yeah i just wanted to use the teleport output option
That he's not seeing
i have a old laptop and i wanna test that if i made its puorpse to record my screen how smooth its going to bee
Wdym it's right there
wait wait i think i got it wrong
Lmao what
bro its chat gpt that telling me what to do
Lolwut?
I think trusting chatgpt over your own eyes is probably a bad idea
@daring wigeon click teleport under tools, enable it, choose an identifier/name for the pc
Setup a scene however you want it
On a different PC you add a teleport source in your scene and choose the identifier
That's all you have to do
it said teleport output not just teleport option so i think its a diffrent option
not my fault
certainly a lesson about the functionality and usefulness of chatgpt in a situation like this to be learned
-
Open OBS on PC 1 (the sender).
-
Go to Tools → Teleport → Teleport Output.
-
In the Teleport Output window, select "Add New" or configure the available input options.
Here, you’ll be prompted to select a destination IP for the receiver (PC 2’s IP).
Enter the IP address of PC 2 (e.g., 192.168.1.101).
-
Set up any audio/video settings as required for your stream.
-
Start the output. This will send your video and audio feed from PC 1 to PC 2 over the network.
Step 3: Set up Teleport on PC 2 (Receiver)
-
Open OBS on PC 2 (the receiver).
-
Go to Tools → Teleport → Teleport Input.
-
In the Teleport Input window, click on "Add New" or Create New.
-
Enter the IP address of PC 1 (e.g., 192.168.1.100).
Make sure you are selecting the correct input source (video and audio feed coming from PC 1).
- Click Start Input or similar to begin receiving the feed.
Step 4: Adjust Settings
On PC 2, you may need to adjust the input settings (resolution, FPS, etc.) based on your network bandwidth and OBS settings.
Make sure the audio and video sync is working correctly, and there is no excessive delay or packet loss. If needed, adjust bitrate settings to optimize the stream.
Look bro what is teleport output and input
I tried setting them up the normal way and there is a huge delay
How big are we talking
MAYBE like a minute some times it even freeze completely
Could be 2 things. Your network card(s) are being overloaded. Or the PC transmitting the OBS is having a hard time keeping up with transmitting
In the task bar when i look in the Ethernet section it tells me its receiving like 500-80 kbps
The task manager?
Isn't they're supposed to be fast bcz they are literally connected with a cable
Yes
On the receiving PC?
Yeah
And what about the sending PC's CPU, GPU and ethernet usage?
When i ping the pc in the cmd it tells me minimum 0ms and maximum 0ms 0% loss
Well yeah that defaults to 32 bytes, that's practically nothing
How do i make it send faster?
There normal and the gpu sits around 15% usage
What's normal, got some numbers for me?
The cpu is 44% the Ethernet is the same as in the receiving pc and the gpu is 15% usage
What is your quality on in the teleport output setting
Obs os not even taking anything from cpu
!cleanlog
Get a log from the sender pc, while Teleport output is active.
To help resolve your issue, we need to view a log file from a fresh launch of OBS Studio containing an output session. Follow these instructions to upload a clean log file:
- Restart OBS Studio first!
- Start your stream/recording replicating any issues (meaning having any games/apps open and captured, etc.)
- Stop your stream/recording after 30 seconds or after the issue has occurred
- Click the Help menu → Log Files → Upload Current Log File
- Paste the URL into this Discord channel

- Not Admin
- No Output Session
- Third-Party Plugins (1)
Intel Core i7-5500U @ 2.40GHz - Below minimum requirements / GeForce 820M - Possible bottleneck
Yeah, you have a network issue, either with the ethernet connection on the pc, the cable, the ethernet connection on the receiver pc, or any switch/router hardware in between them. A capture card may be a quicker solution, if these PCs are in the same room.
I'm actually thinking the teleport quality is too high. Worth a shot to bring that down to like 30-40 just to see what it's doing
The reason your network usage isn't high is because it isn't sending:
18:39:29.886: [obs-teleport] send queue high [192.168.1.101:49820] 800
18:39:29.904: [obs-teleport] send queue exceeded [192.168.1.101:49820] 801
Do u mean the bitrate?
Tools > Teleport > Quality
What?
The queue is getting higher and higher, like people getting in line to buy movie tickets. But the ticket window isn't open.
Bottleneck?
I like that analogy. And now by bringing the quality down we could try with shorter, uglier movies 😄
So people go in faster
Yeah its so lees worse but there is a little delay but still way more better
Okay, can we get another log from your sender pc?
- Mismatched Sample Rates
- Capture Interference

