The other apps will only work while jailbroken, but they won't have a time limit. Hello! I have an iPhone 8 Plus and I tried installing palera1n v2 on it using a windows program. I did the rootless process and it showed no errors, however, the palera1n icon app doesn’t show up. I tried doing the same process a few times and still nothing, so I tried with rootfull, and it got stuck in the booting process, I just waited for the battery to drain. Hey so I jailbroke my iPhone 7 awhile back with palera1n using palen1x, rootless. Anyway, I didn't realize that the jailbreak wouldn't be permanent and at some point my phone rebooted or auto-updated (not sure which) and the jailbreak was gone.
Anyway, so I'm trying to re-jailbreak using the same method, but once I boot into palen1x and enter the phone into DFU mode, the message "UAF Race: Heuristic strategic failure. Setup packed wasn't accepted" (or something like that) repeated over and over again. It just repeats seemingly forever. I've exited, rebooted everything, resintalled palen1x, etc but I get same results. Anyone know what's up?

Generally, that UaF message has to do with using an AMD computer to do the exploit,which is known to be very unreliable. I'd say the first time you jailbroke and it succeeded was probably luck. But try plugging your phone into all the ports on the computer, as sometimes that can have an impact

you can itunes restore or reset in the Settings app, both work. If you have important data, you can make a backup beforehand and restore the backup afterwards. You just can't set a passcode after the restore

If this issue still persists and you're on an Ubuntu-based Linux distro, then try palen1x as I've found Linux Mint to not act right with palera1n.
If you don't get the Apple logo, maybe try reconnecting around the same time? might work? if not then force reboot.
Generally, palen1x being stuck on "booting kernel" is fairly normal. That means the jailbreak (should be) done and the device should be booted into iOS/iPadOS. If nothing is happening, try force rebooting. To exit out of that menu, press CTRL + C, and type "exit".

- Being rootless or rootful doesn't affect entering DFU
- "Booting Kernel" generally means that the jailbreak has completed.
You should be using rootless
and try doing DFU again, make sure you're not using a Lightning to USB-C cable as they often won't get you into DFU
