I remember on the old obs.live version, if you updated to a newer OBS, the uninstaller would refuse to complete. I remember having to tell people they have do downgrade to OBS25, then run the obs.live installer 😦 Hopefully that is not the case here tho. Im sure streamElements people would know better than I do (this is quite a long time ago)

That would be helpful as well. I have two scenes, in Scene A the audio levels should be normal, but in Scene B I would want the audio levels to be at 50%. Transitioning back to Scene A, the audio levels go back to normal.

Anything Websocket can do, you can do in a script. Just a matter of knowing a bit of json from time to time if NOOBS Cmdr/OBS command doesn't directly support it 🙂

So I have a script automatically generate a VLC source with a playlist of videos during my stream (sports highlights) that I need to show at the end of each period.
This works fine, except that between each of the 4~ second clips there is like 1 frame of the vlc source outputting nothing, causing it to look horrible whilst transitioning. Any ideas how to fix that?

As in; regardless of where the object is vertically - it'll always move horizontally to whereever is set.

I guess you can do relative movement? but it wont allow a specific set coordinate - it'll be relative. And as always - if something is fired twice the relative will keep going.

OBS has this issue where it'll hang (not crash) indefinitely if you try to switch from one large/medium size Scene Collection, to another medium/large sized scene collection.

The fix there is to switch to an empty Scene Collection first.

  1. Install VB-Audio CABLE. (A reboot is not required)
  2. In OBS Studio, go to Settings > Audio and select "CABLE Input" as your Monitoring Device
  3. Go to Edit > Advanced Audio Properties and enable Audio Monitoring for the audio sources you'd like to stream to Discord.
  4. In Discord, in Voice & Video settings, select "CABLE Output" instead of your microphone under "Input device".

Now anything you monitor in OBS Studio will be streamed to Discord. Similar steps will work with other conferencing apps, such as Microsoft Teams or Slack.

DSKs purpose is to be visible on all scenes, usually used for lower thirds etc stuff that is visible despite what scene you're on.

Valve has implemented a Trusted mode which does not allow OBS to hook CS:GO using Game Capture. Read more in their announcement post. Additionally, they have no plans on allowing OBS in Trusted mode.

We recommend running the game in either windowed or borderless fullscreen and using a Window Capture source instead.

Alternately, you can launch the game with -allow_third_party_software .

I've gone back to messing with the Source Record plugin, and after 27.1.1 it is somehow magically (yay?) not breaking my scene collection anymore.

There's a few UX things I wanna list here in case you at some point want to update the plugin.

  1. Filter Settings not updating settings.
    If you go into the Source Record filter you've added, and do any change (change replay buffer duration, folder path etc) it does not update the settings. You're forced to hide filter/show filter to get the changes to work. At least on my end.

  2. Making any change resets the hotkey for the replay buffer
    Goes without saying that having to set, or rather remember to set, the hotkey again after you go in and change the path, bitrate or buffer duration and so forth - without having changed the filter's name - is something that might've been a slight oversight.

Other than that, it seems to so far be, just, working. I am of course a little worried about performance and such using the old NVENC, and am unsure of how many instances of NVENC you can run like this. But doing 2 POVs so far in testing I haven't run into any issues.

My OBS has been crashing when I go to exit the application. I'm 99% sure it's the ShaderFilter plugin that's causing it. I don't do anything complicated with it, I just have vignetting shaders on my scenes but when I go to exit OBS the window says, "Not responding" and the application doesn't close until I force it through Windows.

TBH the only program that I know of that will recognize a viewer is in your channel is Stream Avatars, and that's if you have it selected to viewers. However, it doesn't greet the viewers. It just adds a new avatar to your screen

I've been trying to setup a Media Source with a hotkey to change the 'speed' so I can effectively add slow motion (with audio), but I cant seem to find anything that will get this desired effect.

the use case is fairly straight forward, replay buffer captures a small 10s clip, I switch to scene to play that clip and then hit another hotkey to change the playback speed of media source.

most common issue is that the OBS you are using is not in the same location as you choose to install it. Double check that its the right location. By default it should populate with the correct path automatically

To crop sources in OBS Studio, first reset the source to its default size by clicking on it and pressing ctrl+r. Then hold the alt key and drag the red box around the source you wish to crop. The sides will turn green to indicate they are cropped. Note that the preview must be unlocked in order to do this.