- No Output Session
- 1.1% Rendering Lag
- Third-Party Plugins (1)
Intel Core i7-5500U @ 2.40GHz - Below minimum requirements / GeForce 820M - Possible bottleneck
Do u mean that the sender is sending more than the receiving can't take?
Can we get a log from the receiving PC?
Better, but this pc is going to struggle without a hardware encoder.
Is your other pc better, the receiver?
No, the sender is sending so much information, the sender pc isn't even sending it out. It was not leaving the pc. Your second log shows improvement.
Nah way wayyyy worse
Time for a new pc, if you really want to enjoy content production.
How is it sending way too much but not even sending
Bad phrasing on my part. The previous log shows the data lined up to be sent, but it never was sent.
are we not going to address the fact that it seems like what you are trying to do has no chance of working how you want it to?
Iam not going to take as a job bro just a "fun hobbie"
Depends really on the delay
1 to 1 is maybe not possible
Is there any way to take as much quality and frames possible?
You're already going above the capabilities to be fair. Lower quality some more
At some point you'll see it, maybe not depending if this is fast paced motion content you're putting out
Thats suck
Welp to be fair, the PCs suck 😄
Can i record mc with it
Doesn't need a genius to figure that
Hard maybe
???
Not sure, been years since I've played MC
Yeah that's my brother
Bald and beard is basically one big family, we just don't say it publicly
Is he actually UR brother
Recording ofc
Okay, why does it matter it's delayed on the receiving PC?
Idk thought that like if i pressed on pause it would pause in a before moment
U get what i mean?
You can edit that afterwards anyway
i get what you mean but meh, do that in post production
If i crank the quality a little and there was delay in the receiving pc it wouldn't matter?
Like if i paused or endedd the record it would come out good?
Test it and see
As long as it's just delay, and not stuttering or messing up audio. No it doesn't matter
Is that delay going to be the frames thats coming out in the recording?
Test it and see the results. No one knows on such old hardware.
K how do i connect my mic to the recordings
You are really on your own trying to make this work. It's up to you to decide if the quality is acceptable.
You add a mic source. Preferably with the mic connected to the pc doing the recording.
Teleport also sends audio
Also an option, you just have to align it in post production then
Oh ok sad that my mic that i bought doesn't even get recognized by the pc
What mic? How does it connect to the pc?
Looks like it.
Wait how do i check if its running off the internet connection or the cable connection?
what?
you mean wifi or cable?
think about it, where do you want the recording to be performed and saved?
Stupid question ik
If you press record on the sender, why even send it to the other pc? Unless you have reasons.
I just went back to your log and something I see is that you're now sending frames to 192.168.100.23 instead of 192.168.1.101?
what????
Aight I think this entire thing might be just a tad lil too complicated for you so I'm going to backup Papa Luigi's question.
Why go to the trouble of setting up a dual setup if you could record on 1 pc?
Bro i am using the other pc full hard ware just to record
Yeah the recording is frozen
There is sound but no frames
1 frame per whenever i want
Okay but I think we're going a bit out of scope here :p I have to explain networking to you just so you could be sure you're sending and/or receiving on cabled network
if you wanna be sure, disable wifi on both devices
What will that do
You're probably hitting the too high of a queue again, lower the quality
You're gonna be sure you're sending and receiving on cabled network
It turned black then came back and froze
No wait i see the sound bar moving soooo slowly
Its struggling to move
1 frame per 3 busines days
what do you mean by "when the internet was on"? Do you mean the wifi adapter on the pc?
.
.
Alright let's stop talking about internet and talk about WiFi connection and cable connection. It's confusing us right now.
If it was working better on WiFi then there's something messed up with your cabled connection
I told you it pings correctly and the IP is also correct
pinging correctly doesn't measure stability.
Facts right now: with wifi = less laggy
with cable = laggy
Ye
@daring wigeon the best we can help with here is getting some kind of recording done on one pc, the better of the two. We can't help you troubleshoot your home network to make Teleport a better option for a dual pc setup vs. one pc.
Bro whats the problem now thats causing it to be laggy is it poor internet connection or weak hardware???
Don't know. We would need to physically be there to test your home network and pcs to troubleshoot it.
Can't u know from the log files?
Yeah, we see the symptoms of Teleport struggling on that pc. But the log does not tell us anything about your home network. Until you make sure you have a strong, high speed home network (not internet) for sharing data between pcs, Teleport is not going to be a good option for you. A capture card would be better, if you insist on a dual pc setup for recording.
What's the difference between home network and internet
Why is it struggling
Did u request the log files from the sender or from the receiver 🙂
home network is your devices talking to each other, devices within your home. Wired or wireless.
Internet access to websites and services outside your home is what you pay for.
Then how to make my home network stronger and faster
Doesn't matter, but I asked for the sender, if the sender is having issues sending data, that's the first problem to fix. Or avoid by using a capture card or simply recording on the game pc.
Idk if its important but on the sender i am using a usb to Ethernet adapter since i dont have a Ethernet port on it but the reciver have one
Don't know in your case. I don't know what you have, so I don't know what to recommend. And telling me what you have won't help, so please don't.
This is beyond the scope of OBS support.
Well yeah, that may be a problem. Does your pc have a proper ethernet port?
never mind, I see you state that
Just tell me if its the cable or smth else
I can't answer that question. You need to test it yourself, or have someone you trust test it. In person.
Bro in the 3 day journey of trying to do dual pc setup ive done 2 entire new installtions of windows and bricked a usb somehow (the usb one is not my fault bro i swear)
Please, just stop.
You have three options:
- Get a friend to come over and help you with your network
- Buy a capture card if you want to use dual pc for recording.
- Try recording on the game pc, which you say is the better pc.
You can't keep repeating the same questions and doing the same things while expecting different results.
What does option 3 mean?
It means a single pc setup
Bro am sorry didn't think this would be so long and complicated
Your choice of dual pc complicates it automatically. It's a simple fact, because now you need to maintain two pcs instead of one. Add to that the Teleport option requires a fast and stable local network, so that's one more thing to troubleshoot.
There is actually no tut on youtube with the same conditions as me
Rarely is.
I tested 2 cables still no results just screw this man
no thanks
?
don't worry.
I gave you the three options to try. The fourth one would be to simply get a better pc, so that you can play and record on one without issues.
Overall i appreciate the help and thank yall for your time
👍
If i bought a capture card wouldn't it be laggy bcz the lack of good hardware?
You wouldn't need to run OBS on the game pc if you use a capture card. So, you may actually improve overall performance on that PC.
Too hard to tell for sure until you actually test it
No i mean that the pc thats going to record has trash hardware so isn't going to be laggy?
Again, still don't know because you were having issues just getting video to the recording pc, right? But like I said earlier, if the recording pc is really that bad, just do everything on the game pc.
My game pc is not even considered decent it runs the game a 60 fps in good conditions maybe more
I know, we can see that.
Doesn't change my advice. If you want any chance to make quality recordings, OBS should be on the better pc. Then adjust settings and troubleshoot from there.
Minecraft is a CPU intensive game and UNFORTUNATELY i dont have a encoder on my gpu so all the load is on my power saving laptop cpu
Its cpu intensive when not running shaders
I know what MC is and we know from a lot of support here how people play on underpowered gear and expect quality from OBS, when they could be adjusting MC so that OBS has room to use resources.
Thats a different story
You have QSV
Final point. I listen options. Pick one. Or don't.
I have like 27 mods including sodium and alot more
What is that
Then you are already over-working that pc for reason if you want quality in a recording. Whether you use Teleport or not.
Bro these mods make the game alot smother and inhances performance
hardware encoder you have based on your log. Also known as Quicksync
What hardware encoder should i put?
at the expense of your pc perfomance when you want to do other things, like run OBS on it. Your choice and your priorities.
Hallo liebe OBS-Community,
If I'm offering hardware as an option, what do you think?
Yeah its already at qiuck sync and there is other options i mean like should i pick another hardware encoder or not?
do you see a different hardware encoder?
auf englisch, bitte
Welcome to the official OBS Community Discord server! Unfortunately, our support volunteers can only provide support in English. Most of our support documents and guides are also only in English. If you feel comfortable using a service like Google Translate, feel free to use that to send messages to us. We'll do our best to understand your intent, and we'll try to help you as much as we can.
Translate
Ich kann leider kein English gibts , denn auch einen deutschen Support?
You can try different encoders, but the Quicksync encoder is the only hardware encoder on that pc.
what are the others
others would be available if you had hardware supporting it...
tut mir leid, kein Support auf deutsch
Hello dear OBS community,
I hope you are all doing well!
I am urgently looking for someone who can help me connect my OBS to TikTok via TeamViewer or AnyDesk and make some other settings. I have already successfully set up the whole thing once with the support of a friend and got it up and running. Unfortunately, he can't help me at the moment because he's in the hospital.
Since I'm not that familiar with the technical details, I would be really grateful if someone could take the time to help me step by step. The main thing is to set the optimal configuration for a smooth stream, possibly adjust a few scenes and overlays and make sure that everything runs stably. Of course, if anyone has experience with TikTok streaming via OBS, that would be especially helpful.
I really appreciate it when someone gets in touch and helps me out. If necessary, we can coordinate in advance to find a suitable time for support.
Many thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to read my request and may even be able to help me! I am happy about any support and feedback.
Best regards,
Totto from Dortmund
I thought you had to use tik tok studio and add the OBS virtual camera as a source there.
yeah that's fundamentally the way to do it
codecs and plugin question here, if this is not the best place to ask, please let me know a better place. 🙂
I am running OBS, I have an rtx 4090, I am using the Nvidia Background Removal plugin. In the past I have pulled in a performer using the AV1 codec and it seemed the background removal worked pretty well. I recently, for more general compatability, decided to switch over to using h264 codecs. Since the switch, I have noticed the Background removal is much less stable. I think this may have something to do with the AV1 codec's ability to handle color better, but am not 100% sure.
My question is, does anyone have any tips or tricks to get the background removal to work better using the h264 codec? Or do you think VP8 might better? I am trying to reduce the workload on the performer computer (hence h264). If it is helpful I am pulling folks in via vdo.ninja.
@shut compass These two features are not related, and your performance should be good enough to run both, regardless of what codec you choose. It's more likely that your lighting conditions have changed, making it harder for background removal to figure out what's what. If obs-studio is not reporting any performance issues in the Stats window, your issue is elsewhere and your choice of codec won't introduce new issues, regardless of which one you use.
Ya, I do not have any performance issues. Even when I am taking 10 performers video feeds, removing their backgrounds, and placing all 10 in front of a background... Unfortunatly I do not always have control over some performers lighting... But Even with my professional lighting setup I can disappear a bit more using the h264. It's strange...
@shut compass This is probably run to run variance, but if you would like to produce a direct comparison, you can use the source record plugin to record the same scene into two files, one with av1, one with h264.
Thanks. I also just noticed that the threshold was set to .95 whereas in another scene collection I have it set to .90. I will do some testing but I think this may help a tiny bit.
Anyone having issues with controller overlays not being active while playing a game but itsa viewable on obs?
@quartz jacinth Add --disable-features=EnableWindowsGamingInputDataFetcher to your launch options, this will also be the default in future releases.
awesome thank you. where can i find those settings sorry novice at this lol
@quartz jacinth Quit obs-studio, copy the above text, right-click your shortcut to obs-studio, choose Properties, then select the Target field, press End, press Space, paste, hit OK, run obs-studio.
for some reason that didnt work is there a way to do it through the web browser source in obs?
@quartz jacinth Could you copy the contents of the Target field and post them in this chat?
@untold jay "C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit\obs64.exe"
the overlay works just not when im playing the game im playing but if i click on obs it works
@quartz jacinth Replace it with "C:\Program Files\obs-studio\bin\64bit\obs64.exe" --disable-features=EnableWindowsGamingInputDataFetcher
SUCCESS. your a legend. thank you
hey is there plugins to make my stream run smoother form my labtop ?
Does anyone know a good OBS plugin that allows you to track the program's performance or some advanced application features?
https://github.com/exeldro/obs-source-profiler/releases
Requires OBS 31.
Thanks
Hello 🙂 What's the etiquette of posting about some software I've been working on that interacts with OBS? Or is this purely for troubleshooting...
@rotund ocean Submit it to https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/ .
Cool. I have and just waiting for approval. No worries 🙂
hey, random question, does anyone have any third party tool to do realtime motion graphics?
there, now you can tell me about it 😄
😆 awks
I am not the one who approves those but I did see it, looks very cool
Thank you. :). Hopefully gets approved on the forums. On that note I'll stop clogging up this channel. 🙏
You're not clogging up the channel, its what it's for friend 🙂
Approved it just now, thanks for taking the time to make a clean and correct submission!
Legend! Thank you so much 🙂
Is it an electron app?
The UI has the feel to it
It is yeah 😬
Cool, looks very extensive from the previews. Websocket communication?
Part obs-websocket for the initial building, but it's actually a python script that drives the animations
Oh? How you communicating with obs?
It communicates with both obs-websocket and a python socket library for taking in the actual commands to animate
I've been using a version of it on my streams for over 5 years. So it's been tried and tested! Just relatively recently thought I'd package it up and make it usable for other people.
Hey @rotund ocean!
🙏
I was just talking about Stream Animate like a day or two ago! 😛
Ah cool! Well done though 🙂
it's been a long road haha. This version is finally where I want it to be,
I was in a discussion about software doing effects/etc. with OBS as a separate program and your name came to mind. 😛
🙏 it's changed a lot since you last tried it
yeah, I bet! I have been away from fx stuff for a while so I'm behind on all the latest things 😛
Good to see you got it on the resource forum now, I was going to ask you about that next time I caught up with you hehe.
was always 'something' I wasn't happy with, still are a few things and I expect some bugs...but it's very stable
Yeah, it's good to let some things bake in the oven long enough until one is happy with it. I'm in that line of thought myself. 🙂
Is the virtual camera considered a plugin/tool or no? I'm having trouble with it and nobody replies in windows-support
Plus my trouble is very development-related: Unreal engine 4 on windows 10 cannot seem to see it as a media source, despite seeing other virtual camera software and actual webcams
@hard yarrow Does obs-studio see its own virtual camera in video capture device source dropdown?
@hard yarrow Could you be more specific with "other virtual camera software"? I would try the obs-virtualoutput plugin, and maybe streamlabs desktop.
I have 3 other devices to test with as well, a real webcam, a vive, and a cap card, all of which are seen by unreal 4
other virtual camera software as in manycam and altercam
@hard yarrow Those are not virtual cameras, those have real drivers. Some software will check for drivers or lack thereof to detect and skip virtual cameras. I'm not familiar with the other two applications you mentioned, they could be emulating the presence of a device driver, obs-studio can't do that.
I actually did try streamlabs desktop, it uses the exact same dll as obs-studio and as such, did not work
I assumed the thing that separated a device driver from a linked dll was whether it showed up in the device manager, I guess I was wrong (those software virtual cams did not show up, as obs virtual camera does not)
@hard yarrow judging by release date, it'll likely load on v30.x, v31.x is not guaranteed. I doubt it'll behave any different, but it might.
I just wasn't sure if that's what you meant by "obs-virtualoutput plugin"
which, when searched, doesn't seem to find an actual download
@hard yarrow No, you found the correct one above.
Hmmm I'm not sure this works at all, discord doesn't see anything and it doesn't even let me choose a source or scene to display
The naming has become somewhat ambiguous since now obs-studio has a built-in virtual cam feature, but obs-virtualoutput is the only non-ambiguous way to refer to this third-party plugin.
Does it show up in the Tools menu?
yes
You can start it from there. Applications will only recognize the newly installed virtual camera(s) after you restart them.
hmm interesting, discord was live detecting other stuff I installed
lemme see
Well, it's almost what I want
It only displays whatever scene I'm on though
I'd have to run 2 obs instances to get what I want out of it haha
Okay time to test unreal though, this is at least halfway what I need
Damn, nope, unreal still doesn't see it
unreal might only support mediafoundation devices, the virtualcam in OBS is directshow
unsure... altercam seems to be directshow
If unreal doesn't see it, and other applications do, it's probably best to jump over to the unreal support forums and see if anyone can assist then. We just register a directshow device.
alright, that's still more info than I had before so works for me
not trying to get rid of you, just not sure there's much left we can do, haha
Nah it makes sense
As far as my dev friend and I can discern, this might actually be an unreal 4 vs 5 issue a windows 10 vs 11 issue
I just needed a little more information from folks in the know, the directshow vs mediafoundation knowledge is helpful
Oh, sorry, I didn't mean unreal 4 vs 5
Yeah, our vcam devices (and all the plugins available) use directshow
I meant Windows 10 vs 11
This ended up being very useful, thanks again
Glad it helped!
Lossless AVI made a difference for the vids with alpha, and one of them is on a static color background so for that I just added the background to the video and rendered without alpha to h264 so it supports gpu decoding
Can someone explain this plugin for me
or rather show me how it works
what are you trying to do exactly?
I'm trying to bring in a guest
yeah, use this instead :
https://vdo.ninja/
SRC-link is good but it's bordering ona professional solution for complex setups
way overkill for just "want to bring in a guest"
oh so the guest can see the stream feed
vdo is great but using virtual camera and a broswer lags the stream
when it happens, does obs report dropped frames?
yes
then it lags because your internet bandwidth isn't enough for both the stream and the vdo.ninja video
that plugin isn't gonna solve that
To help resolve your issue, we need to view a log file from a fresh launch of OBS Studio containing an output session.
I need something like vmix call
do what the bot said
is there a fix for using mic and cam on broswer source for vdo
fix for what?
The pc is not mine
using mic and cam on vdo browser source
what is the issue, exactly?
because the guests can use their mic and cam in a vdo.ninja room
open it in an actual browser, not in a browser source in obs
yhhhh, trying not to add to the cpu usage
doing it in obs won't add remarkably less to cpu usage
i know
so, don't do it in obs???

