indeed
hence thinking of ways to poison melees, but I think that's more complicated than adding a new tool that does that, such as poison knives
maybe it's desirable for balance reasons to make you less equipped against AI if you want to go with a more optimized pvp loadout
probably. the shorty changed my builds considerably, it's still a great killer at decent distances with a headshot
yes I love it too
but being able to kill nearly all ai was great
Eh... If I'm not running poison nagant I just choke nade the Immolaters
Or beat them to death with a gun butt
too bad there isn't a syringe that kills by injecting water/poison or other chemical into the victim
i always carry knuckles or a knuckle knife for my PVE needs in general.
I usually use the butt stock on the gun
too much stamina
i mean- valid, sure, but that's why i use the knuckles
one of the things ive always liked about this game is your loadout variability.
I don't really carry any other melee than an cleaver
variation is sometimes overrated... sure i can carry a lot of useful stuff but there are meta utilities
thinking about how to optimize my loadouts is one of my favourite activities in hunt
it's really fun
nah, very few utilities are mandatory - pretty much only the medkit, and very few are overtly bad, like the flashlight, and even that has a rare usefulness
well... they have/had their uses... flashlight is kinda useless cuz' nights are bright with the full moon
I feel like i'm running a junkie build cuz' i always have a knife, medkit and syringes
Every other utility i only use for fun
well the syringes are consumables not tools/utility
And yet i utilize them quite often and my entire bank goes to buy this stuff
i think youre imposing a meta on yourself more than the game is, I do fine without bringing or relying on shots
I'm beginning to agree that the frag bomb is just non-essential when waxed dynamite can really get the job done just as well and in more variable conditions
I love my stamina shots
thats the conclusion i reached 2-3 years ago
especially when I play solo
i like frags, but people throw so many chokebombs that waxed dynamite is legit
Yeah frags override Bulwark
choke bombs are just based but dynamite and frags ? ... eh ? Concertina bombs are more useful in my opinion
Just throw some of them to the entrances on the 1-st floor and w8 for the players on the second floor while banishing a bounty and ... profit
not for dynamiting a door you want to go through, and clearing an area you dont want to render impassable. theyre all useful, it is a mistake to consider only one thing "the correct choice"
Concertina needs a nerf IMO - stopping bullets is BS
I don't consider them invaluable, don't get me wrong, it's just that they are not THAT useful... my teamm8s use them more but concertina is just a direct upgrade even if it is a consumable
straight impossible if you don't have rending damage in your loadout
Btw i don't believe that concertina can be nerfed really
it just shouldnt stop bullets of any kind
neither should the kennel/coop wire
that useless waxed dynamite
Honestly if they just made bullet fire either pass through it like regular penetration on a fence or destroy part of the barbs.... that'd be enough.
They can't do this... If they add this they'd have to add penetration to hunters
Hm... I don't consider them useless, just situational
everything is situational. you have to choose. vary your loadouts
I don't follow your logic there.
If they add penetration to concertina they would add penetration to hunters like... You can shoot through a wire from a bomb so why you can't shoot a player through a player
I mean, they wouldn't
It's a game and doesn't have to be 1:1 to real life
Not to forget we also already have specific ammo types that can penetrate hunters by design
Spitzer and base nitro ammo
We used to have bullets going through concertina but that was changed at the same time when they overhauled concertina to only break from specific types of damage and such
also don't normal long ammo pierce bodies too?
That was one hell of a buff
Only with spitzer
Balanced compared to other melee or balanced in general? Because in general it's still just a melee weapon
don't know where you got 150 on the lower body from
it doesn't do that much on the lower body
both
it does
no it doesn't
if it does 154 on the upper body it shouldn't be able to 150 on lower torso
oh boy
either that or the baseball damage multiplier is the same as the upper torso
which wouldn't make sense since other melees do less damage on the lower torso
just tested it in the shooting range
this is bullshit
especially since "melee weapons" in this game have a 2 to 3 meter range
okay i stand corrected. still it does suffer from hornskin
that and it doesn't have the best range
I know that the cavalry saber has 2.5 meter range
no idea about the range of the baseball bat
probably around 1.5 meters
well...
idk just seems like for a shooting game running at someone with a baseball bat or saber is just a little unbalanced
melee is pretty easy to avoid
I love the gunplay in hunt, but I never enjoy playing against melee enemies
idk I'm 4 star
In a building? If you have a shotgun maybe
if someone is in the same building as you you should be a bit careful
true
All these events are fine for Crytek to sell a few blood bonds, but they detract heavily from the base game, and it would be nice to see Crytek put their game first, and give us a new map, and a new game play option. Approaching 3 years now, and that's a bit neglectful.
All of that's on the roadmap for next year. Well, the map is. New play options is unknown
Sure, but it is long overdue. We've just finished a long event, and along comes another? Way too soon, especially in the run in to Christmas when we're all busy enough.
The company can't just stop player engagement. The people doing new events and weapon art aren't the same people as level designers
The company are taking their eye off the game.
I'm sure it's very easy to say from the outside. But the events drive player count and keep the game around for the bigger things to happen. A ton of their focus is on the engine upgrade
From the outside? Some of us have played this game from the beginning - 5 years. We kind of feel 'on the inside' - make sense?
Yeah I'm sure that every customer who shops at a grocery store for 5 years has a good grasp on how it's best to run it too
I mean would you rather them make the events shorter
Think about what you write before being too defensive. Consider that many ideas from long standing players, loyal to the game, are quickly diluted by casual players who spend their days typing on Discord, and dreaming of their skin collections.
For sure, yes
Do you not like how the event perks effect the gameplay?
I feel like you and I have very similar takes lol.
I thought the last perks were poor if you want honest feedback
Lmao. As if being here less time devalues opinions. Grow up
Do you mean they could be cooler or they made your gameplay experience worse
I liked them for the most part, was nice to have ways to get bars back. It promoted people staying in match and fighting without ruining the core gameplay loop
Mate, I'm 55, and been gaming from day one. Don't you think maybe we have some good ideas for the game?
Not like the old ones with death cheat where the game played noticeably different
Age =/= grown up. Everyone has personal thoughts on the game. Just because you're around longer doesn't make yours better
If you only have the fire map at the weekend, why have fire related perks?
You can still bring fire bombs, and it counters incend ammo and burning bodies too
It's not like your gameplay experience is worse because the perks exist
So the event lasting longer isn't a problem
I think you've taken my earlier comment as a personal did - it wasn't. It is true that casual players have far too much say
The game play experience is completely effected. Players are chasing challenges, grinding events, etc etc, rather than focusing on the game. Shorter events, less frequent, would be a wiser step in my opinion
Well they definitely won't do that
It's almost like the challenges are half oriented towards damaging players and drives engagement...
I agree challenges have some problems
If the events were shorter they wouldn't be able to made them as good as they are now
Ask yourself what the real motive is for events - it isn't for our entertainment. I'd rather pay a yearly fee to support the game, and have the devs concentrate more on the game itself
Well a lot of fundamental changes are coming next year. The way I see it they're waiting for the engine update to fix a lot of the long standing issues
And just spamming events in the meantime since they've found a system that works
Which sucks for now, but I'm hopeful for the future
I don't really see a benefit to events being shorter, not realistically at least
The amount of time it takes to finish the event is definitely dependent on how long they make it last
Is it actually spam? It seems on a very similar pace to like the last three years
Well yeah but they're longer and with not much else in between
They have been focusing on making money - I get that. But too many events are discouraging the hard core players, who would like to be in a state of concentration, rather than distracted by the grind
They used to be 2 weeks
Like the very first ones were shorter but it's been this way for a bit
Started 2 months last year
Not everybody gets excited by skins. If you look at the original concept, it was set a few centuries ago, and initially all fitted, but now it's becoming a futeristic farce in many ways
It's a fantasy universe with the land of the dead. It's not supposed to be strictly historicall
Imo the most realistic way they could fix this is with a better event grinding system instead of the annoying challenges we have now
Shortening the event seems unlikely because there's player count dropoff when the events end and they also want to get the most value out of the work they're doing
A zombie hord? A cut scene on extraction were you can ride the horses to safety etc? A bigger team option? Let 2 players join a random 3rd? Maybe some independent servers, so leagues can be formed, or competitions? Some competitive options would be good.
Some of those are coming
I just hope the game doesn't fall into the destiny 2 trap where they find a good seasonal model that works and just repaste it over and over until everyone is bored and the game dies
Is more pve actually what you want? This is information that the lobbies dead or just not a fitting thing, yes please, coming, game is not an esports game. It's not built to be and would probably just not succeed like that
Not bad then, given that's just off the top of my head - imagine if it was an on topic conversation ...