@north sail i think i was able to convince lioranboard to do this, but it's rather complicated and i forgot the exact details on how it's done; after setting up lioranboard i created a button that launches obscommand, which in turn triggers the desired command (or hotkey) in obs-studio via websockets, but i don't remember what i had to do to make it react to twitch chat messages

I know streamlab chatbot + OBS remote parametet can do that, but OBS remote parameters doesn't support filter control.

Hi there 🙂 I have been having a problem last couple of weeks - I use OBS-NDI. I have 2 machines - a gaming machine and a streaming machine. All overlays etc are on the streaming machine. Only the game is on gaming machine. I am having a problem with there being a lag between the 2. Normally There is about 1/2 second delay between the 2 but for the last couple of weeks that delay grows as time goes on. The sound kind of stutters from time to time and the delay grows. The worst the delay has been is about 15 seconds. Obviously not very good at all. Any ideas please ?

According to NDI's document, it is suggested to use NTP. And if you have NTP installed on your local network, streams can be synchronized between multiple machines with very high precision.

Well because we got a big load of users since our resource is getting more poplular, not only because of the OBS forums. Our hosting was not really able to handle it so we now only allow users that really seem to be interested

Inactive accounts automatically get deleted by some kind of a self written garbage collector so we do not save any data that's not relevant anymore

The sign up is still part of the product though. And if the user is not able to use the product without a sign up, it can be their opinion that it's a bad product.

The same is true why I don't buy an Oculus. I think it's a bad product because I need a fkin Facebook account to use it. I'm too lazy to leave a review somewhere but if I had found that out after buying it, I would leave a bad review too period.

I don't see "ask for approval" anywhere in there and that is the premise you advertise it to users as. If you added "Due to high demand and limited resources the number of unused accounts creates you must ask for access" There would not have been much discrepancy between what that user could expect and what they got. That is my take at least.

latest OBS version and latest NDI version works fine on win10 for me. This probably has not been tested on win7, so I have no idea if that works or not.
This is all presuming that the CPU works alright with NDI (I think this is what you're claiming, yeah?). I looked into some old threads, and they seem to only mention SSSE3. Maybe it was some other newtek software that required AVX

judging by the long post you wrote yesterday, it sounds more like network congestion or cpu overload.
Make sure you're using a good gigabit switch, and that both computer have gigabit link (check both).
Tracking CPU usage is kind of a pain, so you can do that after you've ruled out the first point (network).
Other than that, someone tipped that sync'ing both computer to the same time (NTP server) may be beneficial for sync problems. (again, I think its networking).

I believe the "Low latency" option is going to be way more sensitive to "bad stuff", like congestion and tiny blips of high cpu load etc. If it works for you, then great. Yeah, I would expect it to be lower latency, of course 🙂

The game machine is an i5 atm - My i7 crashes in warm weather and has to go back under guarantee

So ALL my kit is pretty dated. Streaming machine is a Dual Core Pentium !!! So you MAY well be right about cpu load but as I said it's been working fine for months and months.

sure, and it might be working well for most stuff, but if you launch some extra software, or there is some content/game that is more CPU hungry than others, then that could easily explain it. The load will also continually flucuate. Some background task needs something, windows decides its time to update, re-index, re-do something

hi, about the ndi issue i talked in #windows-support yesterday regarding obs ndi eating up internet on 1 pc making the other pc offline or have really low data.

i tried using ndi hx caputure and it seems to work normally like it used to work on win 10, seems its a win 11 issue for obs ndi plugin. i guess i dont needa buy a gigabit switch.

is there any updates on when the obs-ndi update would be released?

the ndi hx app uses h264 or equivalent codec thru hardware encoding, which means less bandwidth spent. There may be a hit to latency tho, but that could certainly explaint it.
Not sure if the plugin developer has any intention of building a similar solution. Not sure how much work that would be, but sure, that could be nice

eh, I use it 2 weeks out of the year extensively, and then just here and there. I dont daily drive it like some of ya'll so yeah, maybe a fair point.
Not sure you can pin that on the plugin tho. I feel like that might be more to do with the underlying technology and nature of congestion/blips in troughput (cpu or otherwise).

