have you checked whether the deprecated video capture device source works? it can be found when adding a source in the "deprecated" folder. it works slightly differently so it could perhaps have different behavior

yes i selected both and the difficult thin is that they both have the same name, im sure that i selected both as one its working with those settings and if i put same setting and select it in another source it will show, but the other no. and i see that in the log there is only one serial running

im seeing three different camera UUIDs there

unfortunately i don't think i'll be able clearly tell what's going on here without being able to reproduce it locally

there should not be any issue with identical camera models in OBS, as they all have different UUIDs, which is how OBS disambiguates them. i do not know why you'd be having difficulties

im not sure why its doing this because before the update was working fine with version 28 of obs but i had to update the mac as i needed to run a few app not compatible with the older os. now for example non of the camera works. i need to find a way to change the name of the cameras to see if is going to work or not. thanks for the help for the moment.

Hey all - I just tried recording an interview using OBS and VDO.Ninja and I keep getting some of the same issues I've ran into in the past.

On my OBS monitor, everything looks great. The video is being captured, there's no hiccups, etc.

After I go watch the video to record, it froze. The audio is recorded but the video is just a single still frame. I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. Would someone be kind enough to help me with this?

okay so it looks like my GPU is the issue. It says that the biggest user of my GPU is OBS and Google Chrome Helper. But I only have 4 tabs in Chrome opened. Is there something more I need to figure out here?

you're using an intel mac mini. that machine is generally very underpowered for what you're asking it to do, and isn't really designed for real-time streaming or recording. if you want to use it you'll likely have to radically simplify your scenes and sources and maybe lower your resolution when encoding

When you say simplify sources and scenes, does it mean I need to remove the heavy assets (like video backgrounds) completely, or is simply making it invisible good enough?

in the case of media sources specifically, if you have them set to "close file when inactive", they shouldn't use resources when they aren't visible

for other source types, that's usually not true, and they will continue to use resources even when not visible

filters and browser sources can also use a very significant amount of resources at times. there is usually not a silver bullet

Okay I appreciate it! To be safe, I'll remove the more intensive piece of medias and see how that performs. I'll probably recreate/dupicate the scene collection so I can preserve the original set up but try to reduce it with the duplicate one. Does that seem like a good plan, you think?

i cannot really recommend this, because it's not really stable or supported, but in theory you can change scene collections in the middle of recording as well, so you could try treating scene collections as scenes; if that makes sense, since other scene collections won't use any resources if they aren't currently loaded

Hey, I’m having an issue with the Recursion Effect plugin on macOS.
The plugin loads and appears in OBS (and in the logs as “recursion_effect_filter”), but it has no visible effect at all, no matter what settings I use (even extreme values like scale 0.5).
System:

I already tried reinstalling, using a clean scene, different sources, etc.

the issue is you aren't on the latest version of MacOS. I would download it and install the latest version because I use OBS on a Macbook Pro M series and I have 0 problems on MacOS 26. Older OS versions have the issue where OBS would be open and the battery would drain but that issue is fixed

I'm having a problem with my live stream. I am trying to live stream a church service, and OBS keeps crashing. I have it fully updated, and the only plugin is obs-ptzcontroller, and I have it disabled. I'm using a ptz camera for the stream. The input from ProPresenter isn't working, either. The biggest problem though, is the crashing. Every time I try to add an input, I close a settings window, or anything like that, it crashes. My CPU and RAM loads are very low, so it isn't a problem with the computer. Can anybody help?

Here is my flow chart
Computer > Monitor HDMI 1
PS5 > HDMI Splitter > Capture card & Monitor HDMI 2.
OBS has an internal loop when they are both plugged in but fine with only one plugged in. is my spitter the problem?
This used to work just fine with no audio issues.
I feel like there is a hidden audio channel somewhere causing this but can't find it.

I only downloaded it 2 months ago, and everything is slowly breaking. first, display capture abruptly stopped working, then my internal audio also stopped working, so I deleted the 1 audio captures I had and made new ones, only worked for a solid 2 minutes before shutting down again, then my window capture also stopped working, s I've resorted to application capture, but I still don't know how to fix my audio. Hello! I'm new to OBS and am trying to add the music I'm playing in Apple Music in my stream. The search I did on internet sait to use macOS Screen Capture. But I added it and it does not let me choose any display or application. I want the music on a separate track so it does not go into my vods (I know how to do this). Hi all. I'm setting up a new computer for OBS, and in the past I've used NDI for sending graphics over the network from another computer running ProPresenter. At times I've been really unhappy with the Network latency. As I've been setting the new computer up I found out there's something called Syphon2NDI, which allows me to run Syphon on the initial machine, and then send it over the network as I have been (Syphon not normally being a network app). Has anybody used this option? If so, was it worth the effort; or am I just setting up a faux NDI client that is taking the Syphon signal off the other computer? Can I set up both plugins in OBS, and then try them side by side to see the differences? Origin machine is a 2020 Quad i5 MBP and recipient machine is a 2026 M5 MBP with tons of memory and SoC.

