I am using Infuse on various 4k's on 13.4.5 u0. I have downgraded the version to 7.1.3 because every version I've tried from 7.2 and higher I see stutter after pausing and resuming. Do you have the 4HD or 4k and any stutter exhibited?

I bought a lifetime plan... they dropped support for 13 but left the problem stutter issue unresolved in that version. So, without a jailbreak, the only solution is to downsave (only possible with a jb) or upgrading the tvOS. In my case, I would lose my jb cause I would be forced to tvOS 16. Not worth losing my jb for.

There's no need to be secretive about using a jailbroken ATV. Firecore has roots in the jailbreak scene. And, from what I recall they employed Nito to write the software for the install package back in the ATV 2 days.

But the latest software solves all the problems lol. As a test model, I have Infuse 6 on an HD model with 13.4.5 u0 and it plays back butter smooth but Infuse 7.2+ stutters on a 4k.

I still like Infuse (far better than VLC and Kodi for what I need it for). It's the one app I use daily. Aside from the stutter glitch which I do believe is inherent in their software but also it doesn't help being stranded on an older OS. I didn't mind paying the lifetime fee because I believe I will be using it eventually on a non-jailbroken ATV in tvOS 20+ lol. Unless development can come back here, we may all have no choice but to upgrade.

Using ldid -S /path/to/core.dylib and then adding it to your modules folder.
Makes it so you arent forced to update RA to get the latest cores. Also makes it way easier to add updated individual cores, especially if they are only included in ios/latest and not tvos/latest
Case in point, installing the new and improved mupen(n64) core on tvos!

One of my sports apps does not run on tvOS 13 anymore which is jailbroken with u0 13.4.5. It's a 4k and of course I cannot jump to 14.x. So, I used an older 4HD I had sitting on a shelf to get to 14.7 (I had blobs). And if I had to I'd use it unjailed on 16. But, what a hassle, I use this 4HD for just one sports app and the 4k for everything else. I need the 4k for x265 decoding.

With no jailbreaks on the horizon for ATV, I decided to look into upgrading to a TV with Google/Android TV. Unfortunately, when I check the sports app specs I find out that they stream in lower resolution on AndroidTV compared to a 2015 ATV 4HD, a device that is 7 years older!

So, it looks like I have to go with 2 devices for now for my setup. I certainly hope Coolstar, palera1n or the u0 team considers this platform again, but it's looking bleak.

SportsNet, it's only in the Canadian appstore though so not sure if you can access it. It requires tvOS 14 now. Strangely, on iOS the min is only 12. Go figure.

I do have that app running on a 4HD on 14. I was thinking if I could change the min OS version requirement to 13, then package it up and sideload it on the 4k that is on tvOS 13 if it would work. I realize it may or may not open due to missing dependencies. I have done this trick before on iOS with limited success. It's a hail mary.

Anyone use Infuse here? I know I can use Appstore to downgrade, but on the latest version it opens and closes immediately on tvOS 14. This happened a long time ago when I was on tvOS 12 or 13 and Nito gave a code to run from terminal but it no longer works. This is the code (keep the quotes) I used but not working on 14 now.

You could try dalesdeadbug tweak on Nito's repo. It worked for me on an older (different) app once. It hasn't been updated so it's a long shot. Aside from that, airplay is an option. I'm not a fan of airplay because it becomes cumbersome for others who want to quickly check and watch what's on the app.

I think what I left out was that I had previously once downloaded Disney+ just to check it out while it was at lower version (13 was the minimum at the time). But, I deleted it long ago since I never signed up for a subscription. So, attempting to download now will allow me to download a compatible version for tvOS 14 even though it says the min is now 15.3.

Reverting the filesystem won't do anything as Kodi installs in /var and reverting only affects root. If you want to reset Kodi, SSH in and type find /private/var/mobile/Containers/Data/Application -name “home” -type d --delete

Since I don't have a Disney+ subscription I can't login to get the same error as you. Have you tried to ssh into your ATV and manually change the app bundle version to the latest? I don't know what the latest is, but with some googling you could find it. Sometimes it will work, sometimes not.

After you ssh in I would check through all the files, sometimes there is another file where you have to change the min OS version. It's a long shot though.

I agree that 4k is marginally better than 1080. However, where the 4k atv really shines is HDR/Dolby Vision. I picked up a new Sony A80K OLED and the screen just comes alive with HDR. Also, x265 is important to me so while I have 2 jailbroken HD's on 14.7 I rarely use them nowadays compared to my 4k's.

I'm sure you troubleshot this... test a different file, test out of jailbreak mode, test match frame rate setting, test the appletv on a different tv or monitor.

I have a 1st gen 4k on 13.4.5 still and do not get freezing or stutter except on Infuse, I get occasional judder when subtitles are on.

it's definitely specific to the file but I have another file with the same issues. iirc both are hybrid remuxes

if you want I can share you the files or perhaps attempt to cut them to make them smaller so you can test for yourself

this newer file has a DV profile as far as I know but it reverts to HDR since infuse/atv cannot handle the newer dv profile

I have an AppleTV 4k, on 11.4.1

Probably there is something wrong with unc0verTV on 11.4.1
Firstly i installed u0 on 11.4.1 (apple tv 4k)
on the first extraction, (local apt error) an error occurred and failed to extract substitute, as substratesafemode saying was missing.
It exited, i rebooted.
second try overcome that error, but nothing appeared on the home screen.
Neither sources.list.d was created (as nito tv was not installed) and was a symlink to (var/mobile/library/caches/com.nito..) no folder

I managed to troubleshoot this issue by adding some sources, on electrabus.list
and then ssh into and run apt update and upgrade
substitute was appeared and also nitoTV was installed.
Except all of that now either im installing an tweak (eg. Reprovision) that has an icon, or either clicking Open from nitoTV no app is launching at all.

It's a shame, but as time passes without a jb for 15 or 16, the device becomes more jailed than freed as apps require a higher min OS to operate. I don't really use Kodi so for me the jb is becoming more and more restrictive. I've already been airplaying one of my sports channels from my phone for over a year now, but the experience sucks. Many times the stream will kick out, even with the phone screen sleep off.

There is no jb for tvOS 15 or 16. The 4HD and 1st gen 4k can only be jailbroken up to 14.7 but you need blobs and for the 4k a special breakout cable. The 4HD though can be jailbroken up to 13.4.8 without any special cable or blobs as Apple is still currently signing it. However, some apps no longer work under that OS anymore.
