I've got 53.7GB available

But whenever I open Coolbooter it only lets me create a 3GB partition

And then the install eventually fails because it can't partition.

wait I have a genuine question for the people that have been in the JB community since IOS 6 (long time). I got a message on my old old iPod after recharging it for the first time, i believe its been jaikbroken since 2012-2014 somewhere in that time period. Once when I opened Cydia, the cydia loading screen was tiny and only on the top corner of my screen (not full) and a popup showed ONCE that it has timed out, or expired or something, and then Cydia never worked again. Unfortunately I can't help with with the stylus thing.
Two pieces of advice:
The iOS 8.4.1 "untether" is not that worth it IMO. The iPad may boot into the jailbroken state, but it takes mine 10+ minutes to boot. Also, sometimes it will freeze on the Apple logo and I have to force reboot to fix it.
CoolBooter worked fine on 9.3.5, but when I tried using it on 8.4.1, iOS 6 installed, but I couldn't actuallt boot into it. The boot button did nothing.

Alright, I see some notable reasons to not go to 8.4.1, so that’ll be fine on my end. Now, burning question: If I can downgrade to iOS 6.1.3 (with iOS-OTA-downgrader I suppose), I can get to install very old apps to it with my Apple ID with apps that I installed onto a newer device, right?

That's correct, yes! However, I'd personally recommend to coolboot iOS 6 instead so you have both old app compatibility (iOS 6) and newer features (iOS 9). Some tweaks are exclusive to each version.
Since I recommended against going to 8.4.1, I would recommend against going to 6.1.3 even more strongly.
As for apps, not even all 32-bit apps work for both. I tried playing Angry Birds on iOS 6 coolbooted, and it crashed on launch. Some other apps work on 9 and not on 6 and vice versa. Interestingly, the older firmware may support only an older version of an app, which can sometimes be better than the newer updates of the app, as in my case. I'll post an image as an example.

@bold jungle this will let your device always boot into the coolbooted firmware. you just have to hold the volume down button when booting to go back to your original os. Since all firmwares older than 9.3.5 can be jailbroken untethered (on 32-bit devices), chances are that the coolbooted OS will come with a preinstalled jailbreak.

I coolbooted to 6.1.2 the first time, but it did not install with Cydia, so I uninstalled it and installed 6.0 and that came with Cydia. Also, I used the latest version of the tweak and it worked fine, so I think 1.6 should be fine 🙂

About coolbooter’s version, the latest version didn’t let me boot into my iOS 6 install, so I downgraded to the last 1.4 version and that worked.

Will be definitely looking forward to run emulators on it, especially to make my iCade Core finally usable (and fun!) I bought it back in 2020 (few months before the pandemic started) and, because it was bluetooth, I thought I could pair it with my Samsung tablet. Turns out, the OG iCade was compatible with Android, but the core wasn’t. I did get an iPhone 6 and finally tried it out, but the screen was too small to enjoy gameplay.
