primal perch
#

Ok

tepid olive
#

oh so you actually made something to do it

primal perch
#

Yea I know

tepid olive
#

lol

primal perch
#

First tweak in years

#

New code

tepid olive
#

show

#

i am interested

#

and cba open ida

primal perch
#

I’m on mobile just slap it in ida 7.5

tepid olive
#

fine

primal perch
#

Karen could add it to appinst in 20 seconds half the code is the same

tepid olive
#

puts("AppUninstall v0.1 by shepgoba");

#

my man used labels

primal perch
#

I did not use labels

#

True

tepid olive
#

LDR X1, =sel_uninstallApplication_withOptions_

#

no fucking way

#

lmaoooo

#

bro

#

thats

#

ok

#

lol

#

stack protection

#

or some

#

yes

#

compiler added i would imagine

primal perch
#

Why you using light mode my guy

tepid olive
#

And graph mode ew

#

idk how change in ida

primal perch
#

Bro

tepid olive
#

hit space

primal perch
#

General > display or something

#

And select theme at the top

tepid olive
#

man i just pirated this shit to re your tool

#

Click the disassembly window and hit space

primal perch
#

True

#

Space view is way better for embedded

tepid olive
#

I fucking hate graph view it's unreadable that way

#

sooo much better

#

god damn it i need to learn assembly still

#

clang ceo of mov x29, x29 WaitWhat

#

:eye_rolling:

#

🙄

primal perch
tepid olive
primal perch
#

Pretty sure at least

tepid olive
#

its what

#

please explain so i can learn

#

I wonder what causes clang to emit mov x29,x29 lol

primal perch
#

and nop

tepid olive
#

It's essentially a useless instruction

#

useless operation*

primal perch
#

Alignment maybe

tepid olive
#

fr

primal perch
#

But idk why they’d put it in the function

tepid olive
#

no all instrs are 4 byte aligned it would have padded out the end of the fxn to align

#

write this in assembly then

primal perch
#

Yea but 16 byte alignments are better for some reason

#

Faster sometimes in some cases afaik

tepid olive
#

That's for the stack pointer

#

I miss ida and my computer 😭 apple store has that shit hostage

primal perch
#

I assume it’s there for a reason but idk why lmao

#

Compiler devs do know what they’re doing

tepid olive
#

lmao that must be a bug

#

There's no way there's an actual reason to emit mov x29,x29 lol

#

compiling with O3 produces cursed bins for me

do you have a moment to spare to talk about Nougat sir?

lime pivot

no sorry

surreal mountain
#

also @lime pivot

#

what did you actually change in the darwin theos branch shit

#

cuz literally has been flawless so far

primal inlet
#

no advertising shadfe zpeheri

lime pivot
#

the behavior between Darwin (previously for macOS) and Darwin-arm (iOS) were almost identical, just some very very minor differences that I could have handled easily in a single makefile

upper hull
#

@primal inlet whos that

lime pivot
#

so that’s what I did basically

surreal mountain
#

ah ok

#

im excited for procursus-strapped macs

lime pivot
#

I just gotta test I didn’t break iOS before merging

surreal mountain
#

thanks cloudflare 🙂

lime pivot
#

I tested it on my DTK so I know it works a treat on ARM

surreal mountain
#

DTK

#

how is that

lime pivot
#

terrible

#

it’s like you have the cool new thing but you can’t do anything useful with it

#

because it’s property of Apple and doesn’t have all the silicon optimisations the M1 got

#

nor iOS app store support

surreal mountain
#

lol

#

that sucks

lime pivot
#

and some are bricking because the clock battery dies in a few months for reasons unknown

#

you could just replace the battery it’s a standard CR2032

surreal mountain
#

bruhhhh

#

i really wanted to get a DTK

lime pivot
#

but you’re kinda not meant to open it up

surreal mountain
#

but something about no guarantee that im getting my money back was a bit worrying

lime pivot
#

yeah would not recommend lmao

surreal mountain
#

also im not 18 years old so i cant even actually get it myself

lime pivot
#

they haven’t said a word about returning them or whether we get some kind of trade-in deal

surreal mountain
#

i also dont have an apple developer account

#

so itd be 600

lime pivot
#

contract says you have to return it from a year after first sale, so, WWDC 2021

surreal mountain
#

itd be cool to keep one of them

#

but uhh

#

contract

#

i wonder if people have violated their contract and sold them anywhere?

lime pivot
#

LTT 😛

surreal mountain
#

thats ltt they dont gaf

lime pivot
#

I’m sure they won’t be getting back 100% of the units

surreal mountain
#

they can pay for damages

#

yeah i wouldnt think so

#

thats a pretty rare/cool unit to have imo

lime pivot
#

Linus got scared by an Apple legal threat and returned it to the person who sold it to them

surreal mountain
#

ah interesting

lime pivot
#

there’s a fair few of the Intel DTK still out there too

surreal mountain
#

have you even been using it

#

do you use it daily or just stick to the mbp

lime pivot
#

the one that’s just an Intel Desktop Boards motherboard customised to fit in a PowerMac G5 case

surreal mountain
#

lol

lime pivot
#

definitely just using the MacBook, the DTK wasn’t really even usable because so many things weren’t working even under Rosetta until recently

