Let's start off with a premise:
The Dortmund team from the season before the 24-25 one got in the UCL final, so it was always going to be difficult repeating those highs, but Dortmund management still tried to conferm those unbelievable highs by bringing in one of the most, on paper, exciting managers out there : Nuri Sahin, but from the start the team did not click with him.
I don't even need to tell you that, with an HIGH PRESSING mentality, having the 9th most sprints in the league, the 14th most intensive runs and the 14th most distance covered was never going to be enough for a side competing for trophies, so there came an important change: Niko kovac in, again. From the start, Niko kovac understood his team, and made some important changes, and i am here to tell you those
One of the games that i wanna evidence from this season was one of the most important ones : frankfurt 3-3 Dortmund. "Why just this one?" Because we need it for evidencing the difference between the 2 seasons, and because, analyzing, was how Dortmund played majority of the games. Sitting in a 4-4-2 in a man-to-man press with the 2 midfielders pressing frankfurt pivots, frankfurt was able to create space between the lines and create a 4v4 situation however there is the huge difference between kovac and Sahin: Kovac calculated that risk, and still decided to play like that. And it worked, because even when frankfurt tried to cross it Dortmund defenders would use the height advantage to clear it away and place themselves in a compact 5-3-2 so frankfurt wouldn't be able to overload Dortmund's half. On the ball Dortmund had some risks though, because they did line up in a 2-4-4 with just Anton and schlotterbeck on the ball, using the goalkeeper as a 3rd man and creating overloads on the wing, where ryerson was a deadly weapon, as you know, for the crosses. In the precedent season those risk weren't calculated and the team had less motivation.

In general, this team looks more organized off the ball but lacking a bit on the ball, so personally i think this is a really good transitional season, if your team gets a better ball playing defender, a good backup midfielder and a 2nd option for guirassy, i do think this team could win something, even though Bayern Munich is doing better (for their analysis, football meta did a really good job). What do you mean by "than the other this/last Season"?

As i said, for what kovac has currently, they are doing really good, he often guesses formation, the anselmino situation surely hasnt helped you and you need a guy that can replace adeyemi when he's injured, even if it's not easy coz on the ball and off the ball, he's really good, always knows how to position in the pressing phase, and of course, his goals. And the most important thing of them all that i think limits you all a lot, handling pressure on important games.

24/25 was better than 25/26, the main diff is serhou guirassy, top scorer in the ucl last season and not as good rn. yes u finished lower last season, but thats after a shaky start, u guys went unbeaten from march all the way til may including 5 wins in a row at the end. Thats even with an eintracht frankfurt with star strikers marmoush/ekitike and leverkusen with xabi alonso.
