sometimes the downloads will just go way down. like im downloading halo infinite, and it had like 10 mins left to go, and then it just went all the way up to like... 1 day and 15 hours, and stayed there. nothing changed in my connection and i normally have to restart my computer and clear my download cache on steam to make it download normally again

some games you just download the whole uncompressed file, other games you download a smaller version of the file and unpack it. sometimes the unpacking takes a long time, that just depends on the devs. One game that's horrible at this is payday 2 where you unpack for like 2x the amount of time it would take to just download the whole thing even with poor internet
