I feel like it's been asked before, but I'm confused. So, "OBS Studio will no longer load plugins built for a newer release of OBS to prevent future compatibility issues".
Stream Deck won't work now. OBS shows on the stream deck itself, but nothing about it is anywhere on OBS
As well, it tells me that certain plug ins won't load, so I go to the plug in manager to delete or do whatever, and nothing is in there in the first place.

Some plugins don't know they need an update because they need the updated version first. That's what happened in this case.

Yes so i keep the last 20 seconds in memory and when i press a key i have the 20 seconds + i record and then i stop that record and continue with the buffer state. Ideally it could switch instantly so if i stop by accident and would record again there woulnt be a missing frame

I actually managed to figure it out, your code made it that a single master file would effect multiple sources in OBS, what i needed was multiple files to be written to a single masterfile that would be used in a single text source in OBS, so I figured out a script solution from studying your code to create a script that updates my masterfile as Streamlabels updates the sources I declared, allowing for the text field to self format and be used as a scrolling text with my stream labels

Around the same time I updated my OBS to the latest version (32.0.1), anything that plays through a playlist source will always be streamed at maximum volume, regardless of what the setting is in OBS. However, adjusting the volume on OBS does adjust it for my own monitoring and for recordings - the issue only seems to be affecting streams. Any advice you could suggest? (I'm using the 0.1.3 version of the plugin btw)

It wouldn't surprise me tbh, but I wouldn't know where else to look on that one. On the scene I use it, only two sources are playing any audio: the main desktop audio (which is forced muted since I do sources individually) and the media source plugin. Since nothing else is playing any sound on that scene, I really don't know what else it could be.

Also, I haven't tried the vlc video source, but only because I'm not playing video.

And was it fine before the 32.0.1 obs update?

And please try it also with the normal media source and vlc video source (which can play audio as well if that's what you're playing)

Valve has implemented a Trusted mode which does not allow OBS to hook CS2 using Game Capture. Read more in their announcement post. Additionally, they have no plans on allowing OBS in Trusted mode.

We recommend running the game in either windowed or borderless fullscreen and using a Window Capture source instead.

Alternately, you can launch the game with -allow_third_party_software .

no virtual cables, just OBS's own inbuilt audio monitoring. Streaming to Twitch, and it was absolutely fine prior to the 32.x updates. Trying it with standard media source and vlc video source both seem to work as intended. But one thing I have noticed is that even with EVERYTHING muted on the scene, it still plays on stream using the playlist plugin.

Just to double-check, I downgraded back to 31.1.2 and it behaves exactly as intended, adjustable volume and everything. So something is almost certainly disagreeing with the plugin between 31 and 32.

I want to create an effect where I can have an object, like a magnifying glass, which I can move around my scene to reveal a hidden source. My only idea was, to use masks. The plan was to have 3 sources. 1. The magnifying glass 2. The inside of said magnifying glass cut out 3. The hidden source. I had planned to clip the hidden source to the cut out inside part of the magnifying glass and then group the magnifying glass and the cut piece so I can freely move those around the scene and only have the hidden source show once I line up the magnifying glass ontop of it.

I was told that streamfx could do this but it appears not. Or I just can't figure it out.

Does anyone have an idea how this could be achieved?

Looks like this needs 3 scenes and studio mode.
Scene 1 'hidden object scene': hidden object (akelpad) (I used window capture here to capture a notepad window)
Scene 2 'mask': bucket-opaque.png (this is the magnifying glass image that will serve as a mask)
Scene 3 'scene': the first source is a Scene source for 'hidden object scene', I also placed a display capture source below

Open Filters for 'hidden object scene', add a Dynamic Mask filter, choose 'mask (Scene)' as the input source. Under "Alpha Channel", set "Base Value" to 0, "Alpha Input Value" to 1.

I don't know what to do next. Perhaps the StreamFX Discord would have insights?

Not sure if this is the right area for downstream keyer plugin but it's straight up not working on 32.0.1 with the most recent update for keyer installed on 0.4.3.

I go to click on a scene I want to display in the keyer and it flashes on then off for a millisecond.

I should note that it’s only on this specific scene collection for whatever reason. Other older scene collections do not have this issue.