#

eg Chrome/Firefox didn’t even work under x86, and ARM builds didn’t exist

surreal mountain
#

interesting

#

even on m1 ive had my fair share of issues though

#

i use thinkorswim alot which is a java application

#

seems to have many memleaks

#

50GB+ used and then force quit pops up

lime pivot
#

that’s a limitation of the A12 that Chrome/Firefox didn’t work, Apple did a few neat things in the M1 silicon that fixed that and other x86 JIT apps

surreal mountain
lime pivot
#

hah that’s a sure way to fill up your disk

surreal mountain
#

its ram

#

its awful

#

less than optimal design as well

lime pivot
#

Thinkorswim by TD Ameritrade (often stylized and officially branded as thinkorswim, lacking capitalization) is an electronic trading platform by TD Ameritrade used to trade financial assets. It is geared for self-directed stock, options and futures traders. It was previously offered by ThinkorSwim Group, Inc., which was purchased by TD Ameritrade in 2009.
that just makes it even worse

surreal mountain
#

pressed one button and i cant tab back into it

#

lol

lime pivot
#

yeah, but when it fills your RAM it spills out into swap

surreal mountain
#

yeah true

lime pivot
#

swap is limited only by your available disk space

surreal mountain
#

wonder how long i could keep it going?

lime pivot
#

another way to fill up your disk is to open Console.app and leave it streaming overnight

#

Apple “fixed” it in Big Sur

#

by

surreal mountain
lime pivot
#

just displaying a warning that streaming will affect system performance

surreal mountain
#

lol

lime pivot
#

someone I know disassembled that app, it’s horrible

surreal mountain
#

which one

#

console?

lime pivot
#

most of the code is in a view controller

#

Console.app

surreal mountain
#

LLLL

#

me and aarnav are kinda slowly working on a replacement

#

but we havent done anything in a while

lime pivot
#

ah yes

surreal mountain
#

still need to fix that issue ourselves

lime pivot
#

mr aarnav asked me for ideas about that

surreal mountain
#

yeah

#

its either dump to disk or destroy it

#

neither of which are optimal

lime pivot
#

I said as long as it doesn’t fill up my RAM infinitely it’s already better than Console.app

surreal mountain
#

if its a live trading day, i can get my thinkorswim to get ~50GB in less than 5mins

lime pivot
#

feels a bit like the wrong tool for the job nowadays. needs to be rethought to work like Instruments, where you “record” for a short period of time and then write it to a file you can inspect now or save to open it later

surreal mountain
#

yeah i like that

#

or even with something like search, dump everything out except the stuff you searched for

#

yeah im beyond the point of no return now

#

we just wait for force quit to pop up

#

hahahahaha

#

i wonder if im working completely off of swap now?

Do you know of a way of running "alertWindowOne.hidden = YES" (this hides a uiwindow) through a button? I have this (shown below) but I forget how to pass "alertWindowOne.hidden = YES;" into a button to close the AlertWindow

        alertWindowOne.rootViewController = [UIViewController new];
        alertWindowOne.windowLevel = UIWindowLevelAlert + 1;

        UIBarButtonItem* button = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemDone target:self action:@selector(done)];

        TestViewController* c = [[TestViewController alloc] init];
        UINavigationController* n = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:c];
        n.modalPresentationStyle = UIModalPresentationFormSheet;

        n.navigationBar.topItem.leftBarButtonItem = button;

        // alertWindowOne.hidden = YES;

        [alertWindowOne makeKeyAndVisible];
        [alertWindowOne.rootViewController presentViewController:n animated:YES completion:nil];```

image widget horizontal

burnt niche
#

@twilit jungle like weather widget can be horizontally long

#

Lets say my image is landscape

#

So can i shape it like the weather widget

#

It cuts off

twilit jungle
#

Uhh, pretty sure the PhotosWidget expands as much as possible in both directions and if not it expands in one direction similar to how spacer widget works. So if you block it from growing vertically it should become "horizontally long."

C time

half walrus

it'd still need a bash script to compile the C 😛

#

or something

#

device logic moved into devices.py + state.yml['device'] so multiple devices can be stored and interacted with now

#

added some better keybased auth stuff and better add-device stuff

#

moved all of the ugly variables and functions out of the main script and into their own areas, main one just does arg parsing and calling functions now

#

no longer directory dependent so it can be located anywhere, completely removed the need for the hard-coded DRAGONBUILD directory envar

primal perch
half walrus
