Okay that’s fine. I just wanted to know like is there any rules or guidelines I can go look at to comply with the licensing laws for releasing script for OBS users. Like you have OBS documentation etc is there any specifically on what to do after you have completed your project

if you want to be sure there's no license issue, put your script under a license that's GPLv2-compatible. Since OBS itself is GPLv2, that ensure compatibility with obs licensing no matter what you do.

Depending on what you do, it is possible that your script isn't bound by obs' own license and that you could make it proprietary or smth, but if you want to be sure of that, ask an IP lawyer, I am no such thing.

The OBS name and logo are registered so you shouldn't use them as part of your script.

That has nothing to do with any updates. You run obs in a flatpak "Sandbox". The plugin needs special permission to "see outside" of it.

Im not sure if this is where to ask but long story short is I have a rodecaster pro 2 and I have installed asio and obs asio plug in. I am trying to set up the google to an asio input capture because the google will be my music. So my question is does anyone know the obs channel that I should use example Pro II main multitrack 1-20? Ive used 9 for my sound pads and I used 3 for my Mic I just dont know what to use for the google music

So, fwiw, I've used an RCP2 since it launched with OBS and I don't bother with ASIO to OBS as it's just easier (and delivered better results for me) to make the RCP2 the last word in my audio chain and OBS just gets ONE audio input - the RCP2's main device - so OBS doesn't have to worry about it. The mixer does the mixing. 🙂

If you're on Windows or Mac, it's pretty straightforward to use the "virtual device drivers" that will give you several more channels on top of what you get out of the box. (I've done this on CashyOS too but that takes a lot more legwork first and some comfrot with pipewire configuration files.)

Doing that, the pads have their own channel, effectively; and the mics and other inputs can get sorted out to the virtual devices. (I put one browser on Chat for collab sessions, one browser on System or Music if it's doing my bg music, A and B are used for Streamer.bot and StreamDeck at need, you have a lot of options.)

ASIO plugin on OBS does work okay, I have done it, but it's additional headache and didn't gain me anything, hence my existing and now long-lived solution here.

2. Uninstall SE.Live (Add/Remove Programs)

If your plugins are so old they don't support versions of OBS past v27, you should look in to updating or replacing them.

But we typically don't arbitrarily disable plugins unless there is a good reason to.

I distinctly remember there being an OBS update that stated it would disable all plugins that aren't made for v32, I think, but I'm wondering if maybe people made a stink about it and that got changed.

We implemented a change that prevents plugins built against newer versions of OBS from loading on older versions.

So if the plugin was built for, say, v33 (which isn't out yet) it won't load on v32.

The best solution I have is to go out to HDMI from the first device, then use a device that happens to strip HDCP, then back into HDMI capture in the second device. This isn't really a plugin though. The last device I bought for this is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F5R9TNM It says "WILL NOT STRIP OR BYPASS HDCP – Fully compatible with any HDMI 1.4/1.3/1.2 version, supporting HDCP 1.4 (NOTE: Will Not BYPASS HDCP)" Maybe they have a new revision on the same Amazon listing, because the unit I got most definitately does strip HDCP. I don't know of any such device that is HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 compatible, but personally I am only interested in 1080p60 anyway.

What I am doing is connecting a Magewell's USB capture device to the HDMI port on my Mac Studio M4. Mac OS instantly recognizes the capture device as a display. I can see the screen in OBS. I can hit record, and OBS records whatever is on the screen, but when I play anything in TV.app, the video goes black. If I disable OBS in Privacy & Security -> Screen & System Audio Recording, I can record the TV.app video, but the audio stops working. I have tried a couple of different HDMI splitters, but doesn't work.

I have an Apple TV subscription. There's some content I'd let my kids watch, like Frog and Toad, etc. It appears whoever is currently running Apple is some sort of deviant groomer, allowing pornographic imagery on the home screen and previews. I don't want my children to see it. I figure since I pay for the content can just record the kids' shows and place them on my Plex, then I am in complete control of what is seen. I don't see how that would be any differnt that ripping a DVD, which we have been doing for 25 years.

Check the Apple TV terms. Most services are giving you the right to view the content, not record the content. There may be DVR features available within the Apple TV service.