Good afternoon, beautiful community. I have a question. On November 15th, I'm participating in a tournament, and I need to set a delay between 30 seconds and 1 minute for each match (League of Legends).
The problem is that if I set Dynamic Delay in a new scene and apply the "Render Delay" filter to the webcam and in-game, I have to repeat this step more than 100 times since the maximum delay allowed by OBS is 500ms.
Does anyone know if there's a plugin or something similar that can help me set the delay?

Basically, I picture a jank setup. In this setup, I assume OBS is the capture software and the stream software, but any stream software could work.
OBS Stream setup, maintains the stream to Twitch, no delay.
OBS main setup (camera, mic, etc) no delay, outputs as a source into OBS Stream.
OBS Game setup (with delay), outputs as a source into OBS Stream.
Switch scenes in Stream setup, between Main (not delayed) and Game (delayed). Would take some practice, maybe dual pc.
I'm checking if the ATEM can do stream delay, that would be hardware option.

i dunno, I'd be kind of surprised if there were issues. The SRT output part shouldn't even know there's a difference. Both ways it gets a series of encoded frames, it doesn't really have any knowledge or awareness of where they came from or when, and there's not really any feedback from the output to the encoder

I apologize in advance, this is going to ramble a bit because I've got a series of plugin related issues and not sure if they're all related or not.

My tale begins on a summer afternoon a few weeks ago where my Elgato StreamDeck suddenly went haywire and huge delays started happening when I hit keys that had worked fine before. Actions that kicked in immediately were 15-20 seconds delayed, messing with the show we were recording.

So I start upgrading - first streamdeck, then OBS, then streamdeck again, finally OBS again and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes the deck works fine, sometimes the problem is back.

Final standing is OBS 32.01 and Streamdeck 7.03

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows how to get a proper audio fade for scene switches? I have different music for each scene and I was using advanced scene switchers macros to do it (basically made a fade in and fade out macro for each scene) and that seemed to work fine at first, but for some reason now it only works sometimes and sometimes the audio just cuts off like normal I don't really know why. I want to create an effect where I can have an object, like a magnifying glass, which I can move around my scene to reveal a hidden source. My only idea was, to use masks. The plan was to have 3 sources. 1. The magnifying glass 2. The inside of said magnifying glass cut out 3. The hidden source. I had planned to clip the hidden source to the cut out inside part of the magnifying glass and then group the magnifying glass and the cut piece so I can freely move those around the scene and only have the hidden source show once I line up the magnifying glass ontop of it.

I was told that streamfx could do this but it appears not? Or maybe I just can't figure it out.

Does anyone have an idea how this could be achieved?

Via websocket still means running something that connects to the websocket, either a remote control app on the game pc or on a mobile device. If the interface you want to use is a mouse click and this mouse is connected to the game pc, that precludes the mobile option.

There are a few ways it could be done. One is having the background there and have the secret layer on top of it, and then have the magnifying glass layer on top of that. A circular mask is present on the secret layer, with the circle white with alpha = 1.0, and transparent background for the rest of the mask. This way when the mask is applied to the secret layer, only the area where the circle is located is revealed.

Then whatever is animating the movement of the magnifying glass, is duplicated to also animate the exact same movement of the mask. (Personally I would use a shader for the mask, with X, Y location coordinates, but it can be done with an image mask fine too).

Now if you want the magnifying glass to actually magnify what it is hovering over as well, that definitely requires using a shader for radial lens distortion.

It's much more safe and secure to avoid Desktop Capture and do Window Capture or Game Capture instead, intentionally choosing what gets captured rather than capturing everything and hoping that no personal files, emails, chats, popup notifications and other things that could suddenly appear on the screen show up. I've seen so many people accidentally leak stuff via Desktop capture from text files full of Steam codes for giveaways, to doxxing themselves, showing private DMs from Discord, inbound private messages from friends/family that are personal popping up on the screen, etc.

Security and convenience are mutually exclusive. The more of one you get, the less of the other you get.

