I had a feeling this one would be a mixed bag. Im a solo so i specifically would gain more from this one but i feel this would quicken the pace of engagements and reduce camping. The pen loss is a pretty big setback too and it'd be a good alternative for the ever dominant FMJ

@valid pecan i like your idea, but have you actually ever been shot by fire ammo? Its pretty scary and causes some panic. Id say its not completely useless, but the burn dead hunter function could be applied to shotguns since its a wider spread and would make more sense
I have been shot by it plenty and ill take fire over poison or bleed any day
Fire isnt dangerous in the now, when it matters. At range? Cover and you dont lose a healthbar.
Up close? Well, either it doesnt matter cus most guns are a 2hit kill. Or when it does, well youre already at sub 50 health so the fire can rage on for 100hp before youre in any danger of it killing you there. And that is worst case scenario.
That just ... doesnt really happen in my experience.
It genuinly feels pointless to me rn. I'll take base ammo over it because even compact pen values are more valuable to me than the off chance that incen rounds might chip away a 25hp chunk from someone.
Its pretty good on borhiem for quick barrel explosions, which is pretty useful
Well yeah but its the only use it has imo.
And the bornheim isnt exactly in the best of spots, with its low ammo capacity and a desperate need for BG if you're not taking 2 compact ammo weapons with thesame special ammo.
I just think, if you're gonna have it and there are already fire mechanics in the game, why not extend them to their logical next step?
Youre on fire, it would seem only logical to me that being shot to down you would not put out the fire.

@loud nebula the quest/summons don't specify to use incendiary. Same with bleed and poison. You can always use throwables to make the hunter bleed/burn/poisoned

Not to my knowlege, because its not really an exploit.
The devs made it so even single shots have random deviation and you always loose 3 rounds even if you cancel shooting on purpose.
So all you do is loose 3 bullets, to fire a single inaccurate bullet. They are literally gimping themselves...
Throwables have equal chance of poisoning/burning/bleeding a hunter, but bullets do not.
Balancing wise it is better that you can immediatly set hunters on fire since that is damage you can't just heal away.
Poison is very easy to counter and bleed somewhat easy with bloodless.
But even with salveskin you loose health you can heal when you start burning after you take the first hit
dragon’s breath already does that and the range is kind of ridiculous on that thing. setting hunter’s on fire with a single bullet would be stupidly OP. it’s already easy enough to do with the bornheim.
The only issue I see is that most weapons kill with the second hit instead of setting the hunter on fire
@vivid rune What point would chain ammo serve? No point in adding ammo for the sake of it. It needs to have an identity, something to set it appart
I guess it might shoot out a snake-like projectile and inflict bleeding on hit.
It might be more effective than flachette close range, but less effective at longer ranges.

Giving everything fmj seems pointless, guns should be generally rebalanced to make FMJ or other ammos a harder choice
Like a nagant being the only compact with FMJ would be interesting because it is arguably the worst pistol by default
This would make people choose between the incredible potency of FMJ but a worse gun or leaving FMJ but having superior weaponry
Similar to Martini/Sparks, the Scottfield/Pax are very close to each other in terms of performance. I could see buffing the Pax with better base velocity as a solution, and giving it HV instead of FMJ would help carve out more of a ranged niche than the wallbang/high RoF that the spitfire variant offers
Along with the perennial suggestions of stock and longer barrel variants for the Pax
Only concern then would be if Vetterli with more HV reserves is busted, which I don't think it would be but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I tried it last night I put sticky bombs around the boat extract, tried triggering with explosive ammo did not work….
may be a bug, cause the hive bomb one still works. + Throwables don't bob in the water if they're thrown into water, they just vanish, except for the ones that just "defuse" and can still be detonated by external means.
Does it not work with standard dynamite or bundles?

If there's one thing a game should focus on last it's representation. Especially when someone suggests replacing a character that was already there to be black. Just add new ones like you guys have said.

I just think it’d be good to show off more of a range of Hunters in the marketing. We got whites, Asians, blacks, Tier 1s, Tier 2s, Tier 3s, eyepatches, mountain beards, coats, cloaks, crossbows, bomb-lances—
It’d be a relatively simple change that could offer a greater representation of what the game has to offer, and make some sort of interesting artistic statement at the same time, hence my initial idea of the black woman paired with a more Confederate-coded man.
Crytek could make a new splash screen, or change the existing one; whichever’s easier on their art department.
Would it be more palatable to make a new screen that would then replace the current one, than it would be to modify the current one?
You could even just have several splash screens that cycle each time the game is opened, its not necessary to replace the one with the two hunters facing the camera

I dunno, I just thought it would be a nice, relatively easy change Crytek could make.
There is virtually no marketing for this game. Though if there were, I'm not sure I'd buy it. Western with supernatural doesn't seem to get any consumer interest. To be honest, as much as I like Red Dead Redemption 2, it's rare for me to like Westerns in games. I look at Weird West having the same theme but also being niche.
I only found Hunt during steam sales while doing a heavy search for any active multiplayer games in the Top 50 most played. Other extraction loot based games also required searching.
The only reason I stuck with Hunt during the 1,000 hours of playing is because of it's unique gameplay of stealthy PVP and blended PVE. Very few multiplayer games have a silent killer. Even in Battlefield where you can snipe from a distance, you're marked brightly.
Though I have been suggesting more tracking and stalking skills, I think it would only make the game less "hardcore" and diminish what makes Hunt special.

