They can always bring the damage/1 tap range down to compensate, it's not fair to balance bows, spears or such around the idea of "well it's balanced if they hit arms that are in front of the enemy's torso anyways 90% of the time as they are aiming at you"

i dont mind the arms at all, its in your control to aim the shot, yes something like slugs are easier, but in return you get huge one tap ranges

It's in your control to aim the shot at their torso yes, it's not in your control whether or not the arms will be there
Hence why they added limb pen to literally every other gun ages ago
Since it was the same issue with every gun and turned into issues like machete being meta because the melee animation made your arms cover your torso as you rush the enemy
well you just assume arms will be there, they dont like appear, gotta avoid em
At that point might as well aim for the head

ive had no problem with bows or crossbows etc, but who knows maybe i have the magic touch

Biggest gripe I have with their design is that they:
- Not authentic Vikings nor 1890's interpretation of Vikings
- Have Icelandic first names, but Jewish last names?
- Not Danes
but they are just cosplaying
and cosplaying with creativity and their own immagination of viking aesthetics

I’m personally fine with the melee, I think a better approach for a nerf would be nerfing that drop off. It flies stupidly far right now.

Personally got no problem with it, ai being shredded is fine by me. As for PvP you can always bring other melee weapons that achieve the same.

Game is now unplayable and crashed for the first time since owning it after this patch. I cannot turn off Anti-Aliasing and the game is stuck with horrible grainy flickering over almost all textures. If Anti-Aliasing is set to off it just say nope and reverts. If I pushed a patch out like this at work I'd be fired immediately.

to be fair tho, weapon slot melee weapons are a massive joke rn.
Why would anyone pay like 40-50$ for the cheaper of the good weapons and up to 100+$ for a dedicated melee weapon, when they can also just take a primary weapon that has a powerful melee ductaped to it without suffering any downside on the primary weapon itself, and only have a bit worse stamina consumption on the actual melee part and all that for just 10$ more than the base weapon?
Functionally picking up a Riposte weapon gives you a Sabre that can only do 4 instead of 6 heavy attachs but needs no slot of it's own and only costs 10$ instead of 50.
Weapon slot melees had a purpose but then they messed them up with certain additions (cough baseball bat, spear, one slot katana cough) but it really does seem now they want people to use variants rather than dedicated melee weapons, and I don’t know why they keep pushing for loadouts that can do everything via alterations of stats, arsenal changes, weapon prices, and overall performance/balance changes
Yet at the same time they make changes that- at best have a good idea/intention- but are just fundamentally flawed in execution
Case in point, the poison changes to the Immolator
I personally would disagree that melee weapons had purpose before tbh.
They were not quite as badly overshadowed as they are now, but even with the slight dowsides to the primaries and higher stam consumption the melee attachments made em largely redundant
If you are the guy with a melee weapon, a bayonett makes your up close ohk advantage mood because they also have that option
A shotgun usually shreds melee, and you can even get one in a tool slot rn

So the sniper can run a Mosin with Sights, a quartermaster slug shotty or drilling or other amazing secondary for mid range, and a spear for one taps up close on console
But i can see hoe it affects console a lot
I say “it’s over” for dissatisfaction, not game ruining but damn well negative

There's no reason hitting someone in the leg with a throw should kill them at crazy distances, maybe even close.
The fact it doesn't break a sprint like other throwing tools is crazy
If it only fails on leg hits but kills with arm hits it might bw fine
and yeah legshots just shouldnt kill at all tbh, unless they add falloff to the damage and it only does it really close up
But not being a OHK reliably would make it go from really good in PvP to really bad in an instant
Afterall it just has 1 try by default, two with an 8 point trait
But a tool shouldn't be really good in PVP. Players shouldn't be pulling out a Tool for a PvP encounter unless it is a last resort or niche situation (or meme/challenge).

