What's a blob?

It is a file containing a special key specifically for that one device to allow downgrading to a specific firmware.
They're like golden tickets, but instead a digital signature made by Apple that was saved at the time when the signing window was open. If you possess one (or many), keep them safe.

How do they work?

They can be used in a program called futurerestore to restore to a firmware in which the SEP/Baseband is compatible. To check SEP/Baseband compatibility, check /tag sepbb.

Make sure to not use misleading sites.

Regardless of SEP/Baseband compatibility, any/all blobs should be saved for future downgrading abilities.

Can I save them now?
Of course. Blobs can be saved at any time, but it is crucial to save them when Apple releases new firmware, because they can only be saved for versions that are currently signed.There is one exception to this: if you are jailbroken and Apple has unsigned the version you're currently on, you may save onboard blobs for that version.

i tried to run checkra1n (which detects the device) but it doesn't work (when it tries to boot the screen switches from boot logo to recovery mode multiple times and then stays stuck on recovery mode)

Okay. No downgrade for me then. Stuck on 15.3, ended up in a bootloop on 14.5.1 thanks to a stupid FS mistake. PS don’t ever try to merge a folder with a system folder after accidentally pasting the folder you wanted to merge inside the system folder you were trying to merge with. Filza has a real “I shouldn’t have root access all the time” moment. Hit merge, overwrote my whole /usr/lib folder. Couldn’t ssh in to fix it with successor. Had to update. It’s all good though. I got other devices. Just sick & tired of 4 column springboard on a 6.1” iPhone. “Need moar iconz”

make sure u grab the correct one based on your boardconfig

bbfw will either have MAV.bbfw or ICE.bbfw and u grab according to if your device is gsm or global

just tried FR from 14.4.2 to 15.1.1 on 12PM and i get ERROR: Unable to restore device as well, tried both the beta version and the CLI one
