Hey guys, I'm currently jailbroken with checkra1n on iOS 14.4.1 on my iPhone 7.
I'd like to use AirTags but they seem to need (at least
"need" ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ) iOS 14.8.
I don't know what to do to make them work, am I forced to update? If so, I have blobs saved for iOS 15 but I don't know if I should update right now or later

Yeah it has been a while since the original exploit was announced, checkm8… and sometimes we forget the original target devices. I think this is the reason why in the back of my mind, I opted to get an 8+ rather than a new iPhone SE- but I thought that the new SE’s used the same chip as the iPhone 8 I just wasn’t sure about that

I’ve used u0 and Taurine in the past, I switch occasionally depending on what I need to do. I was going to install Checkra1n using a popular tool that I cannot say the name of here. It apparently automate the process up to a certain point which is useful for me… I just need to read more installation tutorials before I try anything

Anyways the 8+ came with 14.6 so I’m not sure if I’m just going to wait and see if a 14.6 exploit is released. In the meantime it is kind of weird to operate an iPhone that is not jailbroken, Every single iPhone I have had I was able to jailbreak immediately including my original iPhone 2g.

Yah, 14.5, so you’re not quite able to use AirTags. I thought I had read about some tweak that allows you to use AirTags with devices under 14.5, but I haven’t been able to find what I saw. I thought it was in the Reddit sub.

Odysseyra1n is a modification for checkra1n which replaces the bootstrap with Procursus, the package manager with Sileo and the tweak injector with libhooker. TLDR: This has benefits such as speed, battery life and security.

Odysseyra1n fully supports iOS 12.x - 14.x, however, if you're on iOS 12.0 - 14.3, you can simultaneously use Odysseyra1n with Chimera (iOS 12), Odyssey (iOS 13) or Taurine (iOS 14) on their respective versions allowing you to switch between both jailbreaks and keeping your tweaks.

When using checkra1n on the iPhone 8/X running iOS 14 you will not be able to use any SEP features such as:

Passcode
Touch ID/Face ID
Apple Pay

When in a jailbroken state you can use BioProtect XS to protect your apps with Touch ID/Face ID and lockdown beta to use a fake passcode, but this is not real security, as the protection will disappear if someone simply reboots your phone.

however, does your iTunes recognize the device when it is connected?

make sure you have the latest version of itunes installed from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/win64

and not microsoft store or whatever else

and then try the Sideloadly process again

if this doesnt work out at all you can try installing unc0ver from the website jailbreaks.app right on your iPad

#

those versions did not work for my device but they may for yours

#

or you may have missed the first step and tried opening the .IPA file on its own, thats why it takes you to iTunes

if not, you may have to open the unc0ver app and press jailbreak again