I guess my point wasn't that it shouldn't be good - just not 'very' good. A short spear shouldn't feel like a pocket-arbalest, ya know? It is a highly versatile "tool" - a leg or arm shot shouldn't OHK probably or else it might be better off in the 1-handed melee weapon area.
And I guess the other thing is, I am not a huge fan of this new trend of release a male/female version of every single Hunter. Instead of each Hunter feeling like their own individual now, it just feels like we're getting clones of stuff
The Morgans felt okay, redneck daughter and hex breaker were different enough that it wasn't super obvious, but it's becoming more and more noticeable
And it just feels like the characters are getting shallower and shallower as it's happening
They are very "2010's designed" they feel more modern than most other hunters.

Redneck's Daughter was a great addition IMO. Hex Breaker is basically Van Heslsing IMO - more a tribute to these Weird West game types... not my thing but alright.

The game is set in Louisiana in 1895, not in Northern Europe in 1066. These are Scandinavians not Vikings. Maybe not even that, the female hunter has a German/Austrian surname.
I've recently been playing a game called Rise of the Ronin which takes place during the 1850's where your characters outfits are a mix between japanese and american, super sick, add a hunter with that kind of look

I've said this a few time now lol, but I really wanted them to be Descendents of Vikings, but not actual vikings. Just as Witch Hunter comes from a long line of, well, witch hunters, it would have been cool to have some norse hunters that came from a line of Vikings, but are still period accurate/hunt fitting. Hell, could have even made them Berserker origin, and take some hella drugs before entering the swamps. But they just.... he looks like he was yoinked outta Vikings the show, and she looks like she decided to wear a mop as a wig, and has never done any kinda arm related work in her life. I just... I'm really disappointed

Most nordics come from a line of vikings.. not many people wanted to move here cause Scandinavia had a lot of great famish, way way more common for the people to leave their country.
It's still a long time ago and Christianity pretty much took over all old traditions except for Yule (stretching it) maybe midsummer and valborg? (Also stretching it)
Realistically Iceland is probably closest since they try to modernise old Norse I guess?
But I can't really see how old traditions would survive thanks to how big the church was and influential

I was taught that the Swedish vikings were split. Half didn't care and the other half were Norse believers but I barely remember this stuff honestly.

I could argue "it would make the game less hardcore", but then again, we have death scream, hit markers and headshot sounds to begin with, so it wouldn't really change a lot I guess.
The point i think is that the gamedesign wants you to have to listen to such sounds and sometimes not have very clear information if you got a kill or not.
Thats for example why daily missions like "kill X hunters with Y thing" or "deal X damage to hunters with Y thing" are not shown in real time ingame
So why not just give a random percentage? We already know if we hit them from a hit marker.

Sure, but there is already A LOT of help to confirm kills (as I said hit marker, death + headshot sound), so you could argue this is just a slight help for people with hearing impairment..
what's so dam bad about the spear that so many ppl loose their shit over it. Just have some fun with it while it lasts. Or is it one of these things that completely break the game and I just happen to be fully spared through some ultra weird coincidence?

That's the same bug that's been in the game for throwing axes since they released the throwing axe. I keep reporting it and they still haven't fixed it. Sheesh.
My throwing axe crosshairs disappear randomly for an entire match, and don't come back until the next match.

most hunt players are familiar with breakpoints but tend to limit their focus to 25-point increments. e.g., is the damage +/- 100, 125. these are important breakpoints as they correspond to chest shots and missing health chunks, but there is another as well: the 130 breakpoint. the new mako deals 128 damage with regular long ammo and therefor...
TLDR: 130+ damage weapons can afford to be sloppy with their shots and still double tap anywhere and one tap people with 100 hp to the lower chest. 125 to 129 damage weapons cannot do that, even if they meet the 125 damage breakpoint to onetap people downed once to the upper chest.
I mean, pre-spear you had (for boss killing):
- Bomblance
- Melee Variants
- Sticky Bomb
- Big Dynamite (if you are a mad-lad)
- Posion ammo
Post-Spear you have basically just spear,, it simply just does so much, good PvE killing, good boss killling, good PvP Melee AND can thrown to 1-tap hecking leg shots.
And yes yadda yadda just don't use it, but that is simply coping over the fact of how strong it is :p
It something the Berth can do up to 41m and honestly, most people hit their upper-chest shots quite consistently.
Sure it is something Berth "can do" that Krag "can't", but it sucha edge case and would be more relevant if it was arm shots imo.