Like if in 1 year the game is still just event grind simulator then yeah, id agree with you. But they've shown actually meaningful things coming in 2024 and I assume they will keep innovating with the events at least once in a while
I thought the shooting range needed PVE. Regarding your question though, imagine if you could lauch something in the direction of the enemy, that would have the hord attack them?
I don't think that has any place in hunt, truely
Pve is just there to make sounds and add to the atmosphere a little
Adjustments to the shooting range 100%
But manipulation of ai on that scale sounds like miserable gameplay
That will be a 6th year for many players. We shouldn't need a year to offer an opinion. We've seen how the direction has changed, and how the focus is getting further away from the game it originally intended
It's a zombie infested neighbourhood. A zombie hord makes more sense than a flying beetle with a camera
Things change yeah. But the way the game is right now has gotten it to it's peak player count and to the devs that probably means a lot more than what veteran players say.
There is a balance they need to keep of having the games vision intact but I think they know their limits
Makes sense =/= fun gameplay. The players as it stands are not suited for 'horde of zombies' killing. It's have stamina or die if it's more than 3/4 zombies
(this is an exaggerated thing, there are options but none of them are fun)
Also content gets made way in advance. The devs can't react to feedback and implement large changes right away. They have a roadmap of 2024 already, so any new things they want to change will have to be added on after that
It's because of the loyalty of the vets, that the game was able to grow, so never forget that. The community had a big say in the beginning, and many of the positive aspects came from that community. Are we now surplus?
You're way too stuck on old players have such great value. If new players don't come games die too
The devs are players too, they're basically veterans as well. I'm sure they have no malicious intent.
Sure, but think before typing. We all love this game, right?
This is why I said I'd wait a year to see how things are
Like you can see the direction the game is going yeah, but it takes large dev teams a while to course correct and go back in the right direction
Which you could argue is another problem, but that's the way things are
New players came because of the efforts of many. It isn't necessarily because the current ideas attracted the growth.
Oh yeah I'm sure new innovation had nothing to do with it. It was all the old vets sitting around word of mouthing the game to every new player
I don't know your gaming duration, but do you remember Farcry 1? That was a game built on the Cry engine. Crytek built that game, and as a multiplayer, it facilitated map making from the community, league play, servers, clans etc etc. They could attract far more players, with similar.
Mate, be constructive. Avoid petty comments
Every comment you make about being an og player is petty man. Just because you stuck around with the game does not make you more valuable than another player
I sincerely hope that we will never get built in clan support in Hunt
Were you around to experience it Dilba?
Back in far cry 1 days? No
Sorry Diiba. You're not old enough to have an opinion
But I know how clans have been in Hunt, and I do not want built in support for them
Which matters more than how it was in a entirely different game almost 20 years ago
It's still being played now, on private servers. The community kept that game going. What is it you think you wouldn't like, about being able to play in a 'real team' and compete against other teams, at a high level?
There would be like 20 people to doing that
They have already talked about wanting to add custom lobbies to Hunt
People are free to do competitions there as much as they want
Clans only run things when the publisher doesn't - so to speak. Crytek don't have the funding to do it themselves. They published the game themselves
I'm saying that when it comes to specifically Hunt, based on my experience with clans built around Hunt currently, I do not wish to encourage such behavior further with built in features for them
I'm sure other games have great clan interactions and such
It makes sense to have such in games like MMORPGs and such
But for Hunt, and many other FPS games, it creates very undesirable behavior
Not if properly organised. You play in a league etc, you have to follow respectful guidelines.
And who's going to "organize" that? They're not going to dedicate actual employees on babysitting clans, we already have a code of conduct regarding player behavior but it doesn't stop from simply ignoring it until they get in trouble
Again, a silly comment.
I'm not sure what else you're trying to convey with yours. Clans and private servers exist today, we don't need to have played farcry 1
Well, I don't have time myself, but I 'did' run leagues, and servers as part of a community, so do have good insight in to what it takes. It can be done again with todays players. They're not all badly behaved after all. Many are very mature, and more than capable of the same.
Challenges are fine, every battle pass does it. They just need to also tie it to normal xp gains instead of totems
Farcry 1 was built by Farcry. They still have all the coding.
Challenges should also stack each week so people joining in late have the same opportunities to complete the same amount of challenges
Built by Cytek - sorry ...
I'm sure the games code hasn't evolved since farcry 1, yes surely
Yeah tbh, just do weekly quests and stuff
They have the knowledge already - that's my point
Idk how crytek have such a hard time with it, fortnite has had the formula perfected for like 5 years now
y'all 'member farcry ? did ya 'now it was made by farcry
Capable, sure. If it's good for the game or worth the time, an entirely different issue.
One of the issues with the questlines tho is that some are just far too specific
unlike fortnite hunt is just built different m8
Yeah they make it obvious that they're trying too hard to be different with events that end up making the game less fun and also drown out the actual game lmao
Hunt is like a battle royale with no battle royale elements
2 weeks between two events smh
Should be like fortnite with zero downtime, seasons all the time
tbh hunt progression in battle pass is dummy slow
Extremely slo
Typical scenario - You're playing stealthy, and 'bang' your partner blows something up .... because he needs it for a challenge ... or quest' ... it's making a mockery of the serious nature of the game play
Embrace run and gun
What a travesty.
Stealth is cringe
This is all relative. There's people who finish the pass week 1/2 through play. If your only means if quest progress is challenges sure it takes a while
So offer event free server options?
Just don't engage in challenges if you don't want them. The population does not support enough queues to cater to your unique desires
Reject modernity embrace monke
I do think the actual weapon unlocks should be way easier to get.
If they want to make people grind for skins fine, but having to grind for new weapons has made me skip playing past events.
What questlines? My questlines always says “coming soon”.
I don't think so. Every game had pumpkins etc. Maybe let the player choose whether to play on an event server or not. Play the event, then play hard core etc
Why
Is the presence of pumkins that annoying
The spider has socks and it makes them sad. They need vanilla only
They can only split the queues so much
Because we only just finished an event, and they're styarting another. It becomes a farce.
The challenges they mean
Alr
Then ignore it. What's the point of an event pointless server
You can't ignore it
If too many events are burning people out they'll see that in the player numbers and space them out
It's a trilogy, the Moon trilogy was the same thing
The pumpkins disrupt your gameplay... How
The little things on the ground? Yes you can
They do literally nothing to gameplay
So let us play a few months, before the next? Otherwise it should be called Event - not Hunt
But 13th isn’t too early previously winter events was in 13th too
Man clearly hasn't played any other game since farcry 1. This is literally just how live service games work
Also, talking about it being 'hunt' footprints, indicators of 'how long ago' players passed, or clues were taken, would improve the hunt side
I'm going to have to mute you if you're continually going to be a child
I'm heartbroken
That'd be a cool event pact
I'd rather more open-ended challenges like "deal 600 rifle damage", "deal 300 pistol damage", "deal 200 poison damage to hunters". This way you have more options than being locked to specific weapons and ammo types
I know some of those exist already but I mostly want challenges about specific weapons and ammo types taken out
"Deal 1 bajillion damage with the Bornheim"
Sold, if it gives me 30 challenge points
I'm sure they made challenges to certain weapons is to artificially inflate their usages
Maybe
One thing that i hate about the challenges is that they further "prevent" you from getting prestige
whats up johnjohnson222
Like why would i prestige when i need to deal X damage from a tier 3 weapon? Or get damage from specific ammo type or tool?
pumpkins were the dealbreaker?
not the shitty visability
I know not everyone liked it, but i really enjoyed the Questlines
If they changed it a bit it would be perfect for events
the challenges are shit
Challenges are doo-doo
Lol
##PumpkinsOut 😆 Nah, free money is free money, but it would be good to have event / challenge free gameplay servers, where you can just play how it was initially intended
i mean daytime contract didnt have the event weather and increased money gain, still the totems and pumpkins though
Yeah. It depends on how serious a gamer folk are. There's time for fun, and events, but there's an awful lot of us who enjoyed the hardcore side of the early days, before they started attracting the doll dresser brigade for the extra cash.
I think for those ones to avoid just people playing like they always do they can split it into compact, medium and long and just call it a day tbh
what I really want is for them to remove either deal damage with status effect custom ammo or make enemy hunters status effect ones because the difference between them was infuriating last event
infernal making people immune to being set on fire was dreadful for it
Inferno, if you want to walk around the edge of the fire, but can't walk 'through' the fire? Hmm
So you enjoyed the first 4 months
after 4 months dark sight boost was introduced so technically the start of the end of "hardcore" since hunters all started with 150hp by then aswell
the thought of a "hardcore" hunt chills me to the bone because it sounds like the most boring thing imaginable
everyone is an easy one tap? yeah ain't no one fighting it's gonna be just corner camping
The game veered off on the launch date - it was better before in my opinion. That's not to say many things haven't been good additions, that also helped with the atmospheric nature (it still gets our adrenaline going, right?) but a completely different focus and agenda ensued ...
