You can do it semi-tethered tho, so your iPad will be able to boot without a computer, but into unjailbroken state only. To rejailbreak you'll need a computer. One catch tho: you need to sacrifice 10gb of space on your iPad.

I think you did not enter dfu mode from recovery mode, but directly into dfu mode, that will cause the device to reboot into the system here

its only 2 times that you need to boot into DFU mode, where one is right before you start anything and the two is after ramdisk

or is it that you had jailbreak and then lost battery and your phone shutdown and now its not booting up and going into recovery mode?

if you restart itll go into recovery mode then youllve to go DFU mode and jailbreak it again to boot

mind it that it wont boot without you running jailbreak.

Hey, i installed palera1n on my iPhone X (15.7.1) and everything worked fine, but after couple of reboots (and re-jailbreakings) the Tips app disappeared and the "fake" tips app was on my Home Screen (the one without icon and the warning that it must be updated).

So.. What should i do now... everything works but i cant get in Tips to "Do all" and use the jailbreak.

You could kinda workaround this by using the legacy branch of palera1n but it’s not really the best solution in the world and when this issue is fixed you’ll need to remove your jailbreak in order to switch back to maintained palera1n

Also keep in mind that the legacy branch of palera1n does not have tweak injection into App Store apps

Your only other option is to update to 15.7.1 and use current palera1n there (you won’t have the issue there)

• use legacy branch of palera1n (not recommended at all)
• update to 15.6 RC, 15.7.1, or use blobs to get to any version between 15.4-15.7.1

Common issues with palera1n

Fixable:

Binaries/bundles must be resigned: this issue mainly affects packages from the Procursus repo or executables, use a mirror or use ldid -s (for example, ldid -s /Applications/Filza.app) to fix. Alternatively, you can install AutoSigner from nebula's repo to automate this process.

Linux usb issues: open two terminal windows. In the first window, run sudo systemctl stop usbmuxd and then sudo usbmuxd -f -p and leave this window open. In the second window, run the palera1n commands.

No passcode on A10(X) devices: With the release of palera1n-c, A10(X) devices can now natively support a passcode. To migrate to palera1n-c, follow the guide here https://docs.palera.in/usage/migration-from-palera1n.sh.

Host OS is a Windows-based machine: palera1n does not support Windows natively and requires macOS or Linux. However, Windows users may use the palen1x ISO in order to live boot a minimal Linux installation for an easy jailbreaking process by following the guide here https://docs.palera.in/palen1x/flashing-palen1x.

Not fixable (as of 13/2/23)

palera1n not working on AMD computers: as with all other checkm8 based tools, issues may arise with certain AMD devices. If palera1n does not work for you, you will need to use an Intel based computer or a Mac.

No passcode on A11 devices: due to SEP mitigations, a passcode cannot be set while jailbroken on A11 devices. This problem is present on A10(X) as well, but is fixable with palera1n-c as it utilizes the blackbird SEP exploit. On A11, there is no SEP exploit public, so there is no foreseeable fix. Additionally, on iOS 16, a passcode can never have been set at any point on A11, meaning you must restore the device if one has ever been set (you may backup your data).

Unable to enter DFU (device reboots): make sure you are not using a USB type-C cable when attempting to enter DFU. These cables are unable to put iDevices in DFU mode, so you must use an adapter or a USB type-A cable.

iMessage/App Store issues: due to a bug with Substitute, you may encounter issues when attempting to use iMessage or the App Store on iOS 16. If this occurs, you will only be able to use these services when not jailbroken. Open the Substitute app and disable tweaks to temporarily fix the problem.

palera1n app not appearing: sometimes, when jailbreaking for the first time (most notably on 16.2), the palera1n loader app will not appear. This is due to a bug where the device will panic and reboot, preventing the loader app from appearing. There is no concrete fix at this time, but some users have reported that creating a shortcut to the loader app using the Shortcuts app will allow you to open the loader app.

make sure the device is in recovery mode

also, it's --restorerootfs, not --restore-rootfs