You’re definitely right, and I agree that the marketing sucks.
Personally I think I’ve been interested in Hunt, honestly, because it doesn’t (or didnt) do a lot of the things that interest current consumer-gamers that I don’t find appealing and that seem to become ubiquitous across the game market. The artists came up with great realistic, consistent characters and settings for an era right at the end of the Gilded Age USA, and before the Progressive Era (lots of change and uncertainty, doomsday Christian cults, advances in natural science)…and combined it with a lot of HP Lovecraft/Southern Gothic styled horror ideas, set in the extremely creepy, lonely, isolated swamps of the deep southern USA. It’s great because it isn’t really Wild West, or Weird West, even though superficially some of those elements are there (Cattle Hats! Revolvers! Lever guns!) but I think most players “get” those elements, and sort of focus on and never move past them. And since it’s easy to understand, that’s what’s shared most. Streamers and E-thletes have also kind of contributed to this weird way of consuming media that’s very focused on game mechanics, logistics, and treats the artistic parts of games as meaningless superficial dressing.
The PVP/PVE type really supports all the positive stuff that I mentioned..It seems well thought out! And it’s entertaining (in a scary way).
It still has a lot of potential to be a great classic, if Crytek supports it. Or, it could slowly drift away from what’s it’s supposed to be, propelled by gamers wanting it to be something else.
Referring to Weird West, I mean the game. It's a game made by former Dishonored developers that combined the Wild West with the supernatural. Immediately, I thought of Hunt Showdown. But it's only hit niche popularity, almost no one knows about it similarly to how Hunt started out. It took two years for Hunt to hit the numbers of 20k concurrent steam players. So even with marketing I doubt it would substantially increase sales because consumers aren't that driven for these two blended themes.
Can this game become a classic? Who knows, maybe the popularity of Warzone's DMZ will eventually spill into Hunt. Though the opposite has happened during release. One thing though, Hunt's gameplay mechanics is very simplistic. There are no ultimates or abilities to create new plays. It's strategies are mostly camping and repositioning.
I want it to evolve but it would also take away what makes this game so pleasant. I think of CS:GO. It's very popular and it's shooting mechanics is also basic. Yet it's popularity has lasted decades, if you count the older games. People may just be satisfied with the simple.
Ok, got it, I thought you’re talking about the genre it’s named after. Looking at Wild West now, the stylistic tone still seems much different than Hunt.
I actually DO wish the gameplay would get more complicated, with more tools and options available to the player, and maybe put a little more emphasis on the strategy side, not just run n gun
The reason I stick with this game is because I think there's huge potential for improvements. But I'm not sure where those improvements should be. Custom Ammo was a good addition. But they need more than that.
The stalker beetle needs to be beefed up. It's currently a useless tool. I don't see many opposing teams using it. Maybe it could use an auto follow AI command, that pings every 10 seconds so the player can set it and forget it.
Before the stalker beetle was created, I thought there would be more Dark Sight powers. This include interaction with objects and having different sight tracking skills. A less efficient bounty sight that doesn't require the bounty. Similar to poison sight but even less useful. A barebones version.
To combat against so many new visual Dark Sights, I think they have to create a counter to it as well. Decoy Bounty Sight flagging.
Yeah, Dark Sight powers would be great…maybe just repairs though? I would like more control over what you load out with, and how you customize weapons…maybe move to a weight point system instead of slots
I think a weapon customisation system would be great, it would even allow for some skins to be "modulable" like for the Vetterli Deadeye skins, you'd only take off the scope and the skin stays on it
Im not too keen on the weight system because it adds maybe too much complexity to the inventors management, but changing how you equip stuff would be interesting as well

especially necessarily quick actions like looting
I think the weight system ( or something better) fixes some things I wish were different…like how a dynamite bundle is 3 sticks of dynamite, but occupies the same slot as a single stick
When I started playing Hunt, I really hated how we couldn't customize our weapons like CoD. I'm used to it now, but back then I really wished we could add or remove different scopes, silencers, stock, etc
Call of Duty has the BEST weapon progression system.
Yeah…I would not mind making your own custom weapons, or “paying” a gunsmith in game to make one, etc. even stuff like cutting down wicks on dynamite, or being able to build firebombs from found materials might be cool
to be fair, a silenced mosin sniper would be pretty overpowered.

The whole reason why people love hunt, is because it doesnt look anything like the other games. The last thing we need is a bunch of weapon attachments so that people can play dress up with their guns as if they were barbie dolls.

Laddersmiths idea of a large poison bomb has merit, but I'd go a step further and just make the standard poison bomb the equivalent of a large dynamite bundle. Right now the poison bomb is the weakest consumable

Its just a long lasting mix between firebomb (people //mostly low stars// are scared to go through) and chokebombs, giving them an annoying effect

Regular firebombs are dirt cheap too but at least it does more than poison in pvp. What other throwable is completely nullified by a shot.
Firebombs apply long term pressure but dont do too much in the moment
It takes away max hp so his battle with you isnt very affected by it in such close engagements
Poison however hurts their hearing and does actual damage of use to you (not enough, but still)
Also i like it for its pve value with the bosses
Its much easier and safer to stunlock them into that than fire
Poison bomb PVE value against an unexpected horde is good too, even if it’s less important…still quiet, and long lasting

The thing is that there is so much throwables bloat that its a hard choice with 4 slots
My default is 2 healing shots, a stam on most hunters cus most dont have traits, and then i have one spot left for ... ALL the other shit
I almost never bring throwables, its always shots and then i search for lunchboxes, at which point i use the shots
But out of all the choices the poison bomb is easily the most garbage out of all of them. Even your unexpected horse gets demolished easier by fire because it covers more ground

Martini is a Riposte, not a bayonet. @rustic sand As you already know a centered crosshair has been requested many times, but the devs have stated that implementing that option would require an extensive rework of the game since the decision was made very early on.