As digital artist can you pass along to the team to try to go back to that awesome grimy and actually dark aesthetic you guys had in the alpha?
I mean the game now is a lot less horror looking with how bright and even peaceful the map looks like
Like DeSalle during golden hours looks like what I’d expect stardew valley would be, I half expect there to be a fall festival going on at seven sisters
as a digital artist I can only pass along videos
So if I sent a link to the alpha gameplay followed by a section that says “hey can you guys make the aesthetic more like this?” You’d be able to pass it along?
Maybe some specifics mentioned in it, etc etc?
You can pretty easily tell where a team is going based on what clues are taken, the map cutout, and sound cues
Crytek PLEASE four rain maps in a row....dont mind rain but the thunderstorm is TOO MUCH!
Since people bleed again I finally played the Centennial Dum Dum myself. Holy moly 😳
Paired with iron repeater and this is just the wrath of the gods.
Sup man
no little german boy, dont play hunt: showdown!
"oh mien got, zis bayou is full of ze bullscheisse tradenwinden"
You know I’d love to have some like flintlock weapons be world weapons you can just find randomly like a shovel or something
@normal reef Redneck legendary Banjo Skin
Good meme
@copper mantle I agree which genuinely sucks(Especially with fucking dual wielding) but Im wondering if the effectiveness of aim assist decreases based on if you are moving while crouched
I think Im fine with the aim assist, but if they add in bullet magnetism it is over for me.
shouldn't fixing the sound bug be high priority?
guess sound doesn't matter anymore
rain so much fun lol
@zinc hinge you have 5.5 stars because 1 or 2 of you are barely in 6 mmr
Just want you to know that your comedic sense is great
Get rid of rain in regular rotation. It's a pain in the ass, it destroys visual and audio, and makes a lot of playstyles unplayable.
I do like rain . But it feels it has a very high probability of occurring lately. And 4 -5 times in a row gets annoying.
I would like rain if I could choose when I was going to have the chance of encountering it.
i.e. back when wildcards were in their own queue
More and more I think individual player elo stars should just not be shown in the post-match screen, as it's irrelevant for matchmaking anyways and too many people don't understand only team mmr matters.
@viscid frost. Solos should not get ANY advantage besides MMR reduction! If they don't want to partner up it is THEIR decision. I don't know who at Crytek ever thought it was important to buff them. They enter solo vs duo or solo vs trio by choice and should have to deal with it.
I mean if you enter with Randoms and then they leave immediately you also don't get any buffs.
I used to play solo sometimes before necro self and it was fine.
Weird. If it is Wildcard rotations I don't like the maps. Usually I found a lot of campy and overly passive players on them. So I prefer them in regular rotation.
However, I can see how it can be annoying for example if you bring a sniper loadout. Would be open for the idea of being able to remove the scope (once per match for the rest of the match)
it's not even as black and white as sniper vs shotgun. everything except cqc gets nerfed by rain
Yeah it was just an example.
sure, my point being that it doesn't even need to be that extreme for it to be obvious
How do we balance the game against shotgun crutchers? Simply take the fight outside. But even then, shotguns are a problem in Hunt. I've brainstormed suggestions towards the solution
shotguns are not the problem you're making them out to be lol
if you have those cringe 20 minute lair campers, head to extract and go next
Yeah
@mortal mason Just them removing the frkin pop up you get each time you add/delete health chunk would be good enough. It's free, yet you need to be confirming 10 times that you're sure you wanna do this 😆 IMO this should already be included in hotfix after they made it for free, but Crytek is just slow/lazy with everything so not surprised this is still the case
I think if they hid individual players' MMR star ratings but showed the Team MMRs only, I think the complaints about uneven matching would also drop significantly.
Honestly though a lot of those complaints come from Trio gameplay (from what I see) which in itself is more difficult to balance.
I'd like to know why KDA can't be taken into account for matchmaking. We've all seen the ELO spiel but in chess people don't try and kill each other
I know why it is like that, what im saying is it shouldnt be. its the only star rating that does that. If all 3 are 4 *s but close to being 3 it doesn't drop you to 3 and a half, it keeps you at 4. they do it because there is less players in 6 * ranks. It is 100% intentional so the top tier players still get games and it is 100% bullshit.
oh wait I just read it again, I'm not sure, but I think all stars have that system
no they dont. just 6s
if you are random queued or duo/solo in a trio it drops your MMR because it sees that as a disadvantage, which i also don't agree with. but thats a personal thing. I feel like if you random queue or you go into a trio as a solo/duo thats your own fault and you shouldn't get an advantage for that.
i've seen 6 *s random queue together to intentionally get into lower lobbies as well.
well if that's true, then I'm one of the victims, because I'm 5 MMR player and from time to time 6 MMR teams just fuck us
thats why i try to keep myself at 4. i bounce from 4-5. never been a 6. and the moment i hit 5 *s i have 6s all over my lobbies.
Sorry wait do you have any sort of non anecdotal info to back this up ._.
Seems like a pretty wacky roundabout way to shorten queue times for high MMR players when they can just... change the MMR brackets
The star bullshit isn't even used for matchmaking
It's all player-facing memes
I feel like you're reading way too far into this
the stars are absolutely used for matchmaking
They're absolutely not?
The stars are completely arbitrary, MMR is the only value being used and the skill brackets are manually defined per-region
They're just there to look pretty and give you something to look at
Each region has several different brackets (ranging from 1 to 6), which are regularly updated to reflect the current player population.
When you start the queue for a match, the system will try to fill the match from other players in the same bracket. If it is unable to fill the match with players with a similar PvP rating, it will expand the search to other brackets until it fills as much of the lobby as possible.
1-6 (stars) are used for matchmaking
if they cant find any matches
it broadens the search
but stars are priority
That's not at all what this says lol
yeah you're misinterpreting it
It's not 1-6 stars lol
Anybody who's played the game more than like... twice can tell you you're not gonna be consistently queuing into matches within a single star, even during peak hours in high population regions ._.
It just doesn't happen
That just isn't how the brackets work
100 prestige with 3400+ hours is more than a few games
where is this text from?
Linked above
the brackets are the stars man
ah, thanks
"On top of this, we will also be applying a PvP rating decay to players that have been inactive for extended periods of time." so basically this was not a thing until now
There's never been any indication anywhere ever that the stars mean anything at all
They're loose ranges of MMR
They're not used for matchmaking
This blog post is several years old
This was essentially a short followup, a major version 1.1 if you will, to the introduction of the current matchmaking system
(or I guess 2.1 makes more sense)
oh okay
because I stopped playing for more than 6 months and my MMR didn't go down at all when I resumed
(it probably should have, takes a while to get good again after a break of 6 months)
I could be wrong here, it's been a while, but I don't think your star rating will change I think the game just puts you in easier matches for a while after you've been inactive
But I actually have no source on that one I may just be mistaken or misremembering
ah, maybe the match MMR changed and not the actual personal MMR or something
Most people aren't religiously checking their actual MMR so it's sort of hard to tell, probably something worth testing I guess
yeah. I like to watch it myself just to understand how things work
so the stars represent a number. like 2750-3000 MMR is 5*s. if you are inactive your MMR will drop every so often. that is true. but it is also reflected by the MMR of ppl you kill and who kill you
yeah I know about the number and even how to check it
but for me it didn't go down after a break of 6+ month so idk
I thought I would get back with just 3* or something but if there is any decay it's really really slow
kda could be abused superhard for mmr
i've never had mine drop, but i've never been inactive for longer than a month or two i dunno what the time limit is
rating is recent kda anyway afaik
KDA has nothing to do with MMR
well you can probably find a correlation
you're not going to be 5* with a KDA of 0.7
but it's not immediate I agree
The issue with this thinking is that KDA is absolute and unweighted, MMR is relative.
A six star with a neutral KDA against other six stars isn't the same skill level as a 3 star with a neutral KDA.
a 4 star playing against 2 stars should probably have a wildly positive KDA
Doesn't mean 4 stars are good lul
MMR inherently takes relative skill differences into account, KDA really doesn't.
exactlyt
yeah indeed... in theory you can have a very bad KDA, and suddenly you win all your matches and never die; you'll climb the MMR ranking but your KDA will take more time to improve
or you can have a very high KDA with a lot of kills, but suddenly you get downed repeatedly by 2 or 3 stars (if you happen to get matched with them)
Yep for sure. After you have a big player profile as well it becomes very hard to change your KDA unless you start making it only go back so far... then we're literally just using "recent KDA"
If Crytek wanted to make the matchmaking tighter and stricter they could just do that. They're not doing it because they think it would make players leave the game due to dead lobbies lol
match making can never be perfect anyway
It's certainly not perfect in Hunt, and I'm sure almost everybody can agree on some pretty standout issues
I don't know if anybody thinks being shot immediately after standing up with solo necromancer should affect your stats lol
I'm part of the minority (I suppose) that would prefer not having any MMR at all
I like to be matched with different people randomly
whether they're better than me or not I don't really care
I like diversity
Do not bring aim assist to pc! I will quit Hunt if that happens.