so, what's the exact issue
Hardware-accelerated GPU
For?
you seemed to imply there was an issue when you tried to use vdo.ninja?
oh yh the pc lags
which PC, the guest or the host?
Guest and that guest is doing the stream
then it shouldn't be the guest
by definition if they're the one streaming, they're the host
Hi guys, any of you know about a freeze effect filter that could be use with the freeze plugin to give the source a nice frozen effect? Unfortunately couldn't find it in shader filter and can't think of a way to put that on one of the sources I'm using the freeze plugin on.
by the freeze plugin, you mean this?
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/freeze-filter.950/
Yes, that's correct 🙂
so, given that this plugin is already a freeze effect filter, what are you looking for on top of it
A visual filter of the source being frozen 😄
Frozen as in ice?
which is what that plugin does, so you might have to be a bit more clear on what you mean
Yeah, anything like that, just to visually show as the source is frozen.
Errrrr you want to stop/freeze a source AND on top of have a visual indicator that it is frozen such as ice around the border or like a big pause button?
Yeah, that's correct
!sceneswitcher this looks like something for this plugin? A stream deck could do that too.
You can use powerful macros in OBS Studio using timers, cursor detection, window detection, and more to automate switching between scenes, toggle sources, and many other options.
To get started, install the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin and see the GitHub project wiki to learn how to use it.
A visual indicator could just be an image source that you turn on simultaneously with the freeze source plugin.
No, I guess you're not getting my point. I'm already using the freeze plugin by exeldro, but I want a visual filter (as shaderfilter has, whole bunch of them) but unfortunately, can't find a freezing effect filter in there which I want to put on the source I'm freezing.
what do you mean exactly by "freezing effect"
You don't really need a filter, just toggle a transparant image source when you use it
Through the scene switcher plugin?
Let me show you 😄
Well, its automated via streamerbot right now and it toggles on automatically.
Okay, no experience with streamerbot but basically do this:
Add an image source
Add for ex.
Make sure streamerbot toggles that image source NEXT to the freeze plugin
That probably sounds like the easiest visual indicator
Image can be literally whatever you want
Yeah maybe, I tried something like this but couldn't get that nicely on the source.
How come?
As the source I'm freezing in my case is a widget goal bar, and I cannot place such images on top of it nicely, so I'll have to tinkle around with it more and adjust the opacity on such image so it blends in nicely 🙂
someone knows how to se more people on this world which are in the chat or by command ?

