I know with iOS where I have changed my root password, if I reboot and rejailbreak the password is still kept at what I created. I have not tested a reset and rejailbreak but I imagine the reset will undo any custom passwords.

that’s been my experience as well. i would think it’s the same w the  tv that if you unplug , root password remains because so does all your apps, settings, info etc. but a reset/restore would wipe everything including root password out.

i have another question actually. where is the best place to request a tweak to made for  tv once nito repo is back up & running & i can re-jB (this time successfully 🤞🏼) ...

would it be r/TweakBounty or the genius bar here? in my experience the tweak bounty is mainly iOS & maybe iPadOS , cus i have yet to see any tv tweak requests in there.

I jailbroke my apple tv 4k with checkrain a few years ago. and i remember it did something to block updates. but ive tried restoring file system and resetting but updates still wont complete.

Yes and no. Dalesdeadbug opens the door to do that but the app you download may have dependencies that only reside in tvOS 14. In this case, the app will likely crash when you open it under an older OS version. It's hit and miss but a good tool to have because sometimes the app you want does work.

i removed the jB because the Verizon FiOS app detected system modification & i replaced the FiOS cable box w the Apple TV & since i couldn’t install any tweaks to avoid detection , it didn’t make sense to stay jailbroken.

yeah i couldn’t install any packages without binpack or unpack any of them & i couldn’t install binpack without cy+model & over & over in the same circle. it was an endless loop for me. extremely frustrating.

I copied the deb to /var/cache/apt/archives where all the other debs are located on the new box but need to know the install command.

I use Infuse. Version 7.2 and higher seems to have a stutter problem playing back some content. I get around this by re-installing version 7.1.3 instead. The problem is more noticeable on previous gen 4k and the 4HD models.I have not come across any audio issues though. Have you tried posting your issue on the Infuse boards?

Is There A Way To Ignore The Dependency Issue In DPKG Or APT? I Looked Through My Collection And Found I Do Have The Deb File For The Tweak I'm Trying To Use, And I Even Got It Installed, But That Uninstalled NitoTV.

I Had To RootFS And Re-JB.

Okay, I Looked It Up, I've Got A Way To Ignore The Dependencies, I'll Give It A Go And Report Back.

Alright, I Edited The File At /Var/Lib/DPKG/Status To Delete Dependencies For NitoTV. I Don't Plan On Using It Anyways, So It's Fine.

I have four 4k devices on u0 13.4.5 and on 3 of them ReProvision resigns them while in sleep mode perfectly. However, on the 4th device when ReProvision attempts to sign I get an error and it deletes the u0 app. All have the same version of ReProvision installed and a unique Apple ID. Can't figure out the reason for this.

@faint scarab I have had that problem. But, I signed out of Reprovision, resprung and signed in again and re-confirmed the settings. It always worked except for one of my devices where it fails and deletes the jb app

I Ended Up Just Editing The Dependencies File.

It's The Only Time SFTP Has Ever Worked Properly For Me.

I SFTPed In To The Apple TV And Edited The File To Remove All Dependencies For NitoTV.

Now It Installs Stuff Just Fine.