Im not talking about the pistol. Im saying you can not make the Springfield even smaller than 2 slots. Cause thats a compact variant. The spark pistol is 1 slot because thats the smallest a sparks can be.
Just make a wheel/flint-lock style pistol. That would be doable

Having a lowered crosshair vs a centered one comes with pros and cons. Lowere crosshair leads to your gun occupying less space of your screen and also raises your field of view so you can better see what's happening in places above you.
Centered is what most shooters use, but lowered is not that uncommon, Halo for example has used lowered crosshair for many years.
yeah but halo used lowered crosshair for performance purposes so you don't have to texture a hand shooting etc...
It is "stylistic" as in, intentionally designed to be a lowered crosshair. Extensive work would have to be done because of the decision to make a lowered crosshair

and the origin story around the lowered crossair in this game is so dark i thinks it's a bit of cap
It was part of the early "design" direction the game took. There's specific technical reasons due to how your crosshair and POV meet. This met the POV direction they wanted to take

It keeps the guns from covering half of your screen, so you can actually see things.

IMHO I would like the crosshairs raised to the top of the screen so I can focus more on how my charms jangle on the weapon

I have a little over 3000 hours in hunt. I can say with confidence that the trade mechanic is one of the absolute worst things that I have had to deal with in any video game, ever. I played before the trade update and had NO memorable memories of "shooting someone and not hitting them because I was already dead".
Think about how many people got pissed off that they were "shooting someone and the bullet didnt count because they were already dead". (probably the result of their ping, but that's besides the point).
NOW think about the hundreds/thousands of people are trading out with the last player in the server, trading out with some guy who's been dead for seconds and literally on the floor, etc etc. It would be insane to think that more anger has been caused by the first option- it's clearly a QOL downgrade. It absolutely blows my mind how long this mechanic has been in place.
I actually prefers trade windows. Not having them makes me paranoid that the game isn't working because I know I should have gotten a hitmarker
Full disclosure, I play in teams so we don't see the downside quite as often. I don't know how big the windows is supposed to be tbh

I think that's a bit of a loaded argument. Different people post at different times leading to perceived biases. I've seen reddit/discord posts about how toxic the discord/reddit is, there's posts days apart about how the community is too harsh on/forgiving of Crytek; time is a circle, acknowledge that hyperbole is obnoxious and can be ignored.

I'm curious how we come to the conclusion the trait cost should be raised, and solo 5 stars should match against teams of 3 5 stars?
I wish there was a "players without patience" queue, so I could just turn my brain off and play more fun, careless matches without getting annoyed (no, quickplay isn't a good version of this; I still wanna play with friends).
Honestly wondering if a lot of current Hunt players actually just want a Wild West themed PVP game with mostly the same mechanics, except no revives, no traits to worry about,just jump back into a fresh game ASAP

I think the reason why people gravitate to that aspect of the Gilded Age (yes, there was still a tiny bit of the West still around, hell some of the states weren't admitted till 1914), is cause of the lack of alternatives for a "Wild West" game, with no studios attempting to use that era as a setpiece for a multiplayer PvP game, so they use Hunt as a surrogate. There's Red Dead Online, but that's a 3rd person and Rockstar abandoned it and Fistful of Frags, but that game has quite a bit of jank that may throw some people off.
Fix the god damn flashbomb in this game, I've already sent this complaint before. It's too OP, I get flashed by it without even looking at it at all, it's literally turned with my back to it and I still somehow get completely flashed, have you never seen any other game logic where the flash doesn't affect you or VERY minimal blindness that disappears after half a second?? Sure, there are flashbangs who are loud and make you dizzy but this isn't the same thing, not at all, and it's not supposed to blind me if that's the case, it should be disabling my hearing for a few seconds with strong tinnitus, thats all! Either way, fix that god damn flashbang so it doesn't blind you when you are turned with your back to it!!! Not to mention the sound is all wrong too! It sounds like a choke bomb when the enemy are throwing it, which confuses me so much!

I have a series of ideas that I will be compiling together soon for what I believe to be a severely overlooked, and under-utilized feature of the game. The whole general purpose of these ideas, that I will be dove tailing off each other, is to push forward a playstyle centered around melee combat and utility. Currently melee combat tends to be cavalierious and for memes or to just progress onto something better such as the combat axe to throwing hatchets. I'm sure ideas have floated about but melee combat and weapons are always trumped by simple logic of "Bring a knife to a gun fight". Due to the fantasy nature of the game, many creative liberties can be had with melee combat. For now I shall keep it simple to ease into more of my ideas later.
TL;DR : Melee slotted weapons are never taken seriously, I have ideas that would make them something to reckon with.