Q: Does the OBS system have a Timer / Scheduler?
Output Timer, yes, in the Tools menu.
There may be a scheduler of some kind, but not something I'm aware of.
Doc page please
what? It's right there in OBS.
!advss @opaque geyser Could you elaborate? If you need to start/stop outputs at a specific date or time, the advanced scene switcher can do that.
@opaque geyser
You can use powerful macros in OBS Studio using timers, cursor detection, window detection, and more to automate switching between scenes, toggle sources, and many other options.
To get started, install the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin and see the GitHub project wiki to learn how to use it.
The pthreads I setup are not working THAT well, I was wondering is OBS implemented an alternative Scheduler
What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
how do i make it so replay buffer auto starts?
!params
To launch OBS Studio with custom parameters, see the list of Launch Parameters.
You can use a launch parameter for it
How to disable streamlabs plugin when I want to multi-stream using Restream? It seems that if the streamlabs plugin is plugged-in then it wants to route your multi-streaming ability thru streamlabs rather than giving you the option to use Restream. Thoughts? Would rather not have to purchase Streamlabs ultra when I could just disable it for when I want to multistream on Restream.
!sl
As Streamlabs Desktop is not maintained by the OBS Project, we are unable to provide support for it. For help with Streamlabs Desktop, visit the Streamlabs Support Center.
Note: You can also use Streamlabs wide selection of on-screen widgets directly in OBS Studio. To learn how, follow Stream Layout Tutorial 2: Alerts & Chat Box.
oh, hm, I thought we updated that for the plugin as as well
but basically reach out to SL for assistance with their stuff, we don't have much insight in to it here.
Ok, thank you. I just figured there might be a way to disable the plugin within OBS so that it doesn't compromise/compete with Restream.
I think it's disabling the "go live flow" in their setting that allows you to gain control back of the stream destination, but yee better ask them
Not currently, no, you'd have to uninstall it.
any other options would need to check with them.
Ahh that did the trick! Thank you 🙏🏽
👍
@regal breach I'm enjoying your media-playlist-source plugin a lot, but I feel like there is something missing. That is, the ability to start on a random file as a restarting behaviour. I use it to play songs from a playlist that is shuffled with your plugin, but every time I switch to the scene with the source, I can only choose to start from the first file, or restart from the last played file. Since I use it to play shuffled music, I'd like to start on a random song. Have you considered implementing this? I imagine this can be done by internally shuffling on restart, right before playing the first file.
I found a workaround (Making the first file a really short and mute audio file), but a "native" feature for this would be perfect in my opinion. 😉
Regardless, great work on this plugin, and the fact that it shuffles on scenerefresh makes it worth using for me, over the VLC plugin! 🙂
fastest and easiest way to repeatedly crash obs
(sorry for bit of necropost, hadn't seen it originally, chiyo just showed me you asked for it)
Load a shader with OBS Shaderfilter, and put a "#define FOO BAR" on the first line of the file
(any preprocessor directive will work)
bit off topic but maybe someone knows here... I have digged deep but with no luck... I am trying to find twitch bulk clip downloader... I know there was some way to do when you put time frame (for example 1 month) and it would download those videos... but that app broke and now a lot of times just downloads thumbnails or clips without sync sound... maybe someone has something that works like that with no problems?
Hello my friends - i would like to ask if anyone has experience with OBS and Nvidia Broadcast + Gaming/Streaming?
what is the specific question?
I am having issues in OBS and i get lags in my camera - as soon as i start to play/stream a game and use background blur + background noise removal.
is there any chance to stream when i game - and not have my camera lag
when using nvidia broadcast?
last I heard there were issues with Nvidia Broadcast recently. Try downloading the SDKs and use the filters within OBS instead of the Nvidia Broadcast app
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/broadcasting/broadcast-sdk/resources/
okay thx well i tried the filter in OBS with the backgroundblurr, but the standard obs plugin blurres the background way too much
i am using the elgato camera hub - and the blurr works perfectly fine there, but its not using the blurr and taking it over to obs
I'm an idiot. 😆
I'm assuming editing an initial resource post, on the OBS Forums, puts the status back to "Awaiting approval"?
Yup
And "deleting" it until approved.
I say in quotes as it isn't actually deleted.
Thanks for letting me know. I know not to change it again!
Sometimes you can update without needing approvals again.
It's not exactly clear what triggers requiring approval on update. Probably anything that has a link or touches any of the spam filters.
Ah yeah. I moved a link higher in the post. Thanks for the info. Learning as I go!
xenforo does a pretty terrible job with resources in a lot of cases.
I wish it would just say something was "pending approval" to the user who owns the resource instead of "deleted"
because it's not deleted, and it's stupid it does that, but not much we can do.
To be fair it just says Awaiting Approval again.. not actually seen anywhere saying it's deleted. I understand why there would be flags though with malicious actors or someone getting their account hacked etc.
Hello, how are you?
I'm using OBS 31.0.1, and it crashes whenever I install Input Overlay or enable WebSocket. I have already followed the log analysis recommendations, but it still keeps crashing.
Has anyone experienced this? How did you fix it?
you get a crash report?
yesssss
send it here
like this?
that crash happens when you enable websockets?
Yes, it started after enabling WebSocket.
oh, right, so it doesn't crash, when you enable websockets
you have enabled websockets, and now those crashes happen
right?
Right! English as a second language, verb tenses are slightly different.
yeah don't worry, just wanted to make sure I was clear
does any of your browser source or dock use websockets?
none of them
what uses websockets exactly?
https://youtu.be/7DTVIh3w6U8?si=qoWE2dpUuEFav7sZ&t=778
I want to make it work like this.
you don't need websockets for input overlay
if you disable websockets, does the crash stop happening
No? This tutorial shows that I need to.
oh wait the websockets of input-overlay not of obsws
are you trying to get inputs from another computer?
No. I want the commands I use during recording to appear on the screen, but without the keyboard image, just the text. Like the part of the video I sent.
are you using a preset that is a html file?
yes
if you remove the browser source that's using that preset, do the crashes still happen?
let me check
OBS still crashing
send crash report again?
I managed to remove all sources that use Input Overlay and WebSocket, and OBS started working again. - LOL Crashes again
then you probably should report that to the plugin's dev
yeah
if it crashes again without any source from input overlay, then send a crash report and a log
thank you so much for your time helping me
Hey, was wondering, do I have to create a shader if I just want to modify a (video) source opacity via a filter? (if so, does it supports GLSL)
Thanks!
(/ where is da doc for filter development please? Thanks)
why a shader?
Because I saw that color correction filter is using that (even though it can do plenty other stuff than just change opacity)
?
if your sole goal is to change the source opacity, why not just use the color correction filter?
*My goal is to make opacity of a video source relative to the peak volume of an audio source. (Should've said it souner).
Yesterday I spent 2 hours messing with Lua, before realizing I can't get peak audio.
ok so :
1 : you can
2 : you really really shouldn't
3 : use the move plugin, it can detect audio volume and affect filter values afaik
Why shouldn't I do that? :/
scripting is a big footgun, especially so when doing stuff that's outside of the actual api
and given that there's a more proper solution, with the move plugin, use that
Wanted to do it in C.
Already managed to get the OBS Plugin Template working
oh then yeah, make your own plugin with a filter for it, way better
But if using the move plugin is more convinient, will try doing that, thx
if you can make your own plugin, it'll be more convenient in the long run
and also, would've like to get how to make obs plugins, cause it can be useful
A template for new OBS plugins including boilerplate code and CI scripts can be found at https://github.com/obsproject/obs-plugintemplate
Developer documentation for OBS can be found here: https://docs.obsproject.com
Yeah ik, I have managed to get started
that's why I was asking if I have to mess with shaders, because I have an error related to effects (I don't have the thing under the hand cause I modifited it)
Before I jump into something without knowing, what would be the best way to modify the source opacity in C?
Is it to like mess with shaders and everything?
@silk schooner Read the source code for the color correction filter, it has an opacity slider.
There are way too many things I have no idea what's going on in color correction filter, it's way beyond my C knowledge
like this: https://github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/blob/master/plugins/obs-filters/color-correction-filter.c#L340
I have no idea what it's doing
:(
I need some help. I am using the advanced scene switcher app and trying to use the OCR/text function in the video option. What I am trying to do is have it change to "scene 1" when it sees RH and change to "scene 2" when it sees LH. I have use window capture and display capture, both versions I reduce the detection area to a specific point. I can verify that it recognizes the letters that I want it to see. When it click "run macro", it changes the scene like I want but it will not change automatically when the text changes on my screen. I have tried running the macros in parallel, only during changes, I have tried just basic and added "≠" rules. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I'm onto something. Anyone knows how to fix that?
I think I'm missing some reference, but compared everything up to the CMakeLists of the color-correction-filter, and couldn't find the issue
(I'm hoping for this to be a standard thing that happens to every newbies 😭)
(It's in french, sorry, but I dunno how to change it)
You can replicate this error with copying the obs-studio color-correction-filter.c to the OBS Plugin Template C thing, without doing anything else
Thanks

