I think 100% has a lot of refinement to go towards still. There's so much to do, I'm sure we don't have the most optimal path by any margin.

And unrestricted vs. NMG is really just a few minutes difference now. More skipping a few cutscenes than anything massive.

Well, I've never couched on GDQ before, or anything else, but my time would be flexible for it if you all needed someone. If I did, I'd do some Unrestricted runs to make sure I understood them fully.

Anywho it’s arrogant of me to think i already have the perfect route, but i dont see many ways to improve it. For a game like this, its completing a checklist and since devotion always gets grinded at the end exactly how most thing are done doesn’t matter.

You guys are probably better at this than I am, so I need to ask you: What do you think of the dagger? How does it fair for speedruns? I've noticed that despite the attack speed, the damage falls pretty hard in late game, and it can take a while to kill stuff.

Damage falls off and you need to get a touch more personal with the mobs to deal any damage. You are in risk more longer with a bit smaller payout in damage. This is why I like other weapons more

Yeah its the range that really drags the dagger down for me. Hammer is too slow, dagger is too short, everything else is fine.

Yes, and with any follower, but I haven't left the save to try to replicate it yet.
For reference, I had gone through and killed Leshy, and then did one extra run (going through the green portal thing until I couldn't)

My guess is that it is dependent on the time it takes to complete a run

ok so weird question but for verifying runs, i dont have my twitch connected to my game so i cant get totem donations or anything but i do have my game linked to my twitch so upon first entering the base i get a notification saying to collect your twitch rewards, the only thing it does that i can see is it makes your first follower the pogchamp twitch drops one. is this legal for verification? im not sure how to disable it now anyways since its been added to my acc

That is good speed for first run!
Top tip is to avoid all cult management. And then there are considerations if you have go fleece or not. If you get go fleece before Leshy, then build it up and avoid dmg. Or just face tank Leshy

is this a thing i havent known about where you just dont need 7 to unlock the first door?

cause you cant dupe any for the first door to open...

can you technically do the first door then with any number of followers?

and then is this something that happens only on 1.0.11 and before?

As far as I know, this glitch works like this:

• The number of followers to open the door is always one more than the actual number of followers.
• In addition to that, one waiting follower is counted in that number.

Therefore, the minimum number of followers required is five. This makes follower cloning a bit inconsistent, but you can keep running even if you have only six followers. You can also save two potential followers in SC, but you have to fight normal battles.

If you quit the temple fast enough

As fas as I know, it should work with any version rn (where follower dupe works)

Thats midas glitch for a 5th isn’t even useful in 100% since we require fighting all the witnesses. It would probably only save a couple seconds over sozo’s 4th

Hey guys, I'm candidating to run Marriage% during a french marathon (thanks @sly kraken for the idea) and I'm looking for incentives. I'm on holiday rn and can't test something :
Is it possible to kill Ratau as soon as the night between day 2 and 3 if you already completed his tutorial ? Does Fox appear if you get to a subarea using the glitch?

I would like to attempt to kill Ratau in one night instead of just pressing fast forward through the night, as an incentive

I have no idea about killing Ratau but other incentive ideas: I know naming conventions for cult members are supposed to randomized but for a marathon/charity based thing I know in other speedruns I do I usually list an incentive to be “name X character”

I prefer running Marriage% than Sacrifice% because you have to gather stone fragments and still beat DW4 (Sacrifice% is DW3 > AN1 > end, and you just care about gathering bones), there's just those 2:30min at the end where you're supposed to press Y to fast forward time that I'd like to fill a little bit, hence kill Ratau in one night

I know it's possible, I'm just not sure if the Fox questline is available as early as night between day 2-3

Completing the wolf quest isn’t hard, 1 fish and 3 followers. Actually if we just need to sacrifice ratau then giving up a heart.

Anyway our option is either teleport glitch to reach area or gain access from doing crusade in each area.

Honestly that can be said about a lot things in this game. Easy to do but requires doing a number of crusades.

Yup, was thinking to give up a heart and access areas with teleport glitch to spore grotto, Midas cave and smuggler sanctuary. Pilgrim's passage is unlocked at that time of the run.
Ideally teleporting to one another without going back to the cult if we can find the right setups.
The idea is to actually do everything in one night and not even open any other location than DW.
I'm giving up a heart to Fox, there's no point to sacrifice 3 followers and I actually need them for marriage% (at least 1, potentially 3). And 3 followers is all I have in this run (+ i'm not doing anymore crusades so I don't need the heart)
I also plan to downpatch to 1.0.14 or something around that : less softlocks, no need for golden fleece in this run, no patched skip

And I can get the fish before the night starts to optimize a bit of time
I think the plan is good and doable, I just need confirmation that Fox will appear in the night between day 2-3 on a save where Leshy is dead already (and I think he should be there after DW3 and bonefire ritual)

If I can get a deathless run, I think I can hit sub 1:15:00 quite easily or even get closer to that 1:10:00