@slender crane it seems your grievances are more so with hitmakers than flash bombs themselves. Considering the only reason you get a hitmaker with flash is because it does 1 dmg thus prompting a player grunt.
not really i just think theres too much indication that the flash hit the player or not, and honestly even the audio pin pointing from the grunting too. I just think it would make the tool a bit less OP if theres no indication whatsoever

Well, my argument is bunkering down or holding a corner with shotguns is just as OP too. Propper breaching tactics afforded with flash bombs and other throwables counters that kind of camping. The better thing to do is to remove the one damage it causes, or reduce the damaging radius of it so the more severe durations are harder to land.
on their introduction they would give a hitmarker if the enemy was affected even in the slightest, and you wouldn't know if you flashed them for a fraction of a sec or full duration -
That made them borderline useless and they had to buff them so they were useful at all.

That post really is the boiler plate industry response from what I understand are frustrated devs. I get it but brushing us off as complainers who can't tell the difference between cheating, and ability is not advancing anything. Trust me I get beat plenty and I can recognize when someone gets the a lucky frag, the bush didn't cover as much of your head as you thought it did, or your evasion pattern isn't as good as you think it is. I've made blind shots and gotten kills, and I've been hit and killed from crazy angles and distances. I've even got a few screen shots kicking around of getting killed.by a bear trap through a wall, and poison shot through a wall. Sometimes the game decides you die and the RNG doesn't pan out. But when your whole team gets killed through 2 buildings by a guy in the next compound buy a guy with hidden stats and an account that's 2 weeks old while the games on sale. Yeah it's not hard to put those pieces together. It would be nice if they could at least tell us the cliff notes for how reports are handled. I'm not asking for them to detail their processes for evaluating claims, or how they process evidence, or what tools they use. It would just be nice to know something more then ~we banned some people~ because from the outside looking in it looks like nothing's happening which is frustrating. It would be nice to know and believe their is someone who looks at the reports. Who takes some time to review what can be reviewed and thinks "hmm that is suspicious" or "nope you just suck get good and people won't clown on ya as much". Because right now it feels like pressing the door close button on an elevator that's not hooked up, and is just there to provide an illusion of effort. I'm sure anti easy cheat picks up on lots of stuff, and I get it's an arms race. My focus isn't on cheaters as a whole, I'm just not convinced when you hit report that "report" goes anywhere. With no information it's hard not to worry it doesn't.
To be clear. I love the game which is why I am writing this. I want to see hunt be successful, and continue the growth it has been enjoying. The more people who play the more fun an interesting strategies and fights I can get into and that's what it's all about. I worry no one actually reviews reports because I understand what a monster of a task it must be to sort them. I'm sure hundreds and hundreds come in every day and I'm also sure the vast majority are likely from people pissed they got killed, and they can't see how it was done and if they can't figure it out that means it must be cheaters!!!! I get that sorting though the lovely comments I'm sure hunters pissed off and fresh out the match attach to those reports must just be a delightful treat to read as well. I'm sure they are all well written and not at all bitch sessions.... Not. Its because I see all theses issues with reporting and recognize what a massive undertaking sorting that would be atleast without some kind of automation that I'm worried it's just not being looked at. Maybe the system is actually just a counter. Waiting for an account to gather enough reports, and hit a number before passing that account on for review. Idk which kinda makes it hard to feel like it does anything when you can't see it do anything.
I was not implying that your reports were false (although the devs have stated that there are in fact a lot of false reports, thus why the report system was moved to post-match). It's a general statement on the situation.
All I can say about the way reports are handled is that every one is looked at by a customer support representative with the tools they have available (cannot go into detail of course, but modern games have telemetry on almost everything).
People have suggested receiving feedback on reports, but that could likely lead to a violation of privacy rights, since some regions consider online nicknames to be personal identifiable information.

I know they pride themselves on being community driven but I don't know that they do enough to really help people see where the community ideas are actually impacting. Humans as a whole (I was gonna say gamers but to be honest it's basically everyone) are dame near impossible to please. You do one thing but people are still pissed you didn't do the other. But I think a lot of it comes back to people not being able to connect where what they are saying is actually affecting change.
If people knew more about the team that reviewed reports even sterilized to keep information useful to hackers from getting out it could go a long way to helping people have faith that even if they don't always get it right they are always trying.

Did you know they did that in the past? They put out numbers, it was ineffective at putting to rest the "FEAR". The fear is actualy something the players has to fix for themselves. Crytek can't help you if you think like this "I'm just not convinced when you hit report that "report" goes anywhere."

They have said it goes somewhere to be read by a person more than once, yet STILL people say "but how can we know?" or "I FEEL like nothing is happening and they are lying"... It is a confidence issue, that goes deeper than crytek's anticheat and report system. In my opinion of course.
I agree that the confidence issue plays a role. I think a lot of people have like me been in gaming for decades, and have all experienced reports being ineffective which has made the job all the more difficult for crytek because people are pre conditioned for reports to be ineffective. I think that also has a large part to do with as I detailed what a massive undertaking addressing reports is for a company. For the most part people's lack of faith in reports are not even Cryteks fault, but it's an issue they like all games need to address. To be clear their no way to fully build everyone's faith in the system, maybe not even a majority. But I do think showing the community that efforts are being taken beyond just a quick block of text saying it's being addressed with no details, could go a long way.
Your suggestion is trying to make flash as useless as possible. I can understand the removal of the hit marker so you have to listen but the removal of the grunt too? That's just stupid in a game where you have to listen.

I think its a trust issue, and people have trust issues when they have no confidence that they can detect deception.
when you learn how things work, things make sense, and you can feel confident in knowing you can trust the dev's word when they say they are serious about it, that they are committed to fighting cheating behavior/rule breaking in Hunt. And that they want the best for the game.