Fixed, because mostly agree
as someone who plays solo a lot I can't really agree with that, it's difficult enough when you're solo
I know it's a "choice", but it's a choice that should be balanced
technically playing in teams is also a choice :D
It kinda depends tho right? Some things are fine, I'd argue most of the solo traits are actually pretty reasonable
yes I think they are
I don't mind solo magpie
but I actually agreed with someone who suggested replacing solo necro by death cheat or something
That was Strigglebit yeah lol
which should be expensive, but at the same time you get to keep your hunter, and teams will stop complaining
I'm in both boats tbh. I believe solo play is fine as it is right now except the solo res- really removes the slap on the wrist of death if you get away with it, and otherwise waste a trait slot, everyone's time, and throws off MMR if you don't get lucky and keep spamming it
yeah even as a solo I'm not a huge fan of solo necro
I've suggested giving solos death cheat instead too. I have no issue if solo players get to keep their hunter. It doesn't confer any advantage within a given match. If that person can go onto the next match with a level 50 hunter it really doesn't bother me.
yeppers. plenty of time in solo and teams and I'm just not a fan
As long as you don't keep your gear it's fine imo
well, fixed the suggestion of anyone wants to revote
I get that sentiment, but after plenty of time using it, I feel like it rarely works out as such, sadly. Most of the time is ends up just being a tool to spank some low mmr / absent minded players or your body just gets camped out and/or trapped to high heaven
Solo necro is great. A high level solo necro player in a game is like a mini boss. Just take away the chance to tank MMR with it and nerf the solo matchmaking modifier a bit
Literally tbh I'd rather solo hunters get a weaker or changed version of death cheat than solo necro
Death Cheat in entirety? No, I will say for sure that would be unbalanced, but changing it slightly to make it not incredibly overpowered would be nice
You absolutely could find a player like that. Different playstyles treat death differently.
Cause otherwise people would just queue solo and bash head against the metaphorical wall until they get a bunch of level 50 hunters with perfect gear and just ruin the game
Agreed
I would be ok if like, if you died as a solo hunter, keep half of your exp and lose all your weapons or something. And if you die again without extracting a bounty, then kill your hunter
Like, add some sort of failsafe to it to keep hunters actually playing the game instead of just joining, killing a few hunters or grunts, and extracting ad infinitum until they get to 50
So if you keep your hunter what are you actually risking then!?
Or like a growing cost of recovery, where it just eventually isn't worth keeping the hunter if you keep going in like that
I don't think it needs to be "free"
Also, I think solo mmr could be nerfed slightly, but I wouldn't say to nerf it too much. As a habitual solo player if I end up having to run into constant 5* 6* teams any more than I do already sometimes, I wouldd go insane
Nuh dead should be dead. Then rather give a one time per match necro self revive
But even that is unnecessary
one time necro self revive could be nice
when I run necro in solo, I'll use it only once maximum anyway
I don't see the point to repeteadly come back to life
rather than tanking your KDA and MMR
Clearing traps
at the price of tanking your stats, not worth it imho
except if you don't really care about your stats, but most of players do
During the solo event I met a lot of people who did not care at all xD
I also will agree with making solo necro into one time use, either per match or as a burn trait
But I always say to keep in mind my solo necro opinions are biased because I am a player who actively avoids taking necromancer solo until basically my hunter is level 50
Because I see no poit to just repeatedly revive and get shot in the head by some loser camping my body
I still find it unbelievable that I had enough time to bug out, crash, go get a drink, re open my game, go through the horrible reconnect system in this game, and this guy still hadn't burned my body, and was still watching my corpse. Literally the types of players in hunt. And also a prime example on why I don't bother with necro.
Well this loser was made by crytek choice to make solos "unlikable" thanks to their traits in addition to pacts
We also went overboard after a few days in the event. Not camping the solo body. But making sure it is really burned. Shot our all the weapon etc and as I said in my suggestion I don't think that such disdain/behaviour in the community is healthy.
I used to respect solos before the "solo traits"
I mean, if your team of 2 players is not able to get rid of a solo player then it might be a skill issue ;)
OK: First mate ambush headshot. So it is a 1v1. The solo is on avg a better player (mmr bonus). Even if you kill the solo. You have to either revive your mate or cover the body. Not saying this is an issue all the time
at least now people fighting dead bodies can feel skilled too
Considering I've had my solo body camped frequently and personally had a friend in duos get camped by a mosin sniper for literally ten minutes, I also just don't like inclined some of the player base is willing to let res like that interrupt the flow of the rest of the game
Next: Solo vs solo. You trade fair. One has self revive the other not. Suddenly the one is the winner even though it is draw.
i tend to agree, though id imagine bad players will have a significantly worse experience right?
skill issue 😁
jk, maybe they'll get better when playing against better players rather then staying in a noob echochamber
This lol
This is honestly why I think that people fight for necromancer
People just wanns hoot the dead body and sit and stroke it instead of actually playing the game or doing anything conductive with the game or their lives
I also think low mmr is heavily underutilized and a fair number of people in 5* shouldnt be there and get tilted when they match against good players
Which is why I've sworn off necromancer and basically refuse to use it because it's fucking boring
I've said before but I'll say again and continue to say it in solo necro conversations
Solo necro, is a gameplay remover
Both sides of the engagement lose in terms of enjoyment
Which is why I hate it, and seriously think it needs looked at, or solo changes need to be made to remove power from necro and put it elsewhere, or remove it entirely
Last event really made Solo-Necro's immortal with the right traits.
Necromancer player: There are two situations really. Either the players around you are distracted and you're allowed to resurrect - try to push an advantage, surprise people, hope they didn't hear the loud ass, Dead Ringer TF2 levels of loud revival sound and either leave to save your hunter, or push and probably die due to having less HP. But possibly enjoyable due to underdog treatment.
Or the people are watching/burn your body and your perk is made useless. Revive and die instantly, only real thing you're doing is losing MMR and fucking your KDA.
VS Necromancer player: You're forced to bring traps expecting a necro player at some point or another, depending on your level of caring. Bear trap might stop them, but concertina/poison will guarantee them gone, for example. ANd if you have none of those, you are forced to either sit and watch the body burn/waste the necro charges, or walk off in the hopes that they don't revive and you don't get shot in the back.
God forbid if you're in a scrapbeak boss and have no items at all to stop a necro from reviving
I tend to agree with you guys, there is probably a better way to balance solo's vs. teams
Infernal pact: Bloodless, Mithradist, Blazeborn, Necromancer, Resilience & Rampage(?). No bleeding, no poison, no burning, fire heals you, you can self-revive with full health and restore burnt chunks if you kill a Hunter.
if it was me I'd probably remove resurrection, even for teams, but that would change the current gameplay too much
Yep, infernal made it so much worse to deal with
honestly, I'm sure some people would be into a separate matchmaking for that, but the player base doesn't need to be any more divided imo
I already thought about what the game would be if you removed resurrection for hunters that got a headshot
Removing necromancer entirely is a weird thing
I do feel like hunt's gameplay is really conducive to people just sitting and watching bodies
I know it's a game but seeing some dude running around like rabbit a few seconds after receiving a long bullet in the head is a bit weird
I can't count how many times someone has died and it's basically just a battle of "can we take a bullet for them or push them, or is this friend just dead until the fight is over"
I play a lot of solo, or did before, but now when I do I actively avoid taking Necromancer.
We should be friends
I also tend to avoid it as a solo, other traits are probably more useful when you follow the solo route
better staying alive than trying to rez randomly
Not to disvalue you as a solo player, but I think it is impossible to balance solo vs teams in a game like Hunt, without someone walking away feeling a little screwed over.
Question is just who we want to screw over and ofc how we can do it as little as possible.
Current solo-necro is a good (bad) case of how it doesn't work well, having both parties feeling like they getting screwed over.
Yep, I almost never buy necro on a ffresh hunter. Would rather get things to make combat better (iron perks) or to be more stealthy (lightfoot, silent killer) or even things to make stamina less annoying (greyhound, determination) but those are just my picks.
Honestly, iron skills needs to remove the added benefit of increased fire-rate.
I am unsure if I agree or disagree with that! It feels very slight so I am not sure
My opinion more over is just the balancing of them in the bloodline
Sniper is the only one I understand really - because most of the time, you won't unlock any sniper variants by the time you have it since the only weapons that have snipers IIRC are Mosin and Centennial, and you'd have to use them A LOT
Devestator isn't really that good, most of the time I don't ADS with shotguns anyway and for some reason it's like in the 70s in the bloodline. Like what?