Does anyone know why when I close OBS, no matter HOW i do it, it always tells me that it was closed unexpectedly? This issue has been happening since I got it. Minus maybe about 2 weeks before another update came around and now that issue is back.

It sounds like maybe the app is not fully closing out completely; or there's an issue with the installation. Make absolutely sure there's no "black dot" underneath the OBS icon on the dock when you close the computer. If there's none visible then try and reopen OBS again to see if it gives you that same error message. If so, I'd probably try uninstalling, and then reinstalling again.

I am already familiar with OBS a bit. But this is what I got to ask:
encountered a strange thing when I connected an iPad to my Mac.
When I tried to establish a screen capture of the iPad in OBS, that worked – but disrupted the charging of the iPad. And after closing OBS and re-launching it again, the iPad screen capture entry doesn't work immediately, but I have to fit in the settings to let it reappear.
Maybe someone knows what could be wrong?

When I open obs, my audio input device sounds all glitchy and weird. If I disconnect the USB and reconnect the USB (which directly into the back of the Mac not in a hub) while obs is open, the audio then comes through properly. If I close obs then re open obs the issue immediately happens again, and I have to unplug and replug the USB again.

This doesn't happen with other digital encoder apps, it's exclusively happening with obs.

Any ideas?

posted this in windows support, but it may belong here. new to obs and trying to use in on my gspro golf sim for floor projection. Currently i have stats and shot impact data on the floor captured from theo the other monitors. I would like to take the shot data and only display it after the shot. Before the shot, when the alignment arrows turn green, i would like to capture the player name and display a message, player Joe Ready to Hit. then switch back to shot impact stats. GSpro is on monitor 1, shot impact is on monitor 2, and floor projection is on monitor 3. I would even be happy with leaving the shot impact staying in place on displaying the ready to hit only while the allignment arrows turn green. thanks in advance.

I'm getting the black screen on my Mac when I connect to my capture card. I've looked up many tutorials and tried unplugging the USB from my capture card, still no help. I'm attaching screenshots:

I'm able to capture my browser windows and such on OBS, but I can't get the actual gameplay footage from my xbox series s onto OBS. Tried removing OBS from the Mac screen recording permissions, then adding it again, etc. Nothing seems to help. I wonder if the capture card I got is too cheap? I believe it is a UVC if that matters, but I can double check if that's the issue.

this functionality is sort of built into macOS, or at least one way of doing it might work for you. you should be able to do "show keyboard viewer" here

then, using the ellipsis in the top right of the viewer, you can hit "customize..." and create custom viewer panels with only the keys you want to have shown

(then you can simply create a macOS screen capture for the viewer window, and optionally use color key to make it transparent)

I recently upgraded to a new MacBook Pro for our streaming service (using OBS) and am setting up the old computer for someone to use in ProPresenter, and NDI to send me graphics. Today, I've been testing it out and ran into a few glitches. One thing I'm having a problem pinning down is audio being sent through NDI.

On the OBS computer I can see volume input from the NDI source, and when I look at the file recorded, either through "Record" or "Stream" the sound IS there. However, when I'm trying to monitor it at the time it's being fed to me via NDI, I am not hearing anything whatsoever.

Checking the Advanced (Audio) Properties within OBS, the NDI source is set for "Monitor and Input" with all six channels being checked.

Any ideas what I'm missing?

In SYSTEM SETTINGS --> SOUND --> OUTPUT I have the options for "External Headphones" if I have them plugged in, or I can also use "MacBook Pro Speakers." I was trying both of those earlier when I was getting no audio.

FWIW, I have "Blackhole 64ch" set for when I'm at the church to route sound from LogicPro; which is what I would normally use with our Behringer xUSB card. But, I'm not there tonight so was using the headphones and speakers

My church has been using OBS on a Windows computer but they recently purchased a Mac due to the Windows computer being quite old and the sound design and band people all wanting to go Mac. 🤷‍♂️
1: Any suggestions/recommendations for this process generally?
2: I wasn't the one to setup OBS originally and am generally just an operator of the system rather than someone configuring it, but that person is not available to help anymore. Can I bring over all the previous settings, camera setup, scenes, etc in some easy way or do I need to learn how to do all that from scratch?