Personally I think you just can't help some players. It is like the old saying about horses and water. They have a "confidence in assessment" problem and fear the devs are lying... what can you do?

@trail carbon and plus the Caldwell conversion uppercut uses a rifle cartridge when the Colt Walker conversion uses a .45 long colt which is a pistol round not a rifle round

Have you considered… shooting them in the head. If shotguns didn’t one shot then they would just be the sparks with extra steps. The counter to shotguns is simply not entering their effective range

I see that you arent very good, thats simply my assumption
I think some details on process could be helpful. I don't like the idea of saying things are what they are because it excuses a lack of effort. If things really are helpless then giving up now and shutting down is the best solution because logically theirs no point in applying resources to a hopeless cause. I don't subscribe to that. I also don't think humans are wired to distrust a report feature. It's a nurtured issues. People have not seen evidence of it working and are conditioned to see it as ineffective because of that. Anything that a person can be conditioned into they can be conditioned out of. So if we agree that a quick number salad did not restore people's faith then it stands to reason we must go further. Perhaps a dev stream where maybe we get to see some of the team who work on reports. Not a detail process but maybe we could see how reports are presented to them. See how our reports appear to Cryteks service reps when they get them. Maybe no how they are evaluated as that might be useful information to cheaters, but just how our reports get to and where they go

I mostly follow you. But one thing confused me. What "lack of effort" is being excused? What effort are you referring to?
On a related note, I often have wished a game company would do videos showing what a day is like in each department. Talk about details. It would only appeal to some, but those players would appreciate the look into another world.
When I say lack of effort I'm referring to when people say things like "that's just how it is" or "we tried X and it didn't work so I guess that's it" I find that usually means that a solution was not found because people were not willing to expend the effort to find it.
I get that sometimes the juice isn't worth the squeeze but in this case I really feel like it is. Faith in the fairness of a game is what makes people want to play it. No on wants to play a game that don't think they can win because they feel like not only are people cheating but nothing is being done to fix it. I don't think nothing is be done mind, but I honestly know so little that I couldn't tell you more then that. They threw some numbers out 5k banned I believe but that's an ultimately meaningless number out of context. Is that 5k caught by anti easy cheat? 5k banned after report review? 5k out of 200,000 reports? 5k out of 7000 reports? 3k reports and 2k anti easy cheat? See what I mean saying 5k ultimately is not much better or on par with just saying we do things source trust me bro. You can't buy much with it because it's honestly not worth anything.
They want us to believe and I want to believe. We have that in common, but it's not a religion. I won't just take it on faith that it's happening because sky daddy's book said it happened. I want to see facts, not just facts but context, and see the people or process that those facts come from. I'm ready to believe just give me the info to believe in. Because left to what I can see from the outside it's a dim view.

Oh no I agree I said it in a much earlier post (Part of the issue with having discussions on discord anyone who arrives late is at a disadvantage in the information) I'm sure the majority of people who see "Cheaters" are likely just, Not in as much cover as they thought, More predictable then they want to admit, the victim of RNG, victim of hunts code (ive been wall banged with poison ammo, even have a screen cap of getting killed by a bear trap through a wall lol) but that could be addressed with more transparency. As hunts on sale right now their are more cheaters then average. I know a friend who is banned who picks up a copy when the games on sale so he could get back in, on the last sale he got himself banned again after about a month but he cheated the entire time so that's rough that he got away with it for as long as he did (I don't play with him on hunt for this reason why play if your not going to play). So they are out their. Last night I got in to a match with a guy who downed our entire team from a compound away through 2 buildings in less then 2 minutes. Guys got a 6 day old steam account not hard to see a carbon copy of my one buddy. They are out their, they do get away with it. But yeah I agree they are not the majority. I just want to know they are getting taken out, and faster then a month would be nice.

@wise aspen worth mentioning, many don't know, but you can actually try loadouts and weapons in the training mode under lobby. Ofcourse you'd have to unlock weapons, but a place to try stuff out already kinda exists.

Crytek prides itself on community involvement though so I'm sure that even a hard problem like filtering out shit reports could be solved, but I think alot of people (and I have about 12 people in my steam friends list who are among them) just get frustrated and give up

Sure it is fine, but it would be nice to have an enviorment where you can quickly change between weapons and get damage numbers displayed and a shooting range that indicates distances.
Which is still a Problem for Most people because grinding is rarely fun. I want to okay to have fun Not Play so i can Play.
A successful Match usually does Not pay for your loadout except If you were Able to loot for Money.
I have a friend who quit Hunt because as He Put it "you get nothing when you die".
Meaning even If you would que as a Solo, kill 10 people, get 3 clues and kill the boss you only get 350 Dollars If the Last guy who did nothing all Match extract Camps you or something.

Have two ways of balancing it:
- Just nerf long ammo across the board, most of all, cap all non-one-shot rifles to 124 damage, just so people have a reason to keep playing after getting downed once.
- or make contracts that have a budget limit that require players to make choices or sacrifies to their loadouts.
I think long ammo should be nerfed a decent amount. Bring it in line with the other two ammo types

I never played any other extract shooter but this one and there is some budgeting to be had as a basic consideration for it. I more so comes down to individual skill but almost any gun in this game is a one shot to the head and two shot to the torso. There are enough FREE things practically thrown at players such as free weapons, money, items, and consumables that it all just sorts itself out who makes better use of it than others, and Im certain thats what the devs intended with the game.
Long ammo being so strong right now is why medium ammo feels so bad to use

Eyup, there is some clear weapons and playstyles that is optimal in Hunt. Which is fair, every game have optimal play. But I feel it is a little too much skewed.
Like long ammo usually have it all: Best penetration, best damage, best muzz, best damage retention and to top it off, usually good enough fire rates.
Even if they knocked down the damage to 124 (for non-one-shot rifles), it would still be a strong selection of upsides.

imo, it'd be great as a boss mechanic. You could have it so that the "frenzy" phase of the boss is it applying "insanity" to hunters in the boss arena (phantom footsteps/gunshots, or even visual hunters that run at you, but disappear right before they reach you), with it maybe being easily cleared by using an antidote shot.