You want #plugins-and-tools
oh, wait, this is that.
I have misclicked, and made a fool of myself.
Very good, carry on.
Ok actually, would it be easier to make a filter that change the opacity relative to an audio source, or making a new video source, that display an image with its opacity relative to an audio source?
LOL
i cannot get my chatbox browser source to work no matter what i do? is there a setting i need, im using a streamelements browser source
I'm not 100% certain but I think current Shaderfilter might have FFT support, which could be used to do that in a shader. (I'm still using older OBS/Shaderfilter because I'm lame LOL). However, if I'm wrong about that, OBS Shaderfilter Plus has FFT support for sure (although I dunno if it is maintained to work on current OBS or not).
I had checked really quickly if shaderfilter would do the job for what I want to do, and it didn't looked like it
but I'll dig deeper
Maybe it's the way
(and I love messing with shaders even though i'm not that good at making fancy ones yet)
I had a quick look at the latest docs for Shaderfilter and do not see mention of FFT capabilities so not sure where I got that from but I had seen something in the past that suggested it might be the case, perhaps incorrectly. The other plugin does have it though, I just don't know if it is updated to work on current OBS or not.
Nah indeed, you were right, ShaderFilter Plus does have FFT capabilities!
Big huge thanks!
(figuring out how to get the max frequency the get peak), and tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I can chose from what audio source does it has to analyze the thing (it's annoying, but not terrible)
(also, will I be able to send info from WebSockets to a shader? (not important rn)) Thanks
Note that Shaderfilter and Shaderfilter Plus, while having similar name and purpose, are completely different plugins unrelated to each other. 🙂
Interesting
Uhh, are these checkbox impacting audio? Or is it for, well messing around as I do?
Those checkboxes are for telling those sources which track or tracks to play on.
ok
Apparently 1 is for playback, so can I freely bind 2 to 6?
Ohh yeah we can set that in output
Dang that's really awesome
Thanks everyone, I love you very much
Any can be for playback. You can record any 1 track, all six tracks, or any combination of quantity and specific tracks in between. And independent of your recordin choices, one can be designated for stream. By default, Simple mode Output uses track 1, but that can be changed in Advanced mode.
To record multiple audio tracks in one file, particularly for video editing purposes, follow the Multiple Audio Track Recording Guide
And would it be possible to maybe have more tracks? :D
in short, no
yes it's possible I think
Are you... answering your own questions?
update your makefile and makecnf and make sure your externs make sense
I had tried to merge what i thought was missing from the color correction filter to my thing, but I either missed stuff, or missed makecnf stuff
Self rubber ducking
hey all, is anyone here familiar with Waveform? trying to install it and it's not cooperating
What file did you download, and what error/problem are you seeing?
HEEELP
I tried to reinstall from different sources, transfer to different disks, to a folder (86), update drivers
Describe what the problem is in words, and what plugin you're having a problem with.
I just can’t open the obs
It worked fine, then it shut down urgently and stopped working at all
Try the support channel for your operating system, such as #windows-support
Downloaded the Beta 1.9.0 version on Windows and extracted it to root but getting mothing on the OBS side

Hello everyone! How are you?
Regarding my issue with input-overlay crashing OBS, I found a "solution" in the first link below.
With this, OBS stopped crashing, but it made input-overlay stop working, even though it is installed.
To achieve what I wanted – which was to display the keys I use on the keyboard while recording educational videos about architecture software – I am using Keyviz (second link).
Thank you for your help

hello
i have an issue that, i've downloaded the 3d effect but when i try to (filter - 3d effect) i couldnt found the 3d effect option
what should i do?
i re download many time

this?
Hi, i am a bit confused as to how you have it setup. When you switch scenes, do you not let the media finish? Because if you make it so plays the next file, then it will be randomized
What exactly did you download and how did you install?
Because the 3d effect plugin isn't loading at all
dangg i dont get it
and also to restart obs after running the installer
Extract. And then run the extracted installer
Plugins load on launch
aaa so i just need to stop my stream and try to restart my cpu?
Restart obs
ohh close obs and then open it again?
That's typically how you restart a program, yes

@vernal crown https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/move.913/
This is promising! Thanks! Does this just cover the movement functionality or does it offer pattern tracking as well? 🙂
Very cool and definitely points me to a step in the right direction. Appreciate it!
I'm looking around for a specific plugin or tool that can acheive this:
As you can see in the image, I have a spot in this example layout where there is space for a source on screen, which gets switched out with other similarly-sized sources every so often.
What I want is a system for replacing the source and swapping it out with one of the others.
I have used the source toggler lua script in the past, I think, but this does not take into account priority or timings, and is pretty limited.
I would want to have capabilities for a priority tree/queue (for example if a raid comes in, that would override every other source). Also having groups be on a timer would ideal.
I think there are tools for this with the Move plugin, there was something called Transition Overrides that might do this? I don't know. Maybe using Advance Scene Switcher within a nested scene? Does that work within nested scenes?
the Source Switcher plugin can do it.
Its basically like the Image Slideshow, but can use scenes and sources as the elements it switches between
I use it for cycling thru different ad panels I have in my break scene, each panel is built as a separate scene so I can composite a lot of things together
Ok yes this looks promising already, I will check it out!
its very versatile. I use a NodeJS script externally to change the displayed scene/source based on a text file, but you can also just have it automatically cycle based on its own settings
Yes I was particularly interested in ways I could trigger these from outside OBS like with streamer.bot or Node.js
yep, use the Text File option at the bottom of that settings window. You still need to add all of the potential sources/scenes to its list, but you can then use StreamerBot/NodeJS to change the contents of the text file that it is monitoring
Awesome, thank you so much!
welcome
I seem to have lost the control buttons for media files, like in "VLC Source", I cant skip or stop button or other media files.... I have a few other issues as well, I'm considering uninstalling OBS and reinstalling it but I have like a lot of scenes and sources... I did the exports... anything I should try / check first?
View -> Source Toolbar?
lmfao -facepalm it's there now, thanks
Hello, I can't seem to figure out how to install the Elgato marketplace plugin

