Issue with crossplay for Hunt, is for that to work with the current playerbase, it would have to be a "no choice" solution.

Again to run some numbers:
For hunt to have somewhere close to decent matchmaking and good queue times you'd need a playerbase of around 25k, ideally 30-40k.
If you create crossplay, you now need to have AT LEAST 75k people spread across 3 different "platforms" PC, Console & Crossplay.

No, but let us say console Hunt has 20k console players and 20k pc players.
The cross-play is opt-in and fairly popular, so 5k from each platform opt-in and play crossplay lobbies.
Now your Console is 15k, pc is 15k and Crossplay is 10k.
You've dilluted the pool of players for fair and fast matchmaking and reaching critical mass of unhealthy lobbies.