I've suggested this before as well. I think I specifically suggested an atl-atl. I figure if they really want to keep it.to hand thrown tools without the atl-atl mechanism then jarids are more suitable.

Blocks too much of the screen constantly, hinders melee (which you use way more than shooting), can give you away through wall clipping, and ruins the original intended feel of the game

I mean should you not two shot in the body and one shot in the head from long range with long ammo? If that is what ppl are asking for then of course shotguns would need an according massive nerf. I'm kinda for that. Thing is that some people just try to use shotguns at a range they are not made for and complain afterwards. Gotta have a backup and obviously you have to have a drawback from choosing short distance. Could be that there are registration issues with slugs idk.

DLC release has nothing to do with ongoing issues and won't be affected by it, it's an entirely different department working on it and artists can still work on their projects while people fixing bugs work on theirs. The patch having issues also does not prove them not testing their patches, all it tells is that something went wrong. They likely didn't have the issue on their build and issues appeared from it being deployed to the live environment. Test server is not for public use anymore as it only "worked" when there was a BB incentive to play there, otherwise it became a ghost town after the first couple days.
The release build passed all tests (if there are any) but the graphics issue wasnt noticed which is likely a sign of there not being a QA team that does explorative testing
I would assume that if they include commits to a build that change how configs work they would also test the changes
But to be fair even bigger companies make assumptions and run practically untested code in production

It can certainly add up. Say you normally come out of a match with 12 points to spend and you can get yourself physician, doctor, and a 1 point perk. With this change you have to choose between one of the two (or another pair of expensive perks).

I will say though, I don't think this nerfs solo necro in the right way. Being able to self-rez wasn't much of an issue. It was having to sit on a solos corpse until they burned out (which you'll still have to do).
Again, not expensive, just that if we assume a solo uses necro every match, then it can add up over time and delay them getting higher cost perks.
It seems like they're trying to nerf necro by making it inconvenient to rely on, which is fair. I just don't think it properly addresses the fact that people still have to to deal with others using necro.
Doesn't matter if a solo can stand up 4 times or just 1, I still have to plant my butt on his corpse until the fire goes out.
Same for teams using necro.

I would have liked to have seen a tool or trait with a long interaction time you could use on a body that would prevent necromancer from reviving them for a set period of time.
Use trait/tool, burn, leave them if they're solo or just plain prevent teamates from necroing from a distance for a while.
I guess one upside to limiting necro to one use is getting rid of derankers. Though there were other ways they could have dealt with the necro deranking issue, like averaging the MMR loss at the end of the match or only counting MMR loss after 5-10 seconds of coming back to life.

Havin' one charge of Necro means that solos gonna wait as long as possible to get up, further pushing the "burn and wait" issue.
Havin' hunters burning faster just gonna severely impact teams that is already affected by the insta-burn meta.
Havin' Solo coming back with 150 hp just gonna make it even harder to lock them down.
Havin' one charge means that solos ain't gonna stick around when they get up and just extract making it "Diet Death Cheat"
Not only that but you can wait till they are almost done, have them get up and have to be luck/skilled/not in another fight enough to kill them again at 150hp.

Yep. Burning faster is just a buff for solos. Now they can insta burn bodies and only have to camp the body half the time they would have.
this game bacame a BIG joke. from best pvevp outthere, now all you play is WAITING SIMULATION. 7 solo players in trio game and everybody is reviving himself. if you DONT WAIT 5 MINUTES for body to burnout that guy WILL shot at you next moment you are not looking at the corpse... just sad, what this game become, from simple masterpiece to something fortnite wannabe.. :/
Also the "diet death cheat" is exactly what I'm seeing too. They are just going to try and survive (by hiding, etc.) as much as they can so they can just rebuy Necro. Meanwhile they are still killing team players in lower MMR with impunity.