Does anyone know / can help me understand under what conditions a given instance of obs-shaderfilter is still actively on the GPU (using resources) vs not? I'm not sure I can tell really.
Is hiding it sufficient to "unload" it (with the little eyeball) or hiding the source? Removing the source from the active mix? Must the filter be deleted?
Yes- toggling off the filter eyeball will keep it from going through the render process on your GPU, as will toggling off the source.
The one gotcha some people don’t realize- if you simply drag the source off the side of the canvas to hide it, it will still do the rendering process on the GPU.
... people do that? 😅😅😅
That's a new one on me, ty for explaining all of that
I presume the same is true of composite blur and stroke/glow/shadow then?
normally any filter should be "unloaded" when the eye is toggled on the filter, as that literally deactivates the filter source
I have seen weird cases with streamfx filters a few years ago, but it wasn't very conclusive
(n.b. that toggling the eye on the source the filter is on does not guarantee the same result, at all, be it for the source itself or its filters. The icon is the same, what it does behind the scenes (ha!) is very different)
I do it, to have things move in from the side of the screen using the move plugin. If it is something GPU intensive, I'll add a move action to the chain that turns the filter off/on when it slides off/on the canvas. Just one of those things to be aware of :D. And yes, that is true of composite blur and SGS.
Interesting. I've always just used the little eyeball symbols (streamdeck and streamerbot play well with that, move plug-in does too) but I suppose it makes intuitive sense to get the thing off screen and expect it would reduce load.
Thank you again! And thanks for your plugins, I really enjoy them
For me it is more of a animated move in/out effect that I was trying to achieve. Not moving it with the intent of it not rendering (if that makes sense)
ahhh.I think I might have lost the domain 😦
I see, I gotcha
hi, i'm fairly new to obs, and am interested in writing a video filter. looking at the source and documentation, it seems like video filters are generally written as GPU shaders in .effect files. is it possible to write a video filter that runs on the CPU? at least for initial development and debugging, it would be nice to run things on the CPU.
You can run a filter on the CPU, sure.
how does one do that? is there an example to look at? or where can i find documentation on how to do the gpu readback / write?
If anyone is interested in a PNG tuber tool, then I found this one, which seems very good in my opinion:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PngTuber/comments/xaoz2b/pngtube_a_lightweight_png_animator_for_obs/?rdt=65444
Hey, I'm trying to make a transition from Scene A to Scene B, with having a video scrolling by inbetween (see example below)
I was suggested to use SceneSwitcher Advanced, I did the following:
(Fade is just while setting it up).
The issue is that, before switching to the transition scene, it transition to the B scene (not cool)
Anyone have a tip how to fix that? (Or if there is a better way to do what i wanna do?)
Thanks!
Seems like you'd have to do something like have a 'transition' scene... and then your transition sets up that scene to show the A scene on screen, the video and the B scene off to the right, switches to the transition scene, then scroll everything to the left until only the B scene is showing, and then transition to the B scene.
What would be the most convenient way to do?
(With what tool)
And I saw a browser transition plugin.
Do you know if it supports like, moving scenes "A" and "B" around?
Probably advanced scene switcher (to set things up and actually switch scenes) + move transition (to do the actual movements of things)
Alas, never really played with browser transition (nor scene as transition or whatever that one is called)
When I was using advanced scene switcher, before jumping to the transition scene, it was jumping to the destination scene before going to the transition scen
You'll definitely need a delay in there somewhere. If it would me, I'd set move transition to turn off the move filter when the move is done, and then trigger adv-ss to do the final scene change when that filter became not visible.
so my veadotube app is not showing up on my OBS what do I do
Adv-ss devided not to work anymore
I think I just cannot do what I would like to :(
The movement plug-in has "previous/current" scene references in drop downs which I haven't experimented with. Does that support in-app stingers without transparent videos?
hey @silk schooner is this the kind of thing you wanted?
Just created it now using a windows application I made to animate stuff in OBS!
Hey, not really, I would like the video to slide after A, and B slide after the video (see example below)
#plugins-and-tools message
Oh! I see yeah. I'll sure I could get that to work
Context: 2 scenes have different layout that are oscilloscopes (with the elements of the oscilloscope are replaced with useful information)
And so would like to create a new transition, where the viewer switch from screen left to screen right. (I made the video already) (I can export it if you want)
@silk schooner Adv-ss should run on the latest obs-studio version, try installing it again if you don't see it in the Tools menu.
Nah adv-ss works, but bad :(
@silk schooner Assume we have "scene 1" (scene we're transitioning from), "scene 2" (scene we're transitioning to), "media source" (video file you want to use).
Create "scene 3", add "scene 1", "scene 2" as Scene sources, add "media source".
Add a new Move filter to "scene 3" and configure it to move "scene 1" off-screen (say, 1920 pixels left).
Add another Move filter to "scene 3" and configure it to move "scene 1" back to center position.
Add a new Move filter to "scene 3" and configure it to move "scene 2" to center position.
Add another Move filter to "scene 3" and configure it to move "scene 2" back to off-screen (1920 pixels right).
Test the filters and verify they work.
Can I do that with Move? Or does it requires ADV-SS too?
@silk schooner This does use the Move plugin, adv-ss might be useful to automate everything once it's configured, but for now (during troubleshooting), only the Move plugin and a few hotkeys are needed.
@silk schooner This better? Hopefully you get the plugins working. I just saw your post and was bored, so wanted see if I could create it with my software.
YEAH
how can i get it? :)
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/stream-animate-realtime-motion-graphics.2101/ on the OBS forums. I can actually send you that animation I just made to import. Although maybe work out what's wrong with your current install/plugins first?
It's a crazy thing you made!
Born from years ago being annoyed trying to make videos with transparency many years ago. There have been quite a few versions
might be overkill if thats the only animation you're trying to achieve
I fixed it by uninstalling all the previous plugins i installed.
Then I had to delete all my scenes and created them again
can I just use the plugin? Or does the software have to run too?
my software doesn't use the move plugin.
k
For the first step, do I have to create a new Move Source in scene 3 filters?
@silk schooner Yes, scenes 1 and 2 will be nested so that they can be moved.
I'm not sure where I can input scene sources in Move Source
sry, I'm trying my best :(
@silk schooner Have you already nested scenes 1 and 2 in scene 3?
No
That is required for them to appear in the dropdown list.
How do I nest scenes?
@silk schooner Create scene 3, add a new Scene source to it, select "scene 1", OK. Add another Scene source, select "scene 2", OK.
Awesome I got it to work!
but so I can't scale it for every scenes?
@silk schooner That sounds like a lot of effort. Might be possible to replace those nested scenes with source clone sources pointing at the origin scene and the destination scene, maybe? I'd rather see if I can use the software discussed previously.
(that's not terrible, I have a small amount of scenes (like 3) that would fit for that anyway)
The software looks really neat and super cool, but the only downside is that I would prefer destroying my brain and losing time on working on all in OBS plugin rather than using a software that is less lightweight
anyway, getting late (3am), goin 2 sleep, will finish that next week-end. Big huge thanks for the help, crazy awesome.
Bb
hello
Can we get the streamelements plugin for Mac users too 🙌
Anyone know how to get the #Move Plugin to "flip" and source when using the Move filter?
@tardy schooner By flip, do you mean the equivalent of the Transform > Flip horizontal/vertical context menu?
Hey, do you want to just use Stream Elements sources (chat and everything) in OBS on MAC?
If so, you just have to use Browser Sources (I think that sometimes Browser Sources have to be installed separately, so check if you don't already have Browser Sources),
Then, get on the webpage of Stream Elements, create a new layout, put some stuff in it, then top-right it should give you a link, copy it and paste it in your browser source in OBS, and that's it.
Hi, anyone here uses the advanced scene switcher plugin on macOS?
Wanted to check something as that's not working at intended on my macOS using this plugin.
No more the plugin for multistreaming and multichat for different platforms
!multirtmp Aitums multistream plugin works on mac
A third party plug-in for streaming to multiple endpoints is available for OBS Studio.
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/aitum-multistream.1991/
is 6klabs safe to use?
Hello, there was an update yesterday (I streamed friday and didn't see it then) for new C++ redistriibutables and now DistroAV doesn't work... has this happened to anyone else?? If so, how do I fix it?? Thanks in andvance...
But not multichat
With the amount of issues folks with the se plug-in have, though.
Yes.
I need your ideas
I have recorded voiceover but I need to record the visual explanation via obs
is there a way or plugin to make the audio run once I start recording ?
so I can hear and sync my actions with that ?
is there a better way to do it even without OBS as video produce ?
If it were me, I would record what I need to but not worry about being exact in timing. You can edit the video to match your voiceover better
I see
but I'm lack of experience on that side
speically the faceless content Idk
I found editing very intimidating at first. I started out doing nothing but putting my recorded video in the timeline and then cutting it up. And I watched a lot of YT videos about it LOL
You can do it!
yep it does need practice , each time I do a video i feel like newbie
Me too!
@tardy schooner Add a Move Source filter to the scene where the source you need to move resides, click "Get transform" in the filter properties dialog, copy the text to a notepad window, then right-click the source > Transform > Flip horizontal/vertical, click "Get transform" again, the value will be different. Now you can create 2 Move Source filters that will flip and un-flip it.
which is worse !
if my stream encoder is H264 and my source record H264
OR
stream H264 and source record H265 or AV1
I want to know if using the same algorithm has better results and less weight !
Probably no real noticeable difference but my recommendation is always to test yourself.
Welp.. 😅 I have question about plugin that curves the image.. can't explain better
probably better ask in streamelemets discord server but anybody know why chat is not apearing in the black box that i put in am using streamelemets