I'm using Advanced Scene Switcher plugin, and I set scene with specific timers, but it only work correctly once, if I switch to another one and then back to it, everything playing all at once, and I need to restart OBS to fix it. Is there a way to keep it from breaking like that?

ok so when you have an action to unmute something or play a media source when switching to a scene, if you want it to stop doing that when you switch to another scene you need actions there to stop mute/stop

otherwise they just stay as they are

you can also create a macro that is the inverse of this one

i.e., when scene is NOT "immortalis"

or even better you can add a macro that stops/mutes/whatever you want that triggers when you switch off of that scene, by setting the condition to "previous scene is"

so as an example:
Macro 1: If current scene is "immortalis" then show source test image

Macro 2: if previous scene is "immortalis" then hide source test image

so then when you switch to the scene, the test image is shown

well all I can say without seeing the whole thing is start small and when automating consider that nothing happens unless you tell it to. and you have to really consider what you want to happen in what situation.

Does anyone know a music plugin for OBS that shows what's being played on stream that isn't for Youtube Music or Spotify? I currently use Media Source to have a folder of songs shuffled around, but someone asked if I could show on stream what the songs actually were.

tuna supports lots of stuff through window's native api, but you're not going to get anywhere with a media source

apparently foobar2000 can also export its "now playing" info to a text file which you can then read in obs

wondering what the intended mechanism is for getting back on to an appropriate core obs thread context, if i'm doing some work on a separate worker thread and want to get back to call some obs api functions? assuming i'm running as a c++ plugin and that i don't have any sources or anything instantiated

all the chatbots keep hallucinating a function obs_queue_task() that doesn't appear to exist, and it's unclear from the docs if signals/procedures get handled on the signalling thread, or from obs itself

obs_queue_task does exist. Many OBS API functions can be called from other threads. What are you trying to do?

there is one provided by a plugin, but it is unmaintained and known to be prone to crashes

if the purpose is capturing audio from game no matter which game, you can tick "capture audio" in the properties of th game capture

To help resolve your issue, we need to view a log file from a fresh launch of OBS Studio containing an output session. Follow these instructions to upload a clean log file:

1. Restart OBS Studio first!
2. Start your stream/recording replicating any issues (meaning having any games/apps open and captured, etc.)

alright, so it is not related to the problem, but you really shouldn't be using low latency tuning (in settings > output), it's encoding latency so you're saving like a quarter second or so, at the cost of way more performance load

i've since found obs_queue_task now thanks. there's an eerie lack of record of the function anywhere outside the source itself. duckduckgo doesn't even find a single result on the subject, and google just a handful. even forum posts mention it as undocumented, which is all strange considering its utility

my use case is pretty complex; but it's good to know that the obs api is somewhat thread-safe? again, there's no mention of this, and of what is thread-safe, and what isn't, that i can find anywhere in any docs? which is a shame because, again, that's great utility

(probably an odd question, but might as well ask, I've navigated OBS plugins website back and forth but maybe missed something)

For example I've got a DVD screensaver plugin that just adds a bouncing thing on the screen - a gimmick, doesn't solve any particular problem or do anything particularly useful, I'm always looking for those kinds

Regarding the captions not working, just to be sure i understand the history, so back here (<#plugins-and-tools message>) it sounds like you used to use the Experimental inbuilt captions but then that stopped working after an OBS update so you tried the google captions plugin but that also doesn't work natively on Twitch for you on your stream (but does work via text source), is that right?
In that case it sounds like there might be something wrong in general with outputting captions for you then, though I have no clue how that would happen 🤔.
There is a simple test script here (https://gist.github.com/ratwithacompiler/689d40e43e668b526b2842f961d03f5f) that sends a number caption every second you could try to confirm that or rule that out (add via tools -> scripts in OBS).

Initially I used the google captions plug-in and it was working but with the recent update it stopped. It kept crashing every time I loaded up OBS and I couldn't remove it so I had to re-install OBS (but only the software, I kept the scenes etc.).

Then I noticed there was an experimental captions option and I tried it but I couldn't get it to work so I asked on here if there was some caption software and was directed back to the google plug-in.

This was a later version of the plug-in that I had been using previously as it appeared to work because I saw the chat appearing on the 'caption' window in OBS.

However some of my viewers who use the CC told me that they weren't getting CC anymore and so I posted here just to see if I'd done anything silly in setting it back up again.