It's for slugs. Before slugs were added it was just there.
It sure is just there
Even still
Sometimes I juust stare at the bloodline and I'm like wtf how did these get here and how are they still here
Why is vigor 79
I like someone's suggestion of the pump action rifle(s), then iron devestator could get more use and they could add a "slam-fire" counter part to levering
Agreed on the trait levels for some
The funny thing is they'll probably just get rid of the separate perks for each category before they add pump-action rifles
Wouldn't be super surprised, no
So true lol
Though idk I like them being different perks
It concentrates a loadout
If it was all the same perks, I'd have no real reason to not pick up things like a Mosin, Lebel, etc every siongle time because functionally those would be miles better than, for example, the centennial/bow I use consistently
If you have iron rep+leverring, if you ask me you can almost make a case for those long ammo weapons VS, example, a winfield talon, because leverring is really great and if you miss your long ammo shots youre kinda fucked and you don't have sharpshooter or anything
You can do that already with the free respec
Yes but if you're bringing those perks into a match without expecting it, it's a waste and you're doing it wrong
I almost never have multiple of those perks at once unless I pick up the perk in the match itself
? There's already nothing stopping you from bringing a mosin every match
...Money, budget loadouts, fun, masteries, literally any other reason why I wouldn't be running constant mosin sniper/avto+dolch every single match
Like, what I'm trying to say is I see no reason for you to run multiple of those perks at once
I agree, changing the irons traits doesn't change those though
Some perks being only available past BL70+ is very stupid
I wish prestige was just a indicator of how much experience you have, kinda like in DRG, just spend some dolars and go up a prestige, done.
Maybe make it so, weapons you have expertise in are automatically unlocked on prestige, or maybe have some sort of "Unlocking Coin" everytime you prestige, so you can unlock whatever you want once
@timid nova Why ? What year is it 1850 ?
Why then the purpose of it would be lost.
A very, very small minority of people prestigie past Prestige 10, literally no reason for it.You could make the argument for "But people like to make the progress all over again" i heavily disagree with that
Hell i met people with 1k hour who only prestige once.
lol I literally only prestige for the skins, I feel the sentiment that some rework would be appreciated
In games where there is a Prestigie mechanic, they usualy don't lock ALL of the unlockable again so you can unlock them again, Titanfall you still have acess to all the skills, but not the weapons for example, or in DRG where the only thing you "lose" is money, every unlockable stays unlocked if you got it. And you see a TON of people who have the higher "prestige" in that game
Prestiging is more of a pain in the ass then a accomplishment in my opinion of course
I loved prestiging actually. Unlocking the stuff and also having the hunt dollar account reset.
If you do not like prestige that is ok. But there are some who really liked it
It's not like it is forced upon you. But there could be some more rewards 😁
I don't doubt it, i like it from time to time. But it's a pain in the ass lol, like what friend was speaking earlier, some perks should unlock WAY earlier, especially survival ones
Yep, I just think it could be better or more rewarding, I like the prestiging mechanic in DRG cause it shows how much experience on a game without needing to look into your steam accounts and see how much hours you have
Why a pain in the ass? You have really good stuff already with low level nowadays. Earlier where you even had to unlock choke bombs or before that the medpack that was a different story
I tip my hat to people who are above 20 Prestige in this game, those people are troopers
Many of the perks i heavily use for survival are locked into level 70, like vigor, Doctor and that one that heals quicker. Bullet grubber is also pretty late in BL and some other perks like that.
The only thing which is not as pleasant is when you are doing challenges and need a certain weapon or ammo to fulfill them, but you just hit prestige xD
And not having Vigor isnt that awful. You have to unlock your regenshot first anyway
Physician, Frontiersman and some other perks and cool weapons are late unlocks, basically my point is that prestiging is more punishing then rewarding in my opinion, compared to other games with prestiging mechanics, i think Hunt Showdown is the one i fell the most shit for prestiging.
I’m pretty sure they have already announced a prestige system change.
I actually heavily disagree with some sort of permenant unlock feature for guns themselves
What I would like to see is something almost blueprint like or less impactful so that like, for example, you could permenantly unlock variants
Now given that could be abused, or be stupid, but the way I see it is like
If someone wanted to unlcok the uppercut permenantly for example
They'd have to use like, 5 tokens on the caldwell, and even then, imo, you should only get it when you unlcok the standard variant, so level 30 or whatever
They announced it relatively recently along with the engine update announcement
How would that be different then not prestiging at all thought?
Also yes I believe prestige rework is coming early 2024 near the new map update laswt i recall
You'd have to prestige a lot for my theoretical system to be of any advantage, also keeping in mind that Hunt has 100 prestiges not even counting if they add more in the prestige update
For example, one prestige, is a small boon, in the caldwell conversion case. You would unlock Dumdum permenantly and thats it
However, after 4 or 5 prestiges, of continued playing and focusing on that, you would be rewarded by unlocking the Uppercut permenantly once you reach rank 30 and unlock the caldwell itself, it would be a reward for focusing on that one weapon
If unlock tokens existed, and could be used on anything, people would just do it with the mosin and dolch every single time and the weapon distribution would be all over the place
That is why I would want it to be only for variants. Because even then people would have to prestige a lot to unlock broken things
And in my opinion, again you should only be able to use weapons you've unlocked. EG Cald Conversion unlocks at bloodline 30 or whatever, even if you spent tokens to unlock all the way to uppercutp ermenantly, you still wouldnt be able to buy uppercuts until you at least unlock the base conversion.
It was yes. But they simplified it a lot.
I like to add that I viewed Prestige as starting the game new. But with everytime I have more knowledge skill and improve. You know? Playing for the first time Hunt to lvl 100 is a different story than having done so already 20 times for example
I could get behind that
If I had to be blunt I don't exactly think even what I said is a good idea. Personally I'm fine with prestige how it is, if I had to ask for anything I would just want all 3 rewards at once for every prestige lol. That is to say the 10% XP bonus, extra hunt dollar bonus, and legendary skin. But that's just me.
If I had to add some sort of "permenant unlock" feature to prestiging, that would be how I would do it.
Keep the dolches and mosins and stuff out of lower star/bloodline matches, it would be crazy if someone could prestige and buy a full mosin+dolch loadout on their first hunter with that 4k hunt dollars you get. 😂
I think people that want permenant weapon unlocks need to consider that the variant and weapon unlock system, like it or not, is a core part of hunt. A lot of times it would be no fun if you could just have every weapon you want every match, and that is a luxury that you only can get after winning a ton of matches, and also not prestiging, in my opinion.
Only permenantly unlocking variants would be a middle ground I think, but even that has its issues. For example if someone permenantly unlocked, say, all the Scottfield variants. Literally what reason would there ever be to use anything other than a Swift or a Spitfire that isn't the money cost? That's right, there really isn't any - which is why even permanently unlocking variants can have issues.
Prestiging is, innately, in most games it's in, designed to remove you from your comfort - having all your maxed out perfect weapons and loadouts taken from you - otherwise people wouldn't bother to use anything other than the statistical best variants at all times
I would be happy if it gave out free weapon skin (Of the BB Variant, not DLCs) every prestige
Or even every other prestige
Guess you got what you wanted
LMAO
@meager citrus One game i absolutely LOVE the inspect animation of is Vermintide (And by extension Darktide, but never played but i know they use the same system)
You hold down the "Inspect" key and you move your mouse to turn your gun around and fully appreciate it's beauty
They foreshadowed it...
Not saying that to be mean btw
Just clarifying
I jsut think it's funny
Because I never saw this foreshadowing
#feedback message Hunt has never been just a cowboy game. This idea needs to stop
It has been obvious for a while that they want to include other interpretations, characters and weapons in the game rather than 10 varieties of cowboy
#feedback message Hunt is set in the USA and USA was based by immigrants so why not add a bit of every culture in it ?
I was thinking, not necessarily doubting
BTW, generators deletion is kind of unfair
Yeah I honestly don't get why they deleted generators entirely
I would have rather them made electronic lights either always on or have a very high chance and give you a reason to go to the generator
The reasoning is kind of simple : No one used them intentionally and there aren't really dark maps
I think an easier fix would be this : #game-ideas message and #game-ideas message
Basically bring rotjaw electric attacks to generators if placed near water or make them uncover some loot/area or path for you
#game-ideas message This is imbalanced for any gun other than avtomat really... Avtomat is a single weapon that can't fire semi-automatically so there won't be any confusion with sounds... but when mosin is not sounding like mosin it would break balance
Drilling hatchet being $430 is hilarious, that’s actually affordable for the most part for what you get lmao
@sly fjord Please report any bugs or issues you encounter to the respective bug report channels
Oh man there are so many things in update 1.15 which ...sounds sad/bad but well we need to see how they play out.
