created a plugin to work as a custom dock using websockets for OBS that has slightly better Touch controls for a touch panel on PC.
(think Hyte Y70 type cases with the built in touch display panel) it's not perfect, but it's free for people to look at use and play with.

Honestly if you want fine tooth control over animation, I wouldn't use OBS at all for that. Go with literal animation software, friend.

It's easier to do what you want to do in animation software or even an NLE. OBS is a live compositor and not as efficient or effective in doing this.

Hello! I'm working into a new plugin for creating a Service & Output, and I realized that the obs-studio is not adding new services registered by a plugin into the Settings UI. Is there a way to adding that auto-discovery to the main codebase of obs-studio to prevent forking the repo just for adding a new service to the list?

if you want to send only one stream and then have an external service redirect it to multiple services, you can check out restream.io, but be aware that it'll require paying them past a certain number of streams, and that it'll mean suboptimal quality especially on youtube

Hello does anyone have knowledge on branch output plugin? Using that with the goxlr are all audio settings supposed to be set to goxlr? or Are they supposed be set to master audio? I'm trying to have it where my voice when I record chat is recorded seperate from the game audio/pc audio/system audio but of course when I record the game/pc that audio is recorded as well

You have to design around that goal, in Tuna. The AdvSS plugin is for showing/hiding it automatically based on song playback. I think Tuna is customizable for its looks on screen.

@loud wedge henlo there, lil weird one about the macro properties of the Twitch macro for channels that aren't live.
I'm currently testing storing info from the twitch macro into variables, and am using this macro to test whether it works well.

What I happened onto is that if you ask it to check on a channel that isn't currently live, the macro properties won't actually be applied to the variable (I'm guessing the properties don't actually get defined?).

So as you can see in the log extract attached, if I set it to kyoslilmonster (currently live), it correctly fetches and puts in the variable the channel login. But after I switch it to frankiebleu (not currently live), even though it finds the channel (as shown by the fact it correctly sees I don't have channel point perms for it), it doesn't update the variable.

I've been able to reproduce that behaviour with every channel I have tried, the macro properties work only on live channels.

Is that known, is that intentional?

Hello. helping a client. His OBS got an update and now everytime he records there is only one file getting saved. before there is always 3. one is the PiP format, second is mevo, and third is chrome.

I can confirm that behavior, but that is indeed a bit surprising.
It seems like for streams which are currently offline the API request to https://api.twitch.tv/helix/streams simply returns no useful data.
(Only {"data":[],"pagination":{}})
Maybe there is a different API call I can try which works for offline channels, too.

Depends on the message type used in the condition.
If you receive a request you don't need to specify a connection since you don't know who will send the request.

If you want to listen for an event you need to specify the connection. (And there you can create new ones)

This might be a little complicated of a question. I’m using OBS with the atrium vertical plug-in. I also have a stream deck. I know there is an OBS set up for stream deck. Where I can activate a replay, buffer recording with the stream deck. My question is there a way to link that as well to the atrium vertical plug-in? Because I would like to record shorts and vertical format for YouTube. I don’t know if it’s possible or not, but I thought I’d ask. I can always set up a keyboard shortcut key too, but if it was all one button on the stream deck that would be ideal.

Hello I'm having trouble with the "Media Looper" tool. It has an option folder with a .txt file where you can change the duration of how long it will display in my case a .png. The default is 5 seconds and after changing the duration to any other number it still only displays the image for 5 seconds.

That way, I dont actually have to put that scene in each individual scene I want to use it in, it just overlays it on every scene (and then I can "exclude" specific scenes with the DSKeyer plugin)

that scene named "[ OVERLAY ] - Special Alerts" is just a scene like any other, but DSK overlays it on top of all of my scene

-yes, the video plays when I manually show/hide the source

But I found out just now that if I manually show the source, let it play, then hide it again, the desired trigger command will cause streamerbot to show the source, play the video and then hide it again as i want.
Also, the video no longer plays when I launch OBS. however, I still need to manually show/hide the source before streamerbot will allow the desired command to trigger it

Needing help with the move transition. I have a Now Playing box that I want to slide into the scene whenever a text file changes. I will use Streamer.bot as a trigger to detect when the file changes (ive confirmed that works). However, I'm having trouble with the move transition and how to get the whole group to slide in and out

Check on services like StreamLabs and StreamElements for their overlays. NOT their plugins, just the basic browser source overlays.

Or look into downloading the GIMP image editor (also free) and learn how to make your own overlay images

You could even do this within OBS using a combination of plugins, macros and sources layered together, but this can become very complex and not a first option IMO.

