x3 on the front, x1 on the back. About the shadows, it is just shadow decals to make an elevated illusion. If you're familiar with the sunken highway. It also works like that as illusion.

its usually demonstrated by a cube but if you dont change your perspective and put a non square shape, its still isometric

but no longer BOX, and thats where non isometric shapes come from

youre using the theory of perspective but with more complex shapes