In OBS Settings > Stream, choose YouTube for the top dropdown and then click Connect Account. Then in the Multiple Output Plugin delete the Youtube one and set the other streaming site up.

Then in OBS you can always have chat using the correct URL and you can Manage Broadcast in OBS too.

Tuning audio takes time and practice. Don't try to do too much with filters, they only affect what is already there. Filters don't magically or automatically make your voice sound a certain way.

this is what i have setup so far as hardware

my gaming monitor has a display port and wire coming from it to the gaming pc gpu then I have an hdmi cable in the back on my gaming pc gpu going to the in port of the capture card within the stream pc. Then I have an hdmi cable coming form the out port of the internal capture card going to my gaming pc. Then i have another monitor that has hdmi going from it to the gpu of the streaming pc. So i think this is correct. What do you think

Instead of only switching scenes manually, you can build timed live sequences inside OBS.

With respect here, this plugin appears to be vibe-coded, as you don't really seem to have any idea the basics around development. I don't really have any interest in helping you use an AI to write software based on our project.

Best of luck with it, and keep in mind that regardless of anything else, if you distribute the plugin to anyone, you must provide the source. That is up to you to decide the best place or method to do that, and I recommend taking the time to read the GPLv2+ license that OBS is provided under.

Docks in OBS can be managed from the Docks menu in the main OBS window.

You can toggle docks on and off, or lock or unlock docks to prevent moving and editing, as well as add custom browser-based docks here.

You can also reset the UI from this menu to return your docks to their original state (Docks > Reset Docks).

The service you're using is irrelevant.

Encoding and output is handled by OBS, so a dual stream to Twitch and YouTube would be the same as to Twitch and Restream.

If you're sending the exact same content, it can use the same encoder and will just take bandwidth.

If you're using multiple renditions, all bets are out the window.

So right now one source record filter is not starting recording.

What is happening is you are using the regular OBS recording which has everything on the canvas.

And then the one source record is running for one of the single sources but I don't know which.

Do you want to be recording the canvas with all its sources using the OBS Start Recording button?

Rename the two Source Record filters so they have different names than each other. You can do this in the filters window for each source.

Cool, hide both SR filters, then change their Recording Mode to "Always"

Then open Settings > Hotkeys, set the same hotkey to unhide on both filters. Also set a hotkey to hide them both.

These hotkeys will function as your start and stop recording keys. When unhidden, they both record. When hidden they dont.

Ok, so basically here's what I'd advise as setup :
1 : Name your scenes so that all of those in the same loop have that loop's name in their name
2 : for each scene in that loop create a macro with no condition, and a sole action of "switch to that scene"
3 : Create one master macro that, if the scene name has the loop name in it, runs a given sequence of macros, and wait X time inbetween, and add each of the individual macros to that sequence

I think the Nvidia background removal plugin is keeping me from saving my scene collection. I can save it from safe mode... I was going to uninstall the nvidia sdk and switch to nvidia broadcast but... before i do, is this just a thing where i should wait for an update? or maybe I missed a setting....

okay im a little stumped with my advanced scene switcher macros and troubleshooting it and would like some assistance.

context: i am wanting to set up two macros such that one of them detects if a game capture is hooked and is fullscreen and focused (i.e i am tabbed into the game), it runs the relevant "capture foreground window" hotkey and swaps to that Games scene. then, if i tab out of the game / focus another window that isnt full screen, it swaps to another scene that has a display capture. that way i can record my desktop n wahtnot when i need to with Display Capture, but then when i am in-game, it uses Game Capture.

the "Desktop Focus" macro should be the one that swaps to the display capture scene, and the "Game Focus" macro should be the one that swaps to the Game Capture scene.

Right now, its just not swapping scenes and im unsure whats going on. does anyone know what it could be? or does anyone have any advice on how to approach this better?

Speed tests mean very little with regards to streaming and your choice of bitrate. They measure your raw upload speed to a server that's near you (likely run by your local ISP), instead of your stable upload speed to a streaming server. Your stable speed will determine the bitrate you can comfortably stream at.