If you're moving from Windows to Mac then yes you need to rebuild all your scenes and plugins,etc for your Mac as it's a different operating system

Start by selecting one pic, then doing CMD+R. Do it for the other one after. That will reset the changes that have smashed each picture. Then screenshot again.

The sources are in layers, so once you crop the one you see here, then you will see the other source behind/beside it.

To crop a source in OBS Studio, there are two options:
A. Crop the source directly by holding Alt/Option and dragging the source's resize handles. The sides turn green to indicate they are cropped. Note: the preview and source must be unlocked.
B. Add a Crop Filter to crop the source prior to applying other filters. Note: this filter applies to every instance of the source, regardless of scene.

Yup. You will just need to experiment a little to see how you want things to be placed.

The pictures you are using are all the same aspect ratio (rectangle shape in fancy words) as the canvas are in OBS. So you have to get creative when putting the pics where you want.

Or you could have a little black space, viewers won't mind. It's better than bright white space LOL

Try going to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Extensions. Look for a section called "Media Extensions" or "Camera Extensions." Explicitly toggle OBS to ON here. If it's "activated waiting for user," it won't show up in any browser.

And make sure you're using Chrome.

Hi, I have a technical question about OBS's compatibility.
I'm in China using a local broadband connection, and I want to use OBS to stream to a TikTok Vietnam RTMP server (the server URL and stream key are from TikTok Vietnam).
Does OBS support this scenario where the streaming endpoint is in Vietnam but the encoder is in China on a regular home network?
Will OBS experience lag, frame drops, or disconnection because of the long geographical distance, or does OBS simply send the stream as long as the RTMP URL and key are correct, leaving all network latency issues to my ISP?

Thx, easier to read that way. I see there's a background removal plugin installed in OBS, but it is not applied to any sources. Can you check the MacOS settings for the cam please? You can screenshot if you want an extra set of eyes on it.

It's possible and likely the other programs you mentioned can be immune to the effects.

I have used background removal in the past, but I removed all of them, infact I tried uninstalling OBS and starting clean, but still have this problem

Facetime is an integrated MacOS app, it's quite possible for it to ignore the background blur set in the OS.

I can't say for sure, of course, but we should double check it.

macOS system effects on devices are "per-application". you'll have to disable them while OBS is open to disable them. from the sound of it, that's indeed what's going on here, and the link above is accurate for how to disable them (there's also this article which has basically the same info)

Hello everyone,

I have an issue I can't seem to solve. I suspect it might be a bug in the latest version, as I've never experienced this problem before.
Context: I am working on macOS 26.4.1 Tahoe.

Issue 1:
I use Social Stream Ninja to display my live stream chat. I created a Custom Browser Dock and entered the URL. I then docked the window inside the OBS interface. So far, so good; this has always worked perfectly.
However, now whenever I close and reopen OBS, the dock disappears completely. I have to re-enable it from the menu and reposition it within OBS every single time.

Issue 2:
I use OBS Studio exclusively to stream to my YouTube channel. For convenience, rather than entering the stream key for every single live broadcast, I connected my account directly to OBS. This has always worked flawlessly too.
But again, when I close and reopen OBS, the connection to my YouTube channel is gone, and I am forced to reconnect the account all over again.

Summary:
Basically, every time I close OBS, it completely "forgets" the windows I had docked and the account connection. I am asking for support because this is driving me crazy.
I have already tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling everything, but it yielded no results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

• PS5 (HDCP off)
• Elgato 4K S capture card
• OBS Studio on Mac
• Elgato Wave Neo mic
• Elgato Chat Link Pro + wired headset into
  PS5 controller

I have connected everything correctly on the wire management side. But the single issue is
OBS only captures game audio when PS5 audio output is set to HDMI/TV.

When I switch PS5 audio to “Headset (Controller)” for Chat Link Pro use:
- Headset audio works fine (I can hear
game sound)
- OBS stops receiving ALL game audio

If this community does not have advice on it I would love if someone could send me to the right one.

i'm having trouble with themes after updating. i have always had it set to system so i could use mac's own light mode with my preferred highlight colour. this is the easiest for me to read.

the website is showing that i should be able to check "system" but it is only showing yami theme. i also tried installing another theme and it isn't showing up either. i restarted the app and my computer but cannot see the "system" option or the new theme i tried (neon)

i tried putting it in the OBS folder in library\application support as well as in resources\themes

imo if we cannot use our system defaults, this is an accessibility issue for people with various vision issues

However I'm not familiar with the systme hence my question here. Can you use a regular camera (like a Sony a7iv) instead of a webcam? I want to have high enough quality for the stream. i'm not on MacOS, but in general from 1 -10% depending on your scene collection. How many sources are and especial browser sources.