All bosses is neat. Its basically just doing an extra crusade in each area

In terms of how much to do in each run its
Any% (16 Crusades, no TOWW)
all bosses (20 crusades + TOWW)
all fleeces (20 crusades + mild cult management)
100% (20 crusades, cult management, knuckle bones, + devotion grinding)

All fleeces definitely isn’t a bad run. Basically lite 100% that cuts out half an hour of grinding. Probably more.

and the one who waits. I think that is the big one, since in any% we just bow and submit. The better ending

TOWW is hilariously easy in 100%. One of its goals is completing all 20 crusades before unlocking all weapons. That guarantees a godly weapon when fighting TOWW at the end of the run. I had a godly dagger and the sons still went down in like 6 hits

Yeah, that is why all bosses might be more interesting. With like lvl 1 or lvl 4 weapons

Yeah. 100% really doesn’t have anything making it more interesting then all fleeces. Most follower forms and decorations can be bought and doing like 2 ritual of enrichments provides the cash for them.

But yes as Data said devotion generation at the shrine is the most tedious thing. Every run ive done thats been the last thing. Most of my more recent runs have involved several in game days of grinding it.

Like my last run which shouldn’t be my best i had everything done on day 27 and then finally maxed devotion on day 32

Theres like 44 upgrades in the shrine tree. Its just naturally takes a long time. And yes i break every statue i find during crusades.

The only thing i can think of that might speed up the process is tabernacles. I dont build any because they have such a low cap and followers dont go to them as reliable as the shrine. But if you did build them early enough they would accumulate extra devotion. Its worth testing.

I should probably clarify that on one run i built a bunch of tabernacles at the very end to speed up the grinding but none of the followers went to pray at them so they were ultimately useless

Ive always struggled with poop followers. But you save it for the very end of the run. Or you do a ritual fast and unlock it right at the start

Anyway i put effort into preventing followers from starving or getting sick so i build a lot of buildings to prevent that stuff. Between beds, the farm house, refinery tables there a lot of wood needed. Trying to get it early just helps.

Oh I didn’t realize Hayu had made a unlock guide for 100%. Looks pretty good, but i would suggest adding a note that there are some general follower forms and general blueprints that can’t be bought and must be found on crusades. (13 general blueprints are not unlocked from the shrine)

The run is consistently about working with what you have. Its why the second is “sample run” and not just the route.

Zealous daggers are the most annoying thing in 100%. You want to reroll the dagger but zealous is really good in 100%

Well you need to be declare doctrines which can only be 1 per day and you only get ~20 of 60 required to declare them all. Which is to say you need to level followers up a fair bit

100% really is impossible to route but by just doing it you get a better feel for how it has to be done.

I really dont think tabernacles are worth it honestly. I tried them on my last run and its like they give maybe 200 devotions (thats a super high ball i really dont think they got that much) and that much devotion doesnt take that long at the end of the run.

My usual attitude right now is ~25 beds/tents, a farm station (level2) seed silo, 3 refinery tables, 2 propaganda speakers, the confession booth, 2 outhouses. And a prison if i need it, ive also built a scarecrow but i dont think its worth it.

Oh and i try getting 3 lumberyards down early. Makes it so you dont need to worry about wood resources during crusades.

Unlocking Most things are too bad. Its the more niche things that you really need to remember. And those are going to be listed in the checklist on my doc, or just use Haru’s guide on the site

For one it’s actually required to get all the doctrines. And yes only 10 followers can be at the shrine but they add devotion equal to their level so if everyone is level 3 its 3 times as much as if they were 1.

You can also randomly find fragments in crusades but that's not reliable
Also for some reason I get like 2 entire stones doing the quests to kill Ratau, I'm not sure why.

Thats true. Forneus gives them too, but you should take the blue print every single time you see her in 100%. And frankly you should only try and see her once.

Theres will basically always be followers praying at the shrine so we dont lose anything by sacrificing followers, which also helps us get to zealous weapons. And we just resurrect them back after they get sacrificed so we really don’t lose anything. typically only inspire to push followers over the edge for a level, and then bribe if i miss judged.

Its also why ascend follower ruital is fairly high priority (5th or 6th doctrine) if you accend a level 5 follower is 50% of a level for the entire cult.

I did speedrun in the past which was undertale TPE and a bit of randomizer of LttP recently. But I wouldn't mind dipping my toes into cotl to see how it goes.

I wonder what's the easiest route to attempt if I did and if routing isn't too difficult.

Routing is very flexible, you can basically go for what you're the most comfortable with (getting a few weapons/spells upgrades, the bosses order, getting the scripted weapons for specific crusades...)
Some are more optimal than others but comfort is key to learn the game imo, you can go for the better routes at your pace :)

The witnessed are super simple. Their gimmick is they summon regular enemies and disappear till you beat those. They basically have to be done with golden fleece and killed in a few hits.

100% just grabs followers all the time. You need almost 30 since a few die and cant be resurrected. Plus you need 5 or 7 for midas and the fox.

Also we need follower forms…but thats not that big of a deal.

Thinking… yeah we unlock silk cradle with 12 followers and still have 10 followers we’ll gain from bosses. So they kinda fall off in priority there.