It could be the server. But you would have to do some diagnostics to verify where the connection issues crop up.
You need to find out the IP of the game server you're using. Then you could run traceroute towards it, and then use ping on the IP-addresses you discovered.
Or you could just use a tool like WinMTR to do this automatically.
I mean what's the point in naming people? I said what I said you believe it or you don't. It's cool. It may not be systemic maybe certain nodes within the cluster but I watched a dude in Russia have the issue then I flipped to a streamer on US West. I was in a match and received it as well.
If a network along the path to the game servers is having an issue, it's likely going to affect other people too whose data gets routed by the selfsame network.
It was the third match .. I'm in queue for my 4th.
So I can go watch them having the problems you describe, then I would not have to believe you at all. It would be an observable fact.
I was helping with troubleshooting issues some people from Germany were having. The bad nodes along the path were in Tata Communication's network, not in LeaseWeb's.
So something is going on and it seems to be local to Hunt infrastructure because it's not region specific.
It's not always clear-cut Crytek / LeaseWeb issue.

@ocean sorrel I watched your vid and I don't see what you describe. The players have quite varied setups. I even saw a crossbow user. Why is it a problem if two people out of 12 had a shotgun with slugs or an avto? Wouln't that be expected in high rank games?
@karmic ivy point is, these are meant to be rare but strong guns, it should be a shock or exciting to come across someone using them, but since 1.10 they are (at least it seems) as prevalent as the dolch was pre nerf. If you take a single round of hunt it isn't a "problem" but when it's maybe 8 out of 10 rounds they are far too common. And it's just frustrating to have someone one hit kill you to the chest at long range or spray you down and get a lucky head shot.
Much like the Devs said about the dolch these guns are a "skill levelers" that allow less skilled players to compete at an artificially high level.
In what I will call Genuine high rank games, there will be loads of "low end" weapons because good players don't need the crutch, and it's in these rounds where everyone is on a level playing field that hunt is most fun (in my opinion).
My opinion is they are so provident at the moment that they are spoiling the interest and feeling of hunt, everyone in my "team" have put over or close too 2k hours into the game, we love it, but the current meta is starting to make us not want to play because the gun fights simply are becoming unenjoyable

Cool gun, but issue is that historically the Volcanic was quite a weak gun, so in the sense of balancing it might be hard to make it meaningful in the setting of Hunt.
Also don't think we really need more rapid fire options in Hunt.
Yep it was a weak gun, but in hunt we have such things as a mosin avtomat, so I don't see any problem to increase it's damage

Well, you would 3 tap people, but the splash and aim punch was good enough for not giving people on console a fighting chance. That is the issue on PC you can still get rebound from the aim punch and shoot people.

Does anything happens with the spawn algorithm? Two day in row we always spawned in the same compound with at least two or three other duos.
It is absolutely unplayable, because at the first match since you have no time to watch around and make your muscles memory working. We are constantly dying int he first couple of minutes.

Yes, because right now people can't bunker down because they know they will have to leave
12 concertina bombs blocking every entrance to the boss lair with them hiding in random corners with shotguns sounds fun
I'd rather them literally remove sniper and marksman scopes from the game
I’m not very impressed with the Stalker Beetle. I think adding the drone camera takes away from the uncertainty and anxiety inherent to the game. But thankfully it’s not something that hurts the game. Overall, I’ve been very happy with this game. And the hypertension it causes me when I get murdered.
I like the Stalker Beetle as a thing that exists, but god DAMN can I not see a damn thing with it.

@ocean sorrel s ive never seen that kind of play in my time as 6 star, but jesus, the avto is just insane. 75, headshot is super unlikely from a normal mosin idk why in gods name an avto should be able to lucky shot from that range

@lethal oyster I agree to not give too many rewards for prestige, but at least re-vamp it so the unlock system is not such a pain to deal with. I wouldn't go as extreme as "you unlock this weapon tree fo the duration of this prestige" but at least make it so stuff like throwing axes and the knuckle knife are less tedious to unlock
I totally get that. The thing is, prestige is one of those systems that you really don't have to engage with if you don't feel like it. You're not really losing anything if you just stick to p0.
I think the badge really should be reserved for people who are willing to deal with the inconvenience. Especially now that the unlock trees have been altered, prestige becomes a lot easier to handle already.
I used to be a happy prestiger, but the game have simply bloated so much that every prestige runs means you only get to play with a handful of weapons before havin' to prestige again.
Think prestige done right is healthy for the game as it keeps the weapon pool more diverse, but right now you kinda need to commit to a weapon or two if you want their variants unlocked. Custom ammo is for sure the biggest issue among it.
But most of all, I wish the book of weapons/monsters didn't reset every time. It is hard to keep track of.

