in nitoTV -> settings -> applications there's an option to decrypt the app which I think sets the toggle switch and launches the app. I did that, checked that the option is on for the specified app in settings -> bfdecrypt enabled applications and manually re-launched the app a few times but no further dialogue appears.

Actually, the YouTube app for tvos is nothing more than a glorified web browser that is permanently pointed at https://youtube.com/tv & is nothing like the iOS version. What we really need is the iOS youtube app’s source code, so we can compile it for appletvos-arm64, & replace all the iPhone UI stuff with the appropriate tvos stuff. I spent way too much time trying to figure out why I couldn’t hook the same functions as I could on iOS, under the assumption the only difference between the two was the target the app was compiled for. Boy, was I wrong. It was abundantly clear when I finally got bfdecrypt installed on the appletv & decrypted the YouTube “app”, sent a copy to my laptop & ran it through a few disassembly tools, it’s literally a web browser with one possible domain. Trust me, I would love more than anything to be able to block ads on my Apple TV, it’s gotten to the point where I can’t even go to the bathroom or step away for a moment without coming back to some 45minute long garbage ad playing on my tv about god knows what. It’s pretty ridiculous. Imho, if you have an extra device, it’s easier to just block the ads on that device & then airplay the video to the tv instead of even messing with the YouTube “app” for tvos

I talked to KB about it & I think his opinion was it's easier to write your own client that uses google's API to get the actual video link.

I didn’t mean use the YouTube built-in functionality of “play on tv” or whatever they call it, I meant just actually airplaying it. I use uyou on my host client paired with the YouTube app, & in the video player itself or under the media controls in control center, you can choose there to AirPlay it to the Apple TV. uYou functions normally, & the Apple TV doesn’t even have to have the bogus tvos YouTube app on it. Does everything I want it to. Just at the cost of another iDevice. Perfect for an old iPod touch or old phone/iPad you’ve got lying around. i got the 4k Gen 1 & ordered the recommended/pinned wires here for it. the Foxlink one came today from AliExpress (that link) in the worst condition i’ve ever received an online order in lol, but the Alex DCSD wire is stuck in China still for a while longer.

can i just use a regular USB C to Lightning Apple official OEM wire w the Foxlink or does it only work w the Alex DCSD one w the lights on it?

To block OTA updates, you can install a modified tvOS beta profile. This works even without a jailbreak. Note that the profile expires and will stop blocking updates on <t:1675141200:D> (<t:1675141200:R>). Check back after that date for a new profile.

You can re-enable updates by uninstalling this profile in Settings -> General -> Profiles & Device Management.

If you're jailbroken, you can also install the OTADisabler tweak instead, but note that it is harder to remove while unjailbroken.

i opened up nitoTV though & i have 1 issue (nitotv4 is unpacked but unconfigured). should i go w the suggested solution of configuring it & is that normal for everyone after first jB?

the Verizon Fios app i used to replace my Fios cable box detected my jB. since my jB didn’t work & i couldn’t install any tweaks i couldn’t bypass it.

i reverted the filesystem & even unplugged & plugged in the apple tv back in, deleted the fios app & reinstalled it. it’s still showing as detecting the files as tampered.

what can i do? i can’t download tweaks & i can’t seem to fix it.

does changing the root password on the Apple TV stay or reset after the Apple TV is unplugged or even reset entirely?