Even the removing of generators 🥺
Plus I am gonna miss rule of 2
Anyway we will know more when it drops on Wednesday
Not Cowboy I agree. But many of the other stuff was NEVER mentioned in the beginning. Meaning the direction they took a while back. At least publicly.
What rule of 2?
Rule of 2?
Stuff in the wold doesn't disappear when it was looted twice
Blueprint Cash apparently even Ammo
That sounds bad
Oh finally
Again removing part of its identity.
So true
How dare they make a quality of life adjustment to fit a mechanic they changed years ago
Yeah mock all you want. In a few years when they lost all they were and they game became 0815. You will see that it happened with all that small changes 😉
@fathom pier Don't forget about the Centennial Trauma
Yeah it's definitely leaning into the casual department again :/
Where exactly did you see this in the updste video?
Psychoghost released video about all Patch notes
It isnt ammo? Hui then I misheard. 😌
There was a bit of an issue of team killing in randos when golden cash registers appeared
Lol wow
So that's probably why they changed it for money/envelopes/traits
They should still open the cash register imo so you know if people have been there
Agreed
@tranquil vapor I like having the lights, but the noise of the generator is a deal breaker. It’s just too loud. If it helps, imagine a power station just up the road, giving power, but off the map
Making noise was the point. So you could disturb the besieged ones
It did give some form of strategy to muffle sound
ok then make it quieter. complaining about the generators is such a nit picky minor thing to be complaining about. we're splitting hairs just discussing it
Or better yet, just don't turn on the generator. Also "having a power station just up the road" doesn't make much sense in the 1800s western setting that Hunt is in
one day we will have all ammos on all weapons lmao
They really are running out of ideas lmao, sometimes having a finite amount of something makes it better than infinite lmao
It’s ok to stop updating certain aspects of the game lmaooo
they are trying to fix it when it ain't broke
no more gens
Note on my feedback: I love running the bomblance, but imo it's too easy to kill players with a light attack using it, so i don't want to see another oneshot light machine, but a headshot or bleed kill would be a good way to balance the light attacks of both the Katana and the Bomblance.
@zinc hinge it's my team, no modificator so that works not only for 6
@amber stirrup
dave187252049
that only happens for people below 5000 hunt dollars who really need it
if you want to run your own loadout you still need money
I already think it's too easy to make money after they dropped the legendary hunter price from $333 to $200 and let me change traits as I like. This is just making it way too easy.
What's with this game adding autos and semi's? They don't suit the game no matter how you look at it and they shake up the balance a bit, it seems to me they desperately are trying to find any way to add more and it's making the game less appealing.
Wondering what other people's thoughts are on this? For me at least if I see an influx I am 100 percent dropping the game.
i mean that may be true but lots of players have infinite money and maxed hunters anyways. I think its just to close the gap between new players and those people
they are increasing melee costs
There would be no reason to buy it anyway when every hunter now will already have it included. To make it clear, I think it's great to include a melee tool and first aid kit and a couple consumables on every hunter. It's now that they are adding traits as well and even better weapons where I think they are going too far. The next patch they may as well just put the new dolch variants on free hunters.
its like 200$ in weapons at most
you do realize legendary hunters come with nothing... also the premade hunters you could buy have been terrible for so long. Also better weapons? they could come with like anything before. and for the traits i was already just buying hunters and re rolling untill i had necro plus iron sharpshooter.
now if only they'd add money wipes to the game
tri monthly money wipes would be crazy
the casual playerbase would suffer
id probably uninstall
They wouldn't. It'd bring the hardcore playerbase down to the level of having to actually worry about money if they lose too much
clearly you've never played tarkov
Only hardcore players invalidate the price balancing in the game
1 week in all the tryhards are loaded and the casuals are left with nothing
if you have no wipes the casuals have time to build up money as well as the hardcore players
no it wouldnt, it would just be fun to get money again for like the first couple days then i wouldnt have to worry again until next wipe
^
the reason hardcore players have absurd amounts of money is because theyre constantly gaining money
whether they have 1000 in the bank or 10000000, as long as theyre increasing in money they can run whatever they want
people complain about having no money all the time that have maybe built up an amount they are proud of would have it stripped from them
and then the would struggle every single wipe
Like the most out of touch with hunt idea ever
For most of the time I played legendary hunters were $333 and traits couldn't be reshuffled. Yet that didn't stop anyone from buying them. I think now at $200 and respecing is good enough of a deal. The appeal of tier 2 and tier 3 hunters is they might have equipment or traits that your bloodline hadn't yet unlocked. And again, I'm fine with them giving all of these hunters the essentials. It's just having free hunters with doctor and fanning now which I think is being too absurd. Money and wins should be meaningful and they will not be with this patch.
They can get free, more reasonable "money wipes" if they just make prestige more appealing
Not like it matters, since all weapons are gonna be unlocked lv1 anyway
In theory the matchingmaking system should keep 5-6 star players out of the new player maps anyway.
The game should be balanced even if every player in the lobby has a level 50 hunter
The idea that players having a few good traits breaks the game is frankly fucking ridiculous lol
Even during peak death cheat the game was... Fine?
I have 25+ level 50 hunters hoarded who are just there as dolch/nitro/mosin storage, I could play maxed hunters for a week straight, starting with one or two traits doesn't hurt anything.
Does it shift the power curve a bit? Sure. Was the power curve in some perfect spot before? Meh probably not?
Traits don't break the game since being level 50 with 15 traits doesn't change that half the things in the game one hit kill you at full health. It is making hunt dollars no longer meaningful that I'm complaining about
Hunt dollars are already not meaningful, firstly
Secondly making players more likely to hire prebuilt hunters probably encourages spending money.
Even if the gear is discounted, chances are you're not actually gonna use that new army swift or those decoy fuses
Discounted tier 2 and tier 3 is fine, the issue is that what at the current time is a tier 2 or tier 3 hunter is now a free hunter in the next patch.
For people who are broke sure
Iirc hunt dollars were never really much of anything other than an annoyance. You can literally run cheap ass loadouts for god knows how long, rack up 100k hunt dollars and then start using more "meta weapons"
^So then why not let people continue doing that. You already get good stuff like duel wield pistols on free hunters, winfields, and romeros.
If you're consistently running under 5k hunt bux you're doing something horrendously wrong and I don't really feel the need to punish you further than you punish yourself LOL
Sorry but, I don't really see an issue with this?
Actually I never understood why people buy scofield pistols and romeros when you can take it off the free hunter and put it on who you like later
Just take out hunt dollars all together then and make everything free
It would be simpler
and I could use cosmetics on those weapons
I mean yeah the economy is broken and has always been broken
Hunt dollars are only in place because Crytek still wants an in-game currency that is earned when winning
It probably doesn't make sense for it to exist if not for the fact that the gun balance won't ever be good enough to justify some of the weapons being clearly worse than others
It's not a reward to win a bounty if I lose access to all those free hunters with fanning, ammo boxes, and other good loot.
Yeah well if you're sitting on a decent pile of money, it's not really an issue anymore. You can still run cheap loadouts to rack up money, the only difference is it's slower and you're getting a heavier penalty when dying
If you'd rather stay under 5k and be a Hunt Showdown welfare queen I think you could probably do that?
Even if you wanna do that, any time you win a game and go over 5k you can spend that money to buy fancy shit and drop back below the 5k threshold
just because one screenshot shows them having fanning doesnt mean every one will
You still get to spend your $1200 hunt dollars from winning on a dolch and stay below 5k
I'm not going to pick up bounties anymore. I'm going to attack everyone on the map and then click leave game when I had enough lol, I don't need money. The free hunters will have almost everything.
if you want to run expensive (meta) loadouts for any extended period of time you need to win
most people don't want to be stuck with a sparks, conversion pistol, and no vitality shots until the end of time
There's no drawback to winning cause you can just spend whatever you earn on fancy crap
Hunt is just making the game more beginner friendly, I don't see much of an issue with this
You still wanna win because you still wanna have cash to throw around
If you want to stay under 5k and recruit 2000 free hunters then go ahead
I don't think I'm a great player but I never had any issue buying things like dolch and nitro
especially with mr chary throwing money at me
if you run them more than once in a blue moon you will
like how bad do you have to be to not afford a vitality shot after the free hunter gave you weapons?
I don't think anything will have an issue with this if you're sitting on bags of gold
If you're careless with spending money, it can happen dude
I've got a friend who ran Mosin dolch every round until he's under 100 dollars
Early in the game when I was new, sure, but the game already allowed me to come back from that quickly with free hunter contraband, quick play wins, money from picking up clues
It used to be way harder than it is this current patch before getting into these changes.
mr chary throwing $850 at me helped a lot
Mr chary is dead
If you have 4,999 hunt dollars, buy a free hunter, win a match and gain 1,000 hunt dollars, you now have 1,000 hunt dollars you can spend on whatever you want and then continue to buy free hunters.
