Okay so you have ~/.bash_profile overwriting .profile when bash is the current shell and you have ~/.zprofile overwriting .profile when zsh is the current shell. For all other shells it'll use .profile.

If you run echo $SHELL it should print what shell its currently running (in this case, looking at the nav bar title it would be bash).

So you'd have to either modify ~/.bash_profile to add the export THEOS=<path to theos> or delete ~/.bash_profile so that it runs ~/.profile instead (recommended to do this if you are going to use multiple shells, would also have to delete ~/.zprofile)