To cleanly remove SE.Live:
- Close any instances of OBS
- Uninstall SE.Live (Add/Remove Programs)
- Uninstall OBS Studio (make sure that "User Settings" is not selected)
- Install OBS Studio again from https://obsproject.com/
Your settings will be saved unless you have selected to delete them during removal.
(you'll need to reinstall 3d-effect afterwards)
i will try 🤗
yes yes thank you boss
whats with the obs bot answer. i cant delete obs and se then all my scenes are gone
the bot answer was trigerred by me, and no uninstalling obs if done properly won't remove your scenes
!export
if you want to be safe, you can do a backup beforehand
To export OBS settings to back them up, go to Profile > Export (to export streaming/recording settings) and Scene Collection > Export (to export scenes).
(and you should regularly do backups)
i cant do backup its too big
The “make sure User Settings is NOT selected” part is how you retain your scenes
yes you can
the way to do a backup that is described in the second bot's message I trigerred will only be a few megabytes in size at most
Technically is has a different name now in the uninstaller. I believe its named “Scenes, Sources, etc” or something similar
actually if you're on win, can you check that and suggest a change to the factoid?
okay thats what i do often but never tried to get it back and fear it wont work
1 : check
2 : once again, uninstalling obs will not remove your settings
3 : if you're really too afraid, just get used to having the message on start
thank you very much will give it a try
Will do, once im more awake, 🙂
ty
how can i uninstall 3d effect, just saw there many new versions. i have 0.1.0
should just be able to install the new version overtop of the old version using the installer app for it
i try this or better uninstall obs and se
because it was suggested to my isue written abve
then focus on that before dealing with 3D Effect
already downloaded
thats why i wanted to delete it and see if its good then
i cant backup se live its too big. any chnce to find out how much size is possible, how much the backup is actual ?
once again, you don't need to backup se.live, you just need to backup the scene collection
all your data is saved in the scene collection and the profile
sorry for misunderstanding
!export
this below is all that needs be done to backup your stuff in obs
To export OBS settings to back them up, go to Profile > Export (to export streaming/recording settings) and Scene Collection > Export (to export scenes).
this was written Close any instances of OBS
Uninstall SE.Live (Add/Remove Programs)
yes
so not uninstall se live ?
yes uninstall se.live
but you don't need to back it up before
because you won't lose any setting
okay
you just need to backup the scene collection and profile
i did
one question the differnce from se backup to export (profile, scenes) is if i dont delete necessary scene files or media files its full restorable with the import files ?
it sould
but unless you didn't follow the instructiosn, there won't be a difference in scenes/Sources
my way to understand the backup copys all data to cloud which is too big. the export style is good if it works the same , with only settings and configurations to the files
there is no cloud involved whatsoever
there is a se cloud for backup
that is up to SE to manage, and unrelated to OBS
i know but i try to figure out. wrote e mail to them i will inform if you like
I would not like
ok
and that's nothing against you
i understand
I just really don't care about whatev tf they do
i didnt know sorry just sit betwen hte chairs
if you want a way to backup your scene collection including stuff like assets, images, videos, I can give you a plugin that does that
the TL;DR of se.live is whatever it does, something else does it better and without breaking obs
tl dr ? yeah im interested to see your suggest
okay so this is only for scenes and export profile still necessary. god idea
yes but it exports not just the SC file, but also packaged with all the assets afaik
i thank you a lot thats what i maybe needed all time because i have many difficult scenes and with that i can play and reduce with no problem to restore. will try it the next days, also reinstall of all, after my stream on thursday 🤣
( For advanced scene swifter) Hello, on a scene, there is a timer. After 5 minutes, it automatically changes and reactivates the audio sources. Is there a way for the audio to reactivate if I switch manually before the timer ends?
adding a second if (or) with a condition like scene is or scene is not
Hi I have a question about advanced scene switcher
In the action for file I want to print the time to a file
it has the text that I can type I want to know how to markup the text so it prints the current time to the text file
"Deprecated" means "this still (mostly) works if you really need specifically this one, but get away from using it / use something newer"
In your case, don't use it. ❤️
Hi does anyone know of a tool can be a plugin or a script that is similar to the Visibility Timer for sources but can work for scenes not currently active, i.e. de/active sources within a nested scene?
Hi, everyone.
I started project from https://github.com/obsproject/obs-plugintemplate
It doesn't use system-installed Qt. It downloads obs-deps-qt6-2024-09-12-x64 and uses it, but it doesn't include Qt WebEngine.
How can I import QtWebEngine?
Hey!
I am a youtuber and I make videos from OBS However, I encountered a problem: OBS bugger Roblox Do you have a solution to fix this?
can you explain a bit more
When I launch OBS and I launch Roblox Roblox does not have the same fluidity and I do less FPS
Sorry if my English is not perfect I am a French user
I reinstalled all, now IT seems working unlive. Hope live ITS also working.

Is there any way to copy and paste scenes/sources on Streamelements's Canvas?
It's quite a pain to add every single source individually

personally I would advise using aitum's vertical-canvas plugin instead
I saw a lot of people mentioning it, and before installing it to give it a go i also wanted to ask, is there any conflict?
Like, if i'm already using the SE.Live stuff, installing aitum's plugin could cause issues or they can co-exist?
!ser
they can coexist, but se.live is generally fucky, so I would advise removing it if you don't use it

I've been using all of it's functionalities, but i may think about taking it off depending on how i feel about it
Thanks for all the tips
it has no functionality beside the vertical canvas and multistreaming they recently added, both of which aitum's plugins can do
A third party plug-in for streaming to multiple endpoints is available for OBS Studio.
https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/aitum-multistream.1991/
they split them into two plugins, one for vertical one for multistream, but the two work together
Good to know
Uh seems like i can't use aitum to multistream for tiktok if i don't have access to my stream key yet

how do i get thin plug in for the multi stream ?
!multirtmp @royal zodiac Download and install it.