More CPU if you are using software encoder instead of the hardware encoders. Then of course that will tank your CPU heavy.

i got a weird thing on my Mac Mini M4 wit macOS Tahoe 26.5: Everytime when i start OBS i receive the Message that OBS would like to Access Data from other Apps - all the Permissions are given. And another One: I must with every Start connect my Twitch Account. Maybe a clean OBS install is ahead.

I did a completely clean OBS reinstall on my Mac Mini M4 running macOS Tahoe 26.5.

The repeated “OBS wants to access data from other apps” message is now gone, so the permissions issue seems fixed.

However, OBS still does not keep the Twitch account connection after restarting the app. I have to click “Connect Account” every single time OBS starts.

The interesting part:

• Stream Key mode works perfectly and stays saved
• OBS settings are saved correctly
• But the OAuth/Twitch session is never persisted

Also, no OBS-related Twitch OAuth entries appear in macOS Keychain Access — only my Elgato Stream Deck Twitch token exists there.

So this now looks more like an OBS OAuth / Chromium Embedded Framework / macOS Tahoe issue rather than a broken OBS install or permissions problem.

Hello. I tried the OBS forums but zero luck sadly; Audio Glitching toward end of alerts etc. Hi, PLEASE can someone advise. The only way to stop the audio glitching is to either turn off "control audio via OBS" or to have an alert etc not have audio in the first place. Hello everyone,

I have an issue I can't seem to solve. I suspect it might be a bug in the latest version, as I've never experienced this problem before.
Context: I am working on macOS 26.4.1 Tahoe.

Issue 1:
I use Social Stream Ninja to display my live stream chat. I created a Custom Browser Dock and entered the URL. I then docked the window inside the OBS interface. So far, so good; this has always worked perfectly.
However, now whenever I close and reopen OBS, the dock disappears completely. I have to re-enable it from the menu and reposition it within OBS every single time.

Issue 2:
I use OBS Studio exclusively to stream to my YouTube channel. For convenience, rather than entering the stream key for every single live broadcast, I connected my account directly to OBS. This has always worked flawlessly too.
But again, when I close and reopen OBS, the connection to my YouTube channel is gone, and I am forced to reconnect the account all over again.

Summary:
Basically, every time I close OBS, it completely "forgets" the windows I had docked and the account connection. I am asking for support because this is driving me crazy.
I have already tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling everything, but it yielded no results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

it's not as difficult as that; in system settings, under general->login items and extensions, there is a flow for removing extensions from applications. alternately, simply dragging OBS to the trash will also uninstall the system extension (cc @potent lark )

Okay so I've made a new scene collection. Added the alerts source, the one that would "cause" the issue. Added my audio input for music and my cams. Ran the alert and there is no audio issue that I can tell. However, this now means it might be something else? If the solution is to build the OBS setup from start again...? This could take weeks 🙁

It's so nice to hear it clearly, you make lovely music.

So i think what's happening is that there are many many sources and filters in your scene collection, probably using a lot of CPU which can cause rendering lag.

A good way to find what's misbehaving (if any certain sources) is using the Source Profiler plugin. This adds a little dock where you can see how sources are using resources. https://github.com/exeldro/obs-source-profiler/releases/tag/0.0.9

It's a tangent but ye, I have 6 cams, called Cam 1, Cam 2 etc. Cams that that are the DJI's, I have to add a new source to the scene, select the camera I want to work again, it then works, then I can delete the new source I made cos now the original cam source is working again.

The only thing with scene collections is that you don't want to change scene collection during a stream/recording session. If you have different kinds of streams you do at different times, spearate SCs is helpful. I have a rather weak PC so I have to do that

If it is truly CPU getting overloaded, the kinds of sources that use a lot of it are:

• Video files with transparency
• Audio filters
• Browser sources (even with hardware acceleration on, still uses some)

I am having an issue with seperate audio tracks. I have 2 mics connected to my Behringer 404HD (audio interface) that is then connected to my mac.

I would like each mic to have a separate track, however when i to add an audio capture device only one option (Behringer 404HD) is shown. There is no different inputs.

If anyone knows how to fix this and have each of my mics from my audio interface be in separate tracks. Thank you so much