Just what issues there are.

The progressive local desyncing seems to be handled by artificially adding delay over time. Not a very nice solution but I'm not even sure if that's OBSs end, technology or plugin.

And audio desyncing from the actual feed itself is thankfully not super common. I've had it happen once or twice (like Yolo) with seemingly no reason as to why it occured.

yeah, I think thats what the delay is there for. To keep A/V sync. When a circumstance occurs where either hitches, or gets delays, then you kind of just have to delay the other thing, or drop frames/skip to get ahead again (or maybe that wont work, is not a good idea/hard)

The Internal option was removed at 4.9.0 so that the latest version does not have. You need to downgrade to 4.8.0.

Though, if the low latency is working on your side, I think it's ok to just use that settings.

Ive been using NDI for a few months now, every Friday - Monday, and have rarely if every ran into desync issues. Im using Source Timing, and am sending 2 NDI streams from my Gaming PC to the OBS pc. I am using a separate analog hardware mixer for audio coming from the soundcard of the gaming PC. Never heard a single complaint about audio desync either.

Im possibly the exception and not the rule, but NDI has been wonderful for my workflow

OBS pc is a Ryzen 7 1700x with a Radeon R9 390. Gaming pc is a Ryzen 5 1600 with an RTX 2060. Network is gigabit and both systems are connected to the same network switch.

Waito is it recommend to have it on a network switch? I have it connected on the main router for both of my pc. I thought you use a network switch if you run out of lan ports to plug to? The same way how you use a usb hub. When you run out of slots to plug ? Or is there something else to it?

often times the cheapo routers that people have do not have gigabit ports. You could run it thru your router, assuming it has gbit on enough ports, but let me tell you some routers... They are not really up to snuff 😅 If you enable a service or two on it, then all of as sudden its having performance issues even doing simple tasks, like passing traffic for a couple of machines. Keep an eye on it, and im usually always a bit skeptical of how much technology they manage to cram into this tiny box at 50 USD. Gotta cut cost somewhere

my router is in another room, and i have a Cat6 cable connecting my router to the network switch, which is on a shelf above my Gaming and OBS PCs.

A router is only needed to deal with sending traffic from your network to the internet and back.

You could have a closed network with JUST a switch, assign IP addresses manually, and it would work perfectly fine as well. You couldn't stream to Twitch/YouTube, but NDI would work fine 😄

sure, but you could also just connect the switch and router. On-link (same subnet) traffic would not need to pass by the firewall/router, and shoudl be nice and quick. Only traffic that needs to go to the inet would pass by the fw/router

Hey, I have a question.

Does anyone know of an app or extension to obs/twitch that, real time, count specific spoken words?

I have a stream where I would want a count, with a ping, happen everything a certain set of words are spoken.

I don't mind setting the ping and counter up via touch portal, if that's the only option, but I need something that auto-count the words.

so i got a question... i made a 25 minute webm video that has a 5 sec transparency video "overlay" that plays every 5 minutes... and when i import it into obs it looks great but skips the transparency sections. Plays the 5 sec overlay, then skips to the next without waiting the 5 minutes.. is there a setting im missing where it should play the entire 25 minute video "looped" and repeat it? thank you

Or does someone have a tool where i can plug in 5 videos on a timer to play every 5 minutes?

Hi! I use OBS studio for broadcasts in the parish I attend. We have a multistream plugin that lets you stream to Facebook and youtube at the same time. If eventually Youtube goes down and disconnects but facebook remains connected, how do I reconnect YouTube only?

To cleanly remove the OBS.live plugin:

  1. Uninstall OBS.Live
  2. Uninstall OBS Studio (make sure that "User Settings" is not selected)
  3. Install OBS Studio again from https://obsproject.com/
    Your settings will be saved unless you have selected to delete them during removal.