Stream desk
is there an equivalent of timer_add (obs scripting) for c plugins?
huh, wouldn't those freeze obs?
I'm unsure exactly how blocking they are, likely depends where you call them
alternatively, have a looksie at adv-ss, it does have a timer
thanks
Hello!
I want to upload some videos of past streams to a site, but it only allows up to 2GB files, I can crop my old streams, but what about future ones?
Is there a way for OBS to end a recording and start a new one every time the output hits certain file size?
I do 8 hour long streams, and they are around 9 GB each.
I have been looking everywhere and can't find something like this.
Obs does have file splitting based on size or time for recording
It "might" require using advanced output instead of simple, but not at pc currently to confirm
@pearl hawk For your existing recordings, use mkvtoolnix gui, split by size, change output file extension to flv or mp4 if needed. For future recordings, use obs-studio's file splitting feature.
omg thank you! couldn't find it until now
@idle dagger This one.
@idle dagger Run obs-studio on both PCs, do you see "NDI(tm) source" when trying to add a new source in the Sources dock?
How do i get rid of the yellow line around my game when im streaming
i would go to windows support this is for plugins
@idle dagger Install this on both PCs: https://github.com/DistroAV/DistroAV/releases/tag/6.0.0
@untold jay
@idle dagger Disable firewalls on both ends, close and reopen this properties window.
stream pc
@idle dagger Now add a new NDI(tm) source on the second PC and see if there's anything on the list.
When using a Display Capture or Window Capture source with the "Windows 10 (1903 and up)" method, you will have a yellow border surrounding the portion of the screen being captured. Unfortunately, this border cannot currently be removed on Windows 10.
You can try using another capture method in the source properties, but it's possible this will instead produce a black screen. We automatically disable the yellow border on Windows 11 as Microsoft allows us to.
It is only visible to you, and it will not show up on stream or in recordings.
sadly nothing
i have not rebooted by the way. if you want me to or think that means nothing
@idle dagger Are the PCs in the same LAN, are they able to ping each other and use SMB shares and such?
Some routers have "guest mode" where connected PCs have internet but can't interact with each other.
pretend im dumb and dont know how to do what your asking but yes they are on the same lan. i turned off wifi on both, both have the ethernet symbol as the internet
i have a ubiquiti settup and see both of them on the software aas hardware on the same network
@idle dagger Run cmd, type ipconfig on both of them, then from one PC try pinging the other PC's LAN IP.
looks good?
@idle dagger Run cmd on the other PC and type ping 192.168.1.116
READ THAT
@idle dagger The PCs aren't allowed to see each other by the router.
This is probably intentional, is this setup all yours, or someone else owns the router?
all mine, i dont even use the router by the provider
like when i say nothing has changed at all. i mean zero has changed
@idle dagger Something is preventing pings from coming through. Could be router settings, or a firewall on either PC.
let me try again. if it persists then let me ask my cousin he does this part for a livving 1 sec
@untold jay working on it, how much longer do i have your amazing help for tongith ?
@idle dagger I have nothing better to do, for now, I'm all yours.
this is on gaming pc
weird they dont have the same name no?
@untold jay
@untold jay so i do see it on the obs to obs end
@idle daggerDo you get a video feed between obs-studio instances?
yes i do !
@idle dagger What's next?
so i need to then i guess just get streamlabs to now see it
do you know the thing i need to download for streamlabs end?
@idle dagger I think streamlabs desktop ships with the obs-ndi plugin, you should be able to run streamlabs desktop and see either "NDI(tm) source" or some mention of "distroav" when adding a new source.
so i see the computer name. but its not coming up correctly, this is the name it should be findint it as
it look slike its actually pulling the info the old way not the distrov way
No, this is normal, it shows the PC's name, followed by the name you specify in the NDI output settings. Do you see video?
so i see no video. but in the past it shows the mimic of what i circled in red
when it shows the name of the pc thats if its using the ndi app to transfer the info
i hope that makes some sense
okay i made some headway
it says isntall newtek ndi tools
i am installing thi snow
we did it
i love you
can i tip u ?
@idle dagger If you want to donate to someone, donate to sorayuki, the creator of obs-multi-rtmp and obs-ffmpeg-afilter. Or to obsproject. I would if I could. https://paypal.me/sorayuki0 https://obsproject.com/contribute
cool will do
ill dono to both
@untold jay how come you spend you time doing all this?
@idle dagger I treat it as a puzzle game. Work with limited information and somewhat limited time to find out what broke and why, and how to fix it.
I'm sure it's a lot less fun for the other party, but they usually don't complain.
is there a non monthly way to dono?
@idle dagger Patreon allows unsubscribing immediately after subscribing, Paypal is one-time.
Anyone got a tip to make the move plugin animations look a little less jarring when scaling? The text here is an image where I simply change the scale up and down.
I'll be honest, that looks pretty smooth to me? But if I felt a move transition wasn't smooth, I would play around with tuning the duration and try different easing functions out, see what looks better.
There's a couple of aliasing issues, most notable under the S of starting. Gonna try doing it in AE instead to see if I can get a bit of a cleaner effect.
Can you share your filter settings to get that effect? Maybe I can reproduce here and dig in.
Is it not a 3dEffect + Move Value? Or are you using the Scale filter?
It is not, it is a simple transform change going from 1.0 scale to 1.1
One of those I applied the filters to the source itself (Text GDI+ 3) and the other to the scene it lives in. I'd recommend doing the latter and nesting that scene into the main scene
If you apply the filters to the source it might be "growing" out of its own transform bounds
Hmm, that does look better. I am using an image instead of a text source tho.
It'll work vs an image
I'll get back to you when I get to test it back home, thanks for the tip
Happy to help 🙂
Nested scenes for the win
Since a recent update to OBS, I'm finding that every day VLC media source is broadcasting a black screen. This macro worked last year and the year before, but now it doesn't work anymore. It's supposed to switch to another playlist when the screen goes black for 10 S. Used to work on older versions.
Hey guys I am new to obs. I am setting up 5 ptz cameras for our church. All is good but is there a way to adjust the PTZ cam position when the scene with that came is now live/in program mode.
also is there a plugin that aids in changing the color of the scene button and or a way to organize the scenes?
You can use powerful macros in OBS Studio using timers, cursor detection, window detection, and more to automate switching between scenes, toggle sources, and many other options.
To get started, install the Advanced Scene Switcher plugin and see the GitHub project wiki to learn how to use it.
Hello everyone! I am new to OBS Studio, I am coming from Restream. I am a podcaster for football and have guests on my podcasts everytime. They are on different devices in different locations. It is a different guest most times. What is the best way to make it easy for him and me to communicate and for the podcast to see both of us, similar to restream?
vdo.ninja is a great solution
hello. help me please. I installed obs 31.01, installed the plugin, the "title" checkbox appears in the dock menu, multiple output, but there are no buttons themselves. there are only "scenes", "mixer", "settings", "input" and so on. I'm a beginner, can someone tell me what to do next? Thank you in advance

hey. Any pointers what to check when the streamlabs alert box is not making any sound? It all works fine in the streamlabs page, but in OBS no. The image and text pops up when testing but no audio incoming.
the source is correct
does it work in its own page? like if you just paste the URL in a web browser and send a test alert? you'll want to make sure the streamlabs page is muted to test this properly.
no the page is just white. I copied the widged url from the page. If i just go in streamlabs and open the alert box, everything is there and works well.
the url is not correct then?
not sure, but if it isn't working as you expect when testing in a web browser it also would not work in OBS.
streamlabs does have their own support you could reach out to if that is the case.
yeah. this is problematic. OBS doesn't have it's own alert box? would be so much easier :D
it does not, providing alerts is more of a service which OBS is not involved in.
alrighty. thank you ^_^
t 1 minute, then stop the youtube stream and, after a few seconds, stop the facebook stream. When I check the two destinations, only the youtube stream has appeared on the youtube channel. Facebook shows nothing. Does the free download support multizstreaming or should I pay the $5.xx/mo and get the paid version?
free version/paid version of what app?
Aitum multistream
!aitum

I dont believe there is a paid version of Aitum Multistream
I will head to Aitum - thanks!
They do have some pro plan thing
$50/yr
Aitum app
Oh multistream. Yea that's fully free
Streaming to FB is just flat jank AF and has been for years
yup 😄
hey @untold jay, so the move stuff are working. How can I make that it's a transition please?
- Old Version (30.2.2)
- Windows 11 23H2 (OK)
- Not Admin
- No Output Session
- Third-Party Plugins (10)
Intel Core i7-12650H - OK! / GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU - OK!
Is there a way to access crash logs as well?
I should try to force it I guess.
So I think this is an issue with the iOS Camera Plugin for OBS, but it could be something else. I only have the plugin active on my current scene layout (and Mic/Aux).
When I close out of OBS, it hangs on for a minute and exits. When I load it back up, I get this message.
It doesn't produce a crash report.
yo guys , I can multi-Stream with source record plugin isn't?
also streaming different scenes!?
yes
but I think this not 100% what I'm looking for
is it possible to add overlay for each output
I would advise using the aitum vertical-canvas and multistream plugins
aitum will just solve it for Short form stream
other plugins I think they don't have this option as they follow the main obs scene
Aitum Multistream will handle streaming to multiple services just fine
to be clear, you want to stream more than two different video?
yes let's say you'd want to put specific overlay for output
yes but not with different overlay per output
I'd use the aitum vertical canvas plugin
Set Vertical Canvas to have a horizontal resolution
which allows you to have two different canvases with two different video and output both at the same time
so this means just 2 platforms so far
yes
hence the question : do you neeed more than two different video
ah yes ofc
so
setup's gonna be more complex but check that one
that's 4 platforms
ok
yes but most people are fine with sending the same video to most if not all platforms
gotcha
and this will ofc need more encoding
yes
yep
can't use the same encoder on different video
logical
