Issues on M1 Max

So I got a MacBook Pro with the M1 Max and everything is fine so far up until I tried checkra1n.

I can't for the life of me get it to work, I assume it has the same USB stack issues as the regular M1 but checkra1n never "detects the conditions that would cause this issue" and it doesn't "instruct the user to perform the replug". Just says it's checking if the device is ready, then the device reboots into stock iOS. Eventually checkra1n will complain about error -31 or something.

Btw im using an iPad Pro 12.9" 2017 (A10X) on iPad/iOS 14.6 and am also using an official lightning to USB-A cable with a USB-C to USB-A adapter to connect the cable

Hello! I jailbroke my IPhone X some months ago, but still have the Taurine app and never reset Rootfs. I want to remove it, though would prefer not to have to install all that iCloud and iTunes stuff on my pc. Would it be possible that i Boot Linux on USB and use checkra1n to jaiklbreak, then reset rootfs and finally delete Taurine?

If yes, what distro should I use?

If you're unable to restore rootfs the normal way, you can do it from a terminal (e.g. NewTerm or SSH).

Install Snappy from your package manager, then open a terminal and type snappy -o.

Odyssey/Taurine
Open a terminal and type sudo snaputil -r orig-fs /.
(This is not recommended, you may have to restore rootfs again from the app afterwards to be able to rejailbreak.)

Open a terminal and type /binpack/usr/bin/snappy -o.

With checkra1n 0.12.3 or above, you can also restore rootfs from your computer:

• macOS: /Applications/checkra1n.app/Contents/MacOS/checkra1n --force-revert

Checkra1n won’t really work for a7 devices on a Linux Host. You will need to do a replug trick and may even need to use an older version of Checkra1n.

Chimera/Odyssey/Taurine

Reboot, open Chimera/Odyssey/Taurine, toggle on "Restore RootFS", then tap "Jailbreak".

checkra1n/Odysseyra1n

Open the checkra1n app on your home screen and tap "Restore System". If the icon has disappeared or you get "Restore Error: General", reboot and re-jailbreak.

If the above methods didn't work, see /tag rootfscli for more options.

Make sure you are using the latest version of checkra1n, and enable allow untested version in the options. A11 users on ios 14+ will also need to enable skip a11 bpr.

Stuck on checking for device, or device won't go info dfu?
Make sure you're using a [usb-a to lightning cable](#bot-commands message) (as well as an adapter if needed). Use a pc with an intel cpu if possible, and don't use a VM.

I've done that manually and now I want to completely remove any trace of checkra1n. I see it has created at least the following: /private/var/checkra1n.dmg /private/var/dropbear_rsa_host_key /private/var/binpack. I haven't connected the phone to network, it's in airplane mode. would these go away by themselves on phone restart? I don't have a "restore system" menu item in checkrain. (It probably hasn't got to that step because I am in airplane mode?)

hm, the otaenabler postinst didn't seem to be sufficient - I still get Setting app hanging then I tap general - software update

so easy to jailbreak, so difficult to undo without phone restore

so I went ahead and simply deleted /private/var/checkra1n.dmg and /private/var/dropbear_rsa_host_key and rebooted. but now banking apps detect jb

so something more is done by checkra1n than what I was able to observe

if you installed Cydia from the loader or Sileo with odysseyra1n, then there will be a bunch of other folders in /var named apt, dpkg, cydia, etc.

also tweak preferences in /var/mobile/Library/Preferences

the best thing to do is just erase all contents and settings after restoring rootfs, but if you restore a backup after that it will still contain JB traces (unless the backup was taken in a fully clean state before you jailbroke)

simply erasing restoring an iCloud backup (even one with JB traces) will get rid of most apps' JB detection as it contains less than the live FS or an iTunes backup after a restore rootfs, but it's not perfect so some apps may still detect JB

Well it's a small ipad 9.7 wifi

I use it for before as drawing with procreate but mainly for vid watching with YouTube with adgaurd

Also don't have mush time as I use to to use it now just time for drawing band ad blocking lol
