The second-order effects those kinds of things have aren't usually thought about. If there's any kind of ranking, that turns it from a tool used in matchmaking to a measurement of value. That sort of thing is why they got rid of the leaderboards, people would do insane, weird stuff just to get their name on there. That was also a good change, yeah. Back when MMR was visible I had two criteria for dodging randoms when I was 4-5 star.