Bloat is a good point, actually. Also part of the reason the questlines are so bad for someone who hits the button regularly. I guess that's never really been an issue to me because i dislike the vast majority of variants. Only one I constantly miss is the officer carbine tbh

There is some workarounds for bloat, one would be that weapons (and variants) you've unlocked in the book of weapons gets more exp pr. prestige, so people who commit slowly reduce the tedium.
Luckily I despise most long ammo weapons, so I don't worry too much about that :b
See, that's what I mean. It's not like anybody has to prestige. It really is nothing more than a number and some mediocre skins. The prestige system is so unobtrusive i hardly see the point of bringing it up at all. If one doesn't like it, they don't have to do it.

Well, my counter point is that I know a lot of people (including myself) that used to like the prestige, it is nice to be forced into certain weapons for a while, but it simply becomes more and more punishing with amount of unlocks now.
Being annoyed by that is totally understandable. But in the end, that only makes the prestige number more valuable if you're willing to go through that larger inconvenience
Eeeeh, there is a balance between inconvenience and fun.
Moreso a more attractive prestige system would diversify the weapon pool, so people ain't only running high cash S-tier weapons every match.

For the first thousand or two hours in this game I just sat at rank 1 level 100 but then started to prestige out of boredom then hit 100. I don't really feel like there is a point. Bragging rights for what? Too much free time? It's exactly that. Dunno. Feels like it should be more than it is.
There was talk about hunter customization long ago but I think that went away. It would be nice if prestige unlocked hunter presets or something based on the tiers/skin. You can setup hunters for certain tasks - like redshirt i'd setup as shotgun/bomblance type thing. If you're going to invest the kind of time it takes to hit 100 in the current system there should be some baseline mechanical advantages. Back in day there were fewer skins but now they're literally a dime a dozen. The game has so many skins.

Like more loadout slots, loadout folders, the ability to filter loadouts bases on the traits the hunters have (I can choose to show all the loadouts that benefit from, let's say levering)

Seems like some changes they've partially implemented has positioned the game to possibly go free to play at some point. Ping/region lock, more focus on micro trans, etc. I personally have stopped spending money on the game until servers are improved. I won't buy a battlepass, skin, etc. until the game is more stable and responsive. I'm in the minority here so take it for what it's worth .. not much.
it's true that a LOT of the feature that are "implemented" are very half-baked
The game is starting to feel bloated at this point. I love hunt don't get me wrong but the UI needs work and the amount of scrolling and time spent in menu is a bit cumbersome. At this point skins are just more clutter in my mind.

Not sure I'd go so far as to say half-baked .... I would say that Crytek isn't realizing the full value of the game. Watching the streams and what not the lead developer(s) do care a great deal but they seem hamstrung over infrastructure. That's my hot take anyway. So a fair number of half measures lead to worsening of the overall product. Things don't always feel cohesive but I dunno. I just wish the servers were better. Maybe movement a bit less janky.

I think its one of the most suggested things. Just list the basic versions, and only once you select one you get a drop down menu or something for the specific skins
For legendary hunters, they already have the grid but it's just in the store, not the recruitment 😆
I think, apart from server issues, the bane is avto/nitro/special ammo

I would argue some items feel mandatory. Choke bomb and a medkit are two good examples. With fire bomb changes that pretty much forced people to take chokes. Example of half measures .. maybe should have added water buckets to the world like lanterns then changed fire bombs. Two slots out of every loadout are pretty much "must haves" ... we have all these tools and I get the importance of making a choice but decisions made actually lead to fewer gameplay options.
Back in the day you didn't need a choke but now it feels like you do. That was a developer decision that didn't really improve the game IMO -- fire bombs lasting longer.

chokes are kind of "optionnal" if you're playing solo, but we have so many tool options and I always have to use the same ones because they're almost required

One QoL feature I would like is having every hunter for bounty hunt come with a medkit

They should make some "specialised" slots, like one for a medkit, and one for a spyglass/lamp
Maybe they're gearing up for that with some of the price changes. If all hunters came with a basic kit (e.g. chokes, medkit) then they'd need to offset that.

Well, chokes are just way to good not to take. They put out fires, stop explosives, create a slight smokescreen, force enemy hunters out of position, cause coughing, and this all works through walls.
They are great…Although I wish they’d change that last part.

Whenever the test server is up (like right now) you can all queue at the same time and get into the same match almost gauranteed as long as it's not the first day or two of the update
I never Said its good behaviour or that I Approve of it. And while its unsportsmanlike, there is no Law against buying a Game a Second time. Its that simple.
Thus there is nothing you can do. And furthermore, lets be reasonable: why would crytek do something against people buying their Product more than once (Not even thinking of DLC).

Quigley’s gun would be fine in Hunt (pretty close to Nitro, though), but the actual Quigley character is too tonally dissonant

I personally don't like the idea of any any options that make holding angles and such even more common, stuff like being able to prone and such have been generally heavily downvoted in the past and I feel like leaning falls into that same category
They have already stated as well that left peek is something they want to fix

adjustable crouch like in tarkov would give us so many juicy angles in Hunt

Regarding Flash Bombs - I don’t know why people have such a huge problem with these?? I don’t often encounter them on console…and the effective range seems pretty short, to the point where 85% of the time I use one, I don’t hit anyone, or it’s only a partial flash. You have to have a really good idea of where someone is to completely blind them. Unless I’m not getting something about it, it seems like players aren’t considering all of ways to prevent that from happening or putting yourself within range of a throw. Seems like it’s the same players dividing gameplay into “PUSH” actions or “CAMPING” actions.