Streamlabs doesn't provide the actual image. It appears that is their channel logo. You can create that yourself in Paint or Photoshop then add it to your stream with the Image Source.

Feels, I do see how the vertical can be pleasing for people holding a smart phone, but I believe most people are using a tablet or laptop when watching streams, so hori is the way then.

Depends on the platform too.
People have their phones on them damn near 100% of the day, not so much tablets and laptops. And people often listen to the streams more than watch, while doing other things. Easier to do with a phone than a tablet or laptop.
Think how TikTok and IG work, as well as Facebook and even X for live broadcasts.

its annoying when you have to save then go to your files and delete the bad run

right so, you can't delete "before it's added to your files" because it's added to your files the moment you start the recording

What you could do is have a script that ties a given hotkey to stop a recording and delete it from the files instantly.

HOWEVER, what that means is that you now have a hotkey for "delete this recording", which means that if you press it by mistake for a good run, that run is flat gone.

If you do want to go that route, I'd advise you take the time to consider whether the slight annoyance of manual deletion isn't worth the safety of not having good stuff deleted by mistake

I have a technical question regarding the OBS Replay Buffer.

Is there any way to record the Replay Buffer from two different scenes at the same time, saving each replay to a different folder?

Scenario:

Single OBS instance

Two different scenes (each with a different camera/source)

When triggering the replay, I need:

Scene A replay → Folder A

Scene B replay → Folder B

From what I understand, OBS only supports one global Replay Buffer per instance.
Is there any plugin, workaround, or advanced configuration that allows this within a single OBS instance?
Or is the only viable solution to run two OBS instances (portable mode / separate profiles)?

Any technical insight or real-world experience would be greatly appreciated

To enable "Pause Recordings", do the following:

1. In Settings -> Output, make sure "Recording quality" is not set to "Same as stream". If you are using advanced output, make sure that the encoder is not set to "(Use stream encoder)".
2. If you want, set a Pause hotkey in Settings -> Hotkeys
3. Start Recording. While recording, you should see a ⏸ icon next to the Stop Recording button.

Hello - I've been streaming for about a year. I got some nice videos made and collections. Now I've added a Facecam to the stream as well and created a nice scene and familiarized myself with that. I have been streaming to Twitch at 1980x1080 60FPS no problem on either output (the games or the facecam). Now I want to add multistreaming to the setup so I can live stream to YouTube and TikTok at the same time as my Twitch Livestream. I am using a dual monitor setup.

I also have access to Adobe Creative Cloud and very experienced with that if that helps with scene creation or using Premiere Pro and what not. Just want to see what the best plugin to use to add multistreaming if anyone has suggestions or questions.

Relative to your situation, it would mean having one main window (full rendering) and one auxiliary window which just shows a copy of the buffer. Uses multi-window OpenGL context switching, can be somewhat annoying

I'm looking for help to see if this is possible or if anyone has any possible solutions.

What I want, is to set a Source to Pan left or Right based on my Mouse position.
Example, I have a Scene in Vertical where my Gameplay is Zoomed in to a reasonable amount for Viewers to watch more immersively.
But in a game like ARC Raiders, we may want to see the left or right of the screen that's currently cut off.
I don't want to make overlays or masks for those portions or have to manually think about toggling a Move Transition, but want something to automatically move the source left or right showing where my Mouse is hovering.

I attempted to utilize Zoom to Mouse, the script, but this only works with Display Capture, not Game Capture. As well requires Zooming as well as movement. I just want to pan left and right. (Oh and it also doesn't appear to work with Source Clones, as I use that for Move Transitions and Masks around my scenes)

Any suggestions? Is there a script we could have that moves the Source's X position based on Mouse Position? Or any other Plugin that could do this automatically?

Potentially with a Deadzone in the center that it doesn't move, and it only moves when I get past that point?

That's the struggle I've been having.

The only way I could think of getting it to work, is have the Source Clone on a Main Canvas - and have this Clone also be on the Vertical Canvas, than have it Zoom and or Pan.

I got this working on a Display Capture, where it would show the zoom on both the Main Canvas and hte Vertical Canvas, but can't seem to get this to work with the Source Clone of a Scene.

As my Scenes all have a Source Clone of the "Displays" Scene which has all of my Game Capture or Display capture elements in there that I have a streamdeck to hide or show.