There's no drawback to winning as long as you spend what you earn.
Why wouldn't you want to win for that 1,000 hunt bux
you can also just buy stuff that is better than a free hunter
Consumables are also a maaaassive money sink in Hunt, probably the easiest way to go broke outside of just buying $900 worth of guns every match or whatever
Free hunters aren't gonna have your consumables loadout
It showed strong stamina shots on free hunters in the screenshot. Ordinarily they only come with weak ones which I'm fine with
People get the free hunter because it's well, free. And the guns they come with aren't half bad half the time + you can just slap meta weapons onto the free hunter and call it a day
Yes, you can already take guns off a free hunter and put it on a better hunter, or take the free hunter and put better guns on them
You already have a lot to work with
So you want hunt dollars to be harder to earn so you can have more stuff to stress over?
It's actually fun working for something and achieving something
More stress can be fun for sure
It's totally reasonable to want the economy to matter
I don't like how I have half a million hunt dollars when I'm not even that good lol.
It just already doesn't matter so it's hard to get that worried about it mattering less
That's what tends to happen when you win more than you lose. Profit gain
Ehhhh you can win like 25-30% of the time and go positive
well you probably dont run expensive loadouts
or play relatively safe
If you want the economy to matter, the easiest way is, increase price of all weapons + make hunt dollars harder to earn
and priotize bounty over pvp
He already said he values pvp over bounty?
And u don't need to win every game to get good money
Just win more than you lose
Loadouts don't really matter if you profit 1k and only spend 500 dollars
that's why I said win more than you lose
You have to be very bad or very careless to consistently go negative in this game.
Again unless you're buying top tier guns (which apparently aren't helping you win) or a full expensive consume loadout every single game you can lose the majority of the time and still go positive
A match with me and my buddies where we get 2 bounties = 800 dollars already
Mid tier loadout in Hunt are very competitive in the vast majority of situations
And the price delta is huge compared to meta stuff
getting second bounty when server is dead = prioritizing bounty over pvp
I meant getting 1 bounty mb
So 1 banish, 2 tokens and extraction
That's grand slam
2nd bounty or big vs small bounty is a misconception. Most of the profit is from clues, extraction time, getting out with even one, mr chary stuff
I mean big vs small bounty matters quite a lot
Other factors matter too for sure but winning occasionally makes a big difference lol
It's funny when I have teammates complain that we're in the small bounty and most of the time both bounties fight each other anyway or it only made $50 difference
and then mr chary gives $500 for the xp
Dark Tribute isn't guaranteed to give money every time sadly
Usually it only gives me 200-450
I like the 2 trait point bonus more anyway
And Mr chary is dead
Fair fair, I can get iron sharpshooter or 2 1 trait point traits
But if I have 50 hunters in the roster which is a thing now since they keep increasing the limit, that adds up
Maybe I just know a lot of tricks these new players don't know that can't keep their hunt dollar amount above 5k
TFW your 40 nitro storage mules all get +2 trait points
Or the players that aren't new but are still shit don't bother to learn
Then they don't deserve a win and to use good equipment lol
I've got a hunter with over 150 trait points
As a prestigin hunter I am happy that my life has infact gotten easier
Personally there's no way I'm buying hunters with gear already on them that I'm just gonna trash
Over the newly discounted legendary hunters
Didn't they make the legendary hunter traits more valuable now too?
Yup
So traits like frontiersmen will be more common
7 trait point minimum
Gwad damn
If they kept the legendary hunters as they are the discounted hunters would be competitive even if something in their loadout would be sold.
They made both far more appealing as well, basically everything is a better value, free hunters, non free hunters that you see, legendaries
More or less yeah. I don't think you're wrong to be concerned about this but also I think all of these systems (recruiting hunters, legendary hunters trait lottery, the economy as a whole) have been sort of broken and unbalanced forever
And while yeah this is a universal power increase to basically all players all the time
so they make it more unbalanced?
It's better than the game being full of vestigial nonsense from 2018
The actual power of players in matches won't be unbalanced, which is what I feel matters most. Does the game feel fair to play when you're in a match?
Dang way to segue into a way less interesting topic lol
well its a problem with balancing. and its true
We have burns and traps to counter taht
Necro for solos isn't really broken lmfak
Necro MMR bagging is at least a very uncommon issue on console
Seriously, i think it’s blown out of proportion tbh
necro in solo actually works for me once in a while, in a trio I just die again when I stand up
You kinda have to remember solos have disadvantages too
reinforces my point
Sure but it's like the single most overdiscussed issue in this game. just funny to go from a brand new topic back to solo necro lul
its for sandbagging mmr..
haha
Brand new shit? Nah solo necro lul
i guess you're unawre?
Then all the devs have to do is, if you kill a solo more than once, you don't gain MMR but the solo doesn't lose MMR
Simple fix
Everyone is happy now
I suggested they make necro a burn trait but they thumbs downed me
Alright let’s pivot over to the custom ammo discussion, it’s clear now that the variant bloat and powercreep is getting much MUCH more prevalent
So I guess the discussion is powercreep
Crytek UNIRONICALLY running out of ideas
Imagine adding a hammer (who asked)
Imagine adding a marksmen to a SLUG SHOTGUN
And then one patch later adding a universally better alternative in the baseball bat lol
I cannot believe i can unironically hit someone with dragons breath with a marksmen scope
I think they did buff the hammer where a light attack kills though if I remember correctly
motherfuckin uhhhhh dolch buffs anybody? Who asked for dolch buffs? Better dolch dual wield spread guys
They even used the pax buntline idea BUT then added a deadeye to a dolch…
Like a fucking scope
To a semi auto pistol
They had the pax buntline specifically to do this
Dolch dumdum wow dolch wasn't good needed buffs mmmhm
Dolch FMJ
like what the fuck guys
That was literally a meme
Someone literally said this months ago
I like dolch precision, but it doesn't fit the time period of late 1900's.
Give me a sec I think I can find it
A Glock is more fitting to late 1900s
Hear me out guys... Lemat with long ammo. Nobody will use it and we'll never justify it existing but we'll add it to the game because C O N T E N T™
@vital fractal I agree with you 100%
That’s the thing, the LeFat is still at least kinda cool and attempts to be something niche
Dolch Deadeye
Someone on the dev team is just a Han Solo Simp
duel wield dolch deadeye makes total sense
They had 2 perfect candidates for deadeye single slot
- Pax
- Sparks pistol
The community at least agreed on Pax with deadeye
What do they do?
Give it to a spam pistol known for a lack of sway control and extremely high cost, and special ammo
I saw the katana I knew it was just fucking over lol
Imagine doing an update where you consolidate weird one-off traits like the iron traits, assailant, tomahawk, dewclaw, and hundred hands to eliminate bloat
THEN IN THE SAME PATCH add a one off meme trait for the katana for absolutely no reason
Game needs more traits that only apply to one weapon
Again it just doesn't fit the atmosphere, it's not Japan, it's Lousiana
It’s so fucking over, the katana is obviously an even better melee addition
Can't just build that feature into the weapon
We had everything
We had every melee covered essentially
With the recent updates it feels like they are trying to add everything into hunt to broaden its appeal
katana meme trait
Doesn't let me deflect bullets
Tfw
What are you DOING crytek please you had one job
Crytek is having a mental episode rn and it’s showing
And by mental episode I specifically mean whoever is making these decisions needs some antipsychotics, maybe some lithium too
Unironically yeah they're just adding every bad idea people have been begging for since the games release
Martini HV is coming soon
I am waiting for sparks Dum Dum
Mods pin this post
Can we have a new channel
Where its guesses
And if someone gets it right, they get like
Blood bonds or something
Some of it is cool but other stuff will definitely catch up to them
Hunt showdown gamba thread
It needs like 5 bullet mag now or something
Can we acknowledge centennial HV ammo as well?
What's the mv on that meant to be?
Like 900? Lol
800 I heard
From a year ago
Which is crazy but probably still balanced in the grand scheme of things
Whoops
Too much extra info
Literally a year ago
There’s more
It was a FUCKING MEME
PEOPLE JOKED ABOUT IT
And now it’s here
Is the katana 1 shot light attack
You're also going to see the dolch used a lot more with money no longer being a barrier at all.
Do you see the year hunt released? 2018, the Dolch FMJ has been travel for 5 years to get here- and now it’s here
Where does this come from
As far as I know there's no real money changes, and the dolch only got like a -100 cost right?
