checkmate was designed for trials and comp tbh i think its a good change

It feels like it becomes too easy to snowball with the mechanic. IMO each round should be a fresh start (minus supers but even then)

people assume that as long as you win 2 games for every loss on average, you get an adept at 7 wins, and for whatever reason it doesnt work that way

only downside is that players that relied on special kills arent really getting as much benefit

and the health changes did mess up ttks a little so everyone had to adjust

there's not really one set primary that stomps in every scenario

120s get beat by autos, autos get beat by scouts, scouts get beat by pulses

smgs and sidearms are king unless ur like 15m away

i think the problem with checkmate is that theyre trying to make it more like Halo, forgetting that those games were arena shooters where weapon balance was heavily depentent on obtaining said weapons

and that movement wasnt as fast or diverse, grenades/abilities werent as diverse in function, and each individual weapon was its own thing rather

than balancing weapons, their different archetypes, various perks and combos, and exotics which often function drastically differently than their legendary cousins