All I want now is to get it to pan left and right on that Source Clone, and then I can have that copied to Vertical

Hey there! I am kinda surprised that there is still no form of pixelgate/noisegate filter for video sources (not audio).
I would assume this would also come in handy with grain on camera footage, but I would love to use that on a capture of an analogue signal - as any "grain" is multiplied with av1 codec.
Saw this feature first on a custom software for a capture card I am using...and since then I am capturing the window of that capture software instead of via OBS, though that software does nothing but applying that gate at this point.
But as my entry on the suggestion board also attracted no response whatsoever, I am wondering if something like that already exists or there are differen workarounds.

I'm not sure if this is the right channel. Some folks were asking if I could add to my bot the ability to randomly "stamp" gifs/videos on their stream. I was thinking of using the websocket to spawn media sources in random placements. But I'm wondering if there's a best (or perhaps least worst) way to go about this for resources in OBS.

I'm wondering if two media sources pointed towards the same local file will load the file twice or if OBS caches them. I was perusing the source and it looks like there is a media-playback cache. But my very unscientific test of placing a few media sources pointed at the same file showed the memory use in the Stats dialog going up quite a bit per source. Which could be render-targets, it's unclear if memory use in Stats is CPU or GPU.

I'm also wondering if maybe I should pool them. Create a few stamp sources and simply move them. Only temporarily creating more if I need more active at once. I'm assuming I should pool at least one source, so that the media is actually loaded. Otherwise even with a media cache it would have to load the media from disk on the first stamp.

Probably also a cap on the max number of stamps active. Anywho, if anyone has insights to share on how to spawn multiple media sources causing the least strain. I'd love to hear them.

For Advance Scene Switcher, does anyone know how to automatically scene switch to a window capture of my browser (brave) when I have it focused? My issue with scene switching via "If > Window > ..is focused" is that it requires the URL/window to match exactly. If I go to any sub-url then it will no longer match. I tried manually switching scenes (game capture and window capture of browser) yesterday and I'd often forget to switch back after alt-tabbing.

that being said, there are mainly two alternatives, one by aitum, which is pretty good, roughly the same but with slightly simpler UI and integration with their vertical-canvas plugin, and another by Streamelements which is generally speaking bad and highly issues-prone

So the opengl app writes the rendered data to a framebuffer. this framebuffer is for the app being rendered onto a fullscreen quad. else you wouldn't see anything in the app. Then it also writes this same framebuffer to shared memory and on the obs-plugin side I read from it at a set interval since I probably don't need however many fps my pc can handle to render.

What I’m exploring isn’t about turning OBS into a replacement for editors or other tools, but about experimenting with how time-based structure could exist inside an already live system.
Everything still runs live through OBS no exporting, no pre-rendering, no attempt to be a full editor. Just exploring whether planning and playback over time can reduce stress during live production.
I enjoy filming and editing beforehand, and I love exploring compositing and storytelling
Just to add some visual context — here’s a screenshot of the experiment I was referring to.
It’s still very early and rough, but it helped me think through time-based structure inside a live OBS setup.

@lean stratus obs-studio's biggest selling point is high performance realtime scene composition, prior to the creation of obs-classic in 2012 it was not something you could run on consumer-grade PCs. There might be something to what you're doing, most video editing software would incur some additional quality loss as part of exporting, and obs-studio's filters can have their properties changed at runtime, plus plugins can add their own filters.

I'd actually recommend you hit #audio-support on this server, see if they can help you lock down the duplicated audio. Either they find its unrelated and you fix it, or you wind up with proof-positive logs that the plugin has a bug and can hand that to the developer, or post that log as an issue on their github.

I built it successfully, from glorpify\build\RelWithDebInfo (accordingly to this wiki (I've also tried to use accordingly to the obs-plugintemplate guide)), but my plugin doesn't show up in the list of plugin.

@obsidian saddle Unless x264 is the only app running on the system (it's not), CPU usage percentage is not useful in this manner. CPU usage is not "CPU was 50% busy", CPU usage is "CPU was 100% busy 50% of the time". Any other apps you have running will be affected by this. But to answer the actual question, most task manager alternatives can graph CPU usage, you can window capture them.

Yeah that seems to be the most reasonable method if I want a graph..

Theres no reliable way to capture encoder hitching either, as both the skipped frames and missed frames metrics don't cover that, so manual observation of the recording for system CPU load is the way forward

Hello everyone. I am wondering if there is anyone that would be willing to live meet with me over zoom or something to help me with the setup of OBS and Whatnot. I have gotten to my wits end with it all not working. Any takers? I would be willing to throw a few bucks at you.
