• Passcode
• Touch ID/Face ID
• Apple Pay

Additionally, if you’ve ever enabled a Passcode on iOS 16 on the iPhone 8/X, you’ll need to erase all content and settings in order to successfully jailbreak with palera1n. Disabling it in settings only will not work and you must fully factory reset. If you wish to restore from a backup, then backup with the passcode disabled and reset.

When jailbroken with Dopamine on arm64 devices, you may encounter the issue of your touchscreen not working while in a jailbroken state. This is a known issue caused by the display on the device having been replaced in the past with a low-quality display. While there have been attempts to resolve this issue, it's a stock bug with no reliable way to fix it. If you would like to try one of the available workarounds, you can either use Cheapamine, an unofficial fork of Dopamine which attempts to address the issue by not userspace rebooting the device, or jailbreak with palera1n instead (note that Dopamine must be removed prior to attempting either of these).

If the device is stuck on the Apple logo or black screen

• Unplug and replug the device. This usually solves the issue.
• If it doesn’t work, reboot and rejailbreak, and unplug/replug as soon as the Apple logo appears after “DFU mode device disconnected”.

If the device booted up to normal mode

• Try jailbreaking again and make sure you enter DFU correctly. Entering DFU straight from normal mode is known to cause issues, at least on A11 devices. You should enter recovery mode first and let palera1n guide you to enter DFU.
• Make sure you have removed legacy palera1n (palera1n.sh) as palera1n-c does not support creating or booting a tethered setup.
• Try exiting recovery mode using palera1n -n.
• If it’s still recovery looping and you can’t exit, your SSV seal is most likely broken. Use the apfs-reseal script to fix it. (This script currently only works fully automatically on macOS).
• As a last resort, try updating in iTunes/Finder, and if that doesn’t fix it, restore.

Other things to check

• Use a USB-A cable, not USB-C (if you have an Apple Silicon Mac, you may need a USB hub rather than a single-cable adapter).
• Use a computer with an Intel or Apple Silicon CPU, as AMD has issues.

or they would be too old to use regardless of jailbreak type

rootful is not worth the heavy storage penalty and instability, it technically isnt even considered "real" rootful

If the device is stuck on the Apple logo or black screen

• Unplug and replug the device. This usually solves the issue.
• If it doesn’t work, reboot and rejailbreak, and unplug/replug as soon as the Apple logo appears after “DFU mode device disconnected”.

If the device booted up to normal mode

• Try jailbreaking again and make sure you enter DFU correctly. Entering DFU straight from normal mode is known to cause issues, at least on A11 devices. You should enter recovery mode first and let palera1n guide you to enter DFU.
• Make sure you have removed legacy palera1n (palera1n.sh) as palera1n-c does not support creating or booting a tethered setup.
• Try exiting recovery mode using palera1n -n.
• If it’s still recovery looping and you can’t exit, your SSV seal is most likely broken. Use the apfs-reseal script to fix it. (This script currently only works fully automatically on macOS).
• As a last resort, try updating in iTunes/Finder, and if that doesn’t fix it, restore.

Other things to check

• Use a USB-A cable, not USB-C (if you have an Apple Silicon Mac, you may need a USB hub rather than a single-cable adapter).
• Use a computer with an Intel or Apple Silicon CPU, as AMD has issues.

• Passcode
• Touch ID/Face ID
• Apple Pay

Additionally, if you’ve ever enabled a Passcode on iOS 16 on the iPhone 8/X, you’ll need to erase all content and settings in order to successfully jailbreak with palera1n. Disabling it in settings only will not work and you must fully factory reset. If you wish to restore from a backup, then backup with the passcode disabled and reset.