@upbeat axle they already payed to many streamers, did several events on twitch and while release steam had a huge banner. Low community here because devs splitted it with weird decisions in gameplay, gunplay and etc. Plus lack of good servers, ideas and modes. They wanted to make this game for everyone, but did common bland Battle Royale with a skin store.
Just curious, what’s an example of a weird decision with gameplay/gunplay? Also, what should the game have been, in your opinion? (I’m asking really because I haven’t followed the development closely over the years)
In v1.0 they removed adad, for hardcore players they added DSB, red warnings and sway, so after game become to a casual as hell shooter. For players which liked monsters devs did nothing (even behavior of them like in mmo, but should be like in horror game). They also changed gun play several times. Bosses kinda useless. They removed tires of hunters an killed economics in game. I even do not remember all of changes.
For me, this game must be a hunting game in the first. So, pve in this game and horror elements must play a huge role, but it must be balanced with pvp. Right now Hunt more pvp, this is the reason why pve is boring. Also in the game must be several modes:
Bounty Hunt - default horror hunting mode for solo and duos with balanced pve and pvp
Quick play - must be with gameplay which have bounty hunt now with trios and etc. Pure pvp mode.
Pve - for a new players, where people can finish events and etc.
Yeah I think I agree with your general idea. Were there extra tiers of hunters before? What monster behavior is like MMO instead of pure horror?

Yeah, all tiers had different health, so 1 or free hunters was only for pve and collecting money. And only with tier 2 and 3 you can fight for bounty. As you can see, devs removed some kind of preparing for real battle. What's why pve become useless.
Monster behavior suposted to be like in resident evil.
Dsb (dark sight boost) its a special vision which shows other players. In alpha was only dark sight, so you can see only clues.

Back before I started prestigeing I had about 30 level 50 hunters in my roster just sitting there with an entire loadout of dolches, nitro, avtomats, uppercuts
At my peak I had close to 40 dolches all on hunters maxed out
I would like there to be a proper way to have them in your inventory so you don't need to bother, but the option is there to store them on hunters
I already had to start doing that. But I don't want to have to buy hunter slots eventually and do inventory management just to keep a weapon I earned by killing another hunter.

We already can't sell them. The only real thing the contraband limit does is preventing people from farming free hunter gear.

This does seem to be what people focus on, the competitive E-Sports aspects of PvP multiplayer…I would like something to make the PVE more significant, and maybe interrupt the PvP during the game a little bit

@quasi tide Maybe they were talking about the reserve ammo bug that just showed up recently and called it the reload bug
posted starshell rework idea. General gist is to rework the starshell into being more of a firework than a flare. With overall gameplay niche being that you sacrifice your short range combat ability for a round that can flush targets from cover at range with a weak explosive

starshell legitimately doesn't need too much help, it just needs to be quieter.
sorta, though due to smaller payload, much less of a direct damage dealer than the explosive crossbow, with more of a incendiary focus

Just copypasting my suggestion from yesterday, hoping to discuss it a little. I'd like to see what people think are pros and cons of this, personally I don't see any negatives other than quartermaster loadouts with multiple scopes being easier to use.
Title: Merge Perks
Merge Iron Sharpshooter/Repeater/Devastator, Deadeye/Marksman/Sniper Scopesmith, and Steady Aim/Hand into a single perk for each function. Could simply be "Remain in iron sights after firing a shot" "Remain in Scope after firing a shot" "Weapon sway gradually lessens while looking through a scope"
Price could be increased even if it feels necessary, it would just make things more convenient and less specific. It would also help reduce the amount of unlocks on the bloodline, freeing up space for newer items.

It does ask a question in what the purpose of perks should be. I'd like to think that the best kind of perks open up a new way to play, fanning for example totally changes how you use pistols at close ranges, and the aforementioned quartermaster allows many builds to even exist! Slightly faster firing while ADS isn't as transformative, you are doing what you would have been doing anyways, but slightly faster.
I don't particularly care for the design of the latter. If we were to roll in these Iron ___ into one perk, it may need to be more expensive to offset the flexibility, which would then remove points to be spent on other perks. Though what are the odds that you will have multiple iron (blank) perks active for a single loadout besides quartermaster anyways? Might be good just for convenience sake, disregarding the (IMO) boring, non-transformative design
@primal ether The way you describe the 800ms threshold of the Hit Validation System shows that you do not understand what the Hit Validation system is, and why we need it.
You are correct that it would be best if we could play without such systems. But that is not possible in a multiplayer games such as Hunt, that use client side hit detection.
There are resources published by crytek and various you tubers that can help you understand the intricacies of latency in multiplayer games (with client side hit detection, and server side hit validation) if you want to learn about it. It is not actually hard to understand, but you could say some parts are counter-intuitive to most players.
After you learn how it works, it will be easy to see that we need the Hit Validation system and appreciate how it would be different, and in my opinion, less fun, if we did not have it in place.
My hat is off to the developers for doing such a nice job with it. The gunplay here in Hunt is very crisp and clean, It is smooth and lacks the strange feeling of something being wrong with the timing of combat and death (as can happen in games with server side hit detection).
The gunplay in Hunt is what draws me to it, and the way the gunplay unfolds is dictated by the hit detection and validation systems.
Instead of assuming the system has been neglected, you should take the fact that the values (for the hit validation system) have not been changed since they were implemented as a good sign that we are near optimal in this regard.