Players at bl100 are supposed to get more money from levels, and levels are supposed to require less XP, plus XP from most sources has gone up
But that's all I'm aware of
I guess the cost of legendary hunters is being halved as well
money isnt meaningful now is what im saying. you are guranteed what 7 trait points with the update? you wont always have doctor necro
what about it
so when im level 100 and rank up i get more than 200 bucks
is that what ur saying
sweet
they should also change mr cherry giving me 500 xp when im level 100
I'd suggest a straight pull bolt rifle but it would probably overshadow the current bolt actions
We're out of ideas so let's add a fictional version of the Howell Conversion Automatic
Spitzer levels of mv for cheap seems kinda wacky
800m/s velocity on a centi
On a gun with a relatively high rate of fire, a sniper variant and tons of follow-up shots
We turning the centi into a diet lebel next update gentlemen
At least the cinematic is cool
medium ammo damage though so... aim for headshots.
but yeah cent sniper buff for shizzle
So they deleting Springfield then? 😆
Very excited for pax buntline hv tbh
I think that thing is gonna COOK, its not gonna be uppercut but it will probably be a slightly cheaper, more stylish, medium ammo version of it
FMJ even
Depending on how much MV the HV gives and the Buntline itself gives
sadly not much higher headshot range
the gun itself is 410 m/s
so hv will bring it pretty high
Just got into a match with 6* teams and 4* teams
My god, Crytek stop feeding the whales- they need a reason to go outside, touch grass, maybe even socialize out side of a digital setting- give them a reason to
It will still be comparatively useful; and I think that’s a niche they can put the Pax into
The like, baby uppercut
I was originally talking about the changes to free hunter, putting top tier traits and equipment on free hunters. The conversation then veered off. But I still disagree with what they are planning.
The gun will (and does) definitely still suffer from being medium ammo though
Drop off be damned
I feel like the reason we’ve been playing variant: showdown as of late isn’t because of lack of ideas, there are a metric fuck ton of interesting guns and weapon concepts in and around hunts time period. I would wager it’s because of this new ham-fisted event model where events are crammed out one week after the other that we’re getting such little new ideas or just fucking bizarre editions (katana)
Not that hunt even need stay to guns that are specific to 1895 or earlier, just so long as they are plausible to have been made earlier than they were in real life and fit the games aesthetic
The Alamo is a great example
The pressure to add a lot of shit probably does contribute to it
Imo hunt is a game that benefits most from refinement of its core loop rather than addition of new crap, which often does the exact opposite and muddies the experience
It would be nice for an update to be entirely full of bug fixes, game balance that shakes up the meta and fixing the server + cheater issues.
I'm looking at you, LeaseWeb. (And Easy Anti Cheat)
@tranquil vapor I couldn't agree more. Removing the generators makes no sense and detracts from tactical play. I also don't understand why Lightfoot had to have it's silent single jump removed.
guess they did not intend for lightfoot to be used as a silent movement method
or changed their mind about that
movement as opposed to just clearing obstacles. With some practice and in favorable object layouts you could cross entire rooms or great distances without a single sound cue
shame. It was a neat and skillful mechanic
Pretty good change tbh. It's just goofy to see players bunny hopping to not have people hear them.
fair
And while I understand its tactical use to hop over trip mines and such like that, it does make the trait poacher more valuable
If you made consecutive jumps it would make a normal jump grunting noise.
there was a workaround though, you just had to be sprinting mid air and crouch upon landing
Yes but that doesnt really stop players from b hopping when given the oppurtunity.
hell there's even a video how to get around current lightfoot nerfs
Poacher is being made obsolete by them changing the nature of the game in general. No need to nerf a separate trait to strengthen another.
This type of nerfing to strengthen a different trait is good balance.
They had implemented a penalty for bunny-hopping before but I guess it got removed. There was awhile where jumping too often would shorten your jumps & your movement speed temporarily.
No that hasnt been removed, it's still in just like crouch spam
Im just saying that all the player has to do is wait a sec to do another silent bhop
But then they should fix that... that you can't sprint mid-air.
its prob A. a deep engine thing that prevents them from doing that or the more likely answer B. It would not feel as smooth if it just interrupted your sprint the moment you start a jump
Jumping in general is already pretty unbalanced because of how much air control you have and how much hitbox manipulation you can do.
It's a relatively low skill way to become much more effective in combat. I'm not sure Lightfoot making jump peeks even lower risk is really good for the game
As for generators... Nobody uses them for tactical anything just like nobody uses decoys to trick people lol
This isn't a roleplaying simulator let's be realistic about things
I don't think removing generators is great but it's not gonna cheapen the game. If anything it will increase the depth of the game because people will be more likely to shoot out lights
Where as right now nobody wants generators on cause they're loud as shit and distracting no matter what position you're in
Yeah, I think shooting while jumping should also apply "hit punch". I hate that close engagements are now filled with bunny-hopping... It's an annoying almost necessity.
Sorry I misunderstood your original meaning of mid-air sprint to mean that players could start to gain momentum (entering sprinting) when jumping from a static position or walk tempo. A little bit of inertia being added to movement would be nice I think but as you said it's probably an engine issue.
Then just increase the delay between silent jumps or add heavy breathing after multiple jumps or have jumping cost some sort of stamina - it could even have it's own meter if need be.
Thanks for the feedback & discussion on the Lightfoot nerf. It's good to hear perspectives.
For sure!
@hybrid forum soon uppermat will be less expensive and it will have higher velocity +better shotgun
I know, but the shotgun part doesn't really matter since people use slugs
I think after update uppermat can be interesting gun, but we will see
Great 1.15 update! The perks and guns? WOOOOW... But we want to talk about the elephant in the room... Where is the new map?
No new map thought. Just condition
Maybe we should talk about the server desync causing unplayable matches 🙂
Bayou during winter would be fun, since IIRC all the maps are in different seasons
Blame, I am with you! It would be so cool to play during winter!
So, I reccomended balancing the price of the knives instead of making the normal knife and punch dagger more expensive, adding lancaster pistol made in 1860, adding a dead eye mosin variant (psu) scope, and full stock/extended barrel dolch, and fire ammo for dolch. What are your guys options?
They are about to put a melee tool on every hunter including free ones going forward so if they charged $1,000 for a knife you'll still see it on people without a problem. Money is a joke in the game.
Maybe not on legendary hunters, but on free hunters going by the screenshots, you absolutely can have more than 7 trait points since many of them showed fanning and doctor plus an additional trait. Overpowered for free hunters.
@amber stirrup I'm in peculiar situation where I won't be getting those freebies and I only play legendarys
How is a free hunter having 2 good traits overpowered
I don't want to feel shafted by using a knuckle knife instead of a heavy knife
Wym
They are making the knuckle knife 50 and heavy knife 30 in the next update
Logically speaking it doesn't make sense dor a large bowie knife to cost nearly twice as less than a knuckle knife and i hate that they are doing it just. Because people don't use the heavy knife as much as the other 2
@blissful jackal
I mean the knuckle knife is clearly superior so it should be reflected in price
It's 50 bucks brah it ain't gonna kill ya is it
These price changes make me chuckle, like a $20 increase on the bar, sure $40 is gonna make people think twice about taking it now.. balancing with price is lazy.
They are reduced legendary hunters to 100 bucks so you will be able to afford the difference in price
It's not gonna kill me but it's annoying to think that this scrap metal knife cost double the price of a bowie knife just because people won't use the bowie
It's not about what it's made of it's about how good the weapons are in use
They aren't balancing the cost on what material the items are compromised of 😂
That's the problem, at some point logic has to come into play and establish things into reality or it will be silly
Well the reality is the knuckle knife is the melee goat so more expensive is what it deserves to be
If you want to argue about realism and logic the knuckle knife has a lot of craftsmanship and labor put into making it. Boom. Worth more money
Something is very wrong if the knuckle knife is double the heavy knife cost
And it looks like this
100 Hunt Dollar for Legendary is way to cheap!
The knuckle knife is literally a old fashion hand drill that was bent to look like this
Probably spent that metal worker 2 hours of labor to bend that and put handle on that knuckle knife. That's 2 hours of labor you got to pay for
See how stupid this whole conversation is
@paper whale not anymore, they buffed the free character to have all the essentials as well as corresponding perks
As compared to 200
But they also throwing away now the free hunters (we'll at least if you're under 20k)
Honestly why should Legendary Hunters cost anything if you're poor? They should just be free because their traits are random & you'll loose ability points to respec and you will be paying full price for a custom loadouts.
Ok so by your logic, the guns with skins on them. should they cost more because of the paint they put on them?
And give them two perks!
@signal mural they are making it so that legendary hunters now have a minimum perk requirement so you can make the hunter you want after getting them.
If you are poor just take the free Hunter. They were the true legendary hunter anyway 😂