The stable speed can be estimated as roughly 70-75% of the speed test result in a lot of cases, however this is by no means a perfect estimate. In reality, it may end up being much worse if there's problems between your ISP and the streaming service.

the password is suggested because the other two bits (address and port) are usually the same, so if you don't set a password a website you visit in your browser could control your obs without your consent

so for instance you could be a streamer and one of your viewers sends you a link and you're like "this link doesn't look shady and also I'm behind seven proxies and using a vpn" so you go there, then that webpage could connect to your obs because all it has to do is connect to localhost:4455

I'm not sure of an overlay, but that's what I use Touch Portal for on a tablet. It acts as a controller for OBS and has indicators for source and filter visibility, on air/recording status, and more.

I'm using it for my alt laptop which is only Windows 8.1. I'm doing this so my brother @silk kernel can see both my main laptop and alt laptop on his tv. My main laptop to his tv works but then he can't see my alt one. I don't want to open my OBS on my main one since then games would be unplayable. So I'm using a capture card to take my main laptop into my alts OBS and then my alt laptop HDMI port to my brothers tv. This way the alt laptop controls everything instead of one of each

Idk what I did but one thing I did do is clicked on the capture card properties and on the bottom I checked the "Use custom audio device" and I selected the capture card and I was able to have that use audio as well as the capture cards video part. Idk if that fixed the low part or what, but in the end I got the gain and other things working.

Yea I do have a capture card. I actually have 2. One I got a few years ago (my younger brought it for me as a Christmas present) and then I got one like a week or 2 ago myself. One is used for showing my Xbox on my alt laptop and the second one is used for showing my main laptop on it. But the main laptop screen is dupe mode. I want 2 for the main. One for dupe mode for my brother @silk kernel to see my main laptop on his tv (my alt laptop sends it's whole screen on his tv with a HDMI cable on dupe mode etc) and I want one for extend mode for my main laptop so I can put games I'm doing afk grinding in on while I watch videos on my main display. Having a Windows 8.1 laptop with enough USB bandwidth to support multiple capture cards is also very doubtful. Those things do not have the most USB bandwidth, and you'll likely end up dealing with constraints there.

As in, either the devices won't support full resolution, or just flat out won't work. This is a fourteen year old laptop that was low performance when it was released.

So I found from Google AI that there is another software called "vMix Display Capture" that acts like DVI sender and it's a lot less demanding on my main laptop and my alt laptop plugin that I got can see it. I also had to get VDD.Control so windows can add more display and trick it into think another display is in for the alt laptop to see it. A lot of tweaking and troubleshooting but I got it not to laggy (in the beginning it was getting mouse delay than I fixed that but than got actual fps like lag but fixed that to etc). I tested it and it is def smoother than space desk. Idk if it's 100% smooth but it might be good enough for me for now.

Yes, this shows the problem. See the Filename Formatting is using the exact same format as the main OBS recording. The computer can't record two different things to the same file name. Add a word to the end of filter filename field, like "camera"

Okay, now there are no spurce record filters, all cleaned up.

Make a scene that has a source to capture your game and your webcam in it, that will be for your main OBS recording. Move things around how you like.

Then add source record filters to the game and the webcam sources. Make sure to add a word at the end of their Filename Formatting (one can be "game" the other can be "cam"). That should do it!

While OBS Shaderfilter isn't available for Mac currently, the StreamFX and OBS Shaderfilter Plus plugins are both available for Mac and provide shader loading functionality. The easiest way to do a circular or other static shaped camera is with the Image Mask filter as dodgepong suggested. It can even use animated GIF and possibly other animated file formats (you'd have to test them though). On the shader side, a custom shader would be needed which isn't difficult to do and is potentially quite flexible/configurable, but Image Mask is so much easier for just a round mask.

Windows: OBS v26 and above contains a basic virtual camera. For advanced usage, such as preview or specific scene/source output, try the third party plugin.

macOS: OBS v26.1 and above contains a standard virtual camera. Having issues with specific programs? Check this guide.

Linux: OBS v26.1 and above contains a standard virtual camera. v4l2loopback is required, best installed via the v4l2loopback-dkms package.

Depends on what you mean by "zoom shader". If you mean the ability to say... zoom your camera in for a closeup, that can be done with OBS itself without any shader just by having 2 scenes set up with one zoomed in on the camera and switching between them with a hotkey or streamdeck or whatever. To get fancy you can use the move-transition plugin's filters to have it smoothly zoom in from one position to another if desired (which is pretty cool)
