I'm getting an error installing unc0verTV 5.3.0 on an ATV4 HD, tvOS 13.4.5, with Altdeploy 1.0 on macOS 10.13.6

it breaks with this message:

@frigid moatAltDeploy stopped working for me quite awhile ago so had to revert back to using Xcode (ughh). Version 1.0.1 is suppose to solve High Sierra issues and the latest is 1.1 but none work for me either on High Sierra or Mojave.

I can confirm that you can sideload u0 to the 4HD and 4k (previous model) using Xcode on Mojave (have not tested with High Sierra lately). I am using Xcode 11.7 which I modified some .plist files to get it to open on Mojave and added all the latest device platforms). It's a process for sure but it does work... sideloaded yesterday in fact with success.

@dry raftTry to disable Gatekeeper first. Open terminal and enter this command
sudo spctl --master-disable

It will ask for your mac pw (the one you login with). Hit enter. You can verify that Gatekeeper is off by going to Preferences > Security & Privacy > select the General tab. You should see another option for "Allow apps downloaded from" for full access.

Since you've tried to open the app before you did the above, your MacOS likely remembers your previous attempt. I believe if you move the app to another folder and try opening it again you should get a warning that it was downloaded from the internet, then just click "Open". To make sure your selection sticks, quit all apps, log out then back in and open the app again and if the warning pops up again just select "Open". That should stick now.

Afterwards, you can go back to your Security & Privacy settings and turn Gatekeeper option back on by selecting "App store and identified developers". Or you can turn on Gatekeeper again through terminal by entering:
sudo spctl --master-enable

Opening Xcode raises my blood pressure and I don't think there's any reason to upgrade Netflix until it stops working completely or u0 can jb 15.x. 14.5 may get an untethered JB eventually with the exploits releasing on Oct 21 (assuming the exploits work on tvOS too and someone actually bothers to make a JB, because unc0verTV hasn't even been updated for 14.0-14.3 yet)

the untether doesn't work on 13.x (probably not on 10.x either) and 15.x doesn't have any JB available yet, so probably best to stay on 14.5

14.6 is also jailbreakable with checkra1n (and maybe eventually a semi-untether with the IOMFB bug, although that probably won't work on A8) but 14.5 is probably your best choice rn

After uptime of several days to weeks with ATV4 on 13.4 the apple remote input gets incredibly laggy, iOS remotes are still responsive though.

I didn’t I thought it was pre installed. I I tried to re-jailbreak and after it being successful and blackbox telling me to plug Apple TV in and wait for it to auto reboot. It doesn’t do anything just shows me the restore logo on the screen and then after a while the screen goes blank

As long as your box is an HD one and not a 4k, I would update it to 13.4.8 as it is still signed. Many apps on 10.2.2 will be outdated. Even one of my subscription sports apps no longer works on 13.x (requires 14) so I can only imagine how much worse 10 will be.

Hey everyone, I know I'm a little late to the party. Dug out my Apple TV 3 and jailbroke using blackb0x, thanks @cyan veldt for adding Kodi to auto-install again. It's working great, but I'm trying to solve this weird edge case.

Basically I want to display a home automation dashboard, which is accessible via URL. All I want to do is display the web page on the ATV, but so far haven't figured out a good way to do it. Kodi has a program called 'Browser Launcher', but that doesn't work on Helix. My next thought was to try nitoTV but that seems like a big clusterfuck right now and I'm not confident the browser will work well on ATV3 anyways.

Any thoughts or tips on showing a webpage on jailbroken ATV3?

Apple TV 4 (HD) and older have USB ports so no issue there
Apple TV 4K (1st gen) needs the special cable
Apple TV 4K (2nd gen) is technically the same but it's not vulnerable to checkm8 so it's pointless to get it for that - but these start on 14.5 so yours is definitely 1st gen

GoldenEye and DCSD are basically meant to be used internally for diagnostics yeah, the other alternative is a breakout board which is a custom thing that requires soldering unlike the other cables

GoldenEye plugs into the Ethernet port to give you an USB connection, and then DCSD plugs into that to give you DFU

You’re gonna have to change the IsSupervised key to true in a plist somewhere. Then on one device (phone, laptop, whatever is not appletv) click that link of the profile & either write down the address or save it to notes. Then you’re gonna follow these instructions to install the ota profile. After that it should just work. I have mybloxx on my atv4hd right now

Since the topic of OTAdelayed came up here, I thought I would share my experience. I have an SE 2016 that was on 12.3.1 that I wanted to get to 14. After fiddling with various profiles, I was able to get to 14.8.1 using an edited iOS 15 beta profile. Maybe it can be done on tvOS as well. However, I am reading that many on vers. 13 are having trouble. I was on 12 going to 14. This was my process for iOS using checkra1n... (unc0ver gave me a verification error):

-Install SupervisedEnabler
-Install the beta profile (select "Restart Now" in popup)
-re-jailbreak
-Edit the beta Profile in Filza
-Restart (turn off and then on)
-re-jaibreak
-open checkra1n app and run RESTORE
-check Software Update
-after updating remove beta profile
-re-jailbreak... open Cydia, accept any Updates
-install SupervisedEnabler again, then immediately uninstall it

Yeah that's the worst part for me. And it takes a shit if you try and select scaling other than the default bilinear.

Infuse is great, I bought the lifetime package, no regrets except one day I will need to update my tvOS and lose my 4k jailbreak (13.4.5 u0) to get the latest update. Right now latest vers. 7 works on tvOS 13 but not on iOS (14 required).

if it's geolocated content there are a few providers that specialise with that sort of thing.

privacy is really a grey area with a lot of them: generally you're giving them your payment details and taking their word that they won't log your traffic & get breached or hand over your details to authorities on request, or even sell the info to marketing companies

last time i looked into it mullvad was highly rated for privacy and you can pay with bitcoin. still, you're taking their word for it that they don't log traffic.

you're not going to get a knock on the door from the FBI if the VPN provider logs your netflix traffic and hands it over to law enforcement
